It was a beautiful night. The oppressive summer heat of the day had relinquished to a cooler, almost fall like temperature for the night. There was absolutely no way Gweneth was going to let such a lovely night pass her by. So she had set out in search of a cafe to get herself some good, cold tea. It didn't take her long to find a small, quaint cafe and she was soon walking out with a large cup of cold blueberry green tea.

Sipping merrily on the tea, Gwen gazed around at the shops she passed. She paused for a moment in front of one that showcased some adorable summer dresses. In particular a green dress with a deep V neckline and a short hemline caught her attention. She stood there staring at it longingly before sighing. "I need a job first before I do any unnecessary shopping."

Moving away from the store front Gwen continued her walking. In fact, she walked so far that she hadn't realized she was as far from home as she was and in a rather unfamiliar area. Well, most of the city was unfamiliar yet but she had begun to find a radius from her house that she was beginning to get comfortable with. The store fronts had long given way to a residential areas which led to where she was now. What had caused her to stop was the large factory style building that loomed alongside of her.

Not knowing where she was, the streets being a little darker than she'd like, and the shadows cast y the building caused Gwen to feel a little unsure of herself. That was something she didn't feel often.

"I should head back home now anyway. It's getting late and I should let Reilly out."

She mused that maybe she should have brought the little sheltie along with her. He certainly would have made her feel a bit less uncomfortable at that moment.

Hope this is OK!

The cooler temperature was much appreciated for Aurostibite, whose long-sleeved, stiff uniform tended to offer no relief from the sweltering summer heat. His long hair did not help things either, though he refused to cut it anyway, and by now it fell in sleek curls most of the way down his back, jet black except for the peacock colored strands to the right of his face.

And now he was out on patrol, dark gaze sweeping the streets for any sign of movement. He was in a lesser occupied part of the city this time, store fronts and office buildings and restaurants gone and replaced by smaller, more suburban houses with backyards and buildings. Beyond that lay an abandoned building, the factory looming imposingly over the houses, half draped in shadows and cobwebs, long since in disarray from disuse.

There wasn't supposed to be anyone here at this time of night, but there was.

She was a young woman, red haired and freckle faced, and Aurostibite had been watching her for a few minutes, expressionless and quiet as he'd stood on the roof of the abandoned factory. She hadn't noticed him, but he'd certainly caught the movement of someone walking, and now he was simply biding his time.

She'd paused; Aurostibite crouched lower, and then, quite nimbly, he leapt over the side and landed catlike on the pavement beside the building, scaling down the side of it with the practiced ease of someone who had done it many times before.

Aurostibite stepped towards her, a shadow falling across his face.

"Talking to yourself?" he asked quietly, head tilted to the side. "That's the first sign of going crazy, you know."

Gwen was normally a woman who wasn't perturbed by much. After all, living with two men in a city meant that she learned a few things about taking care of herself. Plus, living in the Big Apple helped harden her. She'd heard about attacks and how people always seemed to be in a place they didn't belong, or were just plain unlucky. It was one of the reasons why she wanted out of the city. She wanted to live somewhere that had the feel of an urban town but wasn't quite as...dangerous.

When the man practically appeared out of no where and approached her Gwen's eyes widened. She had made a mistake. On many accounts.

At least, that's what it was beginning to look like.

Her cold resolve kicked in though and she quickly tried to mask her surprise and fear as she looked at him. "I'll be more worried if I start answering my own questions." She threw back in as she stood her ground.

The sound of her father's voice seemed to be echoing in her head in his usual thick irish accent. 'If ye cent run. Stand ye ground.' Welp, there really wasn't anywhere to run to in this place. Maybe she could dodge down a darkened alley way but she wasn't particularly close.

Not to mention. Where the hell did that guy come from? A window? Either way that was a pretty high drop since she was certain he hadn't come from the first floor considering all of the window frames were still sporting glass.

"Now if you'll excuse me." She eyed him, but didn't move from her spot. The last thing she wanted to do was put at her back or side while trying to pass him.

His expression didn't change, even when she snapped back at him, Aurostibite merely contemplating her with a quiet sort of musing. His face registered hardly anything at all; there was no anger or malice, no thirst for blood, nor violence. Instead, he simply stood there quietly and almost unassuming in his posture, had it not been for the daggers in his hands.

"I'm sure you would be," he said quietly.

He could read in her tone that she didn't want to stay; that she would make any excuse to walk around him, pass by if she could, but Aurostibite wasn't ready to let her do that. He wouldn't hurt her if he could help it - at least, not much - but he needed her to stay.

He took a step closer, lifting his chin, blue eyes half shaded in shadow, with the rest of his face.

"Going somewhere?" he asked quietly, and lifted a hand, one of the daggers catching the moonlight and glinting silver. "I wouldn't try anything fast, if I were you; I'd rather not have to use these on a young lady, but if you try and run, I'll be forced."

