No one ever sent Anxo mail. Days and days would past and his little metal cabinet forever remained empty. Not even ads graced him with their presence, trying to entice him into stopping by, and stars knew that the would if someone cared enough to send something! Why did he even bother to check the mail? Perhaps because there was just a tiny bit of hope every day that someone would send him something, even just a bill! Everything seemed to be electronic nowadays, so even that was unlikely.
And today seemed even less of a reason to be optimistic about wanting to check the mailbox. It was pouring down raining, the sky was grey and cold and the angry old lady who sat outside her apartment every day look particularly angry today. Anxo could barely make his way inside before she shouted at him for making 'too much noise' last night! How could she have even heard him?! He lived on the fourth floor, and she on the first! But of course, he just quietly nodded and apologized, far more ready to appease her most grouchiness than to defend himself. Resigned to a day of sad internet surfing, he sluggishly walked to the mailbox opening it up with the expectation of everyday emptiness.
And yet he was pleasantly surprised by what was inside! And that was putting it mildly! He was down right estatic about what he saw! It was a hand written note, a coupon for buy one get a DOZEN cookies free! It was so adorable.. And there was a little written sprawl of an address and scribbles all over it saying "COME HERE! WE HAVE THE BEST SWEETS!" How could he refuse! How could he let some precious little cinnamon roll's intentions go to waste?!
Despite still holding onto his backpack and dripping wet, Anxo spun on his heel and headed back out into the rain. The Sweet little place was just a few blocks away and the door rang out when he entered. And he stood there, dripping wet, looking around and holding the now slightly damped ad in his hand, wondering where it's owner might be.
Kyuseisha no Hikari I hope this is okay! I wasn't sure if Arias actually does coupons, but Orange thought it would be HECKA ADORABLE if there were little ones handed out by his sister, and I THOUGHT IT WAS A GREAT IDEA! Let me know if I need to change anything to better suit you!

A&H Bakeries was a snug little place that, in better weather, usually had far more business. A few faces had stuck around for a while when the rain picked up, but even they had trickled out—and no one had replaced them.
Which wasn't entirely unpleasant; the lack of customers gave Arias ample time to get the place cleaned up, to pack up a few orders for delivery, to fall asleep at the register…
If only for a moment. These late night adventures were taking their toll on him, and he was starting to think a day off might actually be a good idea. Still mulling over the prospect of such a strange, foreign concept, he had been absentmindedly scrubbing the top of the counter when a familiar noise informed him that someone had entered the shop. His eyes immediately wandered to the waterlogged male and he stood up a little straighter.
"Hey," he greeted pleasantly, though his smile faded somewhat at the drenched clothes. He didn't know if the young man had come in as a customer or just to get out of the rain, but it didn't matter; he wasn't going to let him stand over there in a puddle of cold water "—Oh, hey, you must be freezing. Come on over here, I'll get you some hot chocolate or coffee or something. I've got the heat on, so if you stand under the vent it might help."

"Hehe, Afternoon!" Despite the thorough sogginess that Anxo was experiencing he still felt so chipper! The little handwritten ad was still held in his hands, dripping a little on the edges from the downpour.
"I'm not too terribly cold! I got something that just made me so excited I feel warm all over! ... But a cup of coffee does sound lovely, thank you!" At the suggestion of the young man he moved to stand underneath the previously mentioned vent. He really didn't want to drip everywhere especially with his hair being as drenched as it was, so he took it and stuffed it down the back of his light coat, which he really should have done sooner.
"So sorry about the mess.. It's like a typhoon outside! But I got something and I just.. You know when you get so excited and you just want to do something you hear about right away? Yes, that's exactly what happened!"
Now that he was ever so slightly warmer, he offered the little handwritten note to the proprietor, tucking a random strand of wet hair behind his ear with the other hand. He could just smell the conditioner that started to drip off of him.
"I'm.. sure this isn't the case, but I have a little note with the address of this lovely place.. And a deal that says when you buy a cookie.. You get a dozen free. Such a steal, you know? I just had to investigate!"

"I understand," Arias said, tentative smile on his face. Anxo's excitement was contagious and he had quickly gotten up to pour a simple, warm cup of coffee for the man when he mentioned the note. His brows furrowed and he tried to recall if they were having any insane promotions like that. There were a few, sent out in the email, but…buy one cookie, get a dozen free?
…It couldn't have been a typo; they weren't even doing a promotion on cookies this week.
But…this gentleman seemed so happy, Arias just…didn't know what was going on.
"Oh?" he prompted, smile pressed onto his face. He moved the Styrofoam cup away from the coffee machine and held it out for the male. "Would you mind terribly if I…asked to see that note?"

