Layla had probably been the first member of her team to enter Taurus Cabin, considering how empty it was. She hadn't really felt like socializing in any of the other train cars so she had headed straight here after boarding. For a while she had sat around looking for an out of the way place to store her bags, but before long she was fiddling with random items around the cabin and moving from place to place with anxious energy.
To distract herself she began playing with one of her experiments. It wasn't much; simply a little surgical tools mixed with organic matter, but she hoped to make it into something more interesting soon. Layla toiled for hours without realizing it. She forgot that she was even on a train, and when she finally set the experiment down and looked around she realized something very important.
She was bored out of her mind.
With a sigh Layla flopped down onto the nearest bed. Her long pale hair pooled around her head as her hood slid back. She hated her hair. It reminded her of a really old mop for some reason. It didn't matter how much she washed it, it always looked.... rough. Even when it felt soft. That didn't really matter though. It's not like she was trying to impress people with looks. At least her eyes were pretty. The blue in her irises was brilliant; a gift from her mom no doubt. For a few minutes she let herself lay sprawled in silence. Using the time as a sort of short meditation. She needed to do something, anything at this point. Then there came a soft growl from under her bed and she gasped flipping herself over and peeking under. She had completely forgot Charles!
The little ghoul whined pathetically at her from in his cage. It wasn't like it was impossible for him to get out. He was stronger then his size suggested, but he was such a good boy. Layla smiled and cooed to him reaching under the bed to pet him through the bars of his carriage. Her long hair brushing the floor like the mop it was and her black hoop earrings dangled upside-down on her ears.
"You bored too Charles? Don't worry. I'm sure someone will come along eventually." He responded with affectionate little growls as he clasped her fingers and Layla decided to pass the time with talking to her childhood friend. It would help pass the time till one of the other team Taurus members showed up.

THUMP... BUMP... WHAM! went the cabin door, only after the third hit with Cory's boot did it open enough for him to squeeze through with his luggage; a backpack, toolbelt, dufflebag, and dog carrier with his dog Stevie inside. As the door opened however, he just stood there with his foot in the air looking perhaps overly surprised that there was someone else in the cabin already. Then he checked his watch and sighed, realizing he had been completely out of it when he was trying to find his room for the trip. He dropped his foot to the ground and smiled boyishly and entered the cabin, making sure Stevie wouldn't be banged against the door. "Hiya!" He greeted, putting his stuff on the bed opposite the girl's. Long blonde hair and crystal clear eyes; though he was used to seeing it in Connecticut, he still thought it was one of the prettier combinations he'd come across. "This is Taurus, right? I'm Cory Anderson, nice to meet you." He said, thumping down on his bed as he set the pet carrier on the ground. Stevie stirred sleepily, one eye peeking open lazily before it closed again with a huff. She was much to tired to really notice the other dog... "Wait a second." Stevie seemed to think, jumping up and sniffing at the edge of her cage before letting out a curious bark. She barked again and growled, though there wasn't any harshness in it. "That's no dog!" She seemed to be thinking, barking more and whining as she rubbed against the cage. Cory just calmed her, opening up the cage to hold her in his arms, though she squirmed a bit. "Calm down, you butt." He growled, blowing in the dog's fur gently. "Sorry about her, she gets excited. Do you have a pet, too?" He asked, still wrestling with Stevie as she tried to investigate.

Layla had brought her head back up in curiosity as the loud thumps and bangs of the newcomer greeted her ears. When he froze staring at her in surprise all she did in return was stare; lips slightly parted to give a greeting, but frozen in this strange moment of awkwardness.
The boy released his statuesque pose after checking his watch. Layla sighed along with him as the strange tension of surprise melted away. Her lips curled up in a soft, timid smile as she watched him sit and listened to his introduction.
"Hello, Cory. My name is Layla Duskhill. It's nice to meet you as well." Layla sat herself up properly on the bedside to face her new teammate. "This is the Taurus Cabin, yes. No one else but me has arrived here though."
When his dog started barking in the vicinity of Charles she blushed and instinctively covered him up with her legs to block any line of view. When Cory asked if she had a pet, Layla could only turn a shade darker. Which was easy considering how pale she was. "U-um.. Sort of.." She looked down at her lap knowing Charles was right below her. She wasn't sure how she wanted to introduce her little friend. He wasn't exactly a traditional "pet".

