After her late night battle against the Kiandri dragons the angler Merkora had spent the rest of the beautiful night watching the stars and plotting her next move. She knew full well that, despite wanting nothing more then to put her plans into motion, that she couldn't yet. She had to bide her time, get stronger, and then and only then would she be able to take over her clan. Once she was the leader of the Deep Sea Clan then things would be changed for the better she thought to herself, tail lashing. She couldn't just take over though, she had to first prove herself, and the best way to do so would be to become a Merkorian. With that goal in mind, and resting up after her last fight, she was on her way to seek out more dragons. The more that she fought the more orbs she would be able to collect and the more orbs that she collected the better her chances or becoming Merkorian.
Heading along the sandy beach, keeping close enough to the ocean that she could at least hear it, Khaldera was on the hunt for more dragons. She could smell the on the wind, from various directions, and she felt that she'd find some of them with time and effort. The only down side to her hunting method was that she couldn't really charge up a spell and have it prepared for the up coming fight because she didn't know when that fight would take place. Instead she had to hope that she was able to see the dragons before they saw her, at least that way she would be able to get the jump on them and blast them with a well aimed spell. Just as she was thinking this a dark shadow went by a short distance in front of her, causing her to lift her head to seek the source.
It took her only a moment to spot a dragon over head, another Kiandri from the looks of it. It was hard to say if it had noticed her because it didn't seem as though it was circling overhead with any sort of ill intentions. If anything it just appeared as though it was enjoying a relaxing flight. Should she take a shot at the dragon or wait she found herself thinking a moment before the dragon suddenly changed its flight pattern, moving to circle downwards toward the ground. Eyes going wide she moved hurriedly toward where it appeared the dragon was going to land. A one on one battle on the ground was exactly what she was looking for. It would make taking orbs so much easier! An excited though that was dashed the moment she came up over the sand dune that stood between her and the dragon's landing zone. Standing there in the area were two other Kiandri dragons that were seemingly waiting for the third one.
"Hmm... not as easy as I had been hoping." It wasn't going to be just a matter of picking off one dragon now, was it? Instead it was a more complicated battle of Khaldera taking on a trio of dragons by herself. Not the first time that she had done so though, so maybe she didn't have to worry overly much? Giving a little rumbling sound she set to gathering dark energy into her throat, preparing an attack. She'd just gotten enough power together when the third dragon landed... and she immediately released the powerful blast of energy toward the trio of dragons in hopes of wiping them out.
The resulting explosion of power caused sand to get kicked up in all direction, covering the dragons as well as the area around them. The breeze that was blowing by carried the sand off with time revealing to Khaldera that she'd completely taken out one of the dragons with her attack. Even from this distance she could see the glittering orb that waited for her in the sand. As for the other two, they weren't doing their best now were they? Instead it appeared as though both of them were quite shaken, one of them still on the ground in a heap, possibly unconscious.
A bit of a grin appearing on her face she moved to charge forward toward the two dragons, gathering more power into her throat. She would deal with the dragon that was on its feet first, seeing it as the bigger threat of the two. The other one, which was seemingly too injured to rise, would be dealt with afterwards. Releasing the secondary blast of magic Khaldera was able to knock the dragon off if its feet, causing it to landing a heap. The moment that it had landed on the ground she went for the dragon's throat, her sharp teeth sinking in, finishing it off as swiftly as possible.
Her attention then turned to the third dragon that hadn't really reacted all that much to Khaldera's presence. Her tail swished as she approached, looking the dragon over, before quickly putting it down. No reason to leave it to suffer any longer then it already had. After the last dragon had been dealt with the angler merkora set about gathering up the trio of beautiful, glittering orbs that they'd dropped. She gave each orb a once over before grinning, "Lovely! Alright, time to find even more of these." She all but purred as she returned to walking along the beach once more.

Once again the dragon orbs that Khaldera had obtained from the three kiandri that she'd hunted down and killed were hidden under water where only she should be able to find them. Her collection what growing but she didn't feel that she had enough quite yet to obtain the power of a Merkorian. As such she was going to have to continue with her hunting. Eowyn, while not a land that she really cared for, seemed to have a surplus of dragons to fight with. It was something that she welcomed as she wanted to get her claws on as many dragon orbs. The more the merrier, not to mention the more that she gathered the stronger she would be once she was able to become a Merkorian. It was a thought that ever had her tail wagging behind her.
