Vesresh bit his lip as he hesitated over a piece of paperwork, fighting the distracting emotions that filtered in from his dragon. He'd known that this would happen for a few days now – Mornhavonth's hide had looked like fire beneath his oiling, and her thoughts had turned more... well... purple.

Morn was young, but Vesresh knew her well enough to know when she was proddy, and he resigned himself to just having to deal with the distraction and the ensuing headache. Secretly, he would likely enjoy her flight, but he didn't like admitting that. He wasn't sure why.

he implored the dragon, Also, bleed her kills – maybe, if she did that, she would clutch. He kind of hoped she would... and he knew she did too.

(No clutch this time, but thats ok)

Mornhavonth made no promises.

She blooded her kills, the warm and savory feel of it making her throat burn. Her eyes blazed a brilliant purple as she raised her head. She felt hot – blazing hot – and she was ready to fly. She stretched her wings and called to any males ready to fly;

She growled, strength flooding her as the blood hit her stomach,

And with that, she launched into the air, throwing her head back in challenge, she sneered, looking back to assess whoever dared to fly her...

Ahkerath was happy lounging in his wallow when Mornhavonth's call went out. The compact blue's eyes snapped open and his head shot up, eyes instantly whirling to purple. Scrambling to his feet the blue bound forward and launched into the air with the grace of a newborn hatchling. He was a spirited fellow and trilled happily at the crimson. Ahkerath could do tests! He was very quick and very good in the air. Look! Look! The blue twisted in a tight barrel roll.

It seemed that the intimidation of Mornhavonth's challenge only seemed to make the blue more giddy. It was not, however, lost on his rider. Who quietly hoped that the crimson would not be offended by the excitable blue. Hopefully the naive dragon would not come home with a new battle scar.

Leszyth was still positively glowing from his performance in the agility course, preening beside Trine's lake when he heard Mornhavonth's call. Mine, I will take part in this flight and win Mornhavonth! C’rrys had been lounging about in their weyr, trying to avoid Leszyth’s excessive gloating, Heh, best of luck Leszy. Leszyth leapt to the skies and retorted, Who needs luck? I am the best blue there is! C’rrys merely rolled his eyes and returned to the book he had been reading as Leszyth broadcasted towards Mornhavonth, eyes swirling purple, I am worthy fiery one, I’d like to see another best me!

[speed roll] 6, 12, 10, 15, 2

Nothing could prepare her for the sound of the bugle that broke the air. "By the shards!" She said under her breath as she felt her blue stir. She knew he loved to chase any that rose and she wasn't prepared for this. She was in the middle of oiling down his riding saddle and her riding gear.

Reciproth heard the crimsons call and he let out a deep and throaty return call. He was no hatchling to risings, he was 7 turns now and had a scar or two.

Naressa knew she had no choice in the matter. She never denied him a rising. She figured he had as good a chance as any and would never tell him no. 'Fly fast, fly far and fly hard my fine Reciproth.' 'I always do Mine.'

He heard Mornhavonths taunts and called back as he extended his wings and took to the sky in quick pursuit. He wasn't as agile as most blues, due to his size. He was built for strength and endurance. 'I shall fly with you.'

Brown Osieth

T'cos knew what was coming when a call sounded through the weyr. He could see dragon heads popping up all over the weyr; specifically the males. A Flight was underway. Are you?

Yes, came the short reply. Mornhavonth calls. The brown launched himself after the crimson. Isn't it selling yourself short to call them worthy before you've flown with them? He sent to Morn. Clearly he was a good choice if she wanted to cut straight to the chase. His wings were fresh and he made a good start off the ground.

Enthusiasm was good. Agility was good. Though her suitors were mostly blues, Mornhavonth was pleased with her retinue. Not as big as a golds, but she didn't have to be a gold.

She had to be Mornhavonth, and that was a part she could, of course, play with ease.

She was pleased, especially, to see a large, strong blue among them... good. Now if he was strong in mind too...

she crooned to Leszyth and Osieth, She said to the rest as she lurched up suddenly, her red wings flashing as she suddenly gained altitude, a glitter of red bursting through the purple of her eyes,

As he took to the sky after her he noticed the other suitors. Some of which were pretty, boisterous.. He wouldn't say they were confident, their actions spoke otherwise. Still, he paid no mind to them. His eyes were on the prize. The red hide of the crimson glistened in the sunlight and he beat his wings and followed suit behind her. He could play these games. He was built for this.

Leszyth’s wings strained as he fought to gain altitude with the crimson hide before him, but she was no slight green and he was not well-suited for such a maneuver. Nevertheless, he would not give up so easily, his eyes gaining their own flecks of red in furious determination amongst a violet field. He had seen his fair share of flights in ten turns and knew this was by no means a loss, there were sure to be many more surprises ahead.

Okay, so maybe he wasn't the strongest blue out there. 'Stocky', was the word his rider used. Despite that though he was full of energy and ready to take up Mornhavonth's test. The young blue bugled and he beat his wings frantically to build up altitude. Hopefully the crimson would notice him and be impressed by how dedicated he was to her, because Ahkerath would follow the blazing Mornhavonth to the ends of Pern if that was where she chose to fly!

Yes indeed, she had a suitable set of suitors, and they had behaved well on her first test.

She said to them all, she sent a pulse of telepathic pressure at them – before powering forward. she crooned,

Reciproth bellowed a deep challenge at the female as he pursued her through the sky. His eyes a swirl of purple as he followed her. He enjoyed how feisty she was. Brown Osieth

He barely glanced at the other males in the sky around him. They weren't worth his notice except as competition to take out of the air. Osieth narrowed his eyes. If anyone dared crowd him, he'd take a swipe at them. For now he wanted to scoff at the blue who bellowed. Hollow promises. His lip curled slightly. Tell me who and I shall knock them from the skies for you. He wanted to win, and he'd do everything he could.

Ahkerath shrank back when the mental pressure pushed at him. He didn't like fighting... Why did everyone always have to get so aggressive in flights? Couldn't they just have a game instead? There was no bellow or answer to be heard from the little blue this time around. The others could shout their superiority, Ahkerath would wait for now, for things to lighten up a bit.
