The day had started off innocently enough, and then Nadia had gotten a half-frantic text from her boyfriend:

I just realized I'm starting college in three weeks and I have no idea what I'm doing.

Followed quickly by:

This map doesn't help, I have no idea where I am. The bookstore was supposed to be here but it's just a field. Why.

Then that was followed by:

Oh god the sprinklers came on. Oh my god.

And then, finally:

I'm so sorry Nadia, how are you doing today?

Nadia was lazing through her notebooks in her classroom. The class it's self had ended, and she was on the tail end of filling out the rest of her notes and sheets. Summer classes had been well...short thank goodness. And she no longer needed anymore as long as she got into a studio.

Colin was working her hard when he could.

She almost jumped as her phone rang, with texts in unison. She waited until the last one, by this time she was giggling, before sending him one. Then she packed up her books and went to go search the university for him.

I'm coming to get you Handsome. Okay, just finished a short lecture. Happen to be on campus. Aren't you lucky?

She could take him by the costuming to see if there was clothes to find.

'I love you.'

That was the first text Lorne typed without thinking, and he could have slapped himself because really, why Lorne, just why? Luckily he caught himself before he hit send, and he just dropped down onto a bench at the edge of whatever field it was that'd sprayed him. Luckily he'd managed to keep his phone out of range, but as for the rest of him...

Well, Nadia would find one very tall and exhausted looking boyfriend with his hair hanging all around his face in wet tendrils, his black jeans, white t-shirt, and black vest all completely soaked and clinging to him like a second skin. If he would've walked, his boots definitely would have squeaked with every step he took.

The worst part was he lived by the university. You'd think he would've had a hold on this by now, but - well, this was just Lorne's life, really.

I am literally the luckiest man imaginable and you are an absolute angel, I am so sorry.

She would find the most pitiable puppy Lorne on a bench outside the field and as she came close, she gave a worried look.

"Oh Lorne." She sighed as she came closer, brushing hair out of his face. He was soaked, and he'd need a change of clothes. She took his hand and pulled him up. "Let's go by the theater. We'll borrow one of the stage hands outfits. She was sure there was black sweatshirts and pants to help the hands blend in with the background for him. And maybe a towel to mop up the water in his hair.

"So you were looking for the bookstore hmm?"

If Lorne was looking like a sad puppy, the look he gave Nadia was the same as one who was happy their person had come home - sheepish, yes, but unabashedly delighted and relieved. "Yes, I - why was there a field where the bookstore was supposed to be?" he asked hopelessly as he held up a printed version of the school map. "I swear I can read a map. - is this map a prank? Am I being hazed?"

He shuddered once as a breeze went by, chilled, but it wasn't really a bad thing on a hot summer day. "I am so sorry, " he murmured. "I'd say we could just go back to my apartment for more clothes, but - " It'd been a decently long walk to get here from there. He really needed to look into getting a bike or something. "Thank you Nadia."

Although really, despite being soaked and everything else, he was stupidly happy she was here.

She took a gander at the map and had to stifle a sigh. It was the older version of the map, meaning that the school had yet to update the website. She should've asked Lorne his first day or when he needed to go so she could show him the way.

"This is an older map. The bookstore, and food court and Cafeteria used to be here, but the demolished it a couple years back and moved it-" Her finger drew closer to the history department and circled a large empty space on the map. "They integrated it here. Your map is too old handsome." She laughed. When he shuddered, she pulled him up and started pulling him towards the theater. There was no need for her handsome man to be catching a cold now!

"Is that all you could think of going back to your apartment for handsome?" She gave him a coy look over her shoulder before laughing. "I'm always here if you need me." She swung their arms together, leaning her head to hover over his shoulder. She would rest it there if he wasn't wet but well...

Lorne groaned when she pointed out the changes, his shoulders sagging slightly in a playfully exaggerated way. "So essentially what you're telling me is the school is the one hazing me then, " he quipped, but softly, a sheepish smile settling onto his lips.

As always, he was easy to lead along - not only used to it, but it was also a trust thing. He'd probably go anywhere Nadia told him to... although to be fair, he was returning the favor more, showing her some of his favorite places in the park and outside of the city. All natural, all beautiful. All certainly very respectable places to explore or nap or sometimes to lay there and kiss in the sun.

Unsurprisingly, he blushed. But a series of words rolled off his tongue before he could overthink them and strangle the life out of them: "Are you that excited to see me with my clothes off?" Then he promptly averted his gaze, still red, but with a smile that almost, almost bordered on sly.

