Training was hard, but Andy took to it quite well. He was working a lot more smoothly with Rex and had slowly grown to be able to wake at the ******** early time in the morning being a Hunter seemed to require.

Mostly because neither Peyton nor Jordan would allow him to sleep in.

But today was a rare day off...or at least, an afternoon off. And Andy was looking forward to spending some down-time with Peyton. His - and he still didn't like the word - Sempai. With a beach towel draped over one arm, flip-flops on his feet and dressed in a t-shirt and swim trunks, Andy sauntered to the Sun pool, where he would meet Peyton.

It was a good day. Andy whistled as he walked.

Peyton was already there, but then Peyton was usually early to things. This time it appeared as though she'd only just arrived. Her towel was laying on the lounge she was standing beside, and she was in the process of kicking her sandals off beneath it as Andy came in. She paused with fingers curling around the hem of her t-shirt to smile at him, then drew it up over her head.

The bathing suit underneath might have been considered a little on the small size if Peyton herself hadn't been so small. Black, with criss-crossing straps around her ribs that tied at her back. This under dressed, it was easy to see the shoulder scar, the rough 'H' on the right side of her ribcage, the mass of scar tissue on the top of one foot. When she turned to lay the folded shirt on her towel he'd get a glimpse of the tattoo on her back, and the Ursa Major constellation on the back of her neck. Long long hair was pulled up in an artfully messy bundle at the back of her head.

"Yay you found your way here. I was afraid I'd have to come find you." The grin was back, hands coming to rest on her hips. The entrance to the Sun pool was through a portal, but since Andy was Jordan's brother, he assumed the older brother might have clued him in.

Naturally, Andy had a slight advantage to the other trainees starting out - his brother was not only old hat, but also kind enough to explain some things to him. Like thinking (working) with portals.

Peyton looked good. Like, she was covered in scars that held stories she might some day tell him about and a few tattoos. But mostly it was her confidence that made her look that good. Or maybe it was just that he was a guy that had spent two years sleeping in a stasis pod? Naw. Andy didn't think so.

"Hey! Naw, I got Jordy to spill the beans." He was capable, see? Or just working at being that way ,with some help. Andy's trunks were black with neon jellies and he stood with his feet splayed and snapped his towel expertly in her general direction. "Nice bikini." Having said that, the big blond moved closer to where she was to set his towel down and remove his shirt, one hand fisted in the material at his neck so he could peel it off, the other up to catch the collar so it didn't slap him in the face. Without his shirt, his appendicitis scar was evident, and the shorts had made his barked up shins and the dog bite scar on his left calf visible as they usually weren't. His scars weren't nearly as impressive as hers. "How's the water, usually?"

Did he miss the sun and surf? Yes, he did. It was part of the reason he was so excited about this!

"You're lucky, having Jordy. Not only a great brother, but a great resource." Peyton was herself an elder sibling. She'd actually gone through a similar situation as Jordan has. The difference was, when Pey had left home, Astrid had still been there. It had been quite the shocker finding the smaller Creedy in a pod. Peyton still had mixed feelings about her sister being on the island. She loved her, loved having her around, but knowing the sort of danger they were up against, it made Peyton very nervous.

A quick hand snapped forward, the end just barely slipping through delicate fingers. Speed was her thing. A faint smirk followed the compliment as she gave the elastic at one hip a little pluck. Not quiet a nervous fidget, but close. "Thanks."

Lips pursing, she made a move towards the water, but paused as Andy yanked his shirt up over his head, pale gaze moving almost immediately to the appendectomy scar, then down to the rough state of his shins. The usual sorts of wear and tears one might expect to see on an active young person. Though she did wonder what specifically might have caused them. They looked a bit like road rash, but not quite.

Turning back to the water, she moved to the edge to dip a tow in, then stepped off and right into water up to her shoulders. "Cool, but not cold." There were times she'd have preferred warmer, but there were also times when something colder would have been ideally refreshing. Pey didn't know if it had a heater, or if the area it was kept was just so climate controlled the temperature never waved, but it was always the same when she visited.

Sinking in up to her chin, she drifted towards deeper water, looking up at him.

"Yeah, he can be pretty useful." He could also be a pain in the butt, like all siblings could be. Especially with the way they both had such glorious pre-Deus dirt on each other! Not that he planned on telling anyone that stuff, but...it was there. Lurking. Jordan likewise had the goods on him, so it was only fair.

