Whether or not traveling to space was like teleporting Polaris would not know. But in a brief moment the heat of the summer evening and beautiful serenity of the gardens was left behind, a mere memory as they were met with the harsh cold of the star Polaris at night.
It was impossible to miss the snow, it stretched around them in every direction, a solid layer of multiple inches. And while it wasn't currently snowing, the wind that shifted through the mountains caused loose flakes to break from the ground, shifting about their feet with a barely audible howl.
Looking further away a forest could be seen, trees seemingly encased and slumbering under a glittering coat of ice. And in the other direction mountains rose high into the night sky, a dark city of metal glimmering along with the ice and snow under the starlight.
She gave him a moment to acclimate himself, focusing her attention instead on shifting into her Princess form. The delicate and billowing dress was hardly a good defense against the cold but it still provided better coverage from the elements then her fuku. But that was not the only reason she had opted for the other form. It was for protection. Not from Benitoite.. but for him.
She had never brought an officer of Chaos to the star Polaris, not in this lifetime nor could she remember if she'd ever done such a thing in the past. It was quite possible that the only time Chaos had ever stepped foot on Polaris.. was when it was destroying it over 1000 years ago. It seemed like a taboo. The very idea of inviting Chaos.. of putting her own star in danger. Would it react to him in some way? Try to reject him or attack? She had shifted so that she could better listen to and feel her homeworld, as if frightened it would be screaming out at her. Lashing out. But now that she had shifted her worries began to slowly fade. She didn't feel anything. Well anything other than cold.
Her hands, now no longer covered with gloves, released his hand finally, watching the General tentatively.
"Welcome to the North Star. To Polaris."
"We can speak freely here, no one from your side can follow. The only people who can access this place are myself and my knights. And if one of them arrives to their wonder I'll be able to feel it." Would she be able to hide him if that occurred? It was highly unlikely it would, but worst case scenario they could retreat back to Earth.
A soft shiver ran up her spine, realizing quite quickly that she did not have the cloak she usually traveled with. Oh well. They could get out of the wind at least. A hand lifted to motion towards the nearby city. "Shall we find someplace comfortable to continue our conversation?"
At one point, early in her life as a senshi, Polaris had labelled Castor a traitor for falling in love with someone on the other side. She had been so certain that such franternization could be nothing other than traitorous.. that he must be giving in to Chaos and being stupid. But oh how it seemed the tides had turned. To think that she, the ever judgemental and even sort of harsh Polaris was talking to someone from the other side. Had brought him up here.. to such a sacred and special place. The world was such a complicated place.
In her head she was doing the math however. Piecing together all the things he had said. She had thought in the past that purification was one of their best weapons against the Negaverse. But it seemed.. it seemed she might have found an even more powerful weapon. An agent on the inside. One who knew everything about their going's on. And though she doubted he'd give her any grand secrets to destroy the groups.. that didn't matter.. because there was perhaps another option available after all this time. He was a person on the inside who actually wanted to change the Negaverse. Was it possible.. could he do it? As just one person. Could they maybe.. possibly change the Negaverse in such a way that the two groups could conicide together, to compromise and come to peace?
It had been a thought that was thrown out at senshi meetings in the past but she had always scoffed at it. Impossible, right? Perhaps not so much as she thought..
For the most part she was saving their conversation until they made it to shelter. But as they finally touched the streets of the city, the buildings towering silently and darkly up above them, she finally spoke. Her words soft. "You know that you might be leading yourself to the same fate you spoke of don't you? That if they catch on to what you're doing..."

As much as he loved his plants and they needed the summer, and all that it brought with it, he loved the winter. The simple, pure, perfection of snow covering everything. The absolute still silence and the chill hair which while harsh was easier to breath. Winter was his favored season and their arrival was harsh, so very different from the summer heat they'd just been in, and while it took moments to get over the travel here, he was soon looking about with wide slate eyes.
The forest in the distance, with glittering snow covered trees, the mountains behind them he saw as he twisted and turned round in place. This was something which didn't seem like anything alien and yet he knew he wasn't on Earth any longer. It didn't seem alien to him, not like he'd been expecting, although what he'd been expecting he couldn't exactly say either.
At her words he turned back and found himself looking at the princess and he nodded. "it is lovely here." Lovely and peaceful. Looking over the dress she wore he reached up with his gloved hands and undid the ivy clasps of his uniform. As his cape came off he took hold of it and moved to drape it about the princess shoulders. "You'll need it more than me." he had three layers, without the cape, he would be warmer than her.Why would she have a dress when this was her planet? Something so cold. It made no sense but he supposed it didn't need to, not really.
