A sand whale has been spotted nearing the village sand harbour!. These creatures are extremely unfriendly and have been known to swallow entire buildings. Ring the gong, fire bombs, throw ballistas, do what you can to stop the sand whale!
- The sand whale has 200/200 HP. When it hits 150 HP it will leave and swim away.
- At the start of the battle roll 1d6. This is the amount of ballista shots your character gets. Every time you use a ballista shot, you do a perfect 10 HP damage.
- The sand whale does an automatic -1 damage to you every time you attack the sand whale.
If you thwart the sand whale it drops a whale fin, it is considered a quest item. Add it to your quest item list

Zar had been taking a short break and watching one of the strange villagers going about their business, wondering when he'd be able to go back home to his basement when suddenly the cry went up around the town of "sand whale".
He had no idea what on earth a sand whale was nor why it was a big deal, but for his own continued survival he supposed that if something dangerous enough to upset the people who lived here was on its way, he might as well help to fight it off. Asking those present he could do to help, he was directed to a stock of ballista shots and made his way over, gathering a stack up in his arms.
He carried them to one of the ballista's lined up ready to shoot at the interloping creature and set about helping out, keen to work with whoever else was stuck on this particular emergency duty.

After the unsuccessful information collecting, he decided to explore the place while searching for his own way to back to the Halloween Town. He arrived at a sand habour, the sand ocean reminded him of his home so he stayed to reminisce. Head noticed the environment was familiar as well and oddly quiet. The boil sat at the edge of the habour, one legs raised to look at the sands. The sands were stead as well as the fog, it was an interesting scene to see with own eyes.
"What're you doing here?" Someone cloaked yelled at AJ, patted on his shoulder. "Sup?" asked the boil. "The sand whale's coming!" The cloaked man replied in surprise, with a blaming expression that suggest "you still need to ask for that?" AJ smiled mildly and repeated in confusion, "Sand whale?" The man widened his eyes at him, "The big trouble that destroys everything!" Another cloaked figure passed by and stopped, "You're still here, we should evacuate, come with me." The two men ran away, then AJ saw a group of cloaked figures pushing ballistas towards the habour. He approached them and asked if he would join them. They didn't have spare time to waste, so they nodded at the boil to follow them.
Arrived at the location, he spotted someone he know. "Hey, I think I know you from Critter." He fell into talk. "AJ! LOOK!" The head yelled at the big thing jumping out of the sand, sands rained down from its body, bringing movements and ruined the stillness.

Zar was glad of someone else's help and presence in the chaos, it had been a long time since he'd found himself out of his depth, having spent most of the recent months carefully renovating and repairing the castle they had decided to call home. The last time he'd been in real peril somewhere that wasn't a strange dream world was back when he had graduated.
But like clockwork, here he was again, trying to figure out how to load ballista into a launcher, slotting the shot into place as AJ showed up. "Oh good." he said with genuine relief. "Yes! I do speak on twitter quite a bit, nice to meet you in person."
He was interrupted as the gun fired with a loud BOOM that made him flinch at how loud it was and pull back from the launcher looking scandalised.
"VERY LOUD ISNT IT?" he said with his delicate ears still ringing.

"Same here, nice to meet you." He casually returned with a smile when he waved at his position. The large scale of burn scar occupied one of his arms, all visible under the short sleeved clothes. Unexpected, it was the Head that answered Zar's question. "IT IS! It buzzed my ears! Ears....do I have ears? I can't see my ears?" It tilted its head, confused as it continued to mumble.
AJ was holding his stomach and cackled up as Head talked to Zar. "I wonder if the sound would scare the whale away. Is that what they're trying to achieve?" He nodded at the cloaked figures. The bomb landed heavily onto the sand, the sands splashed outwards and the whale was unseen in the low visibility. He waited until the sand screen dropped and he could spot the whale dashing towards them. He loaded the bullet onto the track of the ballista, might it be a rock or a spear-like weapon, and fired.
"Do you think we can request something from them for the damage to our ears? Like information about this place and how to return to the town we're familiar with?" He asked, jabbed a thumb at the figures replenished the bullet supply.

The other boil's strange tail caught Zar's attention and for a moment he wondered what it would be like to have a tail that could talk, glad that though his tail was decidedly unruly and prone to causing him problems that at the very least it couldn't talk. The things it would say if it could.
He tried instead to focus on the matter at hand as the whale leapt and attacked anew in the background. "I think yes, we want to scare it away, I don't think these weapons will kill it." He picked up another bullet and set it into position.
"And repaying us? You would think so wouldn't you?" he said irritably. "But I bet that they won't help us at all, despite us doing all the work for them. Rude. They've been nothing but rude so far."
Zar didn't trust the villagers, the way they had treated those who had gotten stranded there was deplorable. Of course, he wouldn't trust himself if he met him, but they didn't even know him.
He was glad it was a large target, because his vision was frankly terrible as he tried to take aim at the beast. Another thudding boom rang out and the attack struck true.

