Tomoe had just finished a long shift of traveling his herd lands in patrol. He had to stretch his wings and see something new. As much as he.. tolerated his family and the small herd they had thus far, he needed a change of scenery every once in a great while. It kept the already grumpy stallion from snapping in the ugliest moods. Unfolding his large wings he took to the sky, giving them powerful flaps as he traveled some distance away. He followed a semi familiar path, one the group had traveled to their current destination. Some movement below caught his attention and he circled around to judge what it had been. It was fuzzy and things that were fuzzy were usually not welcomed. This creature was far too close to his herd for comforts sake.

Stretching out his wings to the full extent he let the wind carry him in a slow decent as he watched the area of interest. As he drew closer he could see it was with baskets, both of which didn't look like they belonged to the creature trying to juggle taking away both of them. Tomoe swooped down, giving the kalona in under a fuzzy cape one second of notice before he tackled it to the ground. With his paws he would grasp at the other soquili better than it could with lash out with hooves. He knocked the stranger away from the baskets and sneered at it before he swiped and hit the kalona with a heavy paw. The two fought on the ground for what seemed like hours before with a pant Tomoe snatched one of the baskets and took to the sky. He could try to save them both but even he couldn't take both at once. His paws had curled around the brown basket protectively. If his brothers ever saw him, he might never live this down. It wasn't like him to be concerned about any other creature. It was defenseless without him and he would swear up and down that was his reasoning. While he might have saved it for the time being, he didn't have a clue what the foal inside was. For all he could guess, it might have been a walker basket. This made the stallion take it away from his herd. He had to find a safe place for it but not with him.

The kalona wasn't finished with him. It still wanted the baskets no matter who tried to take them. It attacked again in the air. Tomoe bucked and turned to kick at it with his back paws. He tucked in his wings closer to his body and dove down close to the trees of the forest below. The kalona took advantage from above to follow suit and pounce his back knocking them both into the trees. Branches snapped and shook as both landed and continued their fight. The basket they fought over had fallen from Tomoe's grasp, leaving him open to tear at the kalona with all four paws. Gashes opened on both sides, the kalona getting the worse of it. Teeth and hooves didn't stand up as well to paws and claws. His neck and shoulder were bit several times and he might forever have a scar on his flank but he got the other scrambling out of the trees. Taking to the skies again they flew off with Tomoe pursuing the kalona this time.

The foal inside the basket had no idea it would be on such an adventure so young. Bounced and jostled around in its safe haven, squeezed and cold.? It started to feel colder around the basket and the small body inside shivered in response. Outside were many sounds that worried the little mind, mostly the flap noise of what it would only find later to be wings. Right now everything was a mystery. The foal squirmed inside its safe confinement as the sides were squeezed around it. Then a quick motion that also couldn't be explained before a few thuds and branches snapping loudly as air whooshed around the basket. There was something else it hit before it flopped to the side, cradled in a fork of a heavy branch. Left alone. It had grown rather quiet outside. It almost missed the action around it's basket. A soft sound resonated inside but didn't reach past a few inches outside its casing.

Tsumetai was sized down when I basket broke the tree branch she was in. Looking down as her eyes followed the falling basket as she just jumps off of the branch. Well what was left of it anyways and sized up a bit to the size of a bird and not the butterfly size she was. She fell quicker to the ground then the basket had with the way she jumped and the way she flew diving down head first. Then touching down on a lower branch as she sighed softly to almost a whisper as the basket then stops stuck on the branch above where she landed. Smiling as she is happy that the basket was saved by the tree. Tsumetai allowed her eyes to scan the area. Only one basket did she see. And not another living soul about the place. But was it alright for her to take the basket? Or should she wait a bit to see if a panicked parent was looking for their babe?

Thinking on it as she flew up to the top of the basket and to keep it warm. Laying down on the top of the basket. Though in her small size there isn't a lot of warmth she can give it. But if she resizes now trouble might see them as she recalled hearing the sounds of fighting. Eyes wide and her whole body on the alert as she wasn't going to leave the basket. It wasn't like it looked like her at all. The only things she and the basket shared. Were the blue color and the stripes. Maybe that would be enough be an evil no good doer came to take it.

The small body inside shifted. It seemed like it was stuck. At least for the time being it wasn't in any trouble. Something moved on top of the basket but it couldn't see what it was. It remained worried, quietly making a soft whiny inside the confines of wicker.

