Griffinus was pacing restlessly in a clearing not too far from home. Not too close either. He had so many siblings, granted half of them were actually his cousins and half again didn't exactly hang around home so much, but still. Still!

When he was young he heard tale of knights and their adventures. Rescuing maidens and slaying dragons. He couldn't exactly rescue his sisters, not if he wanted the young maiden's favor, (and they'd mostly gotten tired of that game anyway). The only dragons he'd met, or rather draco'ula as he'd been gently corrected time and again, were the nicest sort of fellows a 'laya could ever want to meet and didn't deserve slaying in the least, ah but still. Still!

Griffin yearned for an Adventure. For a foe to do battle with, a damsel in distress. He would settle for a cheeky rival...

He had fashioned himself a sword of sorts, finding a rather straight branch and stripping all of the twigs and leaves, wrapping the end in a bit a cloth so that he didn't have to taste bark every time he he needed to wield it. Which wasn't often, and that was the problem. Things were too calm...

Of course it was good for it to be calm so near to home, and so he meant to set out to seek his fortune as it were... Except. If he left home, it would be unprotected, the idea of something happening should he leave chilled him to the bone. It was a dilemma, a right pickle. A real problem. So he paced.

User Image He was getting old. That was for sure. He wanted something out of life other than watching the waves. His vacation home was nothing like his youth. Saving two children... saving gods... Everything falling in to place, having a honorable necklace given to him by the goddess of light herself. His stories expanded through the to many. Collecting memories..memories... Until now, he could remember them. But after so long at just looking at the waves, his precious memories had gone. Missing. Coming and going just like the tide.

He was found now, where he usually laid. At the small hill that the over looked the rocks over the ocean. The sound of them crashing made him calm. Made him forget...made him for remember but without stimulation, his memories went dormant. He got worse over time. Especially when Kirara left...constantly to see her children. He knew why. But without anyone to talk to most of the time, he was becoming... worse... The extreme things he had done had nearly torn most of his muscles and it took everything to move sometimes. But those were things he didn't say to anyone.

He simply looked at the waves... hearing them splash and that was it. This was his life now... His tail flicked.. His fur had dulled in recent years. The sound. The echo. It soothed him.. especially when he thought that his mind was playing tricks on him. A glowing figure with the largest bright golden wings.. Now, he was convinced it was just another figment of his imagination. Those worries, just simply went away with the ocean..... Even if someone did come up behind him, or anywhere near his home.. He wouldn't have even noticed. Not even the replay of someone throwing him off the cliffs and in to the ocean depths. Now, he couldn't protect himself that was for sure.

"It's nice you know,.... The ocean.. The sound.."

Talking to himself. A repeated offense after so long. To console his mind.

Pacing was getting him literally nowhere. Griffinus decided he needed to actually go somewhere, get some fresh perspective. There was a cliff over looking the ocean that wasn't too far away, so he stopped wearing tracks into the grass and went. Sword at his side and cape flapping in the breeze.

Upon arrival he didn't notice Tsu there at first, just taking a long quiet moment to gaze out over the ocean, excitement building in his chest at the idea of what could possibly be out there. After a time spent in quiet there came a voice and Griffin turned to find the dear old family friend, relaxing in the sun.

He turned and trotted over, chest puffed out and clearing his throat, internally hoping his voice wouldn't squeak as it had so often while he was still growing.

"Tsukouru, my good man, I must say it is a pleasure to see you, sir, as it always is." Griff's voice was a forced sort of deep, he thought it made him sound bold and brave to talk in this way.

User Image It was when his mind became completely blank that Tsu heard the deepened voice. Unfamiliar, completely and he didn't turn around. His voice mouthed, but said nothing. He closed it. Then opened it again, slowly, taking in a breath.