"Someplace comfortable, and out of the wind, would be best especially for you." That clothing did not look suited for this weather, not that his did either, but the heels she wore as well...she'd catch a cold like this.
"I know, trust me I'm well aware of it. I have never feared death, I've courted it since joining this war. A dance with a partner that I leave the dance floor without. I know one night I may leave hand in hand with him and travel beyond the dance which is life. I've long accepted it. It is not that which troubles me...although my death does bring me nightmares...I've woken in tears and shaking from them." Unable to return to sleep he'd walk the his house, silent as he could. he'd even leave the house for late night walks to calm him jangled nerves. "I know better now and I know the future - I know the goal. I can start earlier, I have started earlier, in trying to stop it." His feet tapped on the city street as he looked about at the empty buildings and wondered. What people had lived here once? How many? Could people ever again live here? And if so how would that start? Would people from Earth need to come here or could people come from nothing...or perhaps from magic? From her magic? All thoughts that ran through his mind for several moments before he continued speaking.
"In the future I passed on information to Valhalla, I've spoken to him in recent times about the future. I was a General King then and privy to information, people who were to be taken in, killed or questioned. I would give him files on some of them - not everyone. I couldn't save everyone...the leak would have been picked up sooner." He had played it smart, but not smart enough, in the future. He had seen his mistakes and he was sure he could side step them this time, but what other mistakes could or would he make instead?
"There is no such information to pass now, we have not won, but I can give whatever information I have. I know, for a fact, we've won the war everywhere else...world wide. This is the only place we've not won. To go visit another country or anywhere outside of here and power up - for you...would be a death sentence. They'd sense you and kill you. They don't bother with corruption - they have no need for more officers." They'd won, why would they need more people? "That is something you're side should know - don't power up outside of Destiny City..ever." It would not be a good or safe idea. He didn't know if the other side knew this, if they knew how badly they were doing and had done, but it was worth telling this senshi turned princess. "I don't know everything, I don't know if anyone does, but what I know I'm willing to share in the hopes that the future can be prevented." Who'd have thought he'd be looking to work with, and help, the other side so openly and to offer so much and with no price for the information.

Often when someone visited the star of Polaris their first reaction was to the cold. So when his first words were not of the elements and his attention turned towards taking in the sights, with seeming interest, Polaris felt a swelling of pride in her chest. And when finally he spoke his appreciation of her star was taken in, the delight on her face clearly evident.
It was funny... how delicately they treated her. While she clearly expected it by now from both Niflhel and Snowball, the offering from Benitoite was unexpected. But as his cape found it's way around her shoulder's she did not fight it, instead offering him a thankful smile. It was likely that they were all just gentlemen, and that was not a trait she'd look down on. No, it was something she cherished and hoped to one day help foster in her work with children. But to think that there could be gentlemen hiding in the Negaverse, that was also unexpected.
"Thank you. I usually have a cape that I bring along with me when I come here." Alas, it was at home, delicately and safely tucked away in her closet. "Capes held great ceremonial signifigance here in the past." Why she added the bit of information was uncertain, perhaps a simple desire to offer him information even if it was pointless and useless.
As she led the way towards, and then through the city streets Polaris listened silently. It was something she had noticed in the past, but today especially, she was beginning to realize just how much she enjoyed to hear him talk. His words, elegant and eloquently put together. It often reminded her of poetry or the books she used to read in middle and highschool, back when she had time to read. As the conversation turned from emotion and resolve to actual information, she did her best to pay attention and file away the details. Trying to fill in the many blanks in her head regarding the future nightmares.
"I actually did not have the dreams at all." She admitted, with a tone that sounded almost.. frusterated. "So I only knew little tidbits. But even then.. I can see how much it's affected everyone else."
"I've always been cautious not to power up when outside the state." It was why she'd never done it during her year back in Alaska. Not even to try and travel to her star on those long nights when it seemed to stare down at her through the never ending night. "I mean I never knew for certain.. but it was always a worry I had. At least now I can pass along the information to others with certainty."
"You have probably saved a handful lives with that information alone." She regarded him with yet another thankful smile before stopping in front of one tall building. Two fingers extended, motioning for him to follow before she continued to lead the way up a short set of stairs and through a pair of tall wooden doors.
The doors creaked with age and wear, though in truth her star had survived better than many due to the cold and lack of humidity. As they entered they were greeted with the smell of dust and a room dimly lit only by the windows.
As Polaris fiddled with a large candle and matches, supplies she had brought and left during a previous visit, and before long the soft warm glow of candlelight added just a little more light. "I'm so sorry about the mess and.. disarray.. This place is so big it's hard to know where to start." Even with extra hands to help her the task was daunting.
