(This rp is backdated to just after the META battle with the Alkidike extremists in Sauti. As Dris was a Prentice at the time this will not count for her reqs, but she's important to the scene so she stays. c: )
Dris'rynne 1
Accompanying the caravan back to Jauhar was a rather petite Shifter, whose lone eye took in the scenary. Dris'rynne had never been beyond the very fringes of Tale, so the vast open landscape around her was something of a vision. It was open, mountainous, and the air was far too cool for her liking. There hadn't been a day that had past where Dris'rynne wasn't shivering. The air itself had the young girl on edge; it was golden, as if the sun itself were joined in the mist.
Which was ridiculous because air shouldn't have a color. AT ALL.
Dris' bare feet were sore and aching. She hadn't thought to bring a pair of boots with her. Why should she? Jauhar's trees were all she needed to be accustomed to, but Sauti's crags were brutal. They scrapped at her skin, and brought blood.
All in all...she couldn't wait to go home.
"...Are there any plants here at all? Or is it all stone?"
Callum 1
"They're sparse." Dris'rynne turned her head to see the lanky boy she'd patched up coming up to her. He'd been unconscious for most of the trip, and he didn't look much better now. Callum's already pale parlor was nearly as white as his hair. The young swordsman held a noticeable hand on the bandages surrounding his waist, but his gait was steady. "Resources aren't as bountiful here as they are in Jauhar. Many of our visitors are in a bad way until they find a guide."
His hair was pulled up into a messy bun in a sad attempt to keep the strands away from his healing back and side. Unfortunately, Callum had a lot of hair and more of it was spilling out by the moment. "Thanks, for helping me. They said you were the one who kept me from bleeding out until a healer could patch me up."
Dris'rynne grunted and nodded her head.
Callum grinned. "You're kind of cute when you stub up."
That earned him a full frown and he had to laugh.

Dris'rynne 2
Dris'rynne kept up her pace, regardless of just how red her cheeks had turned. She tugged at the shawl around her shoulders, pulling it close to battle the chilled air, but mostly to hide her flushed skin.
"Someone had to keep you together." Turning her gaze towards the hybrid, Dris quipped, "Haven't you heard of dodging? I swear, from the look of your wounds it looks like you just charged in without thinking." Maybe he was one of those berserkers she had heard about; the type that only became truly wild in battle. Granted, he didn't seem the type to her, but appearances were only skin deep.
Callum 2
For the most part Callum put on a brave show of muddling through his pain. He had ingested enough local herbs to mellow it out to a dull ache, but the feeling made him drowsy. The longer he walked the more uneven his steps became. Although, Dris did get easier to talk to once the medicine finally kicked in.
"It was my first fight. Well, my first real fight. One where I could stand up for myself." He pressed his hand against his bandaged side, the movement dropped more hair than ever onto his shoulders. One obnoxiously long section fell across his chest down to his knees. "You didn't have to stay with me so long. There were others that needed you a lot more than me. I would have been fine."

Dris'rynne 3
Dris'rynne snorted. "Your first fight, and you chose to take on seasoned Alkidike blades? You're either extremely stupid, or you have a death wish. Maybe both." She kept an eye on his gait, judging by the tension in his torso that he wasn't feeling as well as he get putting on. Like the stubborn fool he was, the idiot wasn't riding in the wagon like the rest of the wounded.
"You're a friend of Talisia's and you were dying. I couldn't just walk away. I owe her too much to just sit back while someone she cares about bleeds out." If Dris'rynne's tone was dry before it gained a bit of bite now. "Besides, it was my fault your wound got infected. If I had cleaned it earlier, looked for the signs, then I could have prevented-"
Callum 3
Placing a hand on the younger girl's shoulder, he turned her just enough so that he could look into her eye. "You did what you could, Dris'rynne, and it's more than I deserve. It was a war zone; I would have thought it odd if you didn't miss something. You must have been terrified."
Gods knew he had been. With those women bearing down on him, blades cutting into his skin, seeing Talisia go up against them, knowing Ming'we was in the frey but he couldn't see her..."Besides, my fever is gone now, and I feel fine." Even through her shawl he could feel the warmth of her skin, and the bumps across her shoulder blades that were her crystals. Many a time he had flirted with her, if only to get a rise out of her, but he had settled since then. When she threatened to cut off his manhood Callum had to rethink his approach.
"Has anyone ever told you how absolutely luscious your lips look?"

Dris'rynne 4
Had the young shifter had been born with hackles they would have been raised. Just the feeling of his hand on her shoulder was enough to make her tense, but the way he was looking at her...
If Callum thought she was terrified before, then he would have been surprised to learn that at least during war, she could focus. Now? Now she was just trying to keep her breathing steady, and failing miserably. "O-only a half drugged wounded hybrid in the middle of Sauti." Why is he leaning in? Why is he getting so close? ...Gods, he smells good...
Suddenly Dris'rynne raised both of her hands and shoved him away with all of her might. "Get your hand off me, halfbreed whore!"
Callum 4 A sharp cry of pain ripped out of Callum when he hit the ground. The fresh wounds on his back felt as if they had been set aflame, and his side didn't feel any better. He curled inward onto his left side, clutching his bandages as best he could.
"Whore?" He curled his lip on a bark of laughter. "What if I am? It's not as if you could ever afford me." She must have seen him, then. The way he was around others, the way he never went to sleep alone...Callum could no more move to get up than he could control his breathing. The pain rolled over his drug induced haze, forcing his entire body to clench around itself.

Dris'rynne 5
"You make me sick." Dris'rynne ground out. "Flitting from tent to tent, smiling at anyone who says something nice to you...It's as if you have no value for yourself at all!" Seeing him lying there, prone on the ground, stirred something inside of her. She would have much preferred him mobile for her verbal assault, but she couldn't bring herself to help him.
"Why would I ever accept a kiss, or anything else, from someone whose lips have touched half of Tendaji! You smile and smile and smile, but it never reaches your eyes." Perhaps it was the stress of the battle...or the stress of seeing so many die in her arms...but Dris'rynne had snapped. "You're like water. It's cool and comforting, and molds around everything. But the only thing you can see in water is your own reflection. You have no sense of self so you twist everything you do to suit others."
Callum 5
For the first time in a long, long while Callum was speechless. He listened with widened eyes as Dris'rynne tore into him, exposing him to the raw Sauti heat. To him she looked frustrated, torn between wanting to help and not knowing how to help. Was there any help for him?
Whatever the answer, it didn't settle well with Callum.
He ground his teeth, and pulled himself up as far as he could before launching himself at her. Callum's surprise attack knocked Dris'rynne onto her back. It was a struggle to keep her there, but pure adrenaline gave him strength.
With an angered roar he reared back and punched her square in the jaw.