It was as she was walking along, contemplating her next fight, that she caught the scent of something new. Now it wasn't really a big thing, there were so many things on land she didn't know, but this new thing... it was another sort of dragon, wasn't it? Each dragon had their own personal scent that was tied to their clan, but deep down on a very primal level there was a scent that they all shared, the one that screamed 'dragon'. She could smell that particular scent, but as for what sort of dragon it was, it was most certainly not a Kiandri dragon. What sort then? If she had to guess, given the toasty, burnt smell that went along with the 'dragon' scent she'd say Firani. Not something that she'd ever faced off against personally since she was from a watery world, but it was most certainly something that now had her full and completely attention.
What were the Firani like? How did they fight? How big were they? What did their orbs look like? She had so many questions instantly swirling around in her head, questions that had her all but squirming in place before she started forward toward the source of the scent. She had never battled with a Firani but then again before coming to the surface she really hadn't fought with any dragons, had she? She'd, she'd helped her clan chase off dragons of the deep in a group, but that didn't count. The only one that benefited from those battles in the way of real battle experience and orbs were those who were leading the charge. That was just how things went she thought to herself. Now that she was on land everything she was fighting was all for her own benefit making her glad that she'd come alone... though there was that part of her that felt that having a breeder along to carry her things might have been a useful addition to her trip.
"Perhaps I should fetch one of them sometime soon." She muttered to herself as she continued along, pausing when she got nearer to the burnt scent of the Firani dragons, creeping closer to where she could now both hear and smell them. Peeking around a rocky outcropping she spotted a pair of the fiery red dragons drinking from an oasis. This was doubly good luck she thought to herself. Not only had she found the dragons that she would be fighting with next but she'd also found a source of fresh drinking water within the desert. She'd just have to claim it for her own, meaning dealing with this pair.
Ducking back behind the rocks Khaldera set to work gathering magical energy to herself. Best that she prepared her first attack in advance since she wasn't exactly sure how to go about battling the beasts. Getting the drop on them was always a great idea, no matter what she was fighting, so that was what she'd aim for here as well.

Sliding out from behind the large rocks that she stood behind while gathering her dark magical energy to herself, looking toward the two dragons that were still where she'd left them. She had worried, while gathering her power, that the pair would vanish while she wasn't looking at them. Seeing that they were still present though was a good sign, it meant that she was going to have a chance to get her claws on their orbs. Something that she was excited about since she'd never seen a Firani's orb before. Turning to face the pair she sent a blast of magical energy their way, hoping that she'd be able to kill them off in a swift manner, before they were any the wiser... but she wasn't so lucky this time around as she had been with the last group of Kiandri dragons that she'd tried such a tactic with.
This time around one of the two dragons dodged completely by launching itself into the air while the other one was only mildly injured, and greatly annoyed, by the attack that hit it. Not the results that she was looking for, but at least she had their attention now? Surely that meant that they wouldn't just run away since the pair of dragons didn't exactly seem like the cowardly sort. Given that they in fact looked to be quite ready, willing, and able to fight she set to work gathering more of her power, "Come on then, don't think about running away." Khaldera called out toward the pair of dragons before she moved to get herself running, knowing that standing still when facing off against any sort of dragon was the worst idea that one might have.
No, she meant to move as quickly as her feet would carry her, gathering her power as she went, so that she could take shots at the pair. It was one of those decisions that seemed to be a good one as the spot she'd just been standing was blasted with the raging fires spewed forth from the maw of the dragon she'd scuffed up. It was a really impressive display, showing that the fire of a Firani burned hot, so much so that it actually left a bit of a melted spot on the ground that now appeared to be glass! It was something she'd study later, after the battle, but for now she would instead focus on staying a step ahead of that first. Khaldera was a big fan of her beautiful, glittering hide, and she'd be damned if some nobody dragon damaged its beauty! Especially with fire... burn wounds weren't something that she had any sort of interest in!
