University was rough. He hadn't expected the sounds and sights he had practically been assaulted with when he left the academy. His life, before, had been a quiet and peaceful one. Now, it was full of excited squeals and chatter of those finally experiencing true freedom, and the cluster of busy bodies rushing to their classes. He hadn't been prepared, and now he wasn't sure he even wanted this.
He had gone to Grendel to study art. As a child he had always been gifted with a pencil, and immediately it had been snapped up by the caretakers and promoted with sweet smiles and excited gasps whenever he drew. He hadn't necessarily wanted to go to university, but it seemed the thing you were supposed to do. When the other teenagers began talking about university it had settled in his brain; he was supposed to go and receive a degree. That was what was planned for him after academy. It just was how things were done.
Yet, now, as he found himself traveling back to the academy only a few weeks after being in Grendel, he found his stomach felt heavy. He was misplaced. University didn't sit well with him, and maybe all he needed was to just settle down and get accustomed to the new scene. Or, maybe he had made the wrong choice? He had gone through all the effort of exams and good grades only to realize that he wasn't happy. Did it matter? Did he have a choice?
This was why he had fled into a horseless carriage the second the weekend arrived. He found himself before the academy awhile later, and there he just stood, staring. What was the plan? To find his old room and hope no one had taken it? To find one of his old caretakers and curl into them like a child? What did he want? He was like a child, running back to their mother after a bad break-up. Within minutes his feet took him into the school, leaving him standing in the hallway with a confused and lost expression. This had been his home, but it wasn't anymore. Why was he here?Saint Sergio gio"]Bam! Have a very confused and conflicted Ten!

Jiji stretched themselves out, fingers clasped between one another, a groan escaping their lips before they slumped forward, even as they walked. Honestly they didn't mind the school life so much. The Academy wasn't horrible, there was plenty of people to observe and talk to. For new people, Jiji was a bit awkward, a bit too trusting, but it hadn't been a bad experience for them. Not yet, anyway. Weekends came, they partied with their friends, chit chatting, carrying on like all was well. But today they found themselves coming back from a long weekend alone and standing in front of the academy. They stared at it almost as if it was the first time they were seeing it. With their head cocked to one side, Jiji's eyes swept around to settle upon someone else. Seemed like weekends seemed to reset their brain a bit as they looked upon the lumbering building. (everything was lumbering around here, it seemed.) "Hello."

Ten hadn't been paying attention when another stepped beside him, instead focused on staring around the school and pondering why exactly he had ever left in the first place. Ah. Graduation. Everyone graduated eventually, he just.... wished he had more time. He wasn't ready! He couldn't do this. He was too awkward, he was certain he'd fail university and then disappoint the academy that raised him. His heart pounded, mind reeling and birthing new fears and anxiety. He was going to fail everyone. He already ha-
'Hello.'
His mind abruptly stopped, relief spreading at the sudden interruption. His eyes rolled to view the other, blinking back at the Nightmare.
"Hello." He offered, voice hesitant. He wasn't the best converser, and never had been. Still, it was a relief someone was able to stop his panicking state, at least for a second. His life was so full of worries and fears, maybe he just needed someone to talk to. Even a stranger would do, honestly.
Saint Sergio Is Jiji in university or academy? Their cert says academy but I want to make double sure it wasn't a certing mistake! I know I mess up here and there :<

When the other offered a 'hello' back, Jiji felt themselves relax just a bit. Okay, so this one wasn't going to just ignore them. Jiji let their hair fall further into their face and just gave a little nod. This one seemed as awkward as they did. "...Are you new?" They hadn't seen this one around. Not that it was anything to remarkable. Jiji observed, but there seemed to be new Nightmares flooding in all the time. It wouldn't surprise them if they answered 'no' though. "...I haven't seen you here before. So.." So Jiji asked instead of assumed. Most would be proud of that fact, right? Whatever, Jiji didn't know. "I'm Jiji."

Tengu shook his head at the question, the movement briefly delayed as he considered the answer. He was new to his university, but not here... not the place he was raised in. The hybrid stepped backwards a bit to better observe his surroundings, sighing softly.
"No." Ah. Right. He was supposed to actually converse, right...? Didn't the caretakers used to say he needed to offer actual sentences? He wasn't good at it, no.... but he'd try. "I recently left... I go to university. Are you.... are you new?"

"In... a way." Jiji pushed their hair out of their face a bit before looking back at the building and shrugging. "...I've been here about... one year..? Maybe less. But.." But well, Jiji didn't talk to many others and they just sort of clammed up and no one really knew they existed. They tended to blend into the shadows, which wasn't easy to do when most of the demons were dark in color. Either way, the Litch looked over to the other again and then shrugged. University. "What's it like? University?"

Ah, so this one wasn't born into the academy, or taken in young. Tengu nodded absently, briefly almost forgetting their question before his mind finally decided to stop betraying him. Conversing wasn't his thing. It wasn't that he disliked their company, no. He simply was not experienced in talking. How many people didn't notice him? How many times we he overlooked? It never bothered him, but it had hindered his ability to communicate some.
"Troublesome." He admitted. No, the word he had wanted to use was terrifying. He knew nothing about Grendel. The only saving grace was his brother, who taught there. That was it. Everything else left his heart hammering violently, causing him to almost suffocate under the weight of it all.
"Where will you go?" He suddenly asked, almost startling himself. Did this person have a plan? Maybe he could learn from them, or perhaps be reminded of how much more of a failure he was..
