The past few days proved exceptionally draining and Scholomance found it intolerably difficult to behave as he normally did. Whimsy and basic impulse felt no more solid than shadows. Reclaiming his senses sounded like a prize found at the bottom of a bottle.

Suddenly he didn't want to be a knight anymore. Suddenly he wanted to donate this power to the nearest gullible fop that he could find, and be rid of the burden he never asked for. As he crouched at the base of a looming building, his sightline to the sky obscured by the awning overheard, his shoulders slumped with the tired dejection he suffered when faced with an impossible problem. And as much as he wished for some quiet solace from the eternally watchful eyes above, even physical obscurity from the skies offered no peace. Even with clouds obscuring the starry sky, he felt the troublesome connection that haunted him since his first visit.

He imagined that most stalked women felt this way when their too-interested boyfriends tracked their daily activities through GPS triangulation.

But his huddled weariness wouldn't dissipate. Scraping together what rage he could summon, Scholomance stepped out from beyond the awning and brandished both middle fingers toward the sky in emphatic rebellion. "This is what I think of your ******** judgments, you shitty-a** cesspit! Everything up there is dead, anyway!" He huffed, dropped his hands to his sides, and felt no better beneath the constant burden. Tired eyes rolled at the irony of it. Nothing came of his belligerence here - he found no relief and no sudden direction with which to dispel his constant awareness of the wonder.

"Yeah, well, enjoy the ******** view while you can," he muttered to himself. Hands fumbled with buttons, and soon Scholomance dropped trow to moon the eternally watching wonder that detested him so.

sorry mont blonc this is not the best day to meet schol

Yelling plus an order aura had gotten Mont Blonc's attention - because usually when those two things went together, there was some sort of trouble involved. Even if he didn't sense any chaos auras to match, that didn't mean that was the only sort of trouble that someone like them could get into.

So the page ran, jumped, and hopped his way over as fast as his limber legs could carry him - which, he was finally discovering after so long, was faster than he realized - and abruptly he found himself face to face with another page at the base of a building. "Are you -- ?"

Well, sort of face to face. - and by sort of, that really meant not really at all oh god.

Mont Blonc made a sort of strangled little noise without realizing it, then clapped his hand over his throat and averted his eyes and absolutely hated not for the first time how absolutely red he turned over anything and everything. "Uh. - so - this is p-probably a bad time, I - sorry, " he stammered out, backing up a step or two.

The delightful stammering from someone so pure as the latest arrival to Scholomance's private time caused the page to glance between his legs for confirmation of attendance. "Hmm?" He grunted while he scanned for the presence. Ah, there he was - a black-haired boy with red pants, and tall laced boots. He couldn't tell height from this inverted perspective, but after straightening up and pulling up drawers to fit modesty laws, Scholomance half-turned to get a better look at the man.

Black hair, yellowed eyes, good facial structure of a young kind. The jacket he wore looked terrible aesthetic, and the midriff exposure drew the eye keenly between darkly washed clothing. Chains abound both held shut the jacket and wrapped about his pants, bearing symbols that Scholomance found quite familiar. Saturn, it looked like. It brought to mind memory of both Aegir and Methone explaining their understanding of knights, alongside mention of a budding team that centered on Saturn and its moons. Was this boy a candidate, then? He looked as red as his pants at this rate, which brought a smile to the pale page's lips.

"Don't tell me you've never seen someone's pasty white a** before. You look like your face is about ready to melt off your skull." Scholomance approached at a leisurely clip and absent any sign of shame. He paused only just past conversational distance, and in the nebulous distance that just invaded personal space but hadn't quite issued cause for retreat. The boy's blush looked lurid and entertainingly cute. Had he looked any older, Scholomance would've gladly given him a perfect reason to blush - but past experiences taught him to err on the side of caution, so the older page straightened from his leaning inspection and offered a hand instead. "Scholomance."

"I take it you've never stumbled into a knight having a private quarrel with his wonder before?"