Once she'd gathered enough energy for another attack she sent it toward the dragon that was still on the ground. Her aim wasn't going directly for the dragon though, instead taking aim at its feet. It was an attack that caused the sand to explode in all directions, and most importantly into the eyes of the Firani dragon. Partially blinded by the sand that Khaldera kicked up, it was made slightly less dangerous, and made it the initial target for the Merkora. She wanted to take that one out as swiftly as possibly to make it a one on one battle against the one that was in the sky... but a blast of flame that nearly hit Khaldera, told her the one that was flying wasn't just going to stand by while Khaldera killed its companion.
Not that she'd thought that she would be so lucky as to get to kill the Firani dragon without any hassle. No matter, she would kill them both in time, the order in which she did so was of no concern to her.

The dragon over head was using at tactic that Khaldera would greatly admire if it wasn't something that was being used against her. How she envied wings some days, the days that she was out hunting winged dragons mostly, but she wasn't about to trade her beloved gills for them or anything. Instead she had to do her best to dodge the circle strafing the dragon was doing in its attempts to burn the Merkora to a crisp. It was as she was running around in a rather willy-nilly manner that she realized that she wouldn't be able to keep it up forever. She'd need to get herself somewhere safe, somewhere that she would be able to catch her breath, and keep from being left in a pile of ash.
It was then that it clicked, the oasis. Sliding to a halt in the sand she turned herself around and went charging toward where the the glittering water was located. As she approached it she took a couple swipes at the dragon that she was forced to run passed, her claws raking over the dragon's skin. She got a rather hard smack in return, but it was worth it since it allowed her to once more get a shot in against the dragon on the ground before she was diving into the oasis. Just as she got herself under the water there was a blast of fire that had nearly gotten her. It was luck alone that saved her from being toasted, and gave her a moment to catch her breath and to gather her power again. It was something that she knew was dangerous, sitting in the water to recover, because she knew that while she was getting herself ready for the next attack that the Firani dragons were doing the same. It would be a matter of speed, something that she knew they would have the upper hand at since they were used to being on the ground as well as in the air. She'd just have to do her best to get a step ahead of them she thought to herself, tail lashing behind her.
Just above the water she could see the dragon that was still on the ground, having come to the edge of the water, seemingly sizing the situation up. Passed the land bound dragon was the one that was still circling over head, waiting for a chance to take a shot at Khaldera the moment that she came out of the water. She was in a rather precarious situation, one that she didn't care for in the least, but one that she had to get out of. She couldn't just sit here all day hoping that the pair would up and leave... not when she really, really wanted to get her claws on their orbs.
Due to that fact alone she knew that there was no way that she was just going to sit at the bottom of the oasis like a coward. No, she would come forth from the water like a raging storm and she would take these two dragons down in a hail of fangs, claws, and magic! That was the plan at least, now she had to get herself prepared to do just that. The running around and dodging of fire whilst being dragged down by sand had been a bit exhausting for Khaldera but at least she was starting to feel a bit more refreshed after her time in the water. It was just what she needed to get herself ready for her coming attack against the Firani. All she needed now was to gather sufficient magical energy and her attack against them would begin!

After gathering herself a great amount of magical energy, enough that she felt that she would be able to take on the pair, Khaldera launched herself forth from the cool depths of the oasis that she had been hiding inside of. The moment that she broken the surface she released a huge blast of magical energy from her mouth, leaving a wide divot in the sand as well as wiping out the dragon that had been waiting on the ground for her. She landed, then stumbled, her head spinning wildly after using such a powerful attack on the Firani dragon.
The sand around her was then pelted with fire, something that had her shrieking in surprise and pain before she forced herself to start moving once more. It was too hot, and far to painful, for her to just stand still. Running wasn't all that much better though, leaving her feeling a bit on the dizzy side. No matter though, she would just have to run it off was all. Once she was able to regain herself she moved to circle around toward where the first dragon had been 'taken care of' and gave the glittering Firani orb a little kick. The orb flew threw the air, falling into the safety of the oasis with a little 'splash' sound. Knowing that it would be there waiting for her helped her to keep moving forward.
