"The sky is so bright here! I can see so much! I'm happy mother moved us here!" Of course, the little boy was talking to no one in particular, just the nature surrownding him. He was just as content with talking to no one as he was talking to any one passing by, it made no difference to him, he was having the time of his life! Tharor stopped in his tracks, running his hand over the small rusted dagger in his pocket, when he heard the strange sound. Was that...pecking? The small boy crouched low, moving in to investigate the source of the sound. He didn't expect to find a small bird-looking creature just chilling, pecking at the rock near by it occasionally.
What did his mother call those kind of birds again?
Dactyls! That was it!
Tharor tried to sneak up on the Dactyl, almost dropping the dagger he had in his hand. The fumbling he did in order to make sure he kept hold of his dagger, alerted the bird creature, causing it to charged straight towards the now flailing boy. "W-Wait! I just want to see if I can kill you! I promise Ill be nice about it!!! Ow ow ow ow!!" The mean thing was no more that a baby and here it was, pecking the life out of his poor exposed head. Since Thar wasn't paying any attention to the direction he was running towards, he ran right into the Dactyl's parents, ensuing even more pecks of pain. "Ow! Ow! Ow! OOOOOOOOOOOOW!"
Tharor ran till he could see his house in the distance, hopping that the birds wouldn't follow him inside. His mother wasn't home right now and that meant he wouldn't be able to hide behind her and her huge sword! By the time he made it, he nearly dived through the dining room window, rolling and crashing into the case that held his mother's prized sword. He was glad she bought one made of stone...
His spine was not however and neither was his head, but hey! At least he escaped the birds! One day, he'll show them what for!
Dumb creatures.

Once he managed to patch him self up with some poorly applied bandages, Tharor was out the door once more. He's be stupid if he let that stupid Dactyl and its parents get the best of him! Even if his back was sore, his head hurt and his arm was throbbing slightly! He was going to get that thing whether it wanted him to kill it or not! Squaring his shoulders, Tharor looked over his bandage work with a grimace. Mother would be able to do better as soon as she got home. Hopefully, he will have a nice tale and some trophies to show her!
For Tharor was the greatest hunter there ever was!

Maybe.
Once he was sure all his bandages were okay, Thar made his way towards the last place he encountered the Dactyl, finding it abandoned unsurprisingly. With a shrug and a small pout, he moved on, looking for any signs of the dactyl; about to give up until he heard noises..and pecking. YES! Thar broke out into a run then, dagger raised and ready while charging at what he thought was the same baby dactyl from earlier.
He was right about one thing: the creature he was charging towards was in fact a baby dactyl. HOWEVER, it was not the same one. He missed the slice he made and the Dactyl made sure to let him know, swiping at him with its claws, snagging his shoulder a bit. Ow!

The pain in his shoulder did not stop him from trying again. Thar charged at another dactyl once more, missing it completely and falling down, hitting his chin with a cracking sound on a nearby boulder. Was that a tooth or did his chin really just split open? Okay! That was it! Whipping the blood from underneath his chin, tharor glared at the dumb bird in front of him, small tears welling in his eyes. He was a big boy! He could handle this pain! It wasn't so bad now was it? Mother has been through the war with injuries worse than this and she never cried! Tharor got pushed himself up, lowering to a crouch, aiming his dagger at the baby dactyl. Was that thing mocking him?! The tiny baby simply looked at him, a small chirping noise coming from its beak. It was like the stupid thing was saying "come at me bro!" so Thar did. But instead of charging once more, he simply threw his dagger at the dactyl, crying out in frustration when the throw was so off that it went into the bushes that was DIRECTLY to the left of the baby creature.
Okay that just wasn't fair! What did he have to do to kill this thing?! It was bad enough that his chin was hurting, his back was throbbing, and his head started to throb too, making for a very unhappy eleven year old. He just wanted to tell his mom about his victory so she could be proud! Instead he was going to come home with nothing but a messed up face and back. He hated these things so much but, maybe if he tries again, something magical would happen? Like he'd defeat the daunting a baby dactyl and its parents?! Maybe he should try again on a different one, This cheeky thing right before him was too smart.

The next baby he charged at wasn't as smart at as the other, but it did move out of the way when he got near. Tharor was prepared however and he didn't fall on his face, instead he turned right around and went in for the kill once more, dagger raised up high. He made a downwards slash, clipping the baby bird's wing with a shallow cut, the baby dactyl retaliating by trying to drive its beak through his arm. Tharor barely dodged the attack, the beak leaving a shallow cut along the side of his shoulder. The oblivionite boy barely winced, crouched and circling around the baby Dactyl as it circled him, just waiting for an opening. When the Dactyl flew up, Tharor thought it was running away.
Until it turned around, dive bombing right towards him!
He needed to move, but his legs were frozen. Just how on all of Magesc could an itty bitty baby dactyl do so much? The creature was getting closer and all Thar could do was star for a couple more seconds before falling onto his butt, scooting back just before the baby landed, its beak barely missing a very valuable appendage that would become highly important to the boy later. Tharor made a sigh of relief when the bird missed, scrambling to his feet. He took advantage of the bird becoming dazed from the missed dive, jumping forward to finally kill the darn baby bird. The bird jumped back and tharor landed on his stomach with a grunt of pain. That was the second time he fell for something like that! Now his stomach was hurting!!! The small boy picked himself up, dusting off his shirt while glaring at the bird that would become his nemesis. Perhaps he should try to find one more dactyl to see if he could get his kill then?
That could work. On to the next one!

He was pretty sure this next Dactyl was either slow or injured because when he went to charge at it, it just fell over with a squeak, flapping its little baby bird wings around. Tharor decided to just put it out of its misery, walking up to it with a sad face before stopping it with a carefully placed hand. "I'm sorry baby bird....I promise Ill make a good trophy of you okay?" With that he ran his rusted dagger across the dactyls neck, wincing at the sight of the uneven slice. When he was sure the Dactyl was no longer among the living he picked up the body and started towards his house where his mother would be waiting for him hopefully with food and congratulations on his kill.
Thar proudly strolled up to his new home, knocking on the door. He made sure to puff out his chest, trying to look all manly and tough when he felt anything but due to his injuries. His mother answered the door, glaring down at him only to brighten at the sight of the baby dactyl in his hands. "Baby boy did you just do your first kill with out your deal old mother to witness it? What did you kill?" She gently took the baby dactyl and studied it,moving inside to place it on the table. She would have to make a trophy out of it pretty soon for him. Now...Alheda looked her son over, gasping when she took notice of the blood and injuries. Gods she was gonna have to teach her son how to watch himself in battle wasnt she? "Come on Thar, lets see your injuries okay?" She smiled and took his hand, leading him through the door and closing it.
Through it all Tharor gave his mother the biggest smile he could manage. He made her proud and that's all that mattered.
