The village is running low on food and it is up to you to find some steaks and cook them for the village. You are granted exactly one portable spit though you will have to do the hunting yourself.
Right in the outskirts of the village are EVIL HAND TURKEYS. They have 10 HP each, which your character will have to defeat in normal battle combat style (attack with the dice mechanics of your current character until it hits 0 HP). They do -2 auto damage to you every time you hit it. When you have defeated a turkey, you can carve from it, a turkey steak.
Roll 1d10 to cook your steak. If you roll 1-5 your steak is raw, if you roll 6-8 your steak is perfect, if you roll 9-10 you steak is unedible. Only RAW and perfect steaks are allowed.
gaia_star If you acquire a perfect steak, it is considered a quest item. Add it to your quest item list.

Sure enough, Brenley was scooped up by another villager for standing around too long. This time, however, he wasn't made to climb a mountain or shoot giant arrows at a whale, he was simply asked to cook. He'd cooked things before. He'd even killed things with the intention of eating them before... once... in a very controlled environment. This was a mess by comparison, these roaming, squawking birds promising to be trouble before he had even tried to catch one.
The boil watched them run around with a frown, debating whether or not he should just attack outright or try to corner them or throw a bomb or simply walk away. There was a lot of sighing involved, though he didn't realize he was doing it.

To say that Ignatius had any idea how to cook was probably being too polite. At best, he could operate a microwave.
As an elemental, he didn't necessarily need to eat a lot (though he was not exactly incorporeal like his ghost fellows). A lot of what he did eat, though, were things he could grab-and-go with from either his dorm room or the cafeteria, or other cafes and restaurants in the area. So to be asked to cook a steak out of some of these angry turkeys?
That would probably be laughable, but never let it be said that Ignatius was not up to a challenge! He strolled up besides Brenley, smacking his friend on the shoulder mid-sigh. "They want you to make some turkey too, do they?"

Turkey was pretty good, and he felt his stomach growl faintly as it was mentioned nearby. He glanced over at the voices talking about it. At the same time, some of the villagers must have had the same idea because he found himself being "asked" to go get some. Well... he was hardly going to say no... Since the other two were nearby, he walked up to them and cleared his throat politely.
"So, I hear there's a turkey expedition?" Actually cooking didn't bother him so much; his parents made sure all of their children could at least cook a little bit. He had never cooked a turkey before, however, so that part was... going to be a bit more challenging.
...It'd be fine...

Brenley, shocked into sighless silence by Ignatius's slap, smiled a closed-lip smile when he realized who had done the slapping. "Yes, it seems to be turkey time, though I have no idea why they can't do this themselves. I mean, climbing a mountain is one thing..." He shrugged.
When the other reaper approached, he nodded in greeting. The boil seemed very familiar somehow, though Bren couldn't come up with his name. It could really only mean one thing. They had met in one of those dreams where no one questioned such things.
"Brenley," he said, holding out a hand. Take that, dreams. "Should we get started?" It was strange to just announce that it was time for killing, but what other way to attack was there? "Unless you wanted to talk strategy..." They were only turkeys. 'Run up and stab them' would probably be enough.

Shrugging in turn, Ignatius replied, "Pretty sure they're taking advantage of us, honestly. They don't seem like they're helping any more than earlier..."
Hearing another voice, Ignatius glanced over his shoulder before turning to look over at the other boil. He looked familiar for multiple reasons. He was pretty sure he had seen that face before. Did he know him? ... Well, did it matter? He did now.
"Ignatius," offered the elemental, with a playful salute instead of offering his hand, before waving his arms back and forth and bouncing anxiously like he couldn't stay still even if he tried. "My strategy is shock it until it stops moving." To display this, Ignatius held up his hands and let a spark transfer from one to the other. "I think that's all that needs to be said."
He pursed his lips. "And you boils got swords or whatever so I think your method is obvious. Turkey time?"

"Arrakis," he replied to the introduction, giving a small, somewhat awkward half-wave to Ignatius after somewhat awkwardly shaking Brenley's hand. He instinctively liked both of them, he realised, and figured that was good if they were going to be completing this task together. When his sword was mentioned, he glanced down at it. "It'll do in a pinch, at least." Ignatius' energy levels didn't go unnoticed, but he didn't pay them much mind after taking note of their sheer magnitude with more than a touch of amusement. One of his brothers had a lover who was also very energetic, so it wasn't altogether strange to him aside from the obvious differences. In a way, the familiarity on more than one front was refreshing and put him a bit at ease.
"Sounds like a plan--after you?" He couldn't help the playful half-bow and sweeping arm motion inviting them to precede him. Nothing like having a bit of something to do, after all!

