Cardio:

Always remember rule number 1. Cardio. Seeing how we have a gym at our disposal, there's really no reason to not keep yourself in top condition, especially during times like this. You need to do a minimum of 300 words among all steps to claim the rewards.

Step 1: Warm up
It's always important to warm up before you exercise. You wouldn't want to pull a muscle, after all.
Roll 1d4
1. Ouch! Seems like you might have overdone it a bit. -3 to your work out roll.
2-3. You've warmed up adequately. Time to get to work. No modifier.
4. You've done an excellent job. Your body is perfectly primed for what's ahead. +3 to your work out roll.

Step 2: Working out
Roll 1d20 and choose a cardio exercise of your choice. Running, jump rope, ect, ect. Then RP it out according to your dice results. Add or subtract whatever modifiers you might have had from the previous step.
1-5: You tried to work out, but you ended up hurting yourself more than anything else. + 0 Bars.
6 -15: You get a decent workout. Not amazing, but it's still something to help keep you in shape. +2 bars
16-20: Great job! You feel invigorated and strong for this vigorous workout. +4 Bars.

Candice needed to keep busy. She had just recovered from her morning run in the yard when she passed by the gym. Keeping in shape seemed smart, but would it be enough when it came down to it? At least she'd try. If it came down to it, she'd run as far as she would have to to survive.

Her muscles were already pumped but she knew not to skimp out on warm-ups. She also knew she should have taken a break, but a more thorough workout couldn't hurt right?

Wrong. Candice should have waited, but she was still feeling the adrenaline from earlier and started right into some ankle bounces to warm up. She landed weird and snapped out a curse as she bent down to feel the throbbing foot. She waited a moment before testing her weight on it. It still smarted, but she'd live. Candice had already made her mind up so she'd continue with her plans, even with the twinge in her ankle.

She stayed toward more stretches than anything else for the remainder of her warm-ups.

Her ankle still throbbed a little, but she pushed past it and decided to work with the jump rope. Candice aimed to do at least three sets of several minute long jumps. Normally she'd change up her jumps, but her ankle resisted every hop so she stuck to the straightforward jumps. A sup-par workout was better than nothing.

She was thankful that it was still distracting enough. Her breathing and rhythmic jumping blocked out most of the other sounds and she was able to focus on her feet hitting the ground. The longer rests between sets sent her worrying about the future. Being in the prison was ironic, it felt more like a prison then it ever had before. At the very least she knew the place well and was secure inside it. She could find some small sliver of comfort from that.

Candice was a little excited at the recent announcement from the boss. She'd do almost anything to get back some authority. She was having a really hard time being on the same level as them. She had always thought herself to be pretty nice with the inmates, but when it came down it she did view them with some disdain. They were the ones who got themselves here she had to remind herself over and over again, While she would admit some of them were good people, most of them weren't, and she did not like their get out of jail free card.

They were not all the same and she would prove it. Candice needed to work toward something and the new promotions gave that too her. She went through her warm-up with a steady determination and it payed off.

Candice was feeling good after her warm-up and felt confident she could get a good workout out of this session. She decided to work on the machines, specifically the stair stepper. She would get a larger amount of muscles worked with that then just running,

At least most of the inmates were in here for petty crimes, and that wouldn't give them a large amount of skills above her own in this place. She had become much less open since the outbreak, uncharacteristically quiet and to herself. Honestly her whole life had been torn to pieces and she was still trying to figure out where she fit in it all. Candice huffed out a vocal sigh and tried to stop herself from overthinking. She could and should focus on her workout.

After a good half-hour she felt the comforting burn and stepped off the machine. It had been a satisfying workout. She just had to stick to a schedule and stop worrying about everything. That was easier said then done of course as she was already thinking she should have added in more arm exercises.
