Electric Dreams was hardly subtle. No, much like the it's owner, the shop cried out from it's place on the main drag begging for attention by any passer by. The building was two stories high, large and fairly scrolling. Neon and electronic signs blazed and blinked from every window advertising gaming companies and specific games. One of the darkened windows had words lovingly handscrolled in those window paints advertising the Laser tag arena and the Glow in the Dark mini golf course all tucked away inside the building. The soft sound of base and cheerful music could be heard escaping whenever the door opened.
Upon entering one would be greeted by a stretch of arcade games both modern and classic. There were first person shooters, dancing games, side scrollers, air hockey, and ticket earning games of chance and skill filling just about every wall and crevease. In the back corner there was a counter with concessions and also prizes to trade tickets for. Doors near the concession stand had signs of their own, one leading to the laser tag arena and the other to the mini golf. TV screens hung on the wall nearby allowing people to watch what was going on inside and hopefully intice them into signing up for a game. Electronic scoreboards hung alongside, proclaiming the results for the best prize of all - bragging rights.
More games awaited upstairs for those who decide to make the trip upwards.
It was a weekday so the arcade wasn't totally packed and the owner, Corey Boone, was milling around to waste time. At the moment he was leaned over the prize counter arranging a few things that had gotten knocked around the night before while one of the workers had been trying to hand out prizes.Lucyal Sorry for the delay in getting this started!! Also disregard the title, I was just being silly and trying to make some connection to shipping. XD

Hardly subtle was what was needed to pull Olga's nose out of her iPhone most days, and the arcade did just that. The wanna be romance writer had started to walk past, but immediately back tracked when she caught neon and flashing out of the corner of her eye. Popping her head up, she took in with wide eyed awe what she was looking at. "HOLY CROW!" She exclaimed, throwing her hands up into the air in exclamation. She always wanted to go to a real life arcade! Ever since seeing them on the internet--ugh. Where she came from though, out in the country-country, there had never been such a thing. She knew what she was doing now. Pocketing her iPhone, Olga approached the doors, pushing one open and stepping in with a delighted grin, looking this way and that as each and everything seemed to vie for her attention. Oh snap--she definitely needed to scrounge up a few dollars and get some quarters-- Speaking of! She caught sight of what she assumed to be an employee behind the prize counter, and she made a bee-line for him. Once she approached the counter she leaned on it, resting on her elbows as she waited. "Hey!" She called out in a friendly and cheerful, if not definitely excited greeting. "Could you point me to the quarter machines?" Iris_virus Oh my gosh no problem! I LOVE THE TITLE! It's still applicable : DDD

'Definitely excited' was an emotion and expression that Corey knew all too well. Not that that was a bad thing to have in his line of work. Really if he weren't such a jovial and social man-child he'd probably find being constantly surrounded in lights, sounds, and children to be terribly grating. But alas, he had been blessed with a soul that would not age no matter to the fact that he'd turned 30 (the horror!) this year.
The peppy greeting was a happy distraction to what he was doing and so his hands immediately left the glass case when it sounded, offering the young lady a friendly smile. "I could be your quarter machine." He piped up immediately, a thumb cocking towards the cash register on the other side of the long counter.
"Or I guess you could use one of the machines..." He pointed out towards one of the self service machines alongside the air hockey table with a playful pout. He was happy and looking for a distraction and the girl seemed friendly enough that he hoped she'd bite. But if she didn't and decided instead to roll her eyes at him and go use the machine he'd just go back to clean up duty.Lucyal Super sorry for the delay! Oooh this guy seemed cool! He had really awesome hair, and another positive and energetic aura just fed another positive and energetic aura. Olga grinned. "I'll use you, guy!" Her grin turned fox-like, her eyes closing as it widened. "You'll talk back to me!" She planted her two dollars onto the counter top, and then slid them over to him. "This is a really stellar place! I always wanted to go to an arcade, but there never were any back where I came from! How long have you worked here, huh?"

