The village is running low on food and it is up to you to find some steaks and cook them for the village. You are granted exactly one portable spit though you will have to do the hunting yourself.

Right in the outskirts of the village are EVIL HAND TURKEYS. They have 10 HP each, which your character will have to defeat in normal battle combat style (attack with the dice mechanics of your current character until it hits 0 HP). They do -2 auto damage to you every time you hit it. When you have defeated a turkey, you can carve from it, a turkey steak.

Roll 1d10 to cook your steak. If you roll 1-5 your steak is raw, if you roll 6-8 your steak is perfect, if you roll 9-10 you steak is unedible. Only RAW and perfect steaks are allowed.

gaia_star If you acquire a perfect steak, it is considered a quest item. Add it to your quest item list.

Having dusted herself, Lucille noticed the shambling figures of a bunch of emaciated village-looking folks approaching.

“We are hungry,” said one without humour.

“Get us food,” said another.

“Pronto,” agreed the third.

“Wow, you guys certainly do not beat around the bush,” exclaimed Lucille as she eyed the small group. “Although…,”

In the Reaper’s mind, the title of her assignment was beginning to take shape. Helping Hapless Hungry Villagers would probably not work. It would imply that she was out doing charity. Not something a student from Amityville Academy would like to be associated with. Perhaps a little tweaking of the title would be required. Feeding Ravenous Residents had a slightly more dangerous feel to it. Perhaps she would stick with that…

“Tools over there,” growled the fourth with teeth you could saw planks with.

“You guys certainly do not waste words,” said Lucille with a shake of her head. “Fine, I’ll go,”

And go she did. With a makeshift sling carrying the tools given to her by the villagers (a portable spit), Lucille made her way to the outskirts of the village where…presumably food can be found.

“Gobblaarrrg!!”

Lucille stared. What appeared to be a massive ball of angry feathers seems to be charging directly towards her.

“Woah!!” screamed the Reaper as she narrowly avoided the poultry’s devastating peck. “D-Do people actually eat that?!”

Aiming at the angry bird, Lucille released a fireball.

Which did absolutely no damage whatever to the angry bird due to the relatively small effective range of Lucille’s spell.

“No way!” shrieked the Reaper as the turkey hurled itself at her with mad rolling eyes and wobbling wattles.

“Gobblaarrrg!!”

“Getawaygetawaygetaway!” screamed Lucille as, in desperation, picked up a rock and hurled it at the turkey’s direction.

It was humbling to realize that a rock did better damage than one of her fireballs.

Don’t think such thoughts! rallied Lucille’s inner voice. You were just caught off-guard by the silly bird!

“Y-yeah!” said Lucille as she steadied herself. No way would she live it down if she had to write “lost to a turkey” in her holiday assignment. Her parents might even disown her!

Steadying her nerves, Lucille fired another fireball in the direction of the frenzied bird.

A hit!

The turkey gave a startled squawk as several of its feathers were singed.

That was more like it!

Lucille allowed herself a small smile at the sight of the weakened bird. No way was she going to be bested by a turkey.

“I’m ready for you!” exclaimed the Reaper as the turkey shook itself and prepared for another charge.

“Gobblaarrrg!!” screeched the turkey in reply, its beady eyes bearing malice towards the Reaper before it.

“Wind blast!” commanded Lucille as a ball of wind formed within the palm of her hand and shot towards the charging bird, knocking it sideways.

Now that she seemed to have the upper hand, Lucille was feeling a lot calmer when facing her foe. She could do this. All she had to do was ensure that she kept a calm cool mind.

As the turkey stumbled up on shaky legs, Lucille felt a twang of pity for her adversary. It was probably a good turkey for all she knew. Maybe it even had a family…

Stop it Lucille chided herself. “Look at it! It’s a mad rampaging bird! And the villagers are hungry and… ,”

“Gobblaarrrg!!”

“I’m sorry, I really am,” said Lucille as she aimed the final fireball in the bird’s direction and waited for it to approach her effective range. “But you are the one coming to meet the reaper after all…,”

Obtained: Raw Steak for villagers

The battle had ended and she had emerged victorious. Using yet another fireball to singe off unwanted feathers and several summons of water to wash and clean the bird, Lucille proceeded to cook the bird over the portable spit.

Once this was done, the Reaper carved the turkey. As it turned out, the meat was a little on the raw side but the reaper doubted that the hungry villagers would mind it much.
