Autumn decided the treadmill might be the safest bet. Keep the cardio up, but less strain on her leg.
She started slowly, as she knew she should. Sadly, even forcing herself to go slowly left too much room for thinking.
How long had they been here? How much longer would they stay? What was going on outside those walls? The city was lost, she knew that much. Between her own guesses and from what she'd heard others say. But what about beyond the city? She hadn't grown up here. A little more north, a small little town. How was her family? Did they wonder about her? Were they safe enough to wonder about her. Autumn had to admit it had been three full days before she'd taken the time to think about them. That wasn't something she was proud of, but it was a fact. Survival had been foremost on her mind those first few days.
Survival was still important, but it was wearing her down. The fence duty, the caged in feel, the greyness of the sky. It was all slowly getting to her.
"No," she whispered. She couldn't' think about it. She just had to do it. Live it. Survive. Keep training, keep trying.
She pushed a button on the treadmill, ready to take it a little faster. Or so she thought.
"Ah!" A hop, a skip, another hop and she was off the thing. Her leg muscle was not too keen the treadmill.
"Well hopefully I won't have to run today."
