It was a Wednesday night, and Dustin was sober.

Just kidding. It was a Wednesday night, which meant that it was some time and day during the week, so of course Dustin was at least somewhat intoxicated. A pub in the DCU area had a cheap deal for $3 whiskey drinks on Wednesdays, which meant it was a common dwelling spot for him on the hump day. He was only three drinks in, and already earned $20 by stealing from some closeted frat bro's wallet while flirting with him and teasing him with an OTPHJ.

After pocketing the cash, he moved on back to the bar, looking for the next target to unknowingly pay for his drinks. Or his dinner. Or his rent...

Axton was certainly no where near sober at this point. The middle of the week, and usually he'd be back in his dorm studying, but some miracle of scheduling had left him with Thursday free, and he'd just finished a really awful exam only a few hours prior. That meant, obviously, that it was time to celebrate.

He was standing at the bar, a drink in his hand, talking to the pretty bartender as she mixed a round of shots for a group of girls at one of the round tables in the back. In his current state it was hard to tell if her bright smiles and responsive giggling was simply kindness for the sake of a big tip, or genuine interest.

It was probably the former.

Just a few patrons down, Dustin was eyeing the other boy with a bit of a grin.

"Not gonna happen bro," he called out rather loudly as soon as the female bartender stepped away. He moved closer to the other boy and took a sip of his freshly poured bullet rye. "Rule number one of looking to get laid in a bar: the only thing the bartender wants in your pants is your wallet and your cash."

Unlike Dustin, who wanted the rest, too.

Axton, not paying attention to the rest of the bar, turned wide eyes to the other man as he called out to him. Then he was smiling, good natured and just a little self-deprecating. "M'sure you're right, but she's got a nice laugh," he answered, shrugging as the other man wandered over.

"It's alright, if I was really looking for a hook up there are plenty of other prospects around." Like the brunette standing at the little table behind them. The one that kept tossing long glances at the back of axton's head. He probably wouldn't have noticed if the bartender hadn't pointed her out half an hour ago.

The blonde was buzzed, rather obviously so. Cheeks flushed, eyes vaguely unfocused, and the sort of goofy smile that young men tended to fall to when they'd had enough booze to feel good.

"Right, like a guy comes in alone to a college bar and isn't at least a little bit interested in getting his d**k wet," Dustin teased. He couldn't even fathom the idea, but he was always looking. "Name's Dustin by the way."

He gave the other boy another look over. He was pretty cute, and he recognized that drunken smile anywhere. It looks like he had his new target: drunk enough to have fun making poor decisions, but sober enough to still make the decisions. Bingo. It looks like he found his target for the night - now how much cash did he have on him?

"Let me guess, you must be a student around here," he suggested, a pretty easy guess - nearly everyone at this bar were students except for himself. "What are you studying or whatever?" He wasn't that interested in the answer because, ick, education, but feigning interest in other people's stupid stuff helped to get them to loosen their pursestrings, if not their belt buckles.

Axton laughed, but he also shook his head. "Had na exam earlier. This guys celebrating. Or," he added after a small, thoughtful pause and a chuckle. "Whatever the opposite of celebrating is. Not sure how well I did." Better then he thought, more than likely. Axton usually did better than he gave himself credit for.

He took another long drink as Dustin asked about his studies. "Yeah, I'm third year, majoring in leisure studies." He shrugged, then the grin was back. "How about yourself? You a student too?"

There was a pause here as well, before the blonde pipped up again. "I'm Axton, by the way." Shifting his drink to his left hand, he offered the right.

"Opposite of celebrating is called boring," he shrugged. That sounded smart, he thought. He pulled out his phone and quickly tweeted that very sentence, then slid the phone back into his back pocket.

"Leisure studies? What the ******** is that?" he asked, surprised by the answer. "That sounds fun. Is that like, throwing parties and taking naps and s**t? ********, I'd ace that." He couldn't believe that was a curriculum in college. s**t, he really should go back to school then.

"Nah, I'm not in school, but love the cheap drinks and hot a** at the college bars," he laughed, flashing the widest s**t-eating grin he could. He rose his glass with a wink. "And cheers to that."

