Shanghai Danger Level: None
Shanghai: the city of dreams. This place glows like some sort of iridescent oasis in the desert. The fog that seems to sweep through the city blends the bright lights and their colors and paints a surreal landscape that can only be believed if it has been seen. Many who come to the city for the first time are awestruck by the strange atmosphere that hangs about it, but those who grew up are more taken aback by the clarity and normalcy of the regular cities. The towers of the city spark like lightning bolts, charged with the raw energy that the aliens utilized to power their Ark. Whereas Paris has the highest trained engineers in the world, Shanghai is home to the best scientists. They have come much closer to understanding the alien technology and intelligence than any of the other countries, and most of the buildings and industry are self-sufficient. They run themselves completely without the need of human tampering, causing laboring jobs in factories and plants to become nearly extinct.
There are more than a few rumors that the aliens have taken over Shanghai already, and that the move for so much of the A.I. controlled factories and power plants was a move for them to completely grip hold of the city. These rumors are made much more believable when coupled with the fact that the Mayor of the city has not been seen, only heard in broadcasted messages, for quite some time. There are public records and scientific information databases in shanghai that go into details about all sorts of interesting A.I. Core types, and if you ask the right people here, you may even learn how to find exactly the kinds that you are looking for. Though, it is all about who you know, and what it is that you are looking for.

Akio sat in the train up to the main base in Asia with perhaps the most irritated expressions that has ever graced his face. There were at least three spaces next to him on either side that remained empty on the at-capacity train. In his headphones he listened to quiet music, symphonic melodies drifting in and out of his ear holes as he listened. It was a long day for him. He had an early flight from Hokkaido so he could make it to Shanghai on time for his new status in the wonderful B.A.I.T.R. Oh how he looked forward to risking his life to have an AI placed inside of him. Akio sighed. No, he actually didn't look forward to that process, but more to what came after. What he was interested in was expanding his horizons to the highest extents possible, which only meant that he had to risk his life. However, he wanted to stop for some coffee first. Early mornings were never his idea of a good time.
The train he was on grinded to a halt, causing him to jerk in his seat. At least he didn't have his coffee. The voice that usually came in these damn trains then spoke in a clear tone, albeit in another language that he begrudgingly learned, saying he was at his stop. Akio stood, grumbling about getting better train systems and something about people and leaving him alone. The second the train stopped, everyone forgot how intimidated they were by him, and swarmed in on the exits. He had to push his way through, all for a damn cup of coffee and his stupid job. "Ore wa kono tawagoto ga jizoku shinai negatte imasu..." He muttered, practically spitting the words. Perhaps it was just the morning rush. Perhaps this place was still just as overpopulated as it was years and years ago. Though why that was a thing, he actually had no idea. The reason why he was so interested in this company, in this path of life, was because of how self sufficient it was, and how incredibly in depth the science was there. Whatever, the people were not what mattered here.
After he had received his wonderfully strong iced coffee to remind him just how cold his home in Hokkaido had already gotten, he began his long trek to the Asian Base that he was supposed to be at in about ten minutes. He showed up barely on time, after asking at least five different help desks where he was supposed to go, just in case, you know? Finally, he was able to walk into the room he was supposed to be, taking a long sip of his still chilled coffee. "Kawaguchi Akio?" The woman at the table asked, placing his family name before his given, which he was wildly grateful for. "Yes." He confirmed, signing in and the woman double checking it was actually him. "Wonderful. You will have to wait a maximum of five minutes before the operator comes in. Then they will begin with the necessary preparations. There is a trash can right over there for when you finish your coffee, sir." Akio simply nodded, walking to where the trash can was to finish the drink off, "oh, and please, leave your luggage over here. You will not need them in there."
Nodding, he tossed his empty cup into the can, and sauntered over to where he was asked to place his luggage, then dropped his bag. He didn't bring much, and he didn't feel it was necessary. He brought clothing, which was essentially just a vast array of black shirts and pants all of the same style, toothbrush, toothpaste, and a rather large amount of hair styling products. It was the one thing he could not live without.
But the woman at the desk was indeed correct, his wait time was less than five minutes before the 'doctor' came in, asking if he was Akio. "Kawaguchi, yes. That is me."
"Wonderful. Follow me." And that was what Akio did, following the doctor into the operating room where the procedure will take place in the moments that came after. "You said you wanted it to be a piece of body jewlery, yes?" Akio nodded, giving a silent confirmation, the doctor taking a note down in his clipboard. "We have the design ready for you. Did you receive the files with the images?"