Andy missed her curious once over, but was facing the pool soon enough, watching the petite hunter enter the water. His eyes sparkled with mischief, as Peyton moved into the deeper water, she would hear the sound of bare feet slapping against the ground. She turned just in time to watch the giant dork launch himself from the edge into the deep end, knees tucked and arms holding them as he let out a whoop.

"BONZAAAAAAAAAAAIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII!" It was a spectacular cannonball with form perfected over years and years and it sent his curled body deep into the pool even as sheets of water cascaded up and over in his wake.

Enjoy, Pey.

The mild expression she wore melted into a concerned frown as Andy started sprinting towards the edge of the pool. Then concerned deepened into alarm as she realized just what the tall trainee meant to do. "Don't you-!"

The rest was drowned out by his war cry, then the tidal wave of water that drenched her about a second and a half later.

Peyton coughed, wiping water from her eyes before turning a sharp stare down into the depths of the pool and the young man still curled near the bottom. Oh, it was on now. Warrick gave an amused rumble as his partner swam back towards the side of the pool, then waited there for Andy to surface again.

When he did, he'd receive much the same treatment as Pey had just endured by his hands. A small tidal wave, produced by the push of a small hand through the water in the direction of his face. Then, before he had a chance to recover, she'd kick off from the wall, more or less tackling him in the water to force his head back under briefly.

Peyton's protest/warning had only served to egg Andy on, honestly. He hit the bottom of the pool with one hand before twisting to push off it and rocket to the surface. Andy shot half out of the water before sinking back down, laughing his fool head off.

At least, he was laughing when Pey sent a wall of water into his face, choking him a bit. Retaliation was sort of expected though, so he managed to get a few non-spluttery breaths before the tiny girl launched at him and sent him back under the roiling water.

Andy! Aaaandy no! REX GET HER!!! GRRRR While using his long-limbs to push-pull at Peyton so he could surface, the rangy blond gave his partner quick talking to, settling him down neatly. Peyton was a friend, but sometimes Rex was over protective.

"Ahaha, oh man. That was a good one." Without much effort he was able to tread water and wipe water and his bangs out of his eyes. "You shoulda seen your face, Peyton. It was amazing." He teased, expression one of pleasure and also merriment. A girl that wouldn't get pissed and run out of the pool after a magnificent cannonball, but would actually fight back? He was sold.

She was still hanging on when he did manage to break the surface again, though it wasn't like sh had much weight to throw around. With his long legs, she didn't doubt he could have kept them both afloat for hours. It wouldn't even take much effort, just lazy kicks. "Oh I'm sure," she conceded, pushing her bangs back out of her face.

After a moment her grip loosened, and she slid around his side until she was treading water in front of him, expression a blend irritation losing to amusement. That grin didn't help matters either. The dumb guy was thoroughly pleased with himself. It made keeping a straight face next to impossible. Which was, possibly, even more annoying. A vicious cycle to be sure.

"Got that all out of your system now?" Pale brows rose questioningly, head cocking to the side. "Cause I can just keep dunking you til you pass out. I mean it's not like it's hard." The tone was exaggerated impatient. The words were all challenge.

Peyton might have been stronger, faster, but the water served as something of an equalizer between them. With nothing to hold onto, there was only so much force the smaller girl had to throw around. She was light, she was dainty, and Andy could probably toss her around with very little effort if he wanted to.

It was like she weighed nothing, with the buoyancy of the water helping hold her up. Andy barely noticed she'd clung to him until he'd gotten his eyes cleared, but he found himself sort of missing the contact when it stopped. There was, for all the bad-assery inherent in her tiny body, a wet girl in a bikini...swimming with him. He was only human. Her irritation and annoyance didn't really help either, for some reason he found it cute. Maybe 'cause he could tell she didn't meaaan it.

"Weeeelll..." Surely she knew what was coming, right? "Nope." Andy's grin became truly s**t-eating, wide as the day is long and full of trouble. He reached for Peyton with his arms and tried using his legs to hook one of hers, so he could pull - or push - her back under. Threats be damned.

Oh yes, she'd known what was coming. Well, she'd had an idea, a notion. Maybe not exactly what Andy chose to come at her with, but certainly something. The s**t-eating grin was met with a confident smirk, the twitch of her nose, making the skin wrinkle slightly over the bridge of it.