Mont Blonc tried to quell the surge of relief he felt when the other page went ahead and slipped his pants back on - although really, it was just as mortifying that he was so flustered by someone's a** in the first place. He couldn't really help it though. His 'moon' viewings were very few and far between, and mostly limited to his ex and some very awkward changing times spent in locker rooms more or less huddled in a corner. It was sad and pathetic and somehow didn't completely turn his girlfriend off, which was something he still didn't understand at all.

He was more acutely aware of the other page's eyes than he should have been, especially because he was almost positive the other man's gaze had fallen on his exposed midsection and he wished not for the first time that he could just have a proper shirt. But even so, Mont Blonc couldn't help but notice one striking detail about the page now that he was seeing him from the front instead of the rear: the symbol of Saturn. Though still embarrassed, the prickle of recognition ignited a spark of interested excitement in his yellow eyes.

No matter how they met, Mont Blonc would never not be happy to see one of his own.

The second thing he noted, well, had noticed before but only now taken note of, the other man was thin and - he laughed, and even his laughter was soft. "Not many, no - sorry, " and usually he would have just up and retreated if anyone else came so close so quickly, because it was just instinct for him. But this was a Saturn page, and fellows of Saturn as a general rule didn't scare him as easily. Still, as always, his true height was lost to the curve of his shoulders and back. He was trying hard for better posture, but it was still so easy to fall into the familiar habit and make himself seem smaller than he was.

At the offered hand, though, Mont Blonc's face split into a radiant smile and he gladly took it, dipping his head politely. "Mont Blonc. It's a pleasure, Scholomance."

The question took him by surprise. "No, but, " he thought back to the mountain that was supposed to be his, of the ash and the bones and the ghosts. "I think I could probably understand why, " and his smile was more sheepish then as he gave a light shrug of his shoulders. "Although a quarrel - your Wonder must be more vocal than mine." He was trying to make a joke, please please don't tell him it would fall flat on its face.

"I'm sure it's a pleasure to look upon my a**, Mont Blonc," he shot back in a tease. The boy didn't look terribly impressive - to Scholomance, he saw one of the most depressingly passive young adults he'd laid eyes on since starting to hire their lot. Scholomance imagined that, if under his employment, Mont Blonc would be the type to shrink away after greeting a customer when receiving no outward recognition, or retreating away in a skulk when a customer responded with the slightest hint of irritation. He would be the kind that Isaiah relegated to the backroom with orders to clean off the merchandise and reorganize the back room, or perform research on topics that Isaiah hadn't yet touched upon.

And phone calls were certainly out of the question.

At least this one tried to make light of matters. Scholomance offered his own somewhat imposing smile in response to the boy's joke, regardless of how woefully uninteresting it presented. "Yes. Yes, it must be - Scholomance is quite the chatterbox. I don't suppose you feel like sharing a little about your wonder? I expect that if it's anything like mine, you'd be happy to stay away from it for the rest of your life. But if not... Well, maybe we can strike up a trade." Was that possible? He didn't see why not - perhaps they could trade weapons and names for a better run of this ridiculous second life game.

Mont Blonc looked terribly easy to bully into a deal, and Scholomance shared no special bond with fellow Saturn associates. Methone, perhaps, would receive the brunt of his kindness for the assets he sought, but the rest invited no particular softness from the man. If Mont Blonc proved as easy to boss around as he assessed, then he imagined that making a wonder trade would happen inevitably.

Although, he supposed that if he were to inherit a different wonder now, he needed to take stock of the goods.

"And if you've got nothing better to do for your evening, maybe you can show me yours and I'll show you mine." However, he had very little intention of ever returning to Scholomance. Not alone, and not with someone as willowy and meek as Mont Blonc.

up to you on whether or not they go - wonder visits are generally better done in a separate rp. schol is on cooldown but he has no way of knowing that icly~

Mont Blonc didn't know which way to take Scholomance's crack about his a**; either way, he either said the man had a terrible a** or that he'd enjoyed looking at it. So he did what comments like that always did when they wedged him into a corner and said nothing at all. Instead, he smiled at him, and then did nothing more to acknowledge it. His cheeks still burned faintly, but to be fair, they almost always did.