Again, Akio nodded, "And approved."
The doctor made another quick note, before letting Akio into the room and telling him to lay down on the table that the full ordeal would take place. He was fairly confident in his abilities, but it was going to take place in his mind... How that would work out, he didn't know quite yet. The table was cold and hard, as expected, but suddenly his chest felt a little tight with fear. Sure, he could do it, but it was that small amount of doubt that hovered in his mind. Akio forced himself to push that fear aside as the doctor continued to explain the process of his operation and how the battle was going to work, then finally placing the mask on Akio. It was time to begin, so he did all he could do: Take a deep breath and close his eyes, letting whatever was to come, come.

Initiation RollAs the young man, with rather good smelling hair, had come into the room the doctor had made sure to go over the procedures making sure Akio knew he would be instantly knocked out for the process. This was an appointment as usual for the men and women joining the elite ranks of the B.A.I.T.R forces trying to save the world, and for that the doctor was thankful. Messages of a couple other rush ones had been passed around so the Code Cores created in haste were uploaded into the system for future use. They were interesting none the less. The doctor cleared his mind by mentally shaking his head and took the odd shaped 'jewelry' from the N.I.C.E machine to walk over to the young man who already had his eyes closed. "I am just going to attached the mask to you then you will be in your dream." He stated matter of factually then did just as he said. In moments Akio would be out. The doctor went about putting the Code Core correctly on the mans body and brought the blue lighted cylinder over. It made a bubbling sound as the container reached the Code Core and the A.I. Core connected going right for the mans mind. It was hungry, there was no time to waste. The A.I. core looked around with its poor vision seeing only the swirling darkness as Aiko's mind started to create the battle ground. Turn 1The Crushtacean pointed feet skittered about a few times not able to figure out just what kind of ground it was standing on. The human host was still mentally forming the area and nothing was solid, but the darkness. It wondered, hoped even, if the human would be so kind to have them in the water. It was so much easier to move the large claws around. The A.I. Core was known for taking fishermen unaware on the shores, or tearing holes in the hull of boats and ships to make them sink. So long ago it had been free to roam the waterways of Earth where the humans out of need had always been close to. The A.I. resting on its large claws could look a very tall man in the face, though it looked much heavier than it actually was. Its strong outer shell gave it plenty of resistance as it cam in close to bash and pinch its food to surrender before eating it. The Crushtacean knew it had been weakened while in the holding container by the humans and was being used for the initial testing for the humans to fight and destroy the A.I.'s. The Crushtacean would not have that! The Crushtacean smelled the man sweat, even just a natural sweat of humans gave off the sweetest smell, and the A.I. core started in the direction of Aiko moving rapidly. Almost faster than it should have by its size. The world was still forming around the A.I. but with its sensor nodes more focused on scent and heat the scene playing around it was not too much concern. Food, and more so importantly, killing this human so it could not go on was the main focus for the Crushtacean. Getting close to the human it made no war cry but snapped its right pincer and swung heavily with it's left wanting to knock the man down to the ground. Then the real fun could begin! Turn 2 10-10 = 1 (100-1=99%) x3 MISSEDThe mind of the man the Crushtacean was in formed as the charge had happened. The oddly colored house with its elegant beauty had surrounded the A.I. And the heavy feeling of snow seemed to hover just outside. Though the A.I. Had no care for the way the setting was. It's hunger was fueling it, and any place was a good place to enjoy munching on a humans bones freshly cracked open. As the quick swing came down Akio rolled away as if it was nothing. The large claw looked much heavier than it was, but a smack by it would still have hurt due to the very hard and spiky shell. When the A.I.'s had decided on this form after a crab it had taken what it thought were the good bits, but at least it had a 'brain' instead of just a bundle of nerves. The human even had the nerve to talk! The Crushtacean understood the words but its processor to speak back was not functioning properly so instead it blew bubbles out of its mouth, as a crab does when they feel stressed or threatened. If they had been in water a stream would have come out instead. Then the bamboo sword was quickly picked up and for a moment the A.I. Did not understand why something that matched the floor so well was being swung around. However, the smack to the face was easily deflected with a lifting of its large arm letting the sword harmlessly bounce off. The kick almost caught the A.I. By surprise but it scurried its pointed feet backwards moving just out of the way. When the sword came towards the leg its claw quickly caught it and squeezed hoping to splinter and break it down some if it could, though it did not spend long worried about the sword. As it was squeezing the sword the Crushtacean's free claw cam swinging quickly once more going for the ribs wanting them to crack and splinter. He remembered the time he could barely manage to walk over a month ago after having just been released from the hospital, but now he has fully grown accustomed to his new body and it's muscles, joints and bones. While he has made a great recovery as well as progress, he was still being monitored for precautionary and informational purposes. This sort of all in one synthetic, artificial