Cory grinned, happy that his teammate seemed pretty chill. He was expecting a team full of men, but he was rather relieved there was at least one girl. And, he said as much. "Don't take this the wrong way, Layla, but I am sooooo happy that you're a chick. I mean, a team full of dudes? Way too much testosterone. I would literally die." He said, wrestling with Stevie again. She was getting used to the smell of the creature, but she was still curious as a codfish. "I take it you haven't met any of the others, then. I kinda got lost, so I'm not sure if I've seen them or not." He explained, absentmindedly shuffling himself on the bed, eyes darting up and down at her. He wasn't checking her out, really, just getting a visual hold on her. She seems the type to ghost or fade away at any moment, given how pale she was- Was she blushing? "Sort of? Now you're making me curious. It can't be all that bad, right?" He asked with a laugh, cocking his head to try and see passed her legs. He squinted his eyes slightly, but that still didn't do the trick. "I warn you, I've very clever- Well, clever and handsome, but I will~ figure it out if you don't come clean with me~!" He grinned. He hoped she had a sense of humour and would laugh at his boasting and loosen up a bit more. If he was right about this school, or if his grandparents were, rather, then this place was going to turn out to be very special. He wanted to know all he could about the other students before he really had to deal with them in classes.

Layla couldn't help but to giggle at the boys admission about not wanting too many boys, and his boasting. "I haven't seen any of the others either. I've just been holed up in here pretty much." His words took a little edge off her nervousness and she smiled at him putting her hands up in defeat. "Alright, I suppose I can't keep him a secret forever. Just.. don't be alarmed? He's not a.. normal pet." She gave him her best pleading look hoping he wouldn't freak out or anything. It was always awkward when someone freaked out because of Charles.
Layla bent over and peeked between her legs peering at her little Charles. He peeked back out at her and she sighed reaching under the bed and undoing his lock. "Alright Charles. It's time to meet one of our new classmates." He gave a soft little growl of acknowledgment and waddled into her awaiting hands. Layla lifted him out from under the bed and the wrinkly little creature swathed in tattered cloth sat in her lap quite non-chalantly. He was no bigger then Cory's dog and his long, thin fingers were tipped with sharp little claws. His eyes were a milky translucent green that curiously took in the dog and boy as Layla patted his hump.
"Grawwrr," greeted Charles. His little body bobbing with the scratchy growl-like bark.

Cory nodded, contented enough that he was the first to meet this teammate. It was like a little secret, he thought. His ever present grin grew even wider and he let out a "Whoot!" of a cheer, seeing he'd "won" her over, so to speak, as she allowed her own secret's reveal. He waited patiently, and for once Stevie shut up as the girl spoke her little warning of a plea. He nodded again, making sure to keep a solid hold on his dog. He watched her closely as she leaned over, seeing more of her pretty hair drop as she did, before she reached down and pulled out a-
"Holy- Holy mother of all that- Dude!" He exclaimed, dropping his knees to the floor and waddling over to where Layla sat. He stared hard at it and was silent, but then he sort of chuckled. It wasn't an uncomfortable chuckle, but it certainly sounded confused. He looked up at her and smiled awkwardly , trying to hide his enthusiasm. "First: Stevie, don't bite." He ordered, lifting the dog so she could give the creature a good sniff. She did, but it was followed by a sudden jerk backwards and a hound's howl. Cory almost slapped his hand onto the dog's snout and shushed her, hurrying her back into her carrier and ripping the blanket off the bed to cover it. "Second, sorry about that! She, uh... We'll frankly she has no manners." He said, turning back with a somewhat sheepish smile as he sat square down on the carrier. He was light enough that he wouldn't break it, thankfully. "Thirdly, what is he and where can I get one?!" He asked, a sudden burst of excitement escaping. "How does he work? Is he mechanical? Organic?" He asked quickly, only looking up briefly once in a while through his excitement to meet her eyes, his focus entirely being caught by the little creature.