The room they were in seemed to be a small library of some sort, or perhaps just a very large personal collection. But this wasn't their stop. Motioning again with her free hand she began to lead again towards a staircase.
The room above hardly needed a candle,a huge window leading out to a balcony on one wall and very obviously a very large telescope. Further investigation of the room would show more hints of the fact that the room and the building was an observatory. Books and scientific tools rest almost untouched by time on tables and shelves.
It was obvious that this place had been a little more cared for however, or at the very least used more recently. Settling the candle on a large table near the center of the room, she pulled out a few chairs, before musing lightly. "I'm sorry that I don't have tea or food to offer you. I feel like a terrible host." Perhaps next time. Wait... would there be a next time? Was this a simple one time thing, a fluke brought on by the weather and garden? Or did he.. did they intend to...
Her words were slow and careful, trying to find an answer to her question. "You mentioned earlier that flowers have a language.. Perhaps there is a sign.. a set of flowers I could leave in a specific place if I needed to talk to you again? Or the reverse."

The small bit of information on capes was filed away, even if it would never be significant to him or the Negaverse. It was a little thing, a cultural thing, and it was interesting and personal to her. There was a reason for her to tell him and he did appreciate it, knowing it was personal to her and this place she called home. "Generals get capes in the Negaverse." He countered after some moments of silence. He had earned it, it too had a value and meant something. It came with rank, with power - and with pain.
He knew the information he had given could save lives, it was why he'd told her. As a princess and someone who had been around a while he hoped her words could reach out far enough to get the information out there. "it's a wonder...we haven't won here yet and we're lacking in numbers here. It's a wonder we've never called in reinforcements from other cities, other countries..." It would make sense to do so, in order to crush the enemies last hold out. Yet they hadn't done so...they'd brought in foreign General Queen's but never a step beyond that. He had no idea why they'd not done so, as it would make sense, but considering who was behind this all and their hidden agenda he was sure there was some reason for this inaction.
"It is always something which could happen however." He said, thoughtfully, as he followed at her side. The staircase was taken slowly by him as he let her lead him up to some room. This room was interesting, very interesting, though it didn't hold his attention like the city had or the area they'd arrived in. But he was able to figure out what sort of building they were in with a fair amount of ease.
Laughing, one gloved hand up and covering his laughter, he took a seat and crossing his legs the best he could he smiled at her. "It's alright, I wouldn't expect such. Perhaps next time we meet, something arranged perhaps, I can set up tea and coffee." He offered with a rolling of his shoulders, or perhaps it was a shrug. The calm he spoke with wasn't like when he was fighting and in some battle. The next thing she said caught him off gaurd, obviously so, she wanted to perhaps meet with him again? He had just said the same though, but in different words.
"We could. That would work. Not many people know the meaning behind flowers so it would work as a good way to communicate." He could even get her a book on it as well and leave it for her perhaps, it wasn't something they were likely to use between them but she might find uses for it or even just interest. Yes, it was a good idea. "How about the bench, since we both know where it is and it is unlikely others will go there? Ivy for now will work, easy to find and set on the bench." it was also what decorated his uniform and as good as saying his name, as far as he was concerned.
"I'll teleport over to the bench each evening during my patrol. I'll make sure to do so." Perhaps several times in case he arrived before a vine of ivy showed up. Yes, it wouldn't be too taxing on him to teleport a few times and such a short distance.
"So...ask me what you want. I'll do my best to answer. I think it's best to get any questions out of the way first and go from there." To see what she wished to and needed to know and handle that first, so things weren't missed.((The language of flowers is called Floriography. It was used most often in victorian times when people were very careful, the upper classes, of what they said and did in public. How you held flowers, accepted them, offered them and which flowers. It all meant something. There was a lot to it. ::Nods:: )

In Destiny City it had always seemed like the Negaverse was greatly outnumbered by the sheer amount of senshi and knights. Even when the other Chaotic group, the Dark Mirrors, appeared it still hadn't done much to even the numbers. The thought that they were actually vastly outnumbered.. that at any moment an huge wave of Generals and perhaps even General Kings and Queens could suddenly appear on their doorstep.. It was frightening. It only pressed the fact that something needed to be done now, not later. Maybe the future everyone was hinting to was closer than they thought.
After Benitoite had settled down in a chair Polaris herself sat down, shifting softly to find a comfortable place despite fair sized wings. It wasn't nearly as cold here, chilly certainly, but being away from the direct wind had done a lot for the temperature. And as such, she slowly removed the cape from around her shoulders, folding it gently over twice before offering it back towards him.
"Well if you're supplying the drinks I can bring the snacks." She mused at his laughter. "I'm a pretty decent baker and cook."
