Why did your human character choose to become a Hunter? Ember, uh...romanticizes the supernatural, basically. He saw a supercool (super AWFUL) zombie invasion and got REALLY ******** NOSY.
It did not end well for about anyone, and there was a chance to join the
guys (and girls) saving the day. That or lose his memories? Yeah, no: he's taking the cool way out.
The official story is that he died while in quarantine.