There was a grain of truth to it though; Mont Blonc's stomach might be out there for the whole world to see, but Lorne was undeniably (also unsurprisingly) modest. He'd seen Nadia in less than she'd seen him.

He loved the way she took his arm, and the way they could walk so smoothly together side by side - it was such a simply silly little thing, but those were the things he loved the most. "But sometimes I worry - that I need you too much." Lorne cracked a candid sort of smile, his shoulders swooping.

She rose a brow and shrugged, "The students can be pretty lazy, whoever is in charge of the site probably just decided not to update it." She patted him, "I'm sorry you had to deal with that love. I had hoped that perhaps you wouldn't..." She really had hoped he would have a easy time at school, she still sort of did.

They turned a corner and the large theater building appeared, as she placed her borrowed theater keys into the lock. The door led them right into props and costuming.

"I'm more then excited." She let a hot gaze rake over him, "I'm practically dying in anticipation." And it wasn't fair that she got to see his cute little tummy in his page outfit. She almost HOPED he lost clothes as he upgraded, like she had, but she didn't think he would.

"Here you go handsome." She pulled out a large sized sweatshirt, still wrapped in plastic and reached under to fish for the black sweat pants that went a long with it.

"Hope you don't mind comfy clothes, if you roll up your sweat pants, you can look like a sexy dark gym brat." She winked, and then crossed her arms, watching him.

With a smile.

"It's okay." Lorne didn't want to admit that her just being there and hearing that easy, sweet petname fall from her lips made the whole thing better already. But he didn't really have to say it out loud. His lips curled into a broader, brighter smile at 'love', whether he wanted it to happen or not. "At least now I've got a story to tell, right? There are worse things that could have happened."

He looked up at the theater building with a hint of awe, because even if he had been living near the campus all summer, again - he mostly just knew the gym and back. Anything else was a maze of dorms and buildings he didn't yet know the names of.

Even though he was the one that'd made the joke in the first place, the way she looked at him still made him blush - not completely uncontrollably, but still enough to be noticeable. Then, he laughed, because that was just Nadia, and he never really totally minded no matter how flustered he got. "Try not to be too disappointed, " he teased, well, mostly teased.

"Thank you Nadia, " he breathed out when she handed him the clothes; comfy was fine, they felt squishy and they were new and most of all they were dry. (Some part of him was relieved she'd just given them to him - not like he thought she'd hold them for ransom or anything - probably? No. No she'd given them to him so it was safe.)

... oh but she really was watching. But she was his girlfriend, he reminded himself stubbornly, fighting the blush and like most battles, he was losing pretty miserably. It wasn't as though it was nothing she wouldn't see eventually anyway. He wasn't even going to be getting naked, and she'd already seen him pantless anyway!

That didn't stop him from taking his time a little. First, he slipped off his sneakers - then his vest - and he did both of these very, very carefully. He debated taking off his socks, but wet feet and wet sneakers just seemed like a terrible idea no matter how he sliced it.

Of course, since the shirt was white anyway, it wasn't as though it left a whole lot to the imagination. So he carefully tugged it up and over his head, stealing a glance at Nadia from the very corner of his eye, wondering if she was really watching - and maybe if she was - maybe to see if she liked what she saw when she saw him. There was always a chance she wouldn't.

Then, finally, the pants. With the shirt out of the way already, somehow the pants felt easier to strip away and add to the growing pile. Technically his boxers were just as soaked as the rest of him, but those were fine staying on. With a soft sigh, he reached for the bags of clothes and got ready to get clothes right back on again.

Lorne had a lot to think about, but Nadia really didn't. She felt no shame in watching him, and not just because he was her boyfriend, but because she was used to boys and she was used to be in spaces where they changed, or anyone changed. She was used to costuming and naked.

But for some reason, she liked watching Lorne. He did it shyly, and just a bit enticing and if she was any less of the woman she was, she'd be wiggling with excitement. Instead, her arms uncrossed, sneaking into her pocket.

She had waited till the opportune moment, snapping a silent picture of him, then checked the picture. At that time, he was peeking at her, so he was rewarded with the sight of her checking her phone.

Which was her admiring the very sexy shot she managed to get of him.

"You okay there handsome?" The picture was set to her background.

Not Lorne, the awkwardly shy man who had stood over half his class in high school but still tried to huddle into the corner to change for gym class, never daring to look up from the floor. Sometimes he'd duck into the bathroom to change if he could get away with it.