"Corey Boone." He responded in reflex and greeting.
"I try not to talk back to the customers toooo much." He teased mildly, giving her a little wink. He'd known what she meant of course, but being revived from the boringness he'd been drowning in he was feeling a little playful.
His hand settled on the dollar bills, sweeping them up to the counter and quickly over to the register. It was so routine by now he didn't even have to look at the buttons, he could have processed the transaction blindfolded, but as she piped up again Corey paused suddenly, his eyes widening at the revelation. She'd never been to an arcade? Like NEVER?
The register clanged shut with a soft ringing noise and the man quickly made his way around the counter stopping only when he was in front of her. The quarters were deposited into her hands, 10 quarters in total, and without hesitation his hands clamped down on her shoulders. "Oh you poor precious child. What backwater castle have you been trapped in your whole life?" There was a genuine look of concern on his face, before he spun her, hands still on her shoulders as he tried to usher her towards the games. "Please tell me you've at least played some videogames at home?"
"Do you have a favorite type?" This was an intervention. Or.. something. It was his DUTY as a proud arcade owner to show her the wonders of his world. And he took it very seriously.

"Sol Olga Sayle!" She returned happily, giving him a salute to accompany her introduction. "But just call me Olga!" She wiggled a bit as she waited as he tended to the quarters, looking over all the prizes with interest. She straightened as he came around the counter, cupping her hands together to receive the quarters. "Hey, thanks--" She spotted the extra two. "Hey, wait! I didn't give you another dollar though--" Olga wanted to protest, her daddy having raised her to be a pretty honest girl. At Corey's assessment though, she couldn't help but laugh. "Well...you're not far off! Grew up out in the country on a ranch---and daddy's retired military." That really explained it all. She grinned, letting him spin her and then direct her in the direction of the games. "Oh, a bit! Had friends in high school who had some systems, yeah? Do you have Soul Calibur? Street Fighter? Mortal Combat? Oh, oh, oh! Do you have some of those zombie shooters!?" Iris_virus Bless you, Corey, bless you

Her name was unique and exotic, he acknowledge it was thoughtful interest before giving her a nod in response to the request to call her Olga.
The mild protest about the the amount of money he'd given her was brushed away with a cool croon. "Don't worry about it. It's just good business sense you know. Spend a little up front to get you hooked and then you'll keep coming back to my arcade again and again." He was teasing when he said it, but it wasn't entirely untruthful. He really wanted to share the joy and love of the arcade with her, but being the cheap cheap man that he usually was the thought had briefly crossed his mind as he'd pulled out the two extra quarters. A small investment that would possibly lead to future profits.
When she mentioned her choice of games he nodded vigoriously, changing their direction to lead towards some of the fighting related games. "We've totally got fighting games and shooters. A good half dozen of each. The newer more popular games are down here but I have a lot of the older classic ones upstairs on the second floor."
Hands releasing her, he began to point from one game to the next. "Soul Caliber, Mortal Kombat, Blu Blaze, House of the Dead, Terminator, Jurrasic Park." He rattled along, perhaps a little too excitedly as he pointed from one colorful and blinking machine to the next. "I'll even play along with you if you choose a 2 player game, I'm pretty good since I own the place and can play them all the time." He mused with another playful wink. Lucyal He is a knight after all, he has to be dutiful sometime, even if it's.. not while he's being a knight. >w<

Olga laughed. "Oh geeze---I'm scrounging up pennies for food as it is and you're going to get me addicted to games? I'm going to be in the negatives!" It was a very smart ploy though. She was already planning on coming back again--and trying to see if she could talk Nadia into coming too! Any future friends she made would also be directed here. "...WHAT!?" She cried. "There's a second floor too!?" Her mind exploded. She had seen the neon signs outside, yeah, but she didn't think it meant they were on the second floor...woah. WOAH. She then turned to stare at him, her eyes going even wider. " You own this place?" There was the distinct sound of a brain breaking. Hint: it was Olga's. "Yeah!" She pumped a fist after she got her motor functions back. "Play with me! How long have you had this place for?" She grinned, and excitedly trotted up to the Soul Caliber machine. She patted the spot next to her with a grin, and then turned to watch the screen. "I always thought the characters here looked really cool!" Iris_virus HE'S AMAZING fkjlewfklwekl