"Ah, sure sure! Feel free to look at it! It doesn't seem real though since it's written in crayon and and the script of a kid. But who wouldn't want to check out a place that has such high regard by a kid?" The soggy piece of parchement was gladly handed over in favor for the warm cup of coffee. Before he was off to the small counter to laden it up with sugar and cream, he reached into his pocket to pull out his wallet and a few dollars for a coffee and perhaps a different sweet.
"For now.. May I have a glazed croissant? And.. Could I perhaps treat you to something too? I'm sure you have your own little supply you snack on, but it'd be even better if you could make a profit off of it too, yes?" This man had already looked so sleepy, so maybe a bit of coffee would perk him up. Moreso than a conversation with an overly excited wet puppy could.
"I'm Anxo, by the way! Of course, you probably don't want my whole life story right now. hehe... That's for another time, after this whole thing is sorted out, yes?"

Arias struggled to retain the smile as Anxo described the coupon, and when he gave it a look over he knew exactly whose handwriting that was.
"You may absolutely have a glazed croissant," he said somewhat absentmindedly; it took him only a few seconds to produce one of the items from the display and pass it over. He didn't even reach for the bills; his eyes were too set on the note.
It was cute, but…
…But…
"—I'm fine, thank you," he said, as if remembering that Anxo had spoken. "I'm sorry, I just." There was a hint of a smile again, but it was exasperated. "—It's a pleasure to meet you, Anxo. My name is Arias. And it would seem that your coupon is a product of my sister's imagination. If you don't mind, I think…I need to speak with her."
He was still holding her handwritten advertisement and took a few steps back to be closer to the stairwell hidden in the back. He knew that the door was open up there and that she should have been able to hear him, so he called, "Carlee? —Can I borrow you down here for a moment?"
Again, he offered an apologetic look to Anxo. "—This will be just a moment. I hope."

Carlee made a face as Arias called for her. She had been upstairs, minding her own business and working on yet another badge for Girl Scouts. That wasn’t a very happy uh. Way he said her name so maybe she was in trouble for something…and honestly the only thing she could think of being in trouble for was…
The coupons…whoops. If someone actually came in with one of those and Arias found out then…well…she could always just play innocent. Or blame it on someone else or…
Or just deal with the consequences. But she had a good reason, seriously. Business at the bakery had been so slow and if she was going to be getting a job here soon when she was old enough…well, she had to do what she had to do to keep the place afloat.
The girl hesitated for as long as she could before dragging herself down the stairs and making her way to Arias, looking like a disheveled elf. “Yes big brother? What can I do for you?”
Her eyes landed on the other male in the room and suddenly, she was somewhat excited. Was this him? Was this the guy? “Arias! Is this your boyfriend? Are you going to introduce me to him? Oh this is so epic!”
And then her eyes flicked to the handwritten add in Arias’s hand and she almost let her smile drop. Oh well. Time to play dumb. She could be good at that sometimes.

Anxo received his croissant and coffee graciously, and leaned against the counter top while awaiting the arrival of someone named 'Carlee'. Needless to say the flaky, sugary, piece of heaven was more divine than the sun itself. It was on a whole 'nother level compared to all the other's he had had at this point in time in his life. It was as if a mixture of rainbows and butterflies decided to marry starlight and sunshine and together they produced a beautiful child, which was this croissant! It's deliciousness could only distract him for so long before something else otherworldly came into his sight.
There was a significant amount of internal screaming that filled Anxo's head as a bouncy kid came... Bouncing down the stairs. She was adorable with a head of curls just... Just there! It was so big, and floofy and adorable and there was nothing Anxo could say so inside his head he kept going "OMGOMGOMGOMG THIS CUTE LITTLE CHILD! TOO CUTE!" and on his outside he just made the most peculiar grin which, mixed with the amount of sugar on his face, just made him seem really out there. Of course, having already come into the store with an obviously fake coupon must have been the first hint. Once the lass had mentioned him being his boyfriend, Anxo did not skip a beat to reply, quickly wiping off his mouth before speaking.
"Sadly, I've just met this handsome man. But if he is as sweet and amazing as his baked goods are..." he turned his gaze to Arias and gave a very, very exaggerated wink. "Take me, I'm yours!"

Arias had never intended to get mad at Carlee (as if he really could); he'd just wanted to give her a serious talk about what she had done. But now, all thought of that were flying out the window. His lips were pursed tightly in a stoic expression, but his ears were burning at the mention of boyfriend.
"…No, Carlee," he said somewhat stunned between her words and those of the man across the counter; he tried to flash a smile at how charming the young man next to him was, but he seemed embarrassed enough as is. It had taken a few seconds after Arias had spoken for Anxo's words to even fully settle in and Arias' eyes suddenly jerked back to him. "—What? I'm not taking anyone. I mean—what?" he said quickly, almost fumbling over his own words.
He looked at Carlee as if that would clarify anything, but then he realized that it was his job to say something and not scar his poor, young sister for life.
So to change the topic, he put the coupon back on the counter with a little more force than necessary and, cheeks red, blurted, "I'll honor this coupon. Whatever you want, done."

