The prisons are one of the safest places to live in during the event; but those in charge want to keep it that way. This means making sure anyone who's lucky enough to be staying in a cell should be mentally equipped to handle what's in store for them. The first test any prison faction member has to go through is psychological testing; we're already filled with former criminals, it's too dangerous to ignore. The world outside is life-threatening enough; the last thing we need is insanity killing us from the inside, too.
These tests can be taken once daily while still in civvie stage of membership. This consists of one Rorschach test, and one simple ethics question. You can only do this test 10 times total, and you cannot pick the same Rorschach twice - nor can you pick the same ethics question twice. You're allowed to choose which ones you do, or if you'd rather roll for them, they are numbered from 1-10, simply roll 2d10. Just make sure you pick different ones each time.
You can do both in one post, or use separate posts for each - but you must have a word count of at least 100 words for each part, either way. Your internal dialogue can be as crazy or murderous as is canon for the character, but it would probably be best not to say you see yourself killing someone in the Rorschach test, if you want to move on to the next stage. (AKA, lying is OOCly totally allowed/encouraged).
What if my character sees nothing? -This is a perfectly valid response, and yet will obviously give you issues when getting to 100 words. Thankfully, the psychologist who is administering these tests is very insistent. You are allowed to roleplay having an argument with the psychologist, whose only response to your problem is to try harder. He tells you to twist it. Turn it. Let your eyes unfocus. He will give your character every possible generic advice on how to see something, and they may still not see anything - but at least this will give you enough fodder to use for the roleplay.
Is there a right answer to the ethics questions? -There is never a right answer for ethics questions such as these. You are an individual, and will react in different ways to different things. We will not judge or expel you for being scared. We're all scared. We will not judge or expel you for your answers if they reflect that fear. There are no right answers, but there are wrong answers. Those are the only ones we will be looking for. Answer carefully, and remember that our faction rewards respect and safety.

She didn't like tests.
Tests exposed weaknesses. They revealed what you knew...and more importantly, what you didn't know. She'd bullshitted her way through as many as she could in high school, just barely enough to squeak by with a passing grade, but here? Was this really necessary?
When the psychologist dropped the Rorschach cards neatly in a pile on the desk between them, her arms folded themselves defensively across her chest. The doctor described the test's details, but their voice was drowned out by her own thoughts. Was she going to be seen as a weak link, giving wrong answers to these things? She didn't like where this was going...but did she really have a choice?
The first card was lifted up.
"What do you see?"
Rorschach Tests
1.
"A bug." She was curt, her answer almost a blurt. She didn't know what she was supposed to be seeing. Was that a good enough answer? "Bug's face." she corrected herself, concern growing in her face. "Am I right?"
Ethics Questions
1. You must choose between saving the life of another faction member, or obtaining a box of bottled water. You cannot do both. Which do you choose, and why?
Lola pondered this question for a moment, her teeth absentmindedly chewing on her bottom lip as she weighed her options. It had been a month, but she still didn't feel as though she knew many of her faction members all that well still...but then again, water couldn't help her if she had a problem that didn't involve thirst.
"Faction member, naturally." Her tongue snaked out to wet her bottom lip, now stinging from her gnawing. Her voice was dry - how ironic it was, being parched when being asked if they'd choose water - but her answer confident, "We've got to stick together, after all. I mean, it's got to eventually rain again, we can go exploring - not like we can't find options for other things to drink. Can't exactly replace people, y'know?"

The psychologist softly hmmed to themselves as they scribbled some words down, one hand holding a black pen while the other kept the notepad up and out of view of their patient. There wasn't much jotting being done, as far as Lola was concerned. They didn't seem too interested in her opinion on the Rorschach question, but then again, this shrink had a winning poker face if the woman had ever seen one.
"And this one?" The doctor asked, flipping over a new card.

Lola froze. She knew she was supposed to respond with the first thing that came to mind...but God help her, all she was seeing were bugs in these ink blots! BUGS! Was this supposed to mean something? It wasn't like she was thinking about bugs all of the time... I mean, sure, they bugged her out (no pun intended), but she didn't obsess over them like some clean freak might.
"Ummm..." She murmured softly, thinking as fast as she could, "I see...little hearts around the edges. And wings, wings of some sort. That one makes me think of flying, like with wings."
Ugh.
Ethics Test
2. You disagree with a rule that your faction has expressly stated. How do you react? Do you do nothing? Do you try to make change happen? If so, how?
Her shoulders shrugged as she received the question, her expression emotionless. While she knew her true answer, she wasn't about to reveal the fact that she could be posed as a threat to the order of things in their little faction. Follow rules? Her? Any of them, for that matter? This was a prison, for Christ's sake, they were all there (or MOST of them were there) for breaking rules already put in place.
Rules. Pft. Rules were only convenient to the ones trying to control everything else.
"I mean, I guess it depends on how it affects the group. If majority goes with it, I'm not going to be the one to shake the boat." Then again, if the majority chose to start eating each other, her answer might change just a little bit.

"Stupid bugs," she thought bitterly to herself as the doctor continued her scribbling in the notepad. The scribbles were erratic now, Lola unsure as to what words or comments the psychologist was actually remarking on.
"And this one?"
The card flipped over and a wave of relief washed over Lola.
Rorschach Test
Finally, it wasn't a bug!
She stared at it for a moment, collecting her thoughts all the while attempting to suppress a grin. It was a dark picture, almost ominous. "I see...a tunnel. Like a cave, where a small boat is attempting to pass through."
Leaving out the details of it being quite an evil looking cave was in her best interest, she felt.
Ethics Question
3. Someone has said something against your particular choices in life. Do you confront this person? How does the interaction proceed?
Her mouth opened to respond, but closed immediately afterwards as the question sunk in. Ugh. This was not a good question.
Thoughts drifted back to the several occasions where individuals had made comments or opposition against her personal choices and decisions. For the most part, it didn't end well for the other party. Classmates got punched, former coworkers got punched and current coworkers...well, Al definitely had his fair share of bruises and marks from where she'd reacted to various off color or opposing remarks he'd dare approach her with.
"The best way to deal with a disagreement is to face it head on," She answered, keeping her words slow and thought out. Jesus, she sounded like a friggin' self-help book, "Using words is important, especially in a confrontation. If we're going to get anywhere in this situation, we need to talk things out, not fight among ourselves, right?"
She sat back, pleased with her answer.

The psychologist flipped a fourth card, tapping the paper with her pen as to wordlessly signal for Lola to yet again guess at what the mystery inkblot picture would reveal about her apparently bug-obsessed personality.

4.
"Um." Okay, this one was weird. Well, weirder than all the other ones she'd seen, bug or no. It was almost embarrassing, trying to tell this doctor what she immediately saw in it. Though, hell, she was probably already being judged for it, what's the point in trying to be smart about this crap now anyhow.
"Honestly...looks like a big scary clown face. Kind of gives me the heebie jeebies."
Ethics Test
4. Another faction member that you have not yet met is being beaten to death. How do you react?
One eyebrow rose at the question - was that really a question?
"What kind of a stupid question is that?" The words flew out of her mouth before she had the time to censor them. But it was true - after all, who the hell would just sit back and let another human being die in this bullshit apocalypse anyhow? A human was a human being!
"Of course I'd help them - faction or not. I mean, bonus points for it being one of my team mates, but if they're someone who needs help, why wouldn't you help them? It's common ******** sense. There's only a handful of us left - we gotta stick together!"
