Backdated to around August 1st!Umber hadn't been cruel, precisely, but there had been a certain brusqueness to him that rubbed Warhol the wrong way. Maybe that was just his way -- she didn't know, and one meeting certainly hadn't been enough to really figure it out. Not that she wanted to; Warhol figured she'd probably be better off without really trying to be friends with the Captain, because it didn't seem like he was the type of man who would care for such a thing.
It didn't hurt her feelings, because honestly, it felt a little familiar. And that was nice. Any port in a storm -- any familiar feeling -- was welcome.
But even with that, it didn't solve the problem that was her search for a name that fit, that felt right -- Sedgwick was lovely, worked as a last name, and Warhol had to admit she was a little attached to it. But as far as a first name went? Nothing stood out. No word, no noise, no picture: but something had triggered a little something, a song she half-remembered, and she began to hum, kneeling on her bed with hair pooling along the sheets and reaching the floor. Like this, Warhol could almost feel like things were okay, like her entire brain wasn't blank as anything.
Well. Almost.
And that generally only lasted until someone talked to her, in any case.Noir Songbird hope you don't mind me starting? warhol's in the infirmary in negaspace here and has been there since late july!

Kerberos had heard things - about a new corrupt in Negaspace, with a description that struck him as far too familiar. He had been in a sort of vague shutdown ever since mid-June, when he had corrupted Caledonia, moving robotically just to do his duties as an officer, but this - this had made him care, at least long enough to go down to Negaspace and get directed to the infirmary.
There weren't too many people here - just one, in fact, one corrupted Senshi with long tumbles of seafoam hair.
Kerberos felt his heart drop.
"Warhol?" He asked, and there was the slightest bit of hope in his voice. Would she recognize him? Caledonite hadn't, except as the monster that dragged him down, so he was prepared to experience that all over again, but he held onto the tiniest possibility that she might look at him and see a friend, not a stranger.Daekie Ahhh sorry for taking so long!

Warhol half-tumbled off the bed, grabbing onto it like a lifeline, far more startled than she had any right to be: she'd felt the aura in the back of her mind, but it'd still come as a surprise, to hear a human voice. (It shouldn't have been, but any time she tried to grasp at a memory her throat got all tight and her chest hurt, so she assumed it was just something that came with time, maybe. Maybe.) When she'd righted herself, standing in front of her bed and dusting off her tunic, Warhol finally looked up at her new visitor.
"That's me, yes, I'm Warhol -- sorry, do I know you?" She looked rather embarrassed, left hand behind her head and twisting a fistful of hair. "I don't, um, really remember anything from before a week ago at all; Captain Umber said he knew me before this, but if I knew you, I'm sorry if this is rude...! I just...it's all blank." Warhol gestured to her head with a shaking hand, and then finally extended the same hand to shake, looking up at Kerberos wide-eyed and genuine. "I mean, you look a little familiar, but then again I guess most people do? I haven't really met a lot of people here!"Noir Songbird warhol rambles on, entirely oblivious to kerby's heart breaking in the background

Kerberos flinched when she jumped, and felt terrible for a moment, because he had startled her. Poor thing, she had to be skittish after being corrupted - no matter what or how much she remembered.
Which was, apparently, nothing. Kerberos had to bury his hurt, but it flashed across his face for a brief moment - his ability to hide his feelings had fallen apart in the last few months, mostly because they had been painfully dulled so there was nothing to hide.
"Yes, we knew each other," he said. It was irrational to think, because he was pretty damn sure that if this was meant as a message to him he would have been there to watch, but he couldn't help but wonder if this was, somehow, his fault.
But no, that was stupid and self-centered. "We were...kind of friends." He took her hand. "Hi. I'm Kerberos." Because obviously they would have to start over.Daekie kerberos: king of irrationally feeling guilty

