A sand whale has been spotted nearing the village sand harbour!. These creatures are extremely unfriendly and have been known to swallow entire buildings. Ring the gong, fire bombs, throw ballistas, do what you can to stop the sand whale!
- The sand whale has 200/200 HP. When it hits 150 HP it will leave and swim away.
- At the start of the battle roll 1d6. This is the amount of ballista shots your character gets. Every time you use a ballista shot, you do a perfect 10 HP damage.
- The sand whale does an automatic -1 damage to you every time you attack the sand whale.
- If you run out of ballista shots, roll 1d6 again to gather more. However, each time you gather more the sand whale hits you for -5 damage!
gaia_star If you thwart the sand whale it drops a whale fin, it is considered a quest item. Add it to your quest item list

Content with the meat now sitting in her belly, Maddie was rearing up and ready to go. She could take on anything and everything!! Even a giant sand whale!! It baffled her how a whale could swim in sand, and while part of her did kinda want to see it swallow a whole building, Maddie was just itching to try out this ballista. SHE WANTED TO SHOOT STUFF.
Dragging one of the ballistas over, Maddie frowned. How did she work this thing? Struggling with the crank, Maddie winded it up as much as she could, and...
PEW! She toppled back as the spear soared through the air and connected with whale meat. There was a roar and flailing, and Maddie grinned. That was AWESOME.

Oh darn, she was out of shots. While she restocked, the sand whale seemed quite agitated at being attacked, and retaliated, throwing rocks at her.
"Ow!" She was SO going to shoot you down you dumb whale. It didn't help that the darn thing was so big, which while it did help make it an easier target, certainly didn't help when it got mad. Rocks were hard to dodge, ok? And they HURT. THIS WHALE WAS TOTALLY CHEATING. Well, TWO COULD PLAY AT THAT GAME!!
Maddie quickly ran and got two sharp shooty things this time. Ha, take that!

Having loaded another spear, Maddie winded the crank again. Ugh, why was this darn thing so hard to turn? It certainly didn't help that she was so tiny, though she would have dismissed that to be a reason, because she totally wasn't tiny. And even then, tiny was better than huge! Huge just made you a slow, lumbering target, as shown when she fired another shot.
Ha, take that, dumb whale!

She wished she had grabbed more projectiles, but those things were just so gosh darn heavy. Why didn't they have light yet still destructive weapons! Like, like, um, a bazooka! A bazooka gun would be awesome! Though it'd probably be just as heavy. ... Rocket launcher? Rifle gun? ... grenade???
Well, whatever. Maddie liked seeing the steel spear fly, and so she put up with winding up the ballista, even if it took a lot of effort and was slow. Another shot, and the whale was writhing in pain again. SURELY it was going down sometime soon.

Time to restock again. Maddie only wished there was a more efficient way, as the time it took her to get more ammo meant leaving her wide open for attacks. Large aggro animals were the WORST. Rocks raining down all around her, it took much effort (and running) to make sure she didn't get crushed.
However, with each trip, Maddie was able to carry a bit more, and she sincerely hoped this was the last trip she needed to make. These things weighed a TON. Why couldn't they make light and destructive things? Like her? She was a perfect example. They should have totally made projectiles shaped like her. Totally. She was going to let whoever was in charge of making these know the next time she had to fight these things.

Positioning the shot, Maddie aimed for the whale, and let out a toothy grin as it hollered. Take that, sucker! Its flailing caused ripples in the sands, which she supposed if close enough, could have been rather devastating. As it were, tiny shockwaves were no match for her. She could take on 2, 5, no... A HUNDRED sand whales!! BRING IT ON!!
... but hopefully not she didn't want to do this forever.