As she moved she set to work gathering energy once more, despite the face that she was a bit on the tired side when it came to magical energy. She was a bit drained and wasn't going to be able to pull off anymore big spells. If anything she was going to have to get the strafing dragon to come down to the ground where she would be able to fight it with fang and claw given her magical power was nearly tapped. Her last spell was sent toward the dragon that was flying over head, the attack blowing through one of the Firani's wings, leaving behind a hole. It wasn't a massive injury but it did it's job, forcing the Firani to land. It didn't mean that things were going to be easy, far from it, but at least now she had a chance to win the battle even with her magical power spent.
The angry sound that the Firani made as it touched down was a rather glorious one. It was angry, wasn't it? Good, when creatures got angry they tended to also get stupid. It meant that she would be able to deal with it a touch easier since it's anger was going to lead it to do stupid things. At least she was really hoping that was what it meant. She wanted this battle to be over swiftly since she was now at a distinct disadvantage. Drawing in a deep breath, one that she held for a moment to get her thudding heart to a more normal pace, Khaldera prepared herself fro the battle ahead. To show that she wasn't afraid of the dragon, because she wasn't, she drew in a deep breath and gave a great roar at the dragon.
The dragon's teeth barred and it returned the gesture, roaring back at her, before he inhaled deeply, gathering power so that it could send a blast of fire her way. As it came her way she was already racing away, her eyes a bit wide, "Best to keep moving." She said to herself as she went, doing all she could to stay ahead of the dragon. She'd gotten a few burns from its sky attack, which stung, and she wasn't about to let it char her up anymore if possible.

Khaldera was on the move. It seemed to be the best way to go about the battle with the currently grounded Firani. She was moving as fast as she could in the sand, looking for openings, and any time that she found one she would rush in and take a shot at the dragon. Currently the beast had several various wounds here and there, deep ones from her claws, that were oozing with thick blood. They were wounds that showed that she was doing well enough against the dragon though she had yet to really cause any sort of wound that would have a lasting effect.
She had to get in closer, hit more vital areas, and hopefully she'd be able to get the dragon to slow down a bit? If she could get the dragon to run out of fire it would help her as well... but it didn't seem to be tiring out in the same manner that she had. How she wished that she had the same stamina... but that just meant that she would have to train harder. She couldn't let a mere dragon best her after all, even if it was a powerful new breed that she had never fought with before.
Giving a little rumbling sound in her throat she ran to one side, spotting an opening as the dragon spat out a burst of flame. It appeared as though the dragon's fire went in a straight line, allowing her to charge in from the side to take a few more swipes at the beast, before she was rushing off again. Hit and run, hit and run, it seemed to be the best way to deal with the Firani while it still had magical energy and powerful flames remaining. Once it's fire started to die down she'd go for the throat...

The Firani seemed to be slowing down, though only a bit, it was still able to summon its fiery magic and it was able to take swipes at Khaldera when she got too close, but at the same time she could tell that it was getting a touch slower. The more time that she spent fighting the creature the more that she was learning about it, the more openings she saw, the more that she wanted to go after it and try to get her claws on the orb that she knew that it had. Soon, very soon, she thought to herself. Already she had one of the Firani orbs waiting for her, she only had to finish up this battle to be able to get the second one as well. How eager she was to get those two orbs back to where she'd left the rest of her collection.
Rushing forward when she saw another opening, ever a small one, she went under the dragon, lifting up, her claws slashing at the dragon's underside. She got as many slashes in as she could before she got kicked in the side. The kick sent her rolling, a squeak of surprise escaping from her, before she was able to get back to her feet. Shaking off all the clingy sand that she could Khaldera spat out, "That's no way to treat a lady, you beast! I swear I am going to cut you to ribbons!" Not exactly the words of a lady, but no matter, she didn't care if her actions and words didn't match up with the title of 'lady' that she was claiming for the time being. Instead she just charged forward once more, looking to land a few more blows on the dragon. The more wounds the better, at least if she kept landing them she would be able to at least bleed the dragon out, right?