Then he was reaching for her, all long arms and longer legs. She tried to jerk back and away, but she didn't have the same sort of speed in the water as she did on land, and he managed to catch a thin wrist before she could yank it back quick enough. It was all too easy for him to reel her in at that point, despite her struggles, the protesting squeal.

There was time enough to take a breath, then she was being dunked.

<You're baiting him.> The demon sounded amused, though chiding.

Your point?

<Do you think that wise? >

It's just a little fun, War. And considering how things had been going lately, a little fun was well needed. Warrick made a vaguely disapproving noise, but the blonde mostly ignored it.

The conversation had only taken a couple of seconds, then the girl was reaching for Andy's sides, fingertips poking and prodding at the young man's ribs as she kicked for the surface again.

Peyton was trapped! Andy drew the petite woman in, sure of his victory, only to find that she was trickier in the water than out of it. She fought so dirty! It was beautiful, it really was. The rangy blond would have appreciated this fact more if he were not presently struggling to tread water whilst being tickled.

Because damn but he was ticklish; Peyton would be released as Andy tried lunge-swimming away from her questing fingers. "Truce! Truuuce!" He sputtered, flailing around like the derpy teenager his brain said he was.

Andy never had been able to deal with being tickled for long.

She was laughing as she broke the surface, head shaking to clear water and wer bangs from her eyes before they fell on the retreating trainee. Bright and just a little evil. "Truce? That's not something our division is really known for." shevswam after him, closing what little distance he'd managed to place between them unless he continued to retreat.

It had been a long week. Hell, it had been a long month. A long year. It seemed like every time things started to settle down a new disaster was there, just waiting. Personal or island wide, they stacked, one after another, until it felt like it was a struggle just to draw a full breath. As if the weight of it all might crush her if she didn't keep moving forward. Worry, anger, exhaustion, anxiety. She just kept running from every awful emotion, never quite dealing with things as she should be.

She was still running. Head long into distraction. Her job as a trainer, her own personal training, and, at the moment, towards a cute blonde at the other end of the pool. If you never stopped, you never had to think to hard.

Andy backed away a little bit at first, but mostly just continued to tread water with his arms lazily moving water at his sides. "Yeah, but I'm new...give a guy a break?" He gave her his most ingratiating, charming smile - or what he considered to be that - whlie bobbing in the water. The blond watched as Peyton swam closer and closer, his expression going from joking and goofy to smiling but also somewhat expectant.

Peyton was an attractive gal who happened to be wearing a little black bikini while being totally wet. He couldn't help a little hormone-fueled fantasy, now could he? Before he'd thought about it much, Andy swam to meet the petite woman, mouth quirked. "I'm going to pay for dunking you later, aren't I?" His voice was low, almost amused sounding...but not the least bit upset by the prospect.

At all.

Her brows twitched when he stopped retreating, and a lazy smile followed his question. "Sorry, I don't do that." Break, more like. She saw it in his face, that moment when fun and games turned into something else entirely. The darkening pale eyes, and the subtle twitch of lips from goofy grin to hopeful expectation. It brought along with it a brief moment of clarity, where Warrick's disapproval and her own common sense softened delicate features from mischievous to thoughtful.

What was she doing? He wasn't just some random handsome face she only had to see every so often. He was her friend's little brother. He was her trainee, her responsibility.

Andy started towards her, and the moment ended with that subtle quirk of his lips. Her hand came forward, fingertips against his upper chest to maintain those last few inches of space.

"Dearly." It came out soft, almost husky, and lavender eyes dipped from baby blues, down to his mouth. Bad idea. Her own thought this time. She should have been pushing away, climbing out of the pool to grab her towel. Slamming this door shut before it had any chance to crack open. She should have done a lot of things. Instead she stayed where she was, hand still resting lightly on his chest.

It was a bad idea, she was his sempai. She was also his brother's friend and had given him a lot of attention. Flirty attention. Andrew knew the difference between someone flirting defensively and actually meaning it (or thought he did) and Peyton had flirted. Was flirting.

Peyton's hand against his chest stopped him, a gentle but firm barrier that said clearly 'whoah there'. He respected the boundary she'd placed between them, but his expression didn't change. Much.

Until she spoke and did the gaze-flick to his mouth. Inwardly Andy puffed up a bit because he really was a stupid child and being found attractive would make anyone feel good. He put one hand over hers and rubbed his thumb across her knuckles lightly, leaning his head in part way as though going for a kiss, expression earnest and still hopeful.

But he would leave that last little bit of distance to her to cover, if she wanted to. It was up to her.
