In an effort to recover from her horrible performance on the paintball field Autumn decided it was laundry time. Clean clothes and a clean blanket would make the day better. Help her rest easy, maybe even sooth her nerves a little. But really she really wanted to forget her failure with the paintball.
Laundry was something she could do. Laundry was normal. She'd been doing laundry for years, after all.
So she started like she always had- by shoving the clothes into the washer. She tossed a blanket in on top. It wasn't like the blanket was very thick or anything. Basic of the basic, here. Detergent went in on top of that. Hrm. She wasn't doing quite a full load...so it stood to reason that she could use a little less detergent than suggested on the package. Maybe she didn't use quite enough, but honestly Autumn wasn't thinking too deeply about how much detergent to use. What were they going to to do when they ran out of detergent? How long would the detergent last?
Shaking her head, Autumn pushed those thoughts aside. It would last as long as it had to. Just like the bleach would. And she
was adding bleach to this load, because she wanted things to be clean and pretty. Well, as pretty as they could be. Just a hint of bleach would do, because that was-- Oop.
It appeared that Autumn's nerves were indeed affecting some of her finer motor skills, at least that was what she though. A little shake, and the bleach just kind of spilled in. Not gobs worth, but more than she'd intended. "I'm...I'm sure it's fine. Just extra...sanitary." Yeah, that made sense.
Extra bleach was less embarrassing than failing at paintball, anyway.
"Fabric softener next," she said, reaching for the bottle with grin. This would help make everything better. Nice soft clothes, a nice soft blanket. As soft as the prison blanket could be, anyway. Yes. Perfect.
She didn't spill any of this, and she put in just enough. It was tempting to add extra...but the bottle said not to so Autumn listened. She didn't need to screw this up any more.
When it was all set to go, Autumn sat there, staring at the machine. The water noises were rather soothing. Normal. So normal. It was nice.