Hard to argue with that logic, so Axton just laughed, nodding as he took another drink. He was getting dangerously close tot he bottom of his glass. It meant he was going to have to either order another, or...

He didn't even know. Seemed too early to call it a night, but if he drink much more he would have to leave his car, or make a very poor life choice in regards to driving.

"Leisure studies is a social science regarding recreation and and things like tourism." He'd had a similar hope when he'd first picked his classes, but despite being wrong he'd stuck with it. He actually enjoyed the material. "It's a very broad major." Which wasn't a bad thing, not when he didn't know for sure what he wanted to do after college.

The mostly empty glass rose as Dustin lifted his for a cheers. "I'll drink to that."

clink.

Dustin downed the rest of his drink and slid the empty glass down the bar. Both brows raised as Axton described his major - not as enthralling as he hoped, but also not as dull as he thought a college major would typically be.

"Your glass is looking a little empty," he pointed out, placing a hand on Axton's bicep and drew himself in a little closer - but not too close. Not yet. "You wanna pay for another round of drinks?" He at least should offer someone else's money to pay.

The clink, combined with the comment, pulled Axton's attention down to the glass in his hand, as if he'd forgotten it was there. He stared at it a moment before finishing it and setting the empty glass on the bar.

"Ah, sure." His brain hadn't actually caught up with this logic yet, so it sounded like a fine idea.

The bartender had returned, all smiles and bright eyes again, and Axton grinned back at her, holding up two fingers. "Can I get another, and whatever he had as well? Thanks doll."

"Doll? She is a human being, not some piece of meat toy," Dustin lectured. He couldn't even keep a straight face before laughing. "Nah, just ******** kidding. She's hot. Nice tits, decent a**." He paused. "Your a** looks better though."

He winked again as he took his new drink. Time to test the waters with how his compliments were received.

There was that awkward moment where the blonde wasn't sure if Dustin was joking or not, at least until he lost his fight to keep a straight face. Then Axton was laughing as well.

Though he stopped, the sound of humor fading as the compliment hit and then sank in slowly. He wasn't entirely sure how to respond to that.

"Ah, thank you." Seemed rude not to acknowledge it. A compliment was a compliment, right? And Ax wasn't homophobic. He had a couple of friends that bat for the other team. The question was, did social protocol call for a compliment in return?

He was quiet as he tried to reason that one out, stalling for a handful of seconds as he pulled his refilled drink closer. "You, er..." He tried, frowning thoughtfully. "Um." The color on his cheeks darkened just a touch.

Dustin grinned at the boy blushing. "What? Nobody's ever complimented your a** before? What a shame," he teased to cut some tension.

"Hey, you wanna find a table?" he offered. He got him on the hook, now it was time to isolate and reel him in.

He already had a table picked out - an empty high table with no stools around it in a darker corner of the bar, over by an old, broken down Ms. Pac-Man machine. He nodded towards that direction and started to make his way over.

The teasing helped, down playing the compliment enough for Axton to simply shake it off with a smile and a laugh. Not quite sure what was going on, and not sober enough for the pieces to properly fall into place.

He glanced at the table Dustin nodded at, hanging back for a step or two before another frown touched his lips and he started to follow.

Their bartender hadn't been bad company, but she'd been busy. Dustin offered a little more by way of conversation, and he'd just ordered another drink. Since he wasn't going anywhere anytime soon, he might as well stick with Dustin and his easy grins and overly-friendly nature.

Some people just got really touchy-feely when they drink. Ax wasn't going to judge.

Dustin swirled his drink around in his glass and took another sip. "Figured a quieter corner would make room for better conversation," he shrugged. He glanced down to the other's pants - not to check him out (okay, maybe a little) - but scanning his pockets to see if there's any outline of a wallet. He needed to know which pocket to pick when it came time to feel him up and rob him, after all. He couldn't quite tell in the dim lighting, so it was time to go fishing.

"This a better spot for you?" he asked, largely as a distraction as he shifted one hand under the table closer towards Axton's thigh pocket.
