Talia looked down at her phone rather sneakily. She was poised in the library, books folded over her lap and she had had a moment of weakness. She checked her horoscope like a fiend, just as she had before, but now she was supposed to be studying, and she wasn't. Oh well, not like anyone was going to call the cops on her. She would feel guilty and maybe do worst on the test, but at least she would feel astronomically balanced.
Her horoscope for the day was ironic at best. She made a face at it as she read through the black text on her screen:
Your mind may seem rather cloudy today, Aries, but don't let this hinder you. In fact, you can use this dreamy feeling to your advantage. Try to bring more magic into your life. The more you accept your bizarre feelings and ideas, the more things will fall into place. Don't think that everything in life has to be completely rational.
Dreamy feeling was right if the horoscope was referring to the airy feeling her head had after working on her grad school applications for so long. It seemed like she was in one frying pan and moving to an even smaller one. Engineering as her major in only four years was already hard enough; adding grad school was killer.
More magic made her both give a little huff of incredulity and make her think twice. Did it mean she needed to get back into her powered life and risk all that time wasting? Maybe the stars were trying to be funny- get more magic in your life! As if you don't have enough of that already!
Not everything had to be complete and rational ... the senshi life was certainly far from rational. The more her eyes scanned over the horoscope, the more she resolved to fulfill it. Clearly it was telling her that to bring balance into her life, she needed to fight for the white moon again.
It was always so strange to Talia how she could separate her life almost completely from her powered self. She would go months without powering up once, as though it wasn't even a part of her anymore. Then all of a sudden the thrill of fighting would come back to her, and she'd resolve to protect the streets of Destiny City. It wouldn't take big decisions to guide her way either. Sometimes it was just because of a horoscope. Sometimes it was the way people talked to each other in the halls of the campus buildings. Sometimes it was the way Damon looked at his fluffy dog; she wanted to protect all of those tiny moments. She wanted Destiny City to stay the way people remembered it.
A chill ran down her spine as she remembered the future she had witnessed. The negaverse corruption, the way she had been on the run for her life nearly constantly. She didn't want that. She would fight.
Or as the horoscope put it, she would "try to bring more magic into her life."
