Charlbury was low in the bushes. Her pupils were almost round with excitement. In front of her, she saw her prey. It was a rabbit, a deep green with lighter patterns in patches in her fur. She nibbled at grass and kept a wary watch around her, but not wary enough. Charlbury watched her, entirely unseen.
Behind her, she could almost feel the disapproval radiating off of Mr. Shuffle. Her own white rabbit glared at her, even pausing from staring at his watch to pursue this new aggravation.
Charl flicked him an irritated look. He had it all wrong. She wanted to catch the rabbit, yes, but not to eat her. She wanted to catch her to take home. Mr. Shuffle needed a friend, and she was determined to bring one home for him. Her haunches wiggled. She was ready... ready...
And the chase was on!
She sprung forward, paws spread and ready for the catching.

In an instant, Clef went from calm to panicked. She didn't stop for a moment to think about how the shape coming at her was a soquili. It was clearly a predator, whatever it was, and she followed her instincts. She bolted immediately, making for the dense bushes she saw ahead.

Charlbury's paws slammed into the earth where the rabbit had stood just a moment earlier. Drat! She'd missed it with her first strike. She knew from playing with Shuffle that rabbits were quick and their fast turning could leave a soquili in the dust. She didn't have much time to work with before the rabbit was gone forever.
Her back legs hit ground and pushed off again. Once more, she reached out with her paws. This time she felt them graze something, the tail! She tried to close her claws on it, but she was left with just fluff. That rabbit was fast, and it wasn't giving up easily.