and cybernetic body has never been attempted before; at least not for replacing whole flesh, much less an entire human body. Individual limbs such as arms and legs long existed ago and only required bionics to create rather than replacement tissue, muscle and blood. Satoru's case was definitely a risky one, but here he was today alive and well. Reaching over to the control panel to press a few buttons, his speed slowed to a stop. It relieved him that could use a treadmill and any other sort of exercise equipment provided here at the center without being hooked up to wires and sticky suction cups. Again, he understood it was so he cold be monitored and studied, but it didn't mean it hadn't annoyed Satoru in the past. Not to mention how small the rooms were when they trialed him through physical tests. Grabbing a towel he had, he then wiped the bit of sweat that formed over his brows. Glancing over to a clock hanging on the wall across from him, it was getting close to that time. Not planning on being late, he headed for the showers first; not at all taking long. Afterwards, he met up with his escort, informing him he was ready for leave and was driven to Shanghai's B.A.I.T.E.R. base.
Today was the official test in becoming a B.A.I.T.E.R. following the footsteps of his mother and father. At first, his mother was against the idea of him joining the bureau, realizing he would be putting his life at stake again after he had just escaped death. Satoru saw first hand what the battlefield was like and he didn't want to see it continue. He wanted to save as many lives as he could so all of the suffering would one day come to an end. Upon arriving at headquarters, he of course met up with his mother there, Hitomi. She was of course still reluctant in allowing her son to go through with the procedure, telling him it still wasn't too late to change his mind, but his mind was made up. He appreciated her concern though and tried to comfort her that he would make it through; he just had to. Giving her son a hug, he was then shown the way to the lab room, a couple of questions being brought to Satoru's attention along the way. The most important one was his Code Core; crafted and provided by the same doctor behind his operation. Confirming by photo that it was indeed one and the same device, everything was soon up and ready to go. Getting asked to lay on the bed to his right, he pulled himself up on it then lied down flat on his back. A mask was placed over his mouth and nose next and within a couple of breaths did his eye lids start to grow heavy. Following further instructions to relax and keep an even breath, Satoru eventually succumbed to sleep. ▎ ▎ █ ▎ ▏ ▎ █ █ ▎ ▏ ▎ ╫ ▏ █ ▎ ▏▎ ▏ █ ▎ ▎▏

Turn 3 10-10 = 1 (100-1=99%) x3 The Crushtacean was getting irritated. It could not land a hit on this human, who had come close to hitting it several times now. The pretty boy dodged his attack with ease it seemed, even though he had to be looking at something since his eyes did not meet the A.I.'s for the most part. The bamboo floor was getting scratched as the large claws had been swung around in attacks as well as blocking the ones coming in. Then the eyes locked and the Crushtacean blew bubbles once again with an odd gurgling sound. It would keep the fight from going outside if it could, the confines of the house did keep the A.I. From being able to swing itself but maybe it was also keeping Akio from being able to move to his full potential. Though the attack was quick from the talking and the human had almost taken the Crushtacean by surprise. The quick jab at the legs caught it so that it stumbled and had to fight for its footing. The little whap from the sword stung slightly as the vibrations went through the smaller legs. Thankfully the hit was not enough to make it fall so the large A.I. Kept the stumble going to avoid the next strike that once more bounced harmlessly off the hard shell. When the final strike came the Crushtacean had it's bearings on its feet once more and when the foot came as a kick towards the shoulder the A.I. Grabbed the mans ankle tightly enough only to control the way the human moved. With Akio's ankle in it's grip the Crushtacean pulled him closer and its other claw came forward with all the speed it could muster opened and wanting to latch around his upper thigh wanting to slow the smug talking human down. Initiative Roll The doctors watched the man they had been waiting for walk into the office. He was somebody that they had spent a lot of time with, and were very familiar with. His body was almost entirely synthetically compromised, due to the fact that he had been in a horrible accident during combat, and saved his mother's life by shielding her with his own body. They all knew she carried a lot of guilt from it, and seeing her boy here, willingly giving himself over to a procedure that only had a 60% survival rate, it was probably making it even more difficult on her. As he walked in, the doctors greeted him happily and they gave him a once over, looking over his body and making sure it was in top shape before they began the testing. When they spoke about what his code core was going to be, the doctor who had specifically designed the synthetics that his body were made of stepped in, and they went over exactly what the mechanism was that would be hooked into his neck. This mechanism would be what contained the A.I. that they placed into his body, and being so close to his brain, it was likely that whatever they inserted into his Code Core was going to viciously attack his mind right away. As they gassed him and hooked the Code Core into his spinal column on the back of his neck, a lab assistant brought the container up from Containment. The small flask-like object was black in colour, and the spout was shaped like a beak. As they lowered the container to the back of Satoru's neck, as soon as the beak made contact with the Code Core it seemed to open up and the code flooded out of the mouth and directly into the Code Core, immediately surging into his mind.
