Ever since he'd grown, Riley couldn't truly tell if life was better or worse. It was certainly very different. He was able to do more for himself, and, at the least, that was a welcome change. While he still had plenty of what his brother called his 'wuss factor,' he could go to town without being nervous being there alone. Today, he was going to take advantage of this new freedom.
There was a small festival going on; a celebration of the arts. Lining the streets were booths and stages showing off art skills. There were paintings of different mediums, musical instruments, sculptures, dancers, jugglers, singers, and so much more.
It was the dancing that caught his eye. There were even different kinds of dancers around! Tap dancers and ballet dancers and street dancers among others... They were all unique, but had one thing in common. Self-control. It was like watching martial arts, but with a different message. Each figure showing off their physical prowess was captivating, and he couldn't help pausing to watch for a while.

Kachina had just recently returned home, having been traveling around with a ballet company. She was glad to be back, having missed all of her family while she was gone. The young ballet dancer didn't plan to leave again for anytime soon, having missed more people added to their family. She had been a Butterfree when Eilam and then Lucy were changed, then she was changed into a child soon after. That was when she took to dancing and she went to learn to be the best she could be. Now she was a teen and had become quite the dancer. She was on the side of one of the stages in the city, having been asked to dance at the festival by her old teacher. She took her black hair with purple streaks, twisting it up in her special bun. Once that was done, she stood on her tiptoes, stretching her legs as she waited to be called. Then when she was called, she walked on to the stage. She waited for the music to start, then she began to dance across the stage, graceful as ever.

Walking over to the next stage, Riley paused in awe. Just standing there to wait for the music, the butterfree woman looked like a sculpture. Then she moved, and turned into fluid in motion. It was one of the most wonderful things he's ever seen.

Kachina continued her dancing, a small pirouette done as she stretched up her hands and spun. Then she ended by leaping into the air and landing on her tip toes for one more extended spin. The music stopped and she turned to face the crowd, hearing the clapping. She curtsied towards the crowd, before she got off stage, a little winded. She grabbed the water from her bottle she had in her bag, then wiped her face. " That was as fun as I expected,"she smiled to herself.

When the dance ended, Riley clapped along with the rest of the crowd. Delighted, he turned to head off to the next show. However, as he reached the end of the stage, he saw the butterfree tidying up. With a small smile, he approached the dancer. "That was wonderful," he congratulated softly.

Kachina heard a voice and saw a guy standing there, she smiled softly to him. She wondered if he was someone who liked dancing or had just been passing by. " Thank you, I appreciate your kind words. I have wanted to be a dancer since I was a Butterfree. Are you a dancer yourself or were just watching?"she asked.

When questioned, Riley hesitated. To be able to move and dance like that? It looked amazing and fun! But... Smirking lightly, he shook his head. "I was.. just watching." He looked down at the ground. His family mocked him enough as it was. He didn't need to give them more reasons to isolate him! "I just.. wanted to let you know. ...Though, I bet you get compliments on your dancing all the time."

Kachina tilted her head to the side, she noticed how he seemed to hesitate. She wondered if maybe he wanted to and was just too afraid or embarrassed. She knew guys were not quick to sign up for ballet because they thought others would laugh or think they were gay. She smiled when he finally spoke, she thought it was nice of him to say. " I do hear it, but it makes me happy to hear anyway. Thank you very much, I am glad you enjoyed it. And if you ever change your mind about dancing, I would be glad to teach you or help you,"she explained.

Riley gave her a small smile, glad to hear that he wasn't bothering her by coming over. The offer to work with him made his cheeks heat up slightly. He looked down at the ground, at his hands, behind him, at the stage, at his feet, at someone walking by, back to his feet, and then to the dancer. "Maybe... a few small lessons? ...I don't want to take up too much of your time."

Kachina watched the way his cheeks brightened, wondering if the thought of learning to dance made him nervous. That suspicion seemed to be confirmed as his eyes went all over the place, yep he was definitely not sure about her teaching offer. Maybe he didn't want to learn, it was possible that she had read him wrong. She was usually pretty good at it, but everyone made mistakes. When he finally turned back to her and seemed to concede to a few lessons, she broke into a bright smile. " Trust me, you would not be taking up my time that much. Yes, I have things to do for my family, but there are lots of us in the house. We have each other's back and they are supportive of us having a life outside the house. I just recently got back home actually. So I would be glad to teach you to dance,"she assured.

Despite how nervous he felt, Riley was overjoyed. Surely learning to move like that would help him out! Her smile was immensely reassuring. As long as he didn't make the lessons obvious around his family, perhaps he would be okay!
"Thank you! H-how much will it be? Where will we meet? Do I need to buy anything special?" Now that the hesitation was out of the way, his excitement was blossoming.

Kachina could see how excited he was getting, so her instinct had been right after all. She waited for it to all sink in, to let him decide if he really wanted to take some dance lessons. When he asked her some questions, she let out a gentle laugh, he certainly did want to cover everything. She held up her hands, before she cleared her throat to answer. " You do not have to pay me anything, the lessons are free of charge. As for the where, there is a studio where I learned, my teacher said I could go there anytime I wanted. She gave me my own room. It is over by the park. You are going to want to get a leotard, if you can,"she replied.

Riley's eyes widened. Free of charge?! He thanked her profusely for being so generous. Then he noted down where to be, when to be there, and what he would need. He tucked the notes deep into his pocket, and headed off with more thanks to the butterfree.

A couple days later, Riley hugged his pack tightly to his chest as he walked to the studio. Inside the pack was a large bottle of water, a couple apples, an array of fasteners in case he needed to secure his hair more, and the leotard. ...Shopping for the leotard had been interesting, to say the least. Such form-fitting clothing was not usually his style. His normal clothes fit, but he was hidden under a few layers of cloth. The leotard seemed to be made of those tights that Thomas' mother wore!
When he reached the studio, he took a deep breath and knocked on the door.

Kachina had spent the next couple of days preparing everything she needed to for the lesson. She was also helping out at home, considering her trainer was currently stuck in a wheelchair. That morning, she got into her practice outfit and grabbed some things she might need. Then she had headed to the studio and her own room inside of it. She set up the room and was just about ready when she heard the knock on the door. " Come on in, Riley,"she called out.

Hearing the invitation, Riley took another deep breath. She was actually there! Despite his belief in her promise, there was always that nagging concern that she wouldn't be there when he showed up. After all, he was usually just a bother to everyone... but she was there! "Hi, Kachina," he greeted, still clutching the pack tightly.