"Comedian! Hurry up! I'm already at the cabin!" He called out out Kieran as he entered the room The shaven head boy looked stunned as he entered the room---his defiant frown stood didn't leave much to good thoughts, but his widened eyes may have vouched for at least some normalcy. And on his shoulder hung a woman, it was as if a hunter just took a kill... The reason he resisted the 'bridal' style carry was because he found it awkward. And somewhere inside him he felt that it would a form of cheating. Well it would be cheating since Bryn and Josiah never called eachother lovers. So it wouldn't be cheating...
'It would feel like cheating. But we're not together..But I don't want to cheat. I want to drink.' He thought. He had no resolve for such thoughts. He needed to find something to do. However once he walked into the room he noticed the two others before him.
It was silent for a moment as he looked at he undead creature in the room. Silence. 'You know what..I don't care anymore! I just got slapped by the goddamn Headmistress. I can't deal with this.' He fought against saying anything. He succeeded, but he had to find a distraction
"Don't worry I didn't do anything to this one" Josiah's words were not so confident in the way that he approached them. He didn't seem like the most clean cut guy--however to lighten the mood he patted Lightning on the rear end.'I'm cheating....'He thought as he realized his folly. He kept a straight face as he tried not to confront the other two. He didn't want anymore drama.
Josiah slowly set down the pink-haired magic aura user on the bed. He hung over her, for a moment--sort of taking in the moment. 'She doesn't smell to half-bad...'He let the thought settle for the moment. While the thought of infidelity and the meaning of relatonships set into Josiah's mind once more, he stayed silent over Lightning....
He slowly got away from her..only to remember that there was an undead being in the room. He didn't know what it was. He knew it was normal. He didn't even know if it was a student or not!
Nope.
"I'm done..." He said flabbergasted at the situation. IT WAS ONLY GETTING WORSE ON THIS TRAIN!!
'I want off..'

╔══════════════════════════╗ "Alright, you do not need to yell," Kieran sighed as she entered straight behind Josiah from the hallway. Her nose had been stuck in her diary, reading over multiple obviously hastily scribbled writing, and she had not realized how much distance the tall boy had trekked until she heard his voice inside the cabin... 10 paces away.
Rounding the corner, closing the door, and finally looking up, Kieran's eyes took in the scene before her. For one, there was a beautiful fair girl sitting on a bed with... something between her fingers while a cute looking boy sat on what was obviously a carrier for an animal. Kieran's green orbs widened in slight horror as she realized whatever was in the girl's features was obviously alive and moving. Her fascination quickly took hold, forgetting for a moment that her previously met teammate had not made it to the cabin yet, and she walked into the room further than the boy who had placed the pink haired girl down on a close bunk.
"What is that creature," she breathed, her Lithuanian accent becoming more apparent as she allowed the years of assimilated training to slip from her grasp like sand. It was slightly humanoid, yet it was not. It had eyes, but did it comprehend? It was exciting! And...
"Oh," she whispered, going over to the empty ground bed and slipping down onto her knees after tilting her sword by the hilt so it would not grind into the ground. She ignored the boy's smacking of the girl's butt, and frowned as she quickly pulled out her own carrier. "Don't give me that look, I did not know if it was acceptable for you to roam with me," she cooed softly to her main coon that yowled unhappily towards her. Kieran could tell the air was permeated with the creatures scent as her cat's fur puffed out and she was obviously on edge.
Sitting the carrier back onto the bed, she moved to the pink haired girl and spoke to the other two, "Our teammate froze her hand to the point of burning. She should be placed by the window," she said to the boy. If he did not take her, it would be easy for Kieran herself to lift the woman. Looking back toward her teammates once more she smiled and asked, "Would you like to hear a joke? I have been called quite the comedian."

