Quest #1: Barricade the Entrances

Description: Unfortunately for survivors, the mall was built to let people in instead of keeping people out. There are numerous entrances and exits scattered around the mall, and that doesn’t even include the direct entrances and exits some stores have. Everyone agrees that a lock isn’t enough. Rather than have the worst happen, everyone is encouraged to scavenge and locate what they can from the mall and use it to help barricade and block off entrances. At least one entrance has been barricaded and set up to use as a main entrance and exit. The rest need to be reinforced.

Goal: RP your survivor finding something to help barricade the mall. It can be a table or chairs from one of the many stores, or even one of the stands out in the middle of the mall floor. Have them add it to a barricade. There are barricades that lead directly to the mall, as well as barricades within stores themselves.

First time doing this quest? Please write a minimum of 100 words for 1 Arcade Token.

Repeating? Minimum word count jumps up to 300 in order to claim your 1 Arcade Token.

Feeling wordy? Go above and beyond the bare minimum for additional tokens! These token bonuses do not stack, so you can't write 100 words to claim 1 token, then add 300 words to claim 2 more tokens.

    500 words = 2 Arcade Tokens.
    600 words = 3 Arcade Tokens.
    700 words = 4 Arcade Tokens.
    800 words = 5 Arcade Tokens.

Stumped? Now’s a great time for your character to reflect on the crazy things that have gone down. Maybe they’re upset and need to calm down by nailing things into the barricade. Maybe they’re feeling creative and think the barricades could use more color and decide to go crazy with some glitter glue. The only requirement (aside from the word count) is that your character is doing something to improve the barricades protecting them and everyone else from the infected.

Whistle While You Work: Doing stuff alone is fine, but you don’t have to solo! Feel free to play along with some friends as you work together. The word count can be spread out throughout your total posts for the day.

This was a pain. Abby constantly was annoyed by having to go and find things to keep the undead out. The mall was good in that it had a lot of things in it, however it was such a pain to keep safe. With many exits it seemed impossible to keep things out. However she knew it was important to make sure that they were safe, so day in and day out she helped the others work on the barrier. She would venture into IKEA or look through stores that hadn't been searched before. Every day she worked towards making the place safe. She really felt like she was helping.

She had already gone through her daily rituals of making sure that her own little base was safe. She looked at the boxes in her walls, along with all of the other things she was using for the wall, and now it was time to help the others. She was sure that even if she had an amazing barrier at her personal base she wouldn't live long if the main barriers went down. As much as she didn't care for most of the others that lived in the mall she wasn't about to leave her life in the hands of others. If helping with the barrier helped them while helping her, well it just made her look a little better.

As she walked through the mall she found that each day it was harder and harder to find things to add to the barrier. People were using the things that could be used. Things that originally wouldn't have even been thought of as something that could used for barriers were already used. Trays from the food court, little things that shouldn't be effective, were already used. She finally found some stray wood and was sure that it would be able to help make one of the smaller barriers stronger. She brought it to the first of the smaller doors and found that they didn't need anything there. They said that one of the other ones needed stuff though so she headed there.

Abby walked through, and as she walked she found a few other things. Two chairs that would work well and some nails that were on the floor. Someone must have dropped them and not noticed. She headed over to one of the smaller doors and gave them the first pieces of wood. She also gave them one of the chairs, though they didn't need the nails due to already having them. They seemed happy to see her and she gave them her best smile before moving along. These people were pretty stupid, but they were useful. Plus it wasn't like they were completely horrible. She went to another small barrier and gave the last chair and the nails before heading back to her base.

After all of this she felt better about her safety. She also felt a little a little bit better about herself, and the people around her. Though she would never tell.