For a moment or two Gwen actually thought he was going to let her by. He seemed so...uncommitted to what was going on. She may have just tried to walk on past him if it weren't for the weapons in his hands. Those were not things she wanted to see any closer.

Then he took a step closer. The shadows on his face was making him appear more intimidating.

What the hell am I going to do?

"Right I'll just stand here then and let ye do as ya will with me." Her Irish lilt became a bit more pronounced with her fear.

With one of the weapons now raised, Gwens instincts kicked in. She hoped that maybe, just maybe she could get in too close for him to use his weapons efficiently. So she rushed him.

With her movement she attempted to punch him in the stomach. The idea was to wind him so that she could get a head start run. If she could get far enough away she may be able to get into screaming distance of someone's house. The only problem with this plan was that Gwen had no real idea how to deal with weapons like this. A small pocket knife? Sure. They were small and easier to direct. Plus, most people only carried one of those. These were anything but small.

He was not normally in the practice of chasing down young girls, especially in the dead of night; Aurostibite's general targets were those that had nothing left of them, drug addicts and homeless people or drunks coming out of clubs and bars. They were the easiest, the simplest, but they were also running out. The amount of Negaverse agents and the amount of civilians they could safely take energy from were growing limited, and he'd had to think outside the box.

Not only that, but she'd wandered here, away from everyone else, away from the nearest town, only at this abandoned factory. It made her a prime target, after all, and Aurostibite was simply taking advantage of that fact.

He knew a split second before she moved that she wasn't going to be taken down easily. Her first connected with his chest, and Aurostibite staggered back, swearing, heaving for breath as his feet skidded along the pavement. A snarl escaped his chest, and then he'd lunged forward towards her, one hand reaching for her wrist.

"That wasn't very nice."

The contact of her fist hitting the mans chest caused her to hesitate for a split second. She hadn't utilized her forward motion quite as well as she should have but her legs pumped hard as she tried to dodge around the stumbling man and head for safety. She thought she was golden at that point. With a head start Gwen was certain that she'd be able to maintain a decent mount of distance.

She hadn't even registered that her wrist had been captured until she felt her shoulder pull back and just about completely knock her off of her feet. A yell of surprise and a little pain as muscles in her shoulder were pulled escaped her.

Andrenaline was quick to take over once again as she staggered and whipped around with eyes wide in fright at his words. How the hell he managed to grab her so quickly she had no clue. Maybe she hadn't hit him as hard as she thought or in the right spot? She had been worried about those damn blades of his.

Struggling against his grip, Gwen practically clawed at his hand with well manicured nails. "Let me go a*****e!" With a snarl she lifted her captured hand, and using her free one she grabbed his own wrist and tried to use her body weight and twist his arm and wrist in the opposite direction it was meant to go. It was one of the few moves she knew to get out of someone's grip, but she'd never had a reason to do it outside of her father teaching her. Not to mention, she was panicing at this point.

She was a feisty, determined one, he had to give her credit for that. Used to dealing with civilians too out of their minds to understand what was going on most of the time, Aurostibite had grown a little complacent in terms of energy gathering. He saw now, quite clearly, his mistake in these regards.

He'd managed to catch her by the wrist, catching up with her after a second, though he was still a bit winded. Aurostibite gave a scowl and a snarl, automatically loosening his fingers as she scratched at him. He wouldn't have yanked his hand away, but now she'd grabbed his wrist and was pulling hard, forcing him to release her altogether. A shiver of pain reverberated up and down his arm, and he shook his hand free, scowling.

"Don't fight, it'll make it worse," Aurostibite snapped, and swung his leg out, attempting to catch her by the ankle.

"I'm not going to kill you."

"Right, and I am just going to let you do whatever you want to me?" She snapped back in anger and fright. At this point, she was completely loosing her cool. She'd never been in such a situation. Sure, she'd heard about it happening to other people, rea dit int he news, even discussed what she would do if it ever happened to her, but really...she had no clue that it would be like this. Nothing like this.

She thought she'd take on a situation like this with a cool head and walk away the victor. Her head was anything but cool at this point and once again the man got the better of her as she turned to try to run again. This time thought she fell, hard.

Her hands and elbows took the brunt of the fall as she fell face first to the sidewalk. The pain was there one second and gone in an instant. It was really amazing what the human body could overcome or ignore when in a fight or flight mode. She was getting ready to turn and kick out at him when his next words rocked her.

Oh God. Was he going to...

Gwen's fear became even more pronounced. Her mind had jumped to a place that no woman, hell, even man, wanted to think about happening to them. Any idea of fighting back at this point was completely erased from her mind. She just wanted to get away. Far, far away.