There were a few loud curses as the stallion with large wings flew above the trees. His body hurt, blood dripped down his back left leg. The kalona swore to find food elsewhere and would leave the baskets alone. Assuming of course that the lone light colored basket wasn't picked up by someone else while he was away. He couldn't think of that now. He had dropped that brown basket he had tried to rescue. He circled around eyeing the trees for the broken one he fell into. Surely the basket was still there around this tree. "Damn, where did you drop" he grumbled, lowering his frame enough to skim above the trees.

Finding a break in trees big enough for his wing span, Tomoe tucked them in slightly to glide down and land with a padded thud. Dark eyes peered around for what he was looking for. Finally after some time searching he found an indication of the earlier transaction, tree limbs and bits of branches on the ground below one particular tree. He glanced around, bucking his head to whip his long mane from his face. The hair decoration jingling faintly with the motion. Not seeing any sign on the ground, he turned his head to look up. "Come out basket" he said in his usual gruff tone like it would happily respond and leap to his paws. He drew closer to the trunk of the tree, eyeing the branches above.

Hearing the sounds from the basket and then the sounds on the ground as she looks about. This basket needed to come out of the tree. Hoping off of the top as she makes the choice to resize to her normal state. Doing so broke the branches and caused her to land infront of Tomoe and shortly after getting to her feet the basket lands on her back as she uses her flutter wings to shield the basket the best that she could from the cold wind. Eyeing the stallion before her as she then looks about.

"Is this young one yours?" She wonders a bit as she stays close to the tree and keeps the basket balanced well on her back. This stunt of her to get the basket free from the tree wasn't smart if she knew this huge stallion was here. Her back leg that was hurt from the Shinwalker that once had her as his toy didn't like it when she hit the ground either. But for now she is standing tall. Well tall for her seeing she is on the small side thinks to being a flutter and all. Showing no pain even if she is screaming inside her head right now with how her leg is killing her. Though she knows how to not show pain to others. Thanks to that skinwalker. At least she learned that.

Tomoe's ears twitched to the sound of creaking and snapping branches. He wasn't alone.. he straightened and shifted his wings over his back, raising them partially so he could easily spread them and take off should this be the worst of enemies. He pondered if skinwalkers even used trees when the white soquili dropped to ground level. In seconds came the brown basket with a thump against her back. Even for a male like him, that was impressive to catch. But she had the basket now which left him watching her as carefully as she was watching him.

"Tch are you blind? I had no part in fathering whatever is in that wicker.." he snapped at her question. It looked nothing like him. For all either of them knew, that basket could carry something more dangerous than innocent. His eyes narrowed "What would you want with it?" he questioned. The pale rainbow strand of long mane draped past one of his eyes and hung below it in a partial loop as the rest was tucked back behind his head somewhere amungst darker hair.

"Me? Well I am raise it as if I were it's mother like the others I have adopted over the years. What was would one do with a baby?" Her voice is just one of the sweetest sounding things there is. She watches the male before her. "You aren't an evil soul. I can tell. After all you tried to save this baby and that is why I thought it might be yours. Deep down you are a sweet one. Young and sweet even if you look so grumpy. I am Tsumetai. What might your name be?" Wondering if the stallion that stands in her path will answer her. She could tell that he was a young one.

Well younger then her anyways. That wasn't a bad thing. Her eyes scan the skies and the area before returning to Tomoe. She has a motherly side to her and it is showing. It isn't something she can hide not that she tries.

He quietly accessed the mare as she spoke truthfully over taking care of the foal. She seemed good and he had yet to hear of a bad flutter though he hadn't been too friendly towards them himself to know one personally. This was good news then. He didn't have to struggle to find it a family if she was so willing and he didn't want to be seen with it around his brothers. "I have no desire for it. You want the trouble, go right ahead."

His ears flick, was she openly accessing him in return. He didn't like what he was hearing. Not that it wasn't true, deeep down he was sweet.. some where. "Hey, if you want the basket take it. I am not here for some sort of friendship. That could be a walker for all you know. If it is, better hope the other one doesn't find out you have its sibling." His large wings untucked from his back as he lifted them a bit, already eager to take off. The only reason he was even still standing there was to make sure she really was going to take it. He wasn't heartless after all.