Oblivious to Nadia's stealthy photography, all he saw was his girlfriend on her phone. He wondered if maybe she was doing it to try and make him feel better about this? More comfortable? Maybe. (There was part of him was disappointed she hadn't been looking, but it was silly and irrational and he tried not to mull over it too long. She was being thoughtful, that was good!

"Yeah, I'm fine, " he declared, tugging his sweatpants up and opening up the sweatshirt to go with it. Moments later, he was nice and clothed again and held out his arms almost sheepishly. "So? - I should definitely dress like this for our next date, don't you think?" God his attempts at jokes were so lame.

With his stripped picture on her background, Nadia clicked off her screen. Lorne was dressed in the baggy clothing and she made a face. It wasn't the most flattering but, no matter what he was in, she still thought him very sexy.

"Here," She reached over for a plastic trash bag, since it was the nearest thing by. "We can drop those off in my car if you want. Then I can give you a really grand tour of the school." She winked and then laughed.

"If you wanted Handsome, That'd be the most comfiest date ever." She laughed and then headed out, "I could never complain with the time you give me!"

Baggy or not, it was warm enough outside that Lorne at least had the foresight to push up his sleeves. He shook out his hair a little since it was kind of all over the place and flashed her a smile, gratefully accepting the bag and depositing the clothes in it.

"You are the single most amazing, considerate, dazzling girlfriend anyone has ever had, " he declared, carefully enunciating every last syllable as though that somehow made the impact more powerful. For a guy who stuttered so much, maybe it did. "Thank you."

He leaned over and kissed her rather tenderly on the lips, lingering for a second before easing away again, trying to obscure the small splash of color that inevitably followed. It was still annoying, but sometimes it wasn't just embarrassment (was it even that?) and more just a kind of rush that came from the act itself.

He laughed as he followed her, his sneakers 'squish squish squishing' as he walked, although he flushed pleasantly at that last part. "Me too, " he admitted, flashing her a smile and a glance from the corner of his eye. "I know you're so busy with Colin and - everything - " The dancing, the summer classes she was finishing, everything to do with Methone. " - and you still make so much time for me - "

He realized abruptly, and was grateful he hadn't said anything out loud, that he badly wanted to do something nice for her. Something really nice. He didn't know what yet, but he'd think of something.

"If I couldn't maintain that much, then I'd be nothing!" She flexed, as she held the bag. She didn't really even think twice of it too, there was no reason to make him carry it.

As they hit outside, she was glad that it wasn't blistering heat, and that she would have to feel bad for giving him the black clothing of the stage crew. During the shows, it didn't seem bad, but she was always in smaller outfits.

"Aw stop that handsome." She waved her hand, flipping her hair over her shoulder and laughing. "I am not that great, I am just me." But she happily nudged him, her smile stuck there. Hard not to be with Lorne.

"Colin understands as well. He keeps me working, but off days like these are nice too!" She murmured as she swung the bag, back and forth. "And he does his thing too. I should tell you that Auguste probably has the hugest crush on Colin, just a great fan. They met not too long ago." She laughed.

They made it to her car first, and she deposited the wet clothes in her trunk, pretty sure they'd dry with he usual car heat.

"Okay handsome. Do you know what your classes are? It's probably a good idea to get all the classroom buildings down. Then we can hit the bookstore!" She'd probably ask for his schedule at some point, so she could make sure to get him the books he needed.

He held out a hand to offer to carry the bag, but didn't force it - and also thought to himself that again, not only was she one hell of a girl, but also how lucky he was and all the ways he could try and show her just how special he thought she was.

"I only tell the truth, " he reminded her with a sweet little smile, "No exaggerations, no replacements, no omissions, and certainly no substitutions." For all the times he said that, yes, Lorne could lie; he just tended to be terrible at it so really, he might as well not even bother.

"I'm sure they are!" He covered his mouth with his hand as he laughed, "Does he? - well that's absolutely adorable, " because of course he'd heard all about Auguste through text by now. He still hadn't met him face to face, and for a hot second he'd almost worried about Nadia sharing her place with another man. Almost. But he trusted her implicitly, and trust was the foundation for any real lasting relationship, and --

-- he wanted this to last as long as it could. He hoped it would.

"My schedule, " Lorne echoed, and he blushed lightly as he pulled up the picture he'd taken of it on his phone. "Right, uh - " Of course she'd ask for it. He glanced at Nadia, then back at his phone, and somewhat sheepishly handed it over to her.

There were four classes to start with: Intro to Environmental Studies, Intro to Biology, American Literature, and finally, the very most basic course for learning Russian.
