G Y M- L E A D E R - G U I D E
- A Gym Leader (Japanese: ジムリーダー Jimu Rīdā) is the highest-ranking member and owner of an official Pokémon Gym. A Gym Leader will usually specialize in one specific type of Pokémon (the only known exception being Blue) and uses them to test the skills of trainers that challenge them. Every Gym Leader holds a unique badge for the trainers that prove their skills to them or defeat them in battle. When a trainer has a total of eight badges, they can compete in their regional League or challenge their region's Elite Four. There are a total of eight Gym Leaders in each region, usually all eight gym leaders in a region will specialize in a different type of Pokémon, the only type not appearing so far (Gen 1-6) being Dark, although certain types are used for multiple gyms in different regions, the most recurring type for the first gym is Rock due to both Grass and Water being super effective against it.
As shown several times, a Gym Leader is usually well involved with their community. When not at the Gym, a Gym Leader is usually involved in some type of work or service that the surrounding community is known for (this is usually more the case in the Anime series rather than the game series). When at the Gym, a leader will maintain the Gym itself, the Pokémon, the other members, and will battle any challenger.
[ Special Note 1 ] Gym Leaders are permitted to have a team of pokémon specifically made for gym battles. In the profile skeleton, there is an added section for you to copy and paste into your pokémon
[ Special Note 2 ] Trainers are not required to go through each gym in order since every trainer has a different journey than another. So There are 3 different categories that each Gym Leader must be aware of. The Basic, Intermediate, and Advanced teams.
--[ BASIC TEAM ] Basic Team are your weakest pokemon used to battle against trainers who are freshly new and have just started their journey. Because of them being new, you are their guide into the World of Pokémon. In the list of gym badges and their gym rankings, you will see their basic team level range. From there you may gauge how you want to set up your intermediate and advanced teams.
xxxBasic Teams are for trainers who have 0-2 gym badges / Pokemon Level Cap of 20
--[ INTERMEDIATE TEAM ] Intermediate teams are set up if your battling trainer possesses some level of experience gauged on the number of badges they have already acquired. When it comes to levels, this team has a comfortable middle in between your basic and your advanced team.
xxxIntermediate Teams are for trainers who have 3-6 gym badges / Pokemon Level Cap of 35
--[ ADVANCED TEAM ] Advanced teams are set up if your battling trainer possesses a high level of experience and skill gauged on the number of badges they have already acquired. This team is usually against trainers who are well close on their way to challenging the Elite Four. To some leaders, this is the best team they formulated for battling against trainers.
xxxAdvanced Teams are for trainers who have 6-7 gym badges / Pokemon Level Cap of 55
Gym Leaders carry the role as a guide and even mentor for trainers who wish to take the path of honing their skills in battle. In the Pluto Region, Gym Leaders not only specialize in certain types but also specialize in certain focuses of battling that trainers need along their path. Every leader will have a special focus that every trainer will need to learn in order to defeat them. Examples of these focuses are double battles, status conditions, held items, etc...
[ Special Ruling ] Gym Leaders have teams based on opponents' acquired badges but they also have leniency on how strong they want to make those teams. The only requirement is that their intermediate and advanced teams cannot exceed/surpass the Level Range of the first Elite Four member. However, they are able to use that same level range for their Advanced Teams
[ Special Ruling ] Gym Leaders also possess the freedom to create their own rulings that trainers must abide by before accepting challenges. Any special rulings will be provided below with the gym's focus.