She attempted to get to her feet, but tripped over herself in her frantic flailing and opted to attempt to scramble away but was really doing a poor a** job of it and doing quite the favor of scraping her limbs on the rough macadam in the process.

He was getting more annoyed by the second, Aurostibite's normally stoic face easing into something more unpleasant. A scowl had touched his lips as he grappled with her to get his wrist away before it snapped, boots clicking on the pavement.

His kick seemed to have worked. She went down with a crack that didn't quite register in Aurostibite's head. He disliked having to resort to tactics like these when it came to something that should have been simple; if she had just stayed still, it would have been over already.

She'd tried to get up again, but fell. Aurostibite circled around around to her front and knelt down by her head, face rapidly resorting back to his usual stoic expression. Though strangely enough, there almost seemed to be a small fraction of disappointment in his eyes before it dissipated.

"I told you," he said quietly, and reached out, gloved fingers closing around her wrist in a grasp that wasn't necessarily strong, but purposeful, Aurostibite already starting to pull energy. "If you hadn't struggled, you would have gotten out of here without pain."

Gweneth didn't catch any of the man's expressions. She was far too worried about getting away to really care what he was feeling about the whole situation. She knew what she was feeling, fear, and it was directing her every movement. Gwen didn't get far though. She was not utilizing herself well enough to get away and when the man knelt in front of her she stopped for a fraction of a second. Her mind seemed blank on which direction to go for that split second before deciding that backpeddling was the answer.

She didn't get a chance to move munch at all before he grabbed hold of her wrist and she felt herself begin to grow tired. The sensation felt odd, and she became acutely aware of the grip on her wrist and how it didn't feel like he was purposefully holding her in the spot she was in.

Not wanting to give in to the drain on her energy Gwen weakly pulled back on her hand but it was half-hearted at best. "What are you doing?" She murmured as her body began to relax even more.

Energy draining was something of a science, Aurostibite thought, as he knelt beside the girl. It had to be precise enough to not be too little and leave things undone, and cautious enough not to be too much and go overboard. And it wasn't like he was going to kill her - in fact, he'd had no intentions of it from the start, but she had run and she had been scared, and now she was on the ground. It wasn't the way he'd wanted things to turn out, but he'd take what he could get.

"I did warn you I didn't want to use my knives on you," Aurostibite said quietly, still pulling energy, two fingers on the inside of the girl's wrist, thumb on the other side to hold her steady. He didn't need to tie her down; she'd be drowsy enough as it as not to have the strength to run away, and then he'd at least move her to a secluded spot.

"Don't worry," he assured her, voice still soft. "Just sleep, it will be over soon."

Gwen was confused. None of what had happened or was happening was making any sense. She could chock that up to the fact she she was growing oddly more and more exhausted by the second or that truly this night was just strange. Either way, Gwen wasn't getting anywhere with her train of thought. In fact, she wasn't getting anywhere. Period.

By this point Gwen was so tired she was struggling to stay awake. A part of her was still afraid to completely give in to whatever was happening to her with this man standing right there. His quiet claims of not wanting to hurt her were doing nothing to help calm her. The steady flow of energy leaving her body was all that kept Gwen in her spot.

Eventually the drowsiness and lack of energy resulted in Gwen giving in. Her head gently dropped to lay on the macadam, no longer looking up at the stranger. She could still feel the touch of his fingers on her wrist but everything was growing more distant.

Finally, the drain was too much for her and she felt her eyes droop shut. The last thing she head was his soft voice telling her to sleep and for the first time that night, she actually did as her attacker told her.

Gonna be starting a RP right after this one ends so feel free to have Auro stash her someplace where someone might fight her. Wherever you prefer.

He wouldn't take enough to kill her; that seemed highly extraneous, after all, and Aurostibite was not the sort to kill simply for the sake of killing. He'd take what he'd need, what he could get, and then he would release her. If she hadn't struggled, it could have all been over very quickly.

"Sleep," said Aurostibite again, voice soft, and he could feel the energy curling up from the girl's body into the fingertips at her wrist. She was weakening; even if he could sense it a little, he could physically see her beginning to relax, entirely subconsciously, because he knew if she had a choice, she would fight back.

He wasn't going to give her that choice.

Eventually, her eyes fluttered shut. Eventually, her breathing slowed until it was slow and steady, leveling out evenly, and it was only after he was quite certain that he had gotten what he needed did Aurostibite let go. He crouched beside the girl, a little frown on his face, and then a sigh escaped him.

He couldn't leave her like this, in the middle of the road, and so Aurostibite reached down and carefully pulled her up into his arms. He carried her to the side and laid her gently down in the shadows of the factory building, making sure that she was comfortable and partially hidden from view, just in case any strangers walked by.

"Rest well," he told her quietly, even though she couldn't hear him; and then Aurostibite was gone, disappearing back into the night.