╔══════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════╗ The embarrassment was overwhelming, regardless of the fact that to be carried was asked for. To make matters worse, Lightning was slung over a shoulder like a prize hunt; even worse it was Josiah's shoulder. Generally, such interactions with others would not bother her, but Lightning so far felt like Josiah was someone to form connections with. Although she had been wrong in the past. As her body felt the comfort of the bed, she finally began to relax. The window wasn't directly by the bed she had been placed in, but she could still feel the sunrays faint energy and her regular functions functions returned to her. It was a most relieving and empowering feeling. Even though it was highly improbable that she would have remained in that state permanently, the looming thought that it could happen had been hanging over her for a while. She was about to move and thank the two who had helped her return to her normal state, that was until she noticed Josiah over her. Her eyes had begun to regain its sight, the vision focusing on the figure that was hanging over her. She was unaware of what was going on, so she didn't move and just stared at him. It was strange; the uncomfortable tension and anger that would usually build up in Lightning during similar situations did not appear. Instead, a light blush spread across her complexion. A wave of undesired relief washed over her as Josiah backed away. Whatever was happening with him she didn't understand. However, she understood that he was definitely experiencing conflicting emotions. With a sigh, Lightning tilted her head and let her aqua eyes gaze upon him again."You do realise I was aware of your actions just then, Hm?"Lightning questioned Josiah gently. Well, it wasn't so much questioning as it was making him aware so that there were no nasty surprises later on. Suddenly, she heard the rapidly familiar words of a joke. A small smile began to grow across her lips, as she realised that Kieran's joking presence was definitely going to become a recurring theme. Josiah looked towards Kieran as she reminded him of the order that the Headmistress gave them, opening the window a crack a gale of brisk, cold, wind rushed through the interior of the cabin. Josiah inhaled the refresh cool air--the smell of the outside world felt nice, more so as it slowly caressed his skin.
He looked to Lightning for a moment, his brief child-like smile that was brought on the coldness of the wind stopped as the question from her was raised to him. "I charge extra for princess carry Light."He smirked, his eyes watched her as she smirked. "You'll do fine on this team Light" He commented as he watched the undead beast still exist.
He was unnerved by it, sure the boy had journeyed to crypts and ghoulish temples that were abandon by civilizations long gone--but to seeing the dead rise unnerved him
He looked at the being with a hint of fear, the he looked towards it's master for a moment.'Down the rabbit hole...'It was a feeling of fear that was akin to watching a monster movie--not really threatening, but it was engaging enough that he visibly showed to be disgruntled by the...being.
Josiah smirked as Kieran was off to tell another joke. He decided to take his leave. As he left he patted the head of Kieran, leaving with a smirk.

Throughout all the commotion the little ghoul sat quietly looking from one newcomer to the next. His little green orbs peered curiously at every man and woman, and when things had quieted for a second he decided to greet them.
"Grrawwr!" He exclaimed. His little body bouncing with his growl like the last time. Layla's face was torn between a giggle and a look of confusion from all the things going on at once. At least Charles seemed okay with them all. She decided that it would be best to greet her new teammates. Introductions were an important start to friendly relationships.
"Ahem, Hello everyone." There was a slight strain in her voice. Her anxiety creeping in because of too many strangers, but she would push through her fear and make sure they didn't all remain strangers. That should make it better. She hoped. "My name is Layla Duskhill, it's a pleasure to finally meet the rest of team Taurus. This here is Charles, and he already said hello." The little ghoul bobs his whole body in a short nod and Layla strokes his humpback to ease her discomfort. "In case you're wondering he's my pet. And he's a Ghoul, a kind of undead."
She turned to Cory and gave him a pleasant smile, he seemed easy to talk to and she found it relaxing that he was so excited about her little friend. "I'm afraid you can't just get one," she giggled and looked down at Charles. "Most ghouls are very... aggressive. I made Charles myself, he's organic, but I used a little medical science along with magic to get him the way he is."
She cooed to Charles and he gave what could have been the equivalent of a smile with his messed up toothy mouth. Layla's skin prickled with the presence of so many strangers, but she did her best to hide the tension in her shoulders. To be honest she was scared. Scared witless. She was stuck on a train that was going hundreds of miles away from her home with people she did not know one bit, and who could at any moment deem her a monster like so many before had. Sure there were other people with powers on this train. Sure they were all going to a place to learn and better themselves, but all Layla could think of was how alone she was. She was terrified that she might have to face the kind of hatred from these children as she did from those men she did long ago. Cory seemed nice, but everyone was different. The tally seemed to be 1/3 so far.