The monster was an easy-going creature, so when the villagers were unkind to him, the first thing he though was there was or were reason(s) behind their attitudes. Head was obviously on Zar's side, it showed solidarity. "YUP! RUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUDE! Why they can't tell us where the treasure is. One glared at us and another one threw a no on our face, so rude! Really rude! Why we have to help them anyway?" The head's neck moved in indignant zig-zag motion, fork tongue flickered as it spoke.
"They treat us badly, it doesn't mean we have to do the same." AJ educated the head. "We're not sure of what happened in the past that made them hostile towards outsiders or was it the fog that make them abnormal like the dragon affected by insanity." He elaborated. "One word, too early to say anything. Though I agree their attitudes were unpleasant." He hoped the villagers would ease up on them, after seeing how friendly they actually were. A trust to be won over, and AJ considered it a challenge. "Do you think we can take the same bus back if we can find the driver?" This time, he was talking to Zar directly.
The whale cried and flopped at the successive shocks but it had no intention to leave. "Alright little thing, time to go home." The boil loaded the bullet and made the device followed the target, he took a risk to guess the path the whale was taking and landed the shot a few metres in the head of th whale. It yelled audibly and changed its direction.

Zar shook his head in agreement with the head's complaints. "Just plain inhospitable. I wouldn't be helping them at all if it didn't put us in danger too. Self-interest as always is the name of the game." As a demon Zar made it a matter of pride not to help anyone he wouldn't get a return on. "Whatever their reasons are, it isn't acceptable to treat me with anything but respect."
He loaded up yet another bit of ammunition. "I don't know if I would like to take the same bus back to town, given how well it went before. I don't want to end up trapped in some other even worse place as a result of imbiciles at the wheel."
He thumped the weapon irritably and it fired with a boom.
"It's hearing something." he said finally as the creature let out another wailing bellow and turned, sending up a deluge of sand which left Zar coughing, but it seemed for the most part that it was actually leaving them alone, taking the hint that it was no longer wanted.
"AND GOOD RIDDANCE." he called in false bravado after it.

The Head nodded sagely, unfit for its childish manifestation. "You're right. I hate rude creeple, but AJ just treats everyone nicely? Although he's doing for pure kindness, I don't want him to be called hypo-hippo-hapo?crite...?" The young creature tilted its head this angle and that angle, struggled for the right word it watched on a SV (skellyvision) drama show. Like parrot learning creeple speaking, it might not fully understand what it meant. "You're a wise man, Zzzzzzzzzzar." It couldn't help to make the sound because it was half serpent.
"Hmm, maybe there is a functional portal somewhere?" AJ mused. "I doubt if that moron was driving, he seems to lose control on the serpent or ...more likely not controlling at all." He looked around. "There's seem not public transport here either, I bet it's Sakoku - I mean close-door policy, they isolated themselves from the rest of the world." He contemplated further, found it was quite interesting.
"Hurraaaaay, it leaves! Bye Whale~" Head waved goodbye. AJ cackled at Zar and the head's funny duo, amused. "I don't think it'll learn its lesson, it acts like those villains warn the winner after being defeated, like 'I'll be back'. I guess it can't taketotal lose, so it splashed sands at us. Quite cute." He looked around, the cloaked figures quickly moved their machines away, it seemed to suggest they were quite used to it already. "So where're you heading? It didn't seem we can collect useful information here."

"There is almost always some sort of agenda to pleasantness." Zar said. "Wether the person realises it or not." He did not presume to know AJ well enough to understand why he might opt to be nice, so he didn't speculate. He did have to laugh though. "I /wish/ I was wise, if I was wise I would not have made even a fraction of the questionable decisions I have to date."
"Who knows how or why they got here or how we might get home, I'd just very much like to. And if the whale comes back, hopefully they will get someone else who isn't me to carry their ammunition around." he flexed his shoulders with a click of tendons and stretching out his enormous wings before he furled them again.
"I should probably go find my friend, he is prone to getting into trouble and is not so good at taking care of himself." he smirked. "Hopefully I will see you around, preferably when we all get to go home rather than in mortal danger again. Pleasure meeting you in the flesh." he bowed amicably before turning and heading away.
"Hold on," AJ halted Zar from leaving and with a leap, he plunged into the sand. A big horned serpent dragon creature swam in the sands without difficulty and dove in. A while later, a hand showed up grabbing the edge of the habour, bringing two big fins with it. AJ reappeared dusted him off the sands and handed the demon one of it.
"Souvenir. Good luck in finding your friend and see you around." The boil smirked playfully, the fin in his hand reflected light and shimmered. "Not from that one we scared off, probably freshly died one's. Anyway, it might be useful, who knows." He shrugged.
