[PRP] Day of Training

As dawn arrived, a pair of light blue eyes slowly open, blinking out the sleepiness before groggily looking about. He could make out a couple silhouettes in the darkness. He observed them quietly, watching how their chests fluttered up and down, rising and falling as they breathed slowly in their sleep. His fellow herd mates were fast asleep and would probably remain so for a few more hours – Tydus was used to waking up before the majority of the members anyway. The sky was still dark and grey, and the tired stallion remained laying down quietly for a few more minutes, enjoying how peaceful they all were in their slumber. When it was time to get up and move on, he weaved through them silently, moving over to his own personal stash of knick-knacks and belongings. Donning his armor, he took a glimpse of himself in a mirror shard he possessed and admired the intricacies of the metal, feeling proud of the image before him. A true warrior!

With his armor on and his body full awake, the stallion was finally prepared for the day he had planned. The sun had barely risen when the stallion was up and fully awake, trotting across the land. Leaving the small herd led by his sister Athena, Tydus traveled a mile or two away from them as to not disturb any of the late sleepers for today was the stallion’s standard day of training – of pushing himself to his limit and seeing how far he could get. Finding a small meadow with overgrown grass and the occasional tree scattered about, the male set forth in his routine. Hooves pounding against the ground, he threw his body against the tree shoulder first, grunting as he collided into it. His black and worn down armor took the brunt of the blow though a wave of shock still went through him, leaving his knees feeling tingly. He repeated the process over and over, engraving notches into the tree that only carved themselves deeper in as he continually tackled it, creating a clear mark of his efforts.

Moving on to various other exercises, he worked on his stamina and strength, attempting various strenuous activities such as seeing how far he could push a boulder or how long he could run at full speed. He felt every muscle of his body ache from the activities and beg him for rest but he kept on tirelessly. As the day passed on and it started to reach noon, Tydus mentally noted that only a little longer and he would be done; he could feel his body be coated with sweat as the sun reached its highest point. Despite this, he was relentless and determined, persistent to keep going and push his body to its limit.

"....Just a little bit longerrrrr." A soft voice muttered as the early morning sun set upon her eyes. She slowly opened her amber eyes, quickly shutting them in a flurry upon contact with sunlight. With more effort she opened her eyes, blinking several times to erase away the early-morning haze from her vision. The sun was still low in the sky, a dim glow hitting the surrounding lands. Hypatia was not typically the first to rise, and had become accustomed to the head-count being a few members short of a full roster. She welcomed the early risers and watched them set upon their days. Soon the sun was high in the sky, beating upon the lands. It was time for meditation and training.

Slipping on her shin guards, she noticed her brother's belongings were gone. Noticing no sign of him in the immediate vicinity, she searched for more signs of his whereabouts, coming upon hoof marks left behind. She tapped the soil with her front foot, leaving a massive hoof print in it's wake, with a smirk she set off to find him and see what sort of trouble she was sure he'd get himself into. With a slow, quiet trot, she followed the hoof prints, until reaching a distance where the rumble of a gallop wouldn't disturb the herd. Tossing her mane, she could feel her muscles pumping with every stride. The feeling she experienced couldn't be duplicated.

Finally coming upon the meadow, she slowed her pace, as to not spook her brother. "Ho, Tydus!" She said with sort of bellow and a smirk. "Perhaps you've trained enough for the day?" She said in a jesting tone. "I wouldn't want you to be tired when it comes time for herd duties, brother~"

For the sibling that lead the small, yet growing, herd of powerful warriors, Athena hadn't returned to the rest of them the night prior. No, she had taken her usual liberties to scouting out the areas around them, taking notes, as well as finding any unsuspecting criminals who may be lurking in the shadows, or stalking their party. It was a custom of hers she was unable to let down, the responsibility too great for the proud mare to allow any harm befall her team during their more weakened moments. Many cowards would take the change to try and jump them while they rested, or slept, and she would not stand for that.