"I sound a lot huskier for some reason." He said. Thinking his mind was playing tricks again. He looked down at his paws, then looked back at himself... Ears went back as though he was getting distressed for the moment then finally looked to his side. A face he was unfamiliar with. "Hello....who are you?" His mind was slipping. "Hmm.. How do you know my name? When did you get here? How did you know I was here- Are you real?" His accusations rose with confusion, then finally realizing he was getting anxious. He closed his eyes, took in a breath and smiled.

"I'm sorry- I haven't seen anyone in some time. Welcome, Whoever you are." It was a tired smile, but a genuine one. "Do you wish for this hill, it clears things, I can leave if so." It was his home, but he didn't mind.. The easy going, now little anxious old male was forged that way. Kindred, even to strangers.

Griffinus blinked at Tsukouru, granted it had been a while since the young ulaya had seen the old story teller but Griffin didn't think it had been so long. Perhaps it was because Griffin hadn't made a name for himself yet, that he was so easily forgotten. Yes, that must be it.

"No, please sir. Don't leave on my account. If I've disturbed you in some way, I can go... Ah, but first let me answer your questions. Yes, sir, I am very much real, a real knight in training, sir! I did not know you were here before I arrived, rather I was just, ah, making the rounds, sir. Patrolling for dangers, I'm happy to report that I haven't found a single one." Griffin paused for a moment and puffed out his chest, smiling widely. If there were no dangers, at least that must have meant that he was doing a good job.

"I know your name because you were introduced to me, sir. I and my siblings, as well as my cousins. We are quite the little clan. Finally, I am, Griffinus, sir, at your service." He bowed low with a flourish of his cape, caught in a breeze off the ocean. He loved when it did that.

User Image "Ah..." He was introducing himself, but he was here for an important thought. He needed to remember something important and it was deadfully so. Where had he left Sobie, Oh yes... He remembered now. He said the only way he could have a clear mind, and start a search for something.. was to first clear his head. Maybe staying here too long had made him forget what he was clearing his head about.

"Your RIGHT!" He exclaimed. Eureka-!

"I should be on my way to go find the princess!" Getting up one all three paws and one peg leg- he looked out to the ocean. The first place they saw her, was in the at the festival... when they were introducing them to the new kingdom. He had met them when they were reawakened.

"Ah- Yes-Yes- I Griffus! My have you grown young kit." From his Eureka moment, he looked at the ulaya up and down. He had once taught Sorii's children how to hunt- and told them stories about the wars he had been too. Even his adventures, but like Sobie had worried so, maybe for good reason. "Yes- My boy! It must be destiny you have come here- not all is well I am afraid. I wish you would have come sooner- We have a missing princess report! And my boy- today is just the day for a GRAND ADVENTURE!"

Waving his peg leg. "I must find this princess soon. Sobie is making dinner that I wish not to miss!" This- very serious matter- was near clouded by Tsu's hole escaping memories, making a very serious matter seem light hearted, even unbelievable.

"So Griffin! Do you wish to embark on this adventure- I am sure that this is your day!" His ears went back and a smile plastered, although it was too genuine how could you believe this old ulaya, he seemed completely off his rocker- finding a princess before dinner? Could anyone do that!?

Griffinus was still secretly reveling in the moment, head bowed hiding the smile on his maw from the bold picture of a fledgling knight he must make. It was very exciting, just the thought of the adventures he would have, one day...

So caught up in his own preening, with these shining ideas in his head, that Griffin was startled at Tsu's exclamation. His head shot up, eyes widening as Tsu explained and then... Griff's toes curled into the grass, clinging to the earth as if he would be blown away had he not gripped so tightly. "A missing princess?"

'Destiny.' His eyes went wide and his mouth nearly dropped open. 'Adventure.'

"YES, SIR," his voice squeaked with his enthusiasm, he cleared his throat and tried again, "That is, yes, sir, Tsukouru, sir. I would be deeply honored to join you on this very important quest!" Griff didn't pause to think that it was silly to find a missing princess before dinner, if it must be accomplished in a few short hours, well, then it must be very important that the missing princess in question be found sooner rather than later.

