Another day, another routine chore for the Mall. The imminent threat of the infected outside made sleeping at night a "wee bit" hard. This just meant sometimes you were up to hear the work of the infected at night, the struggling against the barricades. Not great for morale really, but Sunny had high hopes the unified work of the faction would keep them safe.
Treasured radio by her side and ridiculous faction uniform equipped, Sunny left the store she had made home in and entered the Mall hallways. She was ready to do her part. It would be a good day, she thought.

Tools for the barricading were starting to get scarce. It wasn't like they had an endless supply in this mall, what with all the entrances and constant build, tear-down, rebuilding going on. Trying to be creative, Sunny walked down the halls and squinted thoughtfully at every little thing that had potential.
A disembodied mannequin arm? Sunny picked it up and gave it a look over. Maybe good for swinging at infected if you're desperate. Not so much for barricading unless you were to wedge it through door handles. She patted the hand and whispered, "Sorry," before leaving it there on the floor.
Sunny spotted an empty plastic cover of some drink dispenser. Must have gotten dragged over from a foot court. It'd be great for holding water if you could manage not to accidentally tip it on its open side. Well, that and if they had any drinkable water. It was really advised not to interact with what running water they had so Sunny REALLY didn't intend to. She gave it a mindless kick with her foot and kept walkin'.
Eventually she wandered upon a knee high round table sitting in the middle of the hall. Hmm, she thought. These look like those things that the potted plants sit on for decoration. Sunny was surprised it was even still here. If it could hold a big potted plant, it was probably good enough for a barricade. Pleased with herself, she placed her hands on the table wedge and pushed.
Unfortunately the wedge didn't budge.
Sunny gave it another hard shove. "C'mon," she huffed. To no avail, it stayed in its place. Sunny slumped on the wedge and sighed, "Darn it." She pondered what to do.
How was she supposed to move this thing? Leaning down between her legs, Sunny looked under the wedge to find it was fixated on the floor. "Potted plants don't even NEED that much support."
She rolled her eyes. but it only took a second before she bounced back up with a spark. "The potted plant!" Sunny looked down the hall and around the walls for the potted plant.

If she could find the potted plant with at least the dirt still in there, Sunny knew she could drag it and use it as a sturdy ground block.
Halfway down the hall, Sunny spotted the pot on its side. Quickly, she scurried over so she could examine it. Please please please don't be broken.
Rolling it around and inspecting the object, she could see some cracks but nothing too devastating. The dirt was strewn about (and she helped it by mindlessly rolling the pot around) but she was please. Sunny grabbed the rim of the pot and pulled in upright. Surprisingly, it almost came to her waist.
"Wow you're a big pot." She was talking to it. Not even a plant. The pot.
Looking at the dirt on the floor, Sunny knew it wasn't worth two trips and started scooping it in with her hand. It'd made the pot heavier and dragging it to the entrance she'd barricade a slower trip, but she didn't much think about that.
Rather ineffectively and making herself filthy, she put as much dirt as she could back in and began slowly dragging the pot to an entrance barricade. Eventually she made it and shoved the potted plant up against it best she could.
Well, it wasn't really a potted plant anymore. I suppose just a very large 'jar' of dirt.
Sunny patted the pot with self satisfaction. "Make me proud," she whispered to it. Please. I mean, really.. she didn't want the barricade to break.