Thoroughly tickled by their sound strategies, Brenley stepped forward and summoned the larger of his ornate blades, slashing at the closest turkey as his weapon appeared. It didn't have time to be angry, dropping with a thud as he struck it. It even conveniently lost half of its feathers.
He really hadn't meant to look like such a badass.
Bren shuffled between the turkey and the other boils, hoping they had moved on to kill birds of their own and weren't actually looking his way.
Unfortunately for Brenley, Ignatius was most definitely watching him. Perhaps that was why his attempt at shocking the hand turkey he had been assigned went so terribly awry -- the turkey seemed more interested in evilly squawk-laughing at him than anything else, even as it lost a couple feathers.
"Jackdamn Bren, you are a badass!" Ignatius whistled at him, even as he failed to be much of a badass himself. Ignatius wouldn't acknowledge that.
Arrakis spared a moment to watch Ignatius and Brenley go for their turkeys before turning to go after one of his own. Brenley's success was definitely impressive, and Arrakis cheered briefly for him. The both of them were doing better than him, it seemed, as he took a swing at a turkey and missed by a wide margin. He swore it was laughing at him as it snapped at him and started to run, and he immediately gave chase.
So they had seen. Bren looked at his feet and shook his head, trying to hide a smile at their cheering and clapping. "It was probably sick anyway," he concluded, heading over to where the cloaked figures waited for their steaks with an amused snort.
As it turned out, it actually wasn't that difficult to pluck a turkey when all you wanted from it was a single hunk of meat. Brenley laid the bird out, and in the absence of a better knife, used one of his katar to take off most of its other half, the side he hadn't decimated during his attack. There. Plucked. And he was only slightly spattered with blood as a result.
Now to make it into a steak, something he also had no idea how to do. But it couldn't be that hard, right? He had eaten steak. He roughly knew what one looked like before he started shoveling it into his mouth. Did turkeys even have steakable bits?
In the end he decided a rectangular slab would have to do. He hacked at the meat with his blade again, eventually ending up with something that could be termed a suitable steak. Though they had each been given their own spit, there was only one fire pit, so he waited until it was free to set up. Then it was time to cook. Badly. Brenley ended up watching his companions fight, the cloaked figures whisper amongst themselves, anything but his turkey. One minute it was juicy and sizzling, and the next it was charcoal.

i'm going to start rolling again in my next turn because why not
Ignatius was apparently very bad at being a lightning elemental.
While Brenley took his awesome kill and completely destroyed the resulting steak, Ignatius was attempting to even get to that stage. Concentrating on his hands, Ignatius felt the electricity charge up within them. There. That would get it!
Zap.
Or not, evidently, considering that evil bird was still flapping and squawking and most likely laughing at him. How dare it. He would destroy it. No one put Ignatius in the corner!
(Especially not hand turkeys.)

Arrakis missed. Again. Again! Stopping himself from calling the turkey something particularly unkind, he jumped back as he found another scratch across his hands for his trouble. It was a turkey! A turkey! He was actually a bit embarrassed that he was having so much trouble with it. Brenley had already finished preparing his and at least Ignatius had gotten some hits in! Meanwhile, Arrakis' turkey was doing more damage to him than he was doing to it, which was... really actually kind of sad.
Judging by all the dirty looks he was receiving for not providing the locals with meat, Bren decided to try again, which meant more crazy turkey killing, considering he had done nothing to save anything extra from the first.
This time he crept up behind his chosen bird and poked at it, earning him an angry gobble and over the shoulder glare.

It seemed Brenley was back to work on another turkey, and Arrakis was still chasing his. Well, maybe he could be done with his first! Confidently, he sent a zap of lightning at the turkey again.
It slowed, but it was still up, somehow...
There was one thing Ignatius had to ask himself: why was this turkey do resistant to electricity? How well it was staying up against his continued assault was almost enough to make him doubt his clearly badass abilities.
Almost.
At least he wasn't chasing his in circles and flailing desperately like the obvious newbie was. Poor Arrakis. He just wasn't badass yet...