Carlee just blinked at this man who Arias had just said was not his boyfriend…but there he was saying he wouldn’t mind if he was so…Well…that was kind of awkward and uncomfortable. She just watched, very quietly, though couldn’t stop a grin from forming as Arias got more and more embarrassed…that was kind of adorable.
“Arias, you can’t just give him whatever he wants, because clearly what he wants is you to take him, and you just said no to that so…”
All right. So now she was just being mean…but…but if it kept her out of trouble for the coupon that was what mattered. “You’ll have to forgive my brother, he’s not very good at understanding his feelings, he just told me he had a boyfriend like, last month or something and I still haven’t met him so I was sure that this was my chance and you were going to be him. He does have a boyfriend though so I’m afraid he’s not going to take you anywhere, but I’m sure he’ll make you up a bunch of cookies that you can take out yourself. That’s almost as good as being taken by my brother, right?”

GAHHHH!?!?! What was with this family?! Why were they all so adorable! This man before him just flushed more and more and it was a mixture of flattering and adorable and Anxo felt like he could just sit down with his coffee here in the shop and tease him all day!
What he didn't take into account, however, was the little sister going along with what he said for a bit, THEN turn the conversation on him. As his own face started to heat up, he wondered vaguely if the girl knew exactly what he was talking about. Or was it more innocent than the context would have one believe. Either way, were he any less of a flirt, he would have been speechless.
"Aaah, to have such a wonderful offer taken right away from me, my heart weeps. But how about an offer of friendship? And more baked goods. Because I won't even lie, this croissant is like ambrosia to my lips." Were it not for the younger kid here, he would have most definitely made it dirtier and dirtier, but this was not the time to embarrass a person into a hole. And just how cheesy was that line! He had been hanging out way too often with the actors in the theater.
"I would be lying if I were to say that I didn't come out here hoping to meet new people. And I did! So no need to honor the coupon. You could honor something else, and we could hang out sometime! Oh, perhaps that's a bit too forward.. Hehe... Not that this conversation wasn't already awkward. Hang out as FRIENDS. Yes? I bake too, but I'm lazy has hell so.. Yeah, I'm here! Ha.. Hahahaha.." Anxo was just digging himself into a deeper and deeper hole, so he just decided to just sip his coffee to shut himself up.

Arias stared blankly, horrified at Carlee. He couldn’t even think and it was all he could manage just to reach a hand up to cover his face as if it would hide his shame. He barely heard Anxo's words; instead he was just eyes on her, boring into her as if he could wordlessly ask what are you doing to me.
It wasn't for a long moment of silence that he even realized he might need to say something, and he hastily racked his brain to remember what had been said while he was swimming in humiliation.
He stumbled over his words for a while and his finally spoke they were muffled and quiet. "I will give you cookies," he promised, "And friendship, if we forget the rest of this conversation ever happened." He lowered his hand and looked between the two of them. "And please, never remind me of it, again. Deal?"

Carlee swallowed and coughed lightly. “So…if I don’t mention it again…you can’t be mad at me. That’s all. No big deal…um…”
She looked around the café and put on her best poker face, walking back towards the counter and pulling out a cookie from inside the case. “On that note, I’m heading back upstairs, Arias. I love you soooooooooo much big brother, don’t you forget that!”
Giving a little smile at Anxo, she waved. “Thanks for coming! Have fun with my brother! Bye!”
She ran then. Darting upstairs as fast as her legs could carry her, slamming the door to Arias’ apartment as gently as she could…
Well. Whoops. She had just tried to be helpful.

"I really don't know if I can take that deal. It's just so memorable! First meetings are always awkward, and this one is the best one by far! I love it!" How could such an idea even be suggested to him, forgetting their first meeting. The first meetings were always fantasic to Anxo, even ones that went about this way.
"There's nothing to be ashamed of, it's all in good fun, right? Oh! Have a good evening, Miss Carlee!" Having her her name called out a few times before, he called after the girl who scrambled back up the stairs. Hopefully this man before him really was as kind as he looked and wouldn't be too harsh on such a kind-hearted seeming kid.
"Though.. If it really does bother you, consider it forgotten. Shall we start over then?"

IArias just looked after his little sister and sighed, exasperated. "…I am so sorry," he said, turning back to Anxo. "I'm new to this. I haven't introduced her to my boyfriend because I know she's going to start sprouting things like that, and to be honest, I'm afraid she won't approve and it's all very embarrassing. I haven't even come out to the rest of my family—and I'm sure that's too much information, you don't want to hear that, so let's start over—all over—now, and I'll just take this coupon and we can pretend like I said it is perfect and I'll get you whatever you want. All right?"
He flashed a hopeful smile, still red from his nose to his ears.
"…I am sorry if I made you feel uncomfortable, though. I'm still…getting used to this whole thing. I'm trying to be a good role model and all because—you know how impressionable little sisters are—but…She seems to be having too much fun making me squirm and getting me into trouble..."