Warhol either didn't notice or didn't care about the hurt that flashed across Kerberos' face -- it was likely the former, at least, but likely wasn't a guarantee. Nothing about this was a guarantee. But when he took her hand, she held it solid and fast, enheartened by the feel of warm skin beneath hers. "It's nice to meet you again, Kerberos." The girl smiled -- and this time, unlike their last meeting, it wasn't like a knife; it was warm and gentle and excited, the way a girl her age should smile.
"How did we meet? What was I like? I'm trying to figure out that sort of stuff, since I can't leave here yet, so...something about how they need to set up a new identity for me. I mean, I remember my birthday, I'm fifteen, so...but whoever I was, I guess her parents must be pretty worried. I'm sorry if I'm being pushy!" A flicker of embarrassment, and Warhol blushed; was she talking too much? Asking too much? It felt that way, but it was hard to tell.Noir Songbird your words kept her from getting herself corrupted a month earlier than she did, kerby, that's a good thing :V

There was something strangely relieving about seeing Warhol smile like that. And maybe if in taking away her memories, corruption had taken away whatever pain she was suffering, it was a good thing. His heart still ached to see her under the Negaverse's thumb at all, because no one deserved to be trapped there, but at least she was...something approaching happy.
"Oh god," Kerberos said, when she asked how they met, and he had to laugh, just a little. "I was drunk. Like, had-a-really-bad-drinking-problem drunk. You yelled at me, it was actually really sweet." He swallowed. "You were sweet. Seems like you still are." He wanted her to be, at least. Please, please let Chaos not have destroyed that in her.
"I'd like to get to know the new you, though."Daekie but she still got corrupted, it doesn't count :C

The way Warhol looked at him was clueless, blank behind the eyes, but still cheerier than she'd ever been before this had happened -- back then, she'd looked like something was dying behind her eyes. Having nothing might have been better for her; now, there was nothing to worry about, no fear, no real danger. Just a kind of gentle, fuzzy, happiness -- and there was something good in that.
The way Kerberos laughed made her laugh too, giggling soft under her breath. "I mean, um, it seems like you stopped...? That's good! That's really good, and you do look good, so I'm happy that worked out for you." His statement that she'd been 'sweet' did make Warhol kind of raise an eyebrow, confused; "I don't really know yet...? But, um, what Umber said about this was that I was basically making reparations for some officers I hurt badly, and that I could do a lot more good on this side than the other...and from what I can tell...I was really, really unhappy as I was." A spectre of hurt flashed across her face, and the girl bit her lip, nowhere near hard enough to bleed but just enough to catch it between two teeth. "From what I've heard. But I didn't want to join, so that's why my memories are gone. At least...that's what I've figured out."
"...but I'd like to get to know you, too. You don't seem like a bad guy, you know...? You seem like a good person."Noir Songbird for maximum heartbreak, get post-purification rp with kerberos and her and she has a fit over him calling her warhol also that bit of 'you don't seem like a bad guy' is directly quoted from their first rp because i love to sin

Kerberos winced, a little, when she mentioned that he'd stopped. "Yeah, I uh, mopped myself up a couple months ago." Not on his own, but he didn't need to terrify her with that.
The cell he'd been trapped in wasn't too far from here, probably. He really, really didn't like thinking about how close it might be, and rather than letting himself get lost back there, he focused on Warhol - on how although she looked blank, she at least looked happy. Maybe she would do better with the Negaverse than he had.
"You...yeah. You told me about one of them. He was going to hurt a little girl -- you saved her life, Warhol, but it tore you up." He remembered the name Umber - someone he wanted to avoid, because obviously he was exactly the dangerous kind of officer who could ruin another person's - a teenage girl's - life and not blink. "I hope you're happier than you were." And he meant it, too.
The words were all too familiar. She'd said it before, too - that he didn't seem like a bad person. "People keep telling me that. Pretty sure they're wrong, but it's nice that you think so." He wanted to be the kind of person she seemed to think he was, but he'd ruined that long ago. If not with Caledonite's corruption, than before that, with the murder she'd committed.Daekie i am always down for maximum feels FOR WE ARE ALL SINNERS AND SUFFERERS HERE

