Description: Malls are big, and there's more than enough room for every Mall Rat to make their home there, and your home can always use improvements! Collect some supplies, find a safe space to sleep through the night, and, well. Make yourself at home away from home.
Goals:
Step 1: MAKE IT HABITABLE.
You as a survivor need to find something that will work as a bed, something to store your personal items in, and a way to get some privacy for changing. (No washrooms, because no store in the mall has enough space to dedicate an employee-only bathroom). That and people keep taking your furniture to help reinforce the barricades... Looks like it's time to replace everything again.
Roll 1d10. If even, you succeed. If odd, don't worry! Just roll again till you get even. If you have to roll more than 3 times, consider it done, and you can move on!
Step 2: MAKE IT DEFENSIBLE.
Use any loose items you can find to protect the front of the store you've set up in. While most of the mall is safe, there are some shops that aren't, and you've got to prepare for the worst.
Roll 2d4 until they match. If you have to roll more than 3 times, consider it done, and you can move on!
Step 3: MAKE IT DEFENDABLE.
With another survivor played by another player or one you NPC, check the strength of your defenses.
Both roll 1d10. The higher roll determines the outcome. If the barricades stay up, you get 1 bonus Arcade Token for completing the quest. Otherwise repeat Step 2 until your dice matches, then try Step 3 again to make sure it can withstand the "assault."
If you have to roll more than 3 times, consider it done, and you can move on!
Step 3: MAKE IT LIVABLE.
There is an IKEA in the mall, and that means you get to raid it for furniture! ...Easier said than done, though.
Find the kind of furniture you want! Feel free to just RP it out and pick what you want! Escape the labyrinth: Roll 2d6 till they match. Find the boxed version you need to put together: Roll 1d20 till you get an even number. Put the furniture together: Roll 1d20 till a 15 or higher.
If you have to roll more than 5 times, consider it done! Congratulations!
First time doing this quest? Please write a minimum of 100 words for 1 Arcade Token.
Repeating? Minimum word count jumps up to 300 in order to claim your 1 Arcade Token.
Feeling wordy? Go above and beyond the bare minimum for additional tokens! You need to meet this word count while doing the quest, so no going back to pad your quest to claim tokens! These token bonuses do not stack, so you can't write 100 words to claim 1 token, then add 300 words to claim 2 more tokens.
500 words = 2 Arcade Tokens. 600 words = 3 Arcade Tokens. 700 words = 4 Arcade Tokens. 800 words = 5 Arcade Tokens.
Whistle While You Work: You can absolutely work on living quarters with someone else, even if you don't intend to stay with them. You will have to both roll for your own successes, but it does mean you get good company!
Even Mall Rats can be plagued by bed sores. You'll know it when you woke up and can't feel anything but your back creaking after sleeping on some linoleum floor.
Alright. This is the third time for this month alone.
"WHO DA HECK TOOK OFF MY SHELTER!?" He yelled to the open space before him. The heavy oak table he carried with utmost effort from the depths of IKEA (thank god he's an employee there) has been taken away, as well as numerous amount of planks attached to it. He knew that everyone has daily task of maintaining the barricade, but THIS IS NOT IT WORKS.
At least they don't take his worktools. Sigh.
"Time to move again, eh?" He muttered to nobody and looked at his watch. Hrmm. Still have few hours until his watchduty.
Now, where should he make his new 'house'? It should be somewhere close to the main exit, somewhere safe, somewhere quiet...
WHY NOT AT FRONT OF IKEA?
That's a great idea, he thanked himself. Scurrying while taking as many tools his hands can fit (that somejerk also took his trolley), Saul walked to the store that claims people.
Navigating it with ease, he opened the backdoor where extra items are stashed and pulled out a memory-foam mattress. This'll do.

Now that he has the bed, he need to erect an outer wall. Which should be hard but easy to remove from the inside in case of danger. He surely don't want to get barbecued inside a metal object, for better or worse.
After walking around the DIY corner, he decided to make simple, block-shaped walls like those on some game which sounds like a Hitler's book, but easy to open from the inside. Heck, it can't be opened from outside. Howzzat.

He has built this good enough, but... -it doesn't mean anything if it can be broken easily. Hmm. Ah, good thing. There's another Mall Rat passing here for materials. "Sorry, but can you test this for me-"
"KSORRYTHANKSBYE!"
With a blurred motion, that person quickly disassembled his cube and took the materials off. "YOU *************** DIP****!!! *** ********* ******!!!"
Okay, let's skip until he's calmer.

While grumbling and cursing, Saul ventured further into the shop and searched for better materials. The stack inside is dwindling steadily, so he should save the best for the last. Good thing probably nobody knows how to access the storage space inside.
Taking out some plywood and wood glue, he...returned them to the spot after reading the glue's setting time. Ain't nobody got time for that.

"Hrrmm. Will this work..." He mumbled to himself, taking apart two canoes from the outdoors corner and piled them one atop another. Practicality-wise it's good, mobility-wise it's also good, defense-wise it's good-
Okay, time for another testing. But this time---

"Hey, you. Yea. You there. Come here and try this." He called, while hiding his smirk.
"K THANKYOU-"
SNAP
*grin*
The sleeping bag-like shelter suddenly exploded...no, opened and some cage-like protrusions suddenly snapped into place, capturing the Rat into place.
The surrounding people took a step back seeing that. "Let's make a deal. No one should touch my belongings..." He said again, while glaring around, making his threat known. "-y'all know what will happen. Right?"
All of them nodded vigorously with face pale.

Back to the home depot corner, Saul was conflicted.
He made the shelter small and compact to be mobile-it can even be folded to fit a trolley should the need arises, but that makes it hard to find a suitable furniture for its size.
-not to mention, his tools needs a place where it can be both easily retrieved AND save from the grabby hands of another.
HRMMMMM.

A nightstand...no, there's no free power plugs near here. How about a small locker? Which kind of 'Small' can accommodate all of his tools? Why, it's better to get toolbox for that. So a toolbox, maybe a briefcase for items...no, he can't use his arms freely...backpack? Mmmm...but if you'll going to run, a backpack actually weighs you down. A waistpouch?
...wait. What did he was working on again? Dangit.

Oh, right. He was looking for some furniture for his shelter. Since the theme was mobility, he needs to pick things that can be tidied quickly. So...how about some folding things? He knew there's still some of them at the storage area...