Heavy hooves trotted briskly, kicking up into a canter as she made her way back to her group, braid fluttering and waving in the wind behind her, armor clinking with her powerful strides. She came upon the cluster just over the small hill that housed the herd just beyond, tucked in the safety of a family of trees surrounding. Her sharp eyes made a quick scan of the present members, Oranbas naturally giving a nod of acknowledgement to her, as well as a means of signaling that all was well. Noting the lack of her siblings gear, she instantly began to scent the air as she slowed to a trot. They were up and probably doing their duties... good.

She didn't stop by the rest of the members who were in preparation or straightening out their wares, no she trotted past them with a passing, "We leave tomorrow, finish up." Following the scent of bother her siblings, the hardened mare kept alert to any sounds or perfumes that may be cause for concern. But so far... things were rather peaceful.

It wasn't long til she found the pair, slowing to a walk, though it still made her approach quick with how long her gait was. Head held high and proud, brows naturally furrowed in that stoney expression she always wore, Athena gave a firm snort in greeting to her brother and sister once close enough. But nothing more. They each earned a quick once over, before being more thoroughly looked over, making sure nothing was awry.

Tydus, so concentrated on his training, failed to notice the mare approaching. Upon hearing the feminine voice, he could feel his body freeze up, attempting to assess if it was any danger. The scent was familiar, thankfully, so halting his training efforts, Tydus turned around to inspect the visitor. He was mildly surprised to see it was one of his sisters; he was sure he was going to be able to finish up his morning activities before he would be sought out by any of the herd members. Guess I lost track of time, he thought to himself. “"Sec," he said, making a small grunt to acknowledge her.

He quickly finished up his last exercise. Evening his breathing, he redirected his attention to her and nodded his head as a greeting. "Ho, 'Tia. Did not think you would be looking around so soon. You seemed so tuckered out. The lil' princess likes her rest and relaxation and all," he replied to her, his lip curling into a coy smile, amused by his own teasing. Getting more serious, he allowed his features to become more stoic. "There is never enough training, however. There is always room for improvement. You really ought to come train with me in the morning sometimes. Helps build character and all. Plus, it gives you time to think about what you accomplished afterwards," he added in, pausing to reflect on his morning and recent training sessions. He had dedicated so much time to trying to develop himself and push his body to his limits, but he still wondered if he was up to par. He knew he was nowhere near Athena when it came to skill; she was like some sort of prodigy that he could only aspire to be emulate one day.

And as if right on cue, he caught another familiar scent that could only belong to his other sister. He turned his head to see Athena appear, her posture and overall appearance exuberating strength. He could not help but well up with pride at the sight of his eldest sister – she was an example of a true leader – the role came so natural to her. In an effort to somehow impress her, he did his best to appear firm and proud like she; despite feeling every part of his body ache, he straightened himself up, stiffening his muscles and standing as tall as he could be looking as warrior like as possible. He made a brisk nod in response to hers. "Nice of you to join us, Athena," he said quietly, his tone taking a more serious tone than earlier. He could feel her inspecting the pair and gulped slightly, trying to not let his nerves be apparent.

Hypatia scoffed, choking back the urge to continue teasing him further. "I'll have you know, I train plenty, under the cover of moon and stars." She preferred the cover of darkness, practicing the art of stealth, using the celestial map provided by nature to find her way about. Her usefulness to the herd didn't come from exceedingly stand-out combat skills, rather for her logistical eye. A true strategist. "Anyways," she continued, "You know you must not linger during this sessions, we do have priorities y'kn-"

Hypatia stopped in her tracks at the sight of her sister. I need to touch up my senses. She noted, having missed her sister's approach. She couldn't help but notice how much her sister had grown to look like mother, with her father's ability to inspire courage with her mere presence. "Indeed, sister. Good day." She bowed her head in respect, continuing in a firmer tone, "How went your scouting? Anything of interest?" She always dreaded the answer to that question, knowing full well it could mean the beginning of a new conflict for the herd.