The Zerox was a highly respected core type in the hierarchy of things, as it knew how to command a battlefield. But that did not mean that it did not also know how to fight on one. The crescent bladed staff that it carried had range as well as power, and it would not feel remorse in cutting down any foe. The bird-like core slowly walked through the mind of its enemy, searching for any sign of the man it was to combat. They had used it for a test, but they would rue the day that they chose it to be their guinea pig. As it walked through the shadows of Satoru's mind, everything seemed like it was in some sort of a dark haze, there, but not there. The Zerox knew that the man had not yet fully become conscious, and until he woke, truly, the world around them would not take form. However, Zerox did not wait for him to appear, he stalked the darkness until he had finally crossed the man and when he did, he slammed the end of his staff into the ground and stood in a commanding pose as he looked at the enemy. "Greetings." The Core spoke, a smirk crossing its beaked face. Quote: ZeroxB.A.I.T.R Standing: 14 Health: 180/180 Skill: 10 Strength: 8 Defense: 8 Tactical Advantage:Commander: You command the battlefield with superior strategy and intellect, giving your allies an edge in combat. So, your first post, you will set the battlefield that you want the fight to take place in, as you will be fighting within your own mind. Good luck! ^__^ Also, now that you are taking your first battle post, you can start to double your lines. ^__^ So after you calculate your lines for your post, you double it before adding it to your total line count. =]

Turn 4 10-10 = 1 (100-1=99%) x3 MISSEDHow the human had managed to get out of it's grasp and stay in them all at the same time baffled the Crushtacean. It was nothing but a weak human who was trying to get into the human program to try and rid the world of all the A.I.'s because they were mad the technology they had made was turning on them. They were not as logical thinkers as they thought they were. Ruled by pure emotion the lot of them! The damned human even thought while the Crushtacean held him in its grasp that it would would that to attack it! The non metal sword came bashing down at it's eyes and it simply kept hold of his thigh and jerked him to the side some to keep the jab from hitting, otherwise it would have been much too painful. When the kick came the Crushtacean simply let go of the man roughly wanting that to throw him off balance. A nat. That was what the human male reminded the Crushtacean of. Another swat should do the trick. Trying not to give the man room to move away it took the broad side of its large claw once more and attempted to smack him good across his body. Turn 5 10-10 = 1 (100-1=99 - 15 = 84%) x3 MISSED The Crushtacean had thrown the man wanting him to stumble and not be able to catch himself so the large claw could smash him onto the ground hard enough to finally do some damage. However the cocky human laughed at him and sprinted away. The A.I. Bubbled up again showing its disgust with the human. He was all spry and seemed to not be taking the fight seriously. Did he not know he could never wake from this dream if he continued as such? Though the Crushtacean was not one for a fair fight at all, it still would like to be able to see some damn terror in the mans face and be able to taste that as it took a bite. Hmmmm.... the Crushtacean almost missed the man swinging at him again with the odd sword wondering if the man had even thought to get something that might do some damage as well. The first swing came from no where it seemed and had no real aim either from what the A.I. Could tell. It simply skittered back making the strike that came next for it's face hit nothing but the air. There was not much room in the house but the Crushtacean moved with grace that did not seem like it should posses. As the kick came the Crushtacean simply swung its claw forward quickly to bounce the foot off so the man could feel some pain, not enough to do damage but to hopefully scare him a bit. The Crushtacean could not even imagine being used to help this sad man in his fights. Letting the anger build up in him more he charged forward letting his claws be to the side more and going in to take a bite out of the mans shoulder. The attacks with the claws were not working, and it wanted blood now.