'Wow, a real and actual princess,' he thought to himself, the idea still sinking in before he straightened up. "Tsukouru, sir, tell me everything you know, this is a very urgent matter! We should embark as soon as possible!"

User Image "Yes a MISSING princess!" Standing with the wind hitting him in just the right way to look like a real explorer.

"Simply wonderful! It is quite important, but I assure you that missing Sobie's cooking is also a no- can do." Giving a nod.

Yes, his mind was quite mixed up in puzzle pieces that didn't quite fit well together at all. All that mattered was that he was functional. There were adventures he could still embark on, and that was fine with him. In turn, it was not so good for Sobie's worrying, something Tsukurou began to be aware of in some slight levels. There was a missing princess, who could say no?

"Well um." He looked up, and around. Huffing a bit and taking one step another way, then another step to the opposite.

"Princess Elda, of the light has gone missing." Giving a slight nod.
"We must return her to the kingdom of ...of..."

Sitting back down again then casting his gaze the same way.

"We'll figure it out on the way! Onward!" He went off in one direction, with or without Griffinus following him. "We're burning day light! Get those young bones moving."

He walked with a new limp, the wood he had on his missing foot was gutting in to him, but this knowledge really didn't make it back to the ulaya in question. His mind was trying to be focused on where they might be going, maybe find out where the last place to look was, from what he understood that information was given to him, but he just needed to jog it out of his mind. Walking would do the trick.

The oversight of the beach gave him clarity, at least from the minor troubles, but it unsettled others and caused his worries from deep within to bubble below the surface smile he wore today. The direction he was heading off on, was do north. His inner compass confirmed it, but did the stars in the sky?

"Why, of course it is just as important, sir." Griffin smiled, Sobie was a fussy sort but was a kind old gentleman and most importantly, was important to Tsu. Seeing the care and deep friendship between the two life-long companions made Griffin happy in way he was entirely unsure how to express. Whenever he thought about such a person in his own life there was a stirring within his chest that left him breathless.

Griff stood boldly at Tsukurou's side, paws dancing this way and that to match Tsu's direction at any given moment.
User Image
Princess Elda... the Light Kingdom, her people must be so worried. Griffin was only a step behind Tsu, leaping to catch up with the old adventure's pace.

"Yessir!" Despite how important this mission clearly was, Griff was very careful not to outpace Tsu and made no mention of his limp. He also didn't stop to tell anyone that he was going off, as they'd be back before supper. He was grown, or nearly so, no one would be overly worried should he be a little late.

Meanwhile, on a different part of the island, Sobie was seeking out Tsu. It wasn't an urgent matter, not yet, but he did have cause for concern even if he had seen Tsu just this morning...

User Image There was a lot of walking. No just for a few moments, strides or breaths but hours and hours of non stop walking. It was filled with Tsu's ramblings and it was quite some time in before the scenery began to look the same.

"I had seen them in a pyramid. There were two. If my memory serves me correct. Although that two- there is only one to be found. The other I am unsure if she is missing or secured elsewhere. Likewise my boy, you should definitely take notes. They are of golden beige hair, long long hair that is. They speak with soft clicks and sometimes even our language. Soft spoken, the both of them. I remember something about bark... no meow... or ...murrr... chahchahchaha~"

If only the hours had been quiet..

"YES! We are looking for chachacha." He was certain of this now. "Her dress is flowy, and she is a sight to see. Genuinely the most beautiful of the lot I am sure." Giving heavy nods as he spoke and reassured himself. They hadn't eaten and the day began to whine to afternoon. Dinner seemed to escape his mind.

"Pyramids in the sand- where would they be now." They had gone in circles twice now, and by that alone, made Tsu slow down.
"Hnnmmm... I felt like I've seen this before- Gurrif." Ears panning back.. "No... we went where their was snow.. She had to hide.. something happened... Who do we trust..." He sounded worried, and stopped as pieces of his memory came back. The war in some parts. Chi in some parts. The Goddess of light in other parts.

