[no actual massacres taking place in this rp]
It was playtime outside, which was not really Ganymede's favorite time. They didn't particularly enjoy being forced to interact with the other kids in their age group, and on top of all that it was an unusually warm day. So, as per usual, they were being especially terrible about everything. Ten minutes into playtime they'd already been banished from the sandbox for declaring themself "Prince" and destroying a couple other sandcastles...
That left them with some time out on the sidelines of the playground, staring grumpily at the others while they played. It wasn't their fault if the other kids were so sensitive. Besides, ransacking nearby places was perfectly in line with the Geist history they'd learned about recently! They were just being historically accurate!
With a huff they sat down on a bench a few feet away from the main playground to wait out their ten minute time-out.

Leilah enjoyed playtime, unlike some nightmares who just had to ruin the fun for everyone. She loved running around, playing on the swings, and seeing how many handle bars she could skip on the jungle gym (which wasn't many given her size). Plus she got to play with the other nightmares her age. While she enjoyed her classes, being outside was just better. She loved playing with others, but sometimes there was just that rude kid on the playground that messed up all your hard work you put into building your sandcastle...
She had been laughing and working on a moat around her castle when a purple Geist had come along, declaring themselves Prince, and knocking them over. She totally understood the refernce, she paid extra attention in her Social Studies class. However it was still very rude. Before she could call him out on it however, one of the caretakers had stepped in to give the rowdy child a time-out.
Her pink eyes followed them as they sat down on the bench a little ways away. She knew he wouldn't be out for the rest of their playtime. She'd get a chance to talk to him eventually. One of the other nightmare's whose castle was destroyed was rather upset. They'd been working that whole time! They even had more than one spire built! Leilah hadn't been working on her's long enough for it to be so elaborate.
"I can help you rebuild it!" She reached over and gave the other nightmare a hug before getting back to work. She sat so that she could watch for the Geist to be released from him time-out however. Her pinks eyes met theirs from time to time.

Gany did notice that the little blue imp from the sandbox kept glancing over at them. At first, they ignored it. But as the time crept closer to their impending freedom, they would occasionally make a face back at her. Serves her right for staring. When they were finally released from time-out, they slid off of the bench and stretched a bit before surveying the playground again. What to do... what to do...
Sandbox was still off limits, unfortunately. They'd built an impressive castle in there, now all the other kids got to have it. How annoying. With a shrug to themself, they started off towards the play structure. Maybe some sliding would be entertaining. And it might give them a chance to dodge the ever-persistent glances of that imp...

After ten minutes they were well on their way to a more elaborate sandcastle than the one that had been destroyed. even she was quite impressed by it, she would usually get bored with the effort of building with sand, but she had enjoyed working on it this time around. However, once the Geist was released from their time out she bounced up to her feet, dusting the sand off of herself as best she could. Sand was kind of annoying sometimes.
She waved to the other young nightmare and than dashed off to the play structure. It had all sorts of things to run around on, swing, and slide down. It was pretty fun and often had nightmares chasing each other around it. She was fast enough to catch up to the Geist as they were making their way toward the slide.
"Hey! You! You need too apologize for knocking down those sandcastles!" She was pointing at him defiantly.

Ganymede was about to reach the ladder to climb up onto the play structure when they heard the demand... They stopped, squinting a bit before looking over at Leilah, eyes landing first on the accusing finger, then up to her face. Oh no. Who was this kid anyway? She wasn't the boss of them.
"Ummm no? I don't gotta." They shook their head, braid flailing a bit. "I already got time-out sooooo that's that. Besides, you're not the boss of me." There. That would trump her, surely. Most kids backed down after that, anyway. They continued to stare at her blankly, determined to stare her down if necessary.

This Geist seemed to have a bit of a bad attitude. Leilah was always willing to give someone the benefit of the doubt though. Maybe they were having a bad day or something, even a bad week for all she knew. However, when they refused to apologize she puffed her cheeks and crossed her fluffy arms in front of her. Really? That wasn't how you made friends! Didn't they know how to do that properly?
"It's the nice thing to do! Don't you want any friends? Do you have any friends? I'll be your friend if you need one!" She moved a little closer to them at that point, despite their rather intimidating glare she was being totally serious! They might be a bit scary, but she was sure they had some sort of hart hidden in there somewhere. She'd fine it! One way or another!