"On the weekends a lot of the grocery stores put out all their free samples. You can eat like a king for absolutely nothing. Just try not to hit the same free sample up more then twice or the ladies get cranky." He shared his secret - spoken like a real cheap a** pro. He'd been there himself after first leaving home and when he first opened the arcade. Scrapping and scrounging to get by. Even now he wasn't well off by any means, but he was comfortably. Didn't mean he didn't still enjoy mooching free stuff whenever humanly possible.
Her disbelief brought another look of delight to Corey's face, chest puffing up in pride behind the Call of Duty t shirt he was probably too old to be wearing proudly. "Yep! There are two floors of videogames, almost 100 machines altogether. And then a small mini golf course and a two story laser tag arena." The arcade was his baby and he was more than happy to blather on about it. MORE THAN HAPPY.
Even as he siddled up to the machine alongside her, slipping two quarters out of his own pocket to pay for his half, he gushed. "Gosh it's been over 5 years now, getting pretty close to 6. I always wanted to have my own arcade but it took awhile after I graduated highschool. Had to work a couple different jobs for a few years to scrounge up the money. It started pretty small but I've been adding on to it slowly and surely whenever I've been able to."
As he spoke he began to scroll through characters making a full revolution before finally settling on Tira.
"What about you. What are you doing in Destiny City? When did you escape the castle?" He grinned playfully.

Olga's eyes went round as she stared at him, and the look on her face expressed nothing less than profound awe, hope and joy. " You're amazing." She breathed in reverence, and really, that look of admiration was pretty much plastered on her face as she listened to him. Wow. Just wow. That was a dream chaser and achiever right there! It was pretty inspiring, actually. "Hard work and dedication! It really shows!" Olga chimed happily, hoping the same would work out for her when it came to her writing. She ended up scrolling over all the characters repeatedly after popping her quarters in, not able to make up her mind before she settled on Sophitia. Who could resist the noble and pure effort with which she fought for? "Huh? Oh---me?" Olga glanced up at him from bending over the buttons. "I'm here for DCU! I'm a writing major--and I only escaped about a month ago!" She laughed. "Fresh meat, yeah?" Iris_virus do you wanna roll 1d20 each and the highest roll wins the fight? : D

It wasn't often he got praise, at least not this very genuine and flattering sort of praise that the girl was showering him in. And as she looked at him with admiration a barely visably flush could be seen at Corey's cheeks, his eyes averting with a sheepish grin. "Thanks.. It wasn't much though. Anyone that works hard can get their dreams I think."
"No, I know." He added a bit more confidently, giving her a nod as he finally glanced back at her. And Corey really did believe it, whether it be for himself or someone else. There was nothing better than following and attaining your dreams.
The sound of music drew his attention to the game as the stage was chosen and the character began their little speeches of introduction. Even as his eyes were glued on the screen when the battle began he was listening intently to her words. "Ahhh don't worry. We're not that bad here, the people are friendly and I always hear good things about the school from the kids that drop by here." Well... there were the monsters... and that kind of a bad stuff.. but Corey tried to push that thought away for now, not wanting to wreck the mood. Hopefully Olga would stay around DCU and be pretty safe... Either that or she'd have his luck and there would always been a senshi around to swoop in and save the day.
As his fingers tapped buttons, trying to work out a particular combo he released his bottom lip, not even noticing that he'd been biting it in his concentration. "What kind of writing do you like? Like.. newspaper journalist? Poetry? Or like a full blown author?"Lucyal Yupppp biggrin Let's see who winssss.