By this point his peg leg began to shake violently......and blood had been trickling down it for quite some time til finally his leg gave out and his body guided to the ground abruptly. Shaking his head.. not knowing exactly what happened, he was beyond himself at the moment in a daze.

No matter how much they walked, Griffinus didn't run out of stamina, he was very young and full to the brim with excess pluck, wide eyes for scanning their path and ever shifting ears to listen to the old adventurer's endless tales. Surely, within the riddle of his words there was important information about the princess they were seeking, he just needed to puzzle it all out. Understanding puzzles was an important skill for an adventurer to master.

He'd heard all about Princess Elda, sometimes called Chii, many times before, but answered with bright chirps, "Yes, sir." "Indeed, sir." "I will burn her image into my memory, sir." Never once raising doubt as to why Tsukurou repeated himself often and spoke in confusing ways.

Upon the second circuit of their path, Griffin looked around, but still did not question Tsu's methods. Perhaps it was important to throw off their trail in this manner, in case they themselves were being followed. Surely, that was it!

... but for the blood. He thought for sure he ought to question the blood. Not question Tsu, but maybe express some concern for him. They had been walking for a while and if Tsu needed a break, why, there was nothing wrong with that. The male was well on in years, though undoubtedly had many more in him.

"Tsukurou, sir!" Griff chirped and leaped to Tsu's side as his leg gave out and he sank to the ground. "Ah, that is, yes! Please take a rest..." Griffin didn't understand why the leg was bleeding, and he couldn't figure out the secret meaning behind it either, this was perhaps a test, his survival skills! Something entirely new to him, but he didn't have any medical training at all beyond what little first aid had been taught to him by his Aunt and Uncle, simple cures for tummy aches and fevers... what herbs to rub on minor scrapes to encourage quick healing. Once he had been instructed on how to set a bone, but he'd never had to use the information in a practical setting. The cloth and stick he used as a makeshift sword would come in handy should he need a splint...

"Tsu, sir... your leg. It, ah, seems to be bleeding rather a lot. Perhaps it would be wise, if... ah, we made a small detour, to see a healer, that is. You've oft told me of the Light kingdom's proficient healing magics, and we could gather more information on Princess Elda there, as well as supplies. I can hunt, sir-" Griff puffed his chest out proudly at this statement "-provide for our needs in that way, but we wouldn't be amiss to carry some medicines, a pair of water gourds... at the very least."

User Image When he felt the other help with his body, they were to the ground in an instant and he, was more exhausted than he originally thought. He grumbled a bit, like a kit would when one babyed them. Then after he took a huge breath, all the pain rushed and was certainly acknowledged. A yelp came out of him, unwillingly so as he looked to the younger male. Whose words held more true than he could ever imagine.

"Ye-yes! We-we must get to- to the kingdom!~"
He whimpered and felt like his whole leg will fall off any moment. When he looked down, he saw that he had near rubbed raw the surrounding his nub. Which he then got to examine the wood further and saw how withered his peg leg was. Every year or so, he would have to recarve it, when was the last time he did that?

"I'm sorry young lad... I don't think I can make it to the kingdom. There are mountains.. ( -makes a sound of pain- ) At the edge of them, where the water meets- there is the Castle. It's kingdom, vast, beautiful whites that shine upon thee. You may never forget it. Solely in your dreams may you rid it of memories. Even then, naught. Go on, I shall catch up if still willing~ bring forth supplies, I shall stay here and rest~!" He seemed to be in a mood between painful, worried and grateful.

"You must survive! Get help! (Yawn) And all of the above~ haste(yawn)... haste.."
His speech slurring and slurring until finally he stopped moving and curled up. A nap would suffice, without a moments warning. Tsu perhaps did seem, out of sorts.

"Ah. Y-yes. Yes, sir..." Griffin answered more reluctantly now. Rather than trekking to the far away kingdom, he was sure at this point, Tsu needed to get home.

