Hippogryph
Feathers Hippogryphs and Hippogryph mixes can have feathers anywhere where hair or fur grows on the other breeds, and can be used as a form of expression and as an element in rp!
A hippogryph with a full mane of feathers can be incredibly expressive with it, being able to 'cockatoo' and fluff their feathers up when excited or upset. A Sharp glare can be emphasized by a usually fluffed up mane sleeking backwards to make it look even fiercer, or can be sleeked against their body as they cower back in embarrassment, trying to look smaller. You can choose to only use some feathers in the mane that are their 'bad poker face' part of their mane, where most only ruffle a little, while others closer to the skull or along the spine might flare upright when excited or curious, and the whole thing can flare out in rage to make them look bigger.
Additionally, you can RP hippogryphs molting, which can be a humorous experience to have, especially if you choose for a hippogryph to molt like a penguin (all about at once) and rp your gryph mix or gryph descendant have fine, soft feathers instead of fur all over their body (Since anywhere where fur can be, feathers can replace it)
Those with mostly hair manes can have what few feathers they have prickle and react, and even those with fully hair manes can choose to have a few quills or a shorter bunch of feathers under the hair that haven't grown out to be seen through the hair that react, so they can hide their expressions with their hair manes but can still rp them as shifting under the mane as a form of reaction.
One can also choose to ruffle tail feathers or spread them out in fancy displays, swish around loose feathers, etc on purpose if desired. Rping them as carefully hiding their emotions by making sure they dont give it away in their feathers on top of expressions and other behaviors and voices.
Vocalizations Hippogryphs are capable of not only Speaking soquili common and making Equine noises, but are also capable of most types of bird call. The only bird call they aren't really capable of is the ability to mimic human language. A talented hippogryph might be able to, with training, mimic other noises, but they tend to be limited to the more bird like ones. However this is a wide range of noises, from shrieks, trills, slow 'water-drum' like noises, whistling, and chirping.
They often develop their own, secondary language as a group through this that is difficult for other soquili to understand, so it is possible for a hippogryph herd or hippogryphs who join said hippogryph herd to learn a language that they can speak in around others that will be coded and sound for the most part like birdsong. Bird Familiars however may be able to learn parts of this language, and if taught the meanings of the noises, while they cannot speak it, other soquili breeds may be able to roughly understand the language.
Bird Legs/Feet While the lineart doesn't support it, the way I personally RP hippogryphs (And purewalkers/Pawed mutants) is that "If it doesnt have Hooves, rp them as if Digitigrade". Its a minor thing, and it is sort of supported in SOME of the claw art such as a mutant hippogryph with back claws legs.
This allows a bit more range of movement, such as being able to easily cross ones legs infront of each other when laying down, sharpening their claws on trees, scratching gently behind their ears, and playing with things in their front claws closer to their face so they can inspect them.
Because of this, I often picture hippogryphs (and anything with non hooved toes) as standing on three legs and gesticulating with the free one, or sitting with their chest resting against something sturdy or learning against their elbows to manipulate things with both hands. They still cant stand or sit without full support for long periods of time on their back legs to mess with things, so don't confuse it for human traits, but much like how a raccoon might play with things in their front paws or a bird will grab and inspect things with their foot, a hippogryph can do the same.
They also are more prone to some human gestures like Shrugging, rubbing their nose, smoothing out their bangs/playing with hair/feathers, scratching their chin. They also will often move in a way similar to cats, dogs, and other digitigrade animals, at least where their feet end in non-unguiligrade feet. Where hooves end you got horse again.