Olga snorted. "Wasn't much?" She echoed. "Oh--I don't believe that." Another admiring glance around the place made up for the modesty. It showed. It really did. "Yeah!" She grinned at him briefly, before she poured back over the buttons again. "I believe that, too!" It was then Olga commenced button smashing, because that's what noobs did during fighting games. Her noob was also clearly showing. Corey was WRECKING HER! "Ha!" She laughed, smiling regardless of getting creamed (but definitely feeling that competitive streak start to fire up). "I love it here! Everyone's been great, and there's been so many different people! Destiny City is amazing!" There was a pause as she tried holding Tira off with Sophitia's shield, in vain. "Full blown author!" She answered, distractedly. "Well---that's the plan! I want to be a romance novelist when I grow up!" If she ever did. "I've written lots of short stories, but I'm working on a book right now---" Then she got defeated. Ouch. Olga turned her head to look at Corey, still hunched over the controls, and she crooned at him, mimicking the Wicked Witch from The Wizard of Oz movie. " I'll get you, my pretty--" Her voice resumed it's normal pitch. "In round two--" She grinned and then looked back at the screen, her tongue sticking out in concentration now. Iris_virus She got DESTROYED! LOL How poetic and IC : D!

He probably should have went a little easier on her the first time. Random button mashing (though it had it's moments) had a hard time competing with the skilled craftsmanship of someone who knew exactly how to pull of the character's moves. But Olga seemed to be having fun nonetheless, so he didn't feel too bad. And the fact that she was enjoying Destiny City as well, that brought a smile to him too.
The first round over she was a good sport and he snickered some at her impression and drive, offering a enthusiastic "Bring iiiiit!" as his hand slapped the panel beside his buttons and joystick.
The second round started, but Corey was quickly distracted. "Romance?" His eyes left the screen to look towards her in surprise. Certainly not in judgement or any sort, simply surprise and curiousity. Did people go to school for that? He assumed they probably did, he didn't know very many writers in truth. The skills were likely the same whether you were writing about economics, cats, or quivering manhoods.
"I've never meet a romance novelist. That's super cool!" He mused, eyes turning back to the screen in time to try and stave off an attack. "Planning to write the next 'Fifty Shades'?" If her intent had been to distract him it was super effective because he glanced her way again as he teased, not even noticing Tira get slammed by a fairly gnarly attack.

"Oh, I'm bringing it, Corey." Bringing more button smash that is...and it was working! Well, truthfully, she probably (most definitely) had a huge advantage that he was distracted. While Corey was glancing her way, Olga kept her wide black eyes glued on the screen. "Yep! Romance!" She then gave a loud and amused snort. "Oh, don't insult me, man! What I'm writing will blow that fan-fiction lamesauce trash based off of some fan-fiction out of the water!" She was grinning widely, both at the thought, but also because SOPHITIA JUST DEALT THE WINNING BLOW! "YES!" Olga shrieked, straightening briefly to pump a fist with too much enthusiasm. She then started to pet Sophitia's head...but running her fingers along the screen. "Best fighter ever--" She cooed to the character, and then hunched over the controls again to get ready for the next round. "Imma run you out of business, guy--" Olga started, grinning widely still. "You'll never get anything done with me constantly here eating up your time to play with me!"

Round 2 to Olga! Corey looked back just in time to see the battle end, a tongue sticking out his mouth in mild disappointment. He didn't really care though. There was a 3rd round to play and he'd just have to win that one. Besides he was having fun, and she was having fun, and that was what was more important.
The final game begain, his eyes focused this time. But her reaction to his question drew an amused smirk, a hand lifting to rub the back of his head before it returned to the game pad once more. "I've got to admit I'm not much of a romance novel connoisseur.... So I don't really know what's good and what isn't. I'll trust your judgement though as an expert." He winked.
When she threatened to run him out of business via fun he couldn't help but laugh, shaking his head. Leaning over, as if to tell her some great secret, he mused following it up with a maniacal laugh. "The employees get mad when I play all day instead of working, but I'm the boss and I do what I want."
Obviously he had to do work sometimes, when machines broke down he was the only one that was there to work on them, and when there were issues with customers he of course had to step up. But Corey had a LOT of time to play and act like the giant man child he was.