"Please, just rest, sir. Don't- ah, that is, I will return for you, surely, so don't trouble yourself with trying to come and find me..." When Tsu settled down and swiftly fell asleep, Griffin turned tail, and ran home. Not to his own home, but rather to fetch Sobie.User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.

His heart was hammering in his chest the whole way back. As important as it was to find her highness as soon as possible. It was also important that Tsu not be left on his own. He needed immediate care, and Griff didn't want him to wake up and wander off before he came back. The problem was, Griffin didn't know where this kingdom was. He could travel alone, seek it out, but his conscious wouldn't allow him to abandon Tsu when he knew where and how to get him help.

It was late afternoon by the time Griffin found Sobie and explained the day's aborted adventure as well as his mate's condition. They hurried back to where Griffin had left Tsu together, after a quick stop for supplies, both males breathless from the run.

"Tsukouru! Tsu, my dear, where are you? Griffin, are you absolutely sure, this is where you left him?"

Yes, sir, Sobie... It was right around here.
PostPosted: Sun Mar 05, 2017 10:16 am

User Image An hour after Griff left, Tsu awoke, with his wooden peg leg near shambles and his nub cut up to the bone. The pain of it made him grown with displeasure at that point he began biting at his leg. Self mutiliation was far from what he was trying to do, instead- he wanted to pull off his leg. After nawing on it for a few and making a mess of blood he decided the stream would be the best way to go.

As soon as he got in the water, pain surged in a way he couldn't imagine. With all his might he bit hard on his lip went in to the water and pulled with every fiber of his being to pull the peg leg off and finally, he did. Relief, finally and when he came up for air, the stream was shorty stained in red, but after a few moments it dissipated. He grown and after a few of just sitting in the water, his head perked up with what he heard was the voice but he couldn't identify it. Another twitch and a loud sound made him lower his head in pain, shaking the water from his ear and the voice was gone. He hummed some and leaned back in to the water.

Missing how the water felt against his fur, against his limbs, as if the whole world had stopped for just this moment.. relief of pain til he felt something suction. Tightening and releasing for seconds between, he lifted up his limb and a fin waved about in the air.

Even in pain, he laughed aloud... The more the fish kept wagging the more he began to remember. Dinner. Looking around... "Sobie...?" How did he get here again... "Sobie~" He called again.. Slowly getting up with a limp to his step as he dragged himself out of the stream and stood there in all 3 paws, his numb exposed completely, which was a rare sight indeed.. "Sobie!" He called.. How couldn't remember how he got here and where he was heading. The trees looked the same as he turned about multiple times.

Wait... "Get some wood for the fire... to cook because Sobie is making dinner..." He closed his eyes. When did Sobie say this, this.. this.. morning. He closed his eyes and tried to figure out the day.

Get firewood, pick some berries, come......home.
Light Kingdom ... invitation... someone is lost?.... No.. Someone is coming...

The conversations he had, and the invitations read, he tried to unscramble his brain.

"Yes, Get firewood, pick berries, come home, get ready.
Bring it To the light kingdom. When is tomorrow? Was that today? Not without Sobie!? No.. No Not without Sobie.. with Sobie. Yes. Ok. A princess.... is singing today.. no.. not princess.. A performer, a lady.. Yes, that's right we are to go to the light kingdom to hear the return of the princess..."
Taking steps backwards in his mind to unscramble...

He got side tracked with the ocean, yes, how beautiful the ocean was. Reflecting on the past... he had enough time to get the wood.. but now. He looked up and saw night coming, and fast.

He had to go back home.. Had they missed the invitation time.. the King would be upset. That's when he opened his eyes and began to try and recognize where he was. He remembered someone being with him... Griffon.

"YES! Griff! Oh that sweet boy- wow. He grew..so tall, right- oh my- I have got all mixed up.. Oh no.. I have to find him..." Worry filled his head, he got scrambled again.. Sobie must be worried, Griff must be worried..

"GRIFF!" He yelled out. "GRIFF!" Limping his way through the forest in panic..