Cory's attention was thoroughly fixed on Charles, dark brown eyes wide with fascination as the creature seemed to move by itself. He hardly even noticed the others coming in, or that they were actually people. Sure, he shuffled out of the way, somewhat going closer to Layla, but his eyes were locked onto every move of ghoul in her lap. He vaguely waved his hands in an "alright" fashion, but even then he wasn't sure what he was agreeing with. His fingerless, gloved hands looked like they were spiders as they danced through the air around the ghoul, trying ever so hard to touch and not touch him at the same time. He was so excited, that he didn't even notice Stevie barking aggressively at the scent of a cat, not even the near freezing air that burst into his face as the window was opened. What did catch his attention, however, was the mention of a joke. His head careened around to the voice that caught his attention, seeing two girls and a man by another bed. His already dark skin darkened more with a blush, realizing his reaction was perhaps a bit overly dramatic. He kept silent, though he gave Layla a cheesy grin of embarrassment and he scratched the back of his head. He coughed awkwardly and crept back to sit on top of his pet carrier, his weight causing the small dog to stop barking as much. He listened to the latter flow of conversation, waiting until the other guy was gone before he spoke up.
"So, uh... Yeah, this is Layla, I'm Cory, that's her.. Uh, pet, and this is mine." He said, knocking on the edge of Stevie's carrier, earning a high pitched bark followed by noisy sniffing. "Her name is Stevie. She makes a lot of noise but she's harmless, I promise." He said, a toothy grin spreading across his face as he remembered the last time he brought home a cat that was stuck in the rain. As soon as the dog and the poor cat were face to face, the former fainted while the latter gave itself a bath.
"Okay Layla, you really have to show me what kind of meds you tried on him. If he's as organic as I'm hoping, I may be able to pull off making something of my own!" He said with a wink after she explained, standing as he turned to the others. He was hoping the girl with pink hair was doing better, though he wasn't sure how cold air would help a freezer burn. "I'll just assume that dude isn't on our team, for the sake of conversation," He began, then gave a friendly nod towards the seemingly injured girl, You're Light, I take it, as he said, and the Comedian here is a mystery! Shall we have a duel of wits, Miss?" He asked, his grin spreading wider as he stood and held out his hand, hoping she'd shake it and not cut it off at the wrist. Humour, he always thought, was one of his few real good points.

╔══════════════════════════╗ Kieran's eyebrow quirked when Josiah left the room hurriedly, though she let loose a wide grin when he pat her head and told her to knock them dead. She seriously didn't think a joke could not anyone dead, but she resisted the urge to call after him, knowing he must be needed somewhere else.
Turning back round she pulled out her bound book and quickly read over something she had obviously memorized. Her smile widened even further when the boy asked of some duel, though she would oblige him afterwards.
"Why does Peter Pan always fly?" she asked with a soft chuckle. She waited a moment before she blurted out, "He neverlands!" She folded her arms, her thumb pressing against the inner spine of the book as she folded it over. "I do not know what this Peter Pan is, but it must be a very funny joke to make it into my book."
She cocked her head as she placed her book onto the bed as the interesting looking girl spoke of the thing next to her. Ghouls? What in the world was that? It was not until the boy spoke that Kieran's interest was thoroughly peaked.
"Organic?" she breathed the question as she looked over to her glaring cat and opened the cage. Did that mean she had made that demon looking thing? "Excuse me," she asked, looking towards the girl, "are you an expert in the medical field?"
Turning back towards the tinkering boy, she smiled and looked back into her book before peering over the edge and asking, "What do you call it when you shoot a gun into space?"

A fierce blush had appeared on her cheeks from Cory's incredible interest in how she made Charles, and the knightly woman asking if she was a medical expert. She was also barely holding in a fit of giggles that came from the terrible joke about Peter Pan. How did she not know that story?
Carefully composing herself so that her laughter wouldn't escape, Layla smiled and replied to both Kieran and Cory. "I wouldn't call myself an expert. I've just been studying medicine and a little surgery for a long time now." She then directed her attention to solely Cory. "I wouldn't recommend trying to create your own Ghoul. They are pretty hostile unless you know how to deal with them. It would probably eat you if you did make one." Layla smirked up at him, "Though if you really wanna know... I suppose I can show you how I did it once we settle in at the school. But for now, I'd really like to know what you call it when you shoot a gun in space." Her grin lit up her pale features and a lot of her anxiety began to wash away. These people were very kind so far, and it felt like they could have lots of fun.
Layla cherished the warm feeling in her chest as she watched the two begin their duel of mirth. It was something she hadn't felt in a very long time. Maybe things would be different at Tokubetsu after all. She would grow stronger and smarter here, and be able to fit in with all these other wonderful people. It took a weight off her shoulders that she hadn't known was there, and Layla finally felt completely relaxed for the first time on their long journey. This was going to be her family now.