Gany watched the display, expression still blank. So she wasn't going to back down... that was okay, they'd just figure out some other way to get her to leave them alone. That's all the wanted at this point. As soon as she mentioned that it was the "nice thing to do," they rolled their eyes, a flicker of light passing through their markings. "So what? I don't gotta do it. Theyyyyy didn't say I had to." They pointed out the nearby caretakers watching over the group of freshlings.
"And I do got a friend! What's it to you?" They huffed, placing their hands on their hips as they narrowed their eyes and furrowed their brows. "Why would I wanna be friends with you? What do youuu got that I'd wanna hang out with you for?" Gany was not particularly interested in making friends with just anyone, but honestly they probably should... Vaden would approve, but they weren't exactly thinking about what their new "big brother" would approve or not approve of.

Leilah didn't need someone else telling her she had to apologize when she needed to! She knew when it was the right thing to do! She'd seen other people do it and had read about it in books! When you did something wrong you were just supposed to say you were sorry! Did they never read? She huffed and her tail flicked behind her. Her ears rest low on her head and she crossed her arms in front of her.
"If you have a friend, why aren't you playing with them now? Hm?" After all she had friends and she always had someone to play with on the playground. She didn't need to go around stomping on people's sandcastles for attention like someone.
The last one was a tough question though. They were so rude! Did she really even want to be their friend? Maybe if she was their friend, than they could make other friends and be more fun to be around? "Because...I have a very fluffy and soft tail. And I only let my friend touch it." She flicked it in front of her and held it close. Indeed, it made the best pillow, was super soft, and they should be totally jealous of her tail!

The trouble with Gany was that they knew that they were supposed to apologize, they just didn't want to if they didn't have to. Despite the attempts of their primary caretaker, Ganymede had never really developed much of empathy for others, so this idea of doing it because it was "right" was not something they were particularly keen on ascribing to. They didn't really expect apologies from others, so why should others expect apologies from them?
"Beeeecause, he's a senior and he's busy doing senior things, that's why." They huffed, placing their hands on their hips. If they actually used any sort of inflection in their voice, it might have sounded as if they thought that answer should have been obvious. "Soooo obviously he's not gonna play with me right now." Never mind that big siblings from the mentor program probably didn't count as friends.... Ganymede figured Vaden was probably going to be the only friend they had, and they were fine with that.
They squinted at her as she listed off her reason, eyes momentarily sliding to examine the tail in question... They'd never touched an imp tail... The caretakres had made sure to drill it into their head that they should not touch people without permission first... it was one of the only things they'd actually managed to get Ganymede to absorb. In the end, though, it wasn't really tempting enough to make them actually reign in their personality enough to get along with this girl. "I don't care." They shrugged. "I bet I can find something else that's even fluffier and softer aaaaand I wouldn't have to put up with you to touch it. SO your reason is dumb." There. That should do it. She'd probably give up now. If she didn't, Gany honestly wasn't sure what to do next. They weren't exactly keen on getting in enough trouble for Vaden to find out...

Oh! They had an older friend! That reminded her of Litla! She loved her older sister, but they were more like family than a friend. It was Leilah's mission to get the girl to be more confident in herself! She was really good company, if only she could come out and play with her! That would be so much fun! She made a note to take her to the playground some other time when the both of them were free!
"Friends your own age are more fun! Cause...you get to hang out with them more!" She was at least a little bit happy that they had listed one friend! But just one! The more the merrier, in her opinion anyway! If you had more than one friend, than there would always be someone to spend time with right? Leilah absolutely dreaded solitude.
She went from happy to annoyed in no time at all. She puffed out her cheeks and placed her hands on her hips, her tail flicked in annoyance behind her. "There is nothing softer than an Imps tail! Even my sisters is just the best thing to cuddle!" She was trying to find another reason though, and she figured she might have just the right trick up her sleeve!
A smirk crossed her face and she held her hands together behind her back. ""If...you were my friend, I'd tell you how cool and awesome you are everyday!" There! They couldn't refuse that!