Of course, he knew nothing of what his fellow Saturn page was thinking. All he was thinking to himself was how happy he was to meet another of his own. Maybe he could tell him about the team? - wouldn't Methone and Aegir be delighted if he brought someone else in? More than that, he'd be happy to have him. The more the merrier, right? (And with a planet like Saturn, goodness they could use some more merry in their lives.)

Sharing a bit about his wonder - Mont Blonc laughed shortly at that, and he only laughed because he didn't want the other man to see him quiver at the thought of it. "You're not mistaken. I wish we could switch and trade wonders like that, but I don't think we can, " he mused out loud, placing a hand on his chest and thinking back to the ghostly image he'd seen on Mont Blonc. The man with the white hair, and by now it'd occurred to him that it must be his past life. - probably. He really hoped so actually. Not like he relished the thought of running into a ghost of himself, but at least it wasn't a proper ghost that meant him bodily harm or possession. Probably.

"But yes, I will take you there to see it if you'd like, " and he was honestly only able to say that because Scholomance was a Saturn knight, and his throat felt tight as he made the offer. The thought of returning to Mont Blonc was very high on his list of wholly unappealing things he didn't want to do ever again - but again, this was a fellow page. They shared the same planet and the same kind of burdens that were tied to their wonders, didn't they? Maybe if they saw each other's wonders then, maybe it would bring him some kind of peace. Maybe he could try harder to face his mountain again.

"You don't think so?" Scholomance straightened up. "Have you tried? It might be as easy as giving you my ring and swapping our names. I don't know of anything else my 'knighthood' is tied to." With a thought of the familiar weightlessness and smooth surfaces, Scholomance's bone ring materialized in his palm. He offered the piece in a splay of fingers for the other page to inspect.

"But I suppose that's a plan to put off until after we've seen the goods. Blind trades have never been my fancy." Scholomance wondered what the rest of Saturn had to offer, and if any of it grew more interesting than the swamp and its lake of bones. Certainly the entire planet couldn't be mired in tragedy - the earth was a large place, and spoke of no such ubiquitousness, and with saturn being far larger, he imagined the planet stood even less of a chance toward wholesale tragedy. So what could Mont Blonc offer? More bodies, a tomb, limitless nothingness? He hadn't seen enough wonders to even surmise what the visit might entail.

That was exciting in its own right.

"Alright, show me this wonder, Igor. And quit slouching, for ******** sake." A hand curled against a bony hip while he shifted posture for a plucky delivery. "You'll end up stooped like an old man by the time you're my age." Eyes lidded in mock disapproval while he looked down on the man - and that was only possible due to the cited lack of good posture. Scholomance expected he might be an inch or two taller than the wiry page when straightened up, but no more than that. It couldn't be possible to hide too much height.

"Shall we embark on the magical song and dance?"

segue into wonder adventures?

"Well - No, I haven't tried - nor have I heard of anyone attempting," Mont Blonc said, although his glance was subtly skeptical at best. "But if you're like me, I - I think there's more to it than that." He couldn't say it with any definite certainty. But in spite of his aversion to his wonder, as strong as that aversion was, the thought of bartering it away felt like wood being cut against the grain. It was all completely irrational, of course, and since the page didn't really know what to do with it, he didn't really feel like he had any place saying more than that. (Even that much might have been too much, really.)

Still. He had to wonder what Scholomance might be like. He felt such a pull to Saturn, but his experience at Mont Blonc had been so...

He blinked. Igor? Oh. "Oh, " he repeated out loud, a slight smile on his lips and a splash of red across his cheeks as he straightened out, standing properly at his true height - more than six feet tall, and with several inches on his fellow page. (Yes, for Mont Blonc, it was possible.) "Sorry. Bad habit, " he explained somewhat lamely, one he was trying very hard to shake but none of that really mattered a lick right now. "Alright. Time to go."

It wasn't really necessary to announce it. But it did give him a few seconds leeway before he reached out to touch Scholomance's arm (he was pretty sure this required contact? but he's only done it once so) finally uttered the pledge. Moments later, they would be gone.