"That's good, that's really good!" Warhol smiled, eagerly, at the mention of Kerberos mopping himself up; she was genuinely happy for him, practically glowing. It was a little endearing, and a little frightening: she had maybe a week of memories in her empty skull, and it didn't seem to worry her at all beyond a few throwaway sentences. She'd be easy fodder to manipulate, to sculpt. But none of that mattered to Warhol, obviously. Why would it? All she wanted to be was useful.
At 'it tore you up', she winced, because what else could she do? "I mean, I think I'm happier? But I can't really tell. I feel pretty happy, but I don't have anything to compare it with -- mostly I've been trying to figure out a name. They said they're working on setting me up with someone to live with, too, so I can go back to school when it starts this summer!"
A soft, gentle smile, and Warhol reached up to pat Kerberos on the shoulder. "You're a good person. I can tell when I look at you. You feel bad about the awful stuff you might have done, right? If you were a bad person, you'd just want to do it again."Noir Songbird if you want i could start a kerberos/chrysocolla rp! :O

God, it hurt to see Warhol so excited. She had no idea what she was getting into, he knew that much - because no one ever knew what they were really getting into, with the Negaverse. She wouldn't stay happy for long - or she would end up content in her role, he supposed, but he didn't want to imagine that Warhol was the type of person who could be happy hurting people.
"I hope you are happier." He said, because that was the best that could possibly come out of this. "I hope everything works out, and that you end up living somewhere comfortable - but anything's gotta be better than here, right?" He joked. "Negaspace isn't exactly comfortable." Though his experience with it and hers were probably leagues apart. No one was locking her up down here, draining her energy.
He swallowed, looked away, blatant avoidance of meeting her eyes. "I guess," he said. It wasn't that he didn't feel horrible - but he kept doing bad things, guilt or not. He could say he felt bad all he wanted, but it didn't matter if he didn't do anything about it.Daekie SUPER LATE AS I ALWAYS AM, BUT YES, PLEASE, OH GOD PLEASE

She was leagues happier than she'd ever appeared in the White Moon, that much was so easily clear. Her face wasn't blotchy with unshed tears, and she smiled easily, without the hesitance: with Warhol's memories gone, so had such inhibitions. She didn't know to be afraid: after all, this was the only thing she knew. And all she knew was people being kind.
"I'll let you know," Warhol promised, endlessly kind. "I'll let you know who I end up living with and how everything is, okay? I promise. You won't have to worry...Laurelite said she'll probably put me with another Senshi, too, and one that's not too old. I'm excited." She patted his arm when he looked away. "Don't say 'I guess'. I believe in you. You are a good person."

Was it wrong, Kerberos wondered, for him to be glad she was so much happier in the Negaverse? Maybe it was the right choice for her - maybe she would be better here. Maybe she would thrive, when he hadn't.
(Maybe it was something wrong with him, not with the organization.)
He nodded. She would be put up with someone her own age - that was good. "I've never dealt with Laurelite, but she sounds decent." Zinkenite had always been his General-King, even if the man wasn't around now. "Whoever it is - I hope they're good to you." Because that was what she deserved.
He laughed, a little, but refused to further address her insistence that he was a good person. She was more wrong than she would ever know, but that didn't matter. "If you ever need anything, just ask, and I'll do whatever I can to help you, okay?"

Maybe it was something wrong with Kerberos, not with the Negaverse -- and maybe it was something that the Negaverse did to people that he'd somehow escaped. Maybe it'd twist her, too. Hopefully it wouldn't.
Maybe it was something wrong with her, that she smiled so easily here.
"Laurelite's really nice," Warhol murmured, feet tapping the floor. "If you meet her, you'll know it...she's not very tall, but she kind of -- radiates power. You want to listen to her, just because of the way she carries herself. And if I need anything, I'll ask you, I promise...! I'll be good." She looked so endlessly hopeful, and it almost hurt to see.

Kerberos nodded, and filed away the description. General-Sovereigns felt like that - like the best thing to do in their presence was just to kneel.
He took a breath and reached out to wrap his arms around her, giving her a tight, affectionate hug. "You don't need to worry about being good, I think it comes naturally." He said. She certainly wasn't going to disappoint a General and suffer for it, he suspected. Or commit treason. Or any of the things he had done.
"I'll come see you down here again, okay? Or wherever you end up set up."

All Warhol did was almost-unconsciously nuzzle into the hug, his body heat a calming presence. "Don't flatter me like that...I don't really know enough to know if it comes naturally or anything. But I'm going to try my hardest, I promise!" She pulled away, nodding strongly, brows furrowed. "You don't have to if it's a problem or anything, I'll be okay."
Her smile was so kind.
She had no idea what they were going to do to her. None at all.
