After receiving their assignment for today's class, Cael took his time looking over the specific colors the professor had provided for them to choose from. In the end, it wasn't hard to make a decision, as he was naturally drawn to softer, more muted or pastel-like tones. Blues had been some of his favorites since childhood, along with teal. And since he'd befriended and fallen in love with Lyra, purples had also become some of his favorite tones. Sentimental reasoning, perhaps, but that was the way his mind worked. He was getting better at working with other colors as well, but tended to stray back into his old comfort zone as soon as he was given the opportunity.

It took him a good while to find the exact shades he wanted to use, but finally he decided he was satisfied with his palette. There was a brief moment of hesitation before he got up, however, as if the professor were to ask them why they chose their specific colors, he was afraid he'd make himself the laughing stock of the class. Hopefully he won't, Cael finally thought to himself as he stood up to return his palette.

Liam made a small face at the assignment, but only a small one. He'd accepted when he joined the class that there would be multiple art disciplines taught, not just the one he was specifically interested in. He got in plenty of practice with glass in his free time since he didn't like having empty hands and a head full of thoughts, so he went along with all the other things that came up in class. Drawing wasn't his strongest area, but he could manage to make something. He pulled a mirror out of his bag. It was a first attempt, and he'd been thinking about asking Professor Meiann for advice on the best way to silver the glass. Still, it was reflective enough for his purposes. He pulled out a sketch book, filled mostly with sketches of ideas for glass or jewelry projects, flipped to a clean page, and got out a pencil. He wasn't much good at coloring, having little patience for hunting down this pencil or that to get shades exact, but he could do enough shading with the pencil that it should be fine. Looking into his mirror, he started tracing the contours of his face, along with a bit of his shoulders and sweater. He added shading to his sweater, hair, and colored in his eye so it stood out a bit more. He added a bit of shadow and his freckles with lighter strokes. He thought about trying to do really light strokes on his skin as well, but decided it might confuse what he'd already done. He carefully pulled the drawing out of his book, put away the book and pencil, then went over to turn the drawing in to Professor Meiann. Assignment finished, he went back to his desk to grab his bag, carefully rewrapped his mirror, and waited for the professor to get a free moment so he could ask questions about glass.

Nicholas enjoyed this particular assignment. He may not be an avid animal-lover, but he did enjoy flexing his creativity and design. While he may paint the creature later, he wanted to plan and design it in pen; he often started ideas with pen-scribbled pieces of paper. He drew the tentacles first, finding them an always-interesting addition to mythical creatures. He sucked on the tip of his pen absent-mindedly as he considered the rest of the creature. With a shudder he decided what the torso of the creature would be, although he was slightly upset by his own decision. He wanted to make it creepy and nothing was more frightening to him than a bird, so he hastily completed the creature with mild self-disgust. He stared at the paper with a frown. It looked alright, but there was something unfinished about it. Realising what was missing, he added some ram horns to the monster; horns were always a winner when it came to scary creatures, right? With the slightest hint of a smile, Nicholas handed in his work. Well, it was certainly different, at the very least.

Name: Nicholas Final Score: Roleplay Response: During the kerning test, Nicholas didn't bother to stop his frown as it crept over his face. He always knew he was better at messy concept design than actual spacing. When he was first told the purpose of the test and what it would contain, he grumbled something about 'not really art' before getting to work. He was surprised at himself when he managed to get through most of the kerning relatively well, noticing he always performed better on the more blocky fonts - often getting 100 on those. Feeling surprised but satisfied with his efforts, he handed in his results to the teacher with an air of smugness despite not even scoring 90%.

Name: Abrus Final Score: Roleplay Response: Abrus looked over the requirements. He knew about art, i mean just look at how he was dressed. With a confident smirk Abrus entered the class and turned in his assignment. Abrus left, he was sure he was an excellent art critique.

Name: Beryl Final Score: Roleplay Response: Beryl walked into class, she sat down in one of the seats that were in the back, she listened to the teacher talking about how they were having a test, and what the test was on. Beryl was least to say unhappy to hear it was the art of kerning, she felt she wasn't very good at this as her claws made it difficult to keep things spaced, and sometimes the paper if they used paper, would stick to her fur. Beryl got ready to take her test looking it over and carefully putting the letters as spaced and neat as she could get them, she was surprised to see she was doing rather well, sometimes she was not sure how to space the letters, and would make a guess at it, this was done to most of the big words she felt had not room to space the letters with. Beryl looked down at her score, she was mighty proud of what she did, and she walked up and turned her score into the teacher.

Name: Liam Final Score: Roleplay Response: Liam examined the test in front of him. Okay, this could kind of be considered an exercise in precision. That was something he needed with glass, since he usually only had one shot to get something right. He did his best with the kerning, trying to eyeball it like he would if he was making a pulled glass figurine. His end score wasn't that bad, but as he went to turn in his assignment he decided he needed more practice.

Name: Kansuke Final Score: Roleplay Response: Kansuke greatly enjoyed the test, and quite pleased with the results. They were actually surprised at how difficult it was to line things up exactly right. It was something he might have to practice in his spare time, both to improve and because it had been kinda fun!
