DAY ZERO ENTRY PROMPT:
He had been working in the apartment building's garage downstairs, when the garage door suddenly opened. It was late and he was working on his own motorcycle, when the electricity vanished. It was a personal project and the apartment manager didn't mind, as long as the garage was left clean and the noise level was down. Turning on the flashlight that was in his tool kit, he saw a person's silhouette. He put down his tools, squinting at the unrecognizable black figure.
"Sorry, garage security isn't here." Security shift change was due in fifteen minutes, so there was no reason someone should accidentally be coming in. Another person joined them? He squinted, trying to make out the silhouettes right outside of the shop. But before he realized it, one ran up to the other, with alarming vengeance. Grayson was used to these fights - but something told him that this wasn't a normal fight, that he should run. Perhaps it was the way the body took the hits, without resistance .. Or was it the way that blood seemed to abnormally spill from his mouth like no tomorrow.
As he ran out of the apartment's garage, in a few steps, he realized that the entire street was taken over. With the infection he heard about? He didn't know - and he didn't care to find out. There were too much outside, he didn't have time to figure out if there was anybody he could help. Immediately, the lever was pulled to close the garage door, the door closing alarmingly slow, as Grayson prayed for it to close faster.
He slammed the desks against he garage door before it fully closed, creating a barricade. When the final slam of metal against concrete sounded, he realized he was in the mechanic garage completely alone. He would have to wait until morning, from the small slivers under the garage door. His back against his motorcycle, he took deep breathes. Nothing should get through that garage .. but perhaps he would stay up for a little while more just in case.