Gany had to disagree with her on that one. The other freshlings, at least in their dorm room, were such cry babies. Vaden was way cooler. They didn't even have to censor themself with him. Now that was truly a good thing in their mind. Her annoyance amused them, though. Seemed they'd struck a nerve! How delightful. They couldn't help but giggle at the display. She looked like a chipmunk!
"Suuuuure there is. Imp tails can't be the softest otherwise maybe people would cut them off to make pillows out of." A near malicious grin spread across their face. They weren't serious at all, but the combination of flat tone and facial expression might lead someone to believe they were. Her next offer caught their attention, though...
Someone that would give them compliments every day? Now that was a rarity. They could go for that... "Fine, but if I don't like them then we're not friends anymore. Deal?"

"That's not...hum...humane. It would hurt Imps! That's why they can't do that!" At the thought of someone cutting off her tail a truly horrifying look did cross her face and she was back to hugging tail in front of her. Like she'd let anyone take her tail, she'd defend it with her claws if she had to! Even more terrifying was the thought of someone taking Litla's lovely tail! That was her nap time pillow! She didn't need to cut it off and stuff it into a pillow case in order to use it as a pillow either!
Her horror turned to shock, which then became a smirk, and finally a happy little smile as he agreed to be her friend! She had won! HA. Don't mess with her, she knows how to make friends okay! She's been making friends since as long as she could remember.
"OKAY FINE! And I'll even let my cool new friend touch my tail!" She approached him casually, must like she would any other nightmare she knew and she had her tail out in front of her still. "I promise it's really soft!" The attitude she had before was gone, replaced by her usual sweet smile and soft eyes. It was so HARD to act tough, but she had done it! Whew...

Gany rolled his eyes, obviously she hadn't caught on that he wasn't serious. How dumb. Most people didn't seem to catch it though, but Gany hadn't quite acknowledged that maybe the problem was with him... not other people. He quirked a brow at how quickly her expressions changed, she sure liked to flip through a lot of emotions in a short span of time... He couldn't help but think that would be exhausting...
At the mention of being 'cool,' though, he perked up a bit. Of course he was cool. It was about time that someone else recognized that. "Okay okay." He shrugged, then reached out to touch her tail. Slowly. And surprisingly gently for someone who spoke so harshly.
He pet it a couple of times, and then withdrew his hand. Now... to be honest, or to lie. He couldn't let her get too full of herself, so he opted to lie. "My friend's flitterat is softer." He nodded, matter-of-factly. "But I guess you're a close second."

Leilah was a very expressive individuals and she was of mind that most others should be like herself. It helped others know how to interact with you if you wore your emotions. Sometimes she might hide the fact she's sad, but in the end that just hurt everyone around you as well! They should take a lesson from her and learn to be a little more emotional, less constant grumpy grump!
She was a little surprised when they reached out and gently pet her tail. She had the silliest grin on her face when they did so. It seemed they were coming around, at least a little bit anyway. It hurt a bit to be compared to a flitterrat, but second wasn't such a bad place. Given time together maybe they would come to change their mind as well!
She simply shrugged and than held out her clawed hand toward the other freshling. Something told her they wouldn't really appreciate a hug, but given some time maybe she'd get there eventually. She had been warned that not everyone like to be touched and they were giving off all the right clues.
"My name is Leilah! What's yours?" She held her hand out expectantly, but was already bracing herself for it to be brushed off.

Gany stared at her hand for a moment, admittedly not entirely sure what she was wanting. Did she want to pet his hair or something? 'Cause that was out of the question. But she didn't mention anything about that, and instead introduced herself. Leilah... he could probably find something to make fun of about that name but decided not to. Vaden would likely be hearing about the sand castles and he really didn't need to add more to the pile of things for Vaden to be mad about.
"Ganymede." He hesitantly took her hand, having figured out what she wanted... Those claws were kind of intimidating, although he'd never admit that. He shook it once, then pulled his hand away and stuffed it into his shorts pocket. "I guess you can call me Gany, that's what Vaden calls me." He shrugged, then shifted his weight a little to the left. "I was going to go down the slide before you interrupted me soooo.... I'm gonna do that."