One of her fingers tapped her cheek as she thought over his suggestion. It was a very good idea, subtle, but clear. And while it was a little more difficult for her to check the place it wouldn't be too hard. "That sounds like it would work well. If either of us needs to pass along anything we could leave a sprig of ivy. And that would be a symbol to meet the next night. Perhaps around midnight?" It wouldn't help in dire situations of course but.. there was only so much that they could do while still being careful. Besides.. hopefully they wouldn't need to get a hold of each other urgently. Concern touched her lips for a moment however and she added thoughtfully. "If there is a very pressing message that cannot wait perhaps two springs of ivy, and a vague note taped up under the bench?" Her hand had moved from her cheek by now, now simply and mindlessly brushing against the fur around her shoulder.
At the question of 'what' she wanted to know.. she was overwhelmed to say the least. Questions flooded her head at record speed, one thought after another cascading and interrupting each other. There were so many questions and clarifications, many of which he probably couldn't answer. It was hard narrowing it down, and when she spoke she seemed apologetic, as if already knowing she was probably going to overwhelm him eventually.
"I realize you might not be able to answer some of these. But.. One of the biggest questions I get asked is why you guys collect energy. Or what you do with it. Are you guys building towards something? Do you think that your side is that close to... bringing on the future that everyone saw?"
Her finger lifted, as she subconciously began to list, already losing herself to the intoxicating desire for knowledge and information. Poor Benitoite... "You mentioned youma before and creating them. I'd heard that youma generally regenerate and that's why I thought they were so prevalent. Do you guys actually.. make that many new ones? Are you.. encouraged to?"
Finally managing to slow the flow of words she added one last question, a more personal one. "Do you.. believe what they told you about the moon queen?"Sleet Tempest Snape I don't know how much he knows or is allowed to tell soo feel free to shut her down if need be. ;3

It might be warmer but it wasn't as warm as some might like. He liked winter, for various reasons, and the cold was something he was neutral on. He accepted it and handled it well enough, or at least as well as he could, so he was comfortable being out of the wind even if it was still chilly, enough to see his breath. When the cape was folded and offered back he settled it into his lap with a nodding of his head.
"Good, because I can't bake. I can cook however." Baking had never been his thing but cooking he'd learned over time, he'd had to. His mother had often been busy with work, the same for his father, and he would get home from school and make himself something to eat. It was one reason his mother had a healthy collection of cook books. But it seemed the princess was good with both and willing to provide food for some future meeting they could have; he liked that offer.
"That sounds like a good plan. I can check a few times an evening, teleporting is fairly easy within the city." A few teleports a night wouldn't kill him on energy, which was a good thing. It helped in battle as well really, how many senshi and knights forgot they could teleport or didn't know with how much ease they could do so? A shame for them perhaps.
"Yes, that would suffice. I doubt many come around the gardens and none would look under the bench for a note. That would work well I think, and be safe enough. So long as no names are used we should both be safe." If someone were to spy upon a meeting of theirs he would handle it on his end if he was able. If they decided to jump out and confront the two during a meeting...well Polaris would find out just what sort of killer he could be. He wasn't about to let his position be spread about or told to the higher ups, he'd protect his position with everything he had.
As the questions came he sat back, settled in, and listened before answering. He had already been organizing his answers as she asked her questions. So when it was time he was able to answer rather calmly.
"Energy...that one I only know some things about. Every members, even myself, have a quota we have to meet for energy brought in. Starseeds are mostly not permitted, though we are also encouraged, or it's been suggested, that we keep one on us at all times for our own benefit. The energy goes to the youma, as far as I'm aware. If it goes elsewhere, to Metalia perhaps, I'm unaware of such. But we, as officers, can also use the energy we collect to give ourselves a short boost of energy in a battle if need be. Starseeds are a bit different - more potent. They give an energy boost but also can help with minor injuries and wounds we sustain; hence why it's suggested we keep one on our person at all times. Youma feed off of starseeds as well - it's all that they need and what sustains them. They no longer can consume human food." So it was like a substitute...it was their version of food really.
"No...we don't set out to make them. Bazzite was an accident...something I didn't know would happen. But no, we don't make them nor are we encouraged to. I was punished, for a good while, for what I did." He didn't get into the details there, no need to unless asked, the answer was understandable with abit more information. "Once an officer is a youma they are loyal, more than an officer could be, however they cannot become human or even leave our realm for long periods of time. They have a purpose...but they aren't as useful as an officer...I suppose that's the best way to put it. I can go around as a civilian, talk to people and gather information, I can be out long hours on a patrol whilst a youma can do neither thing. There is a give and take and due to what is given and what is taken it's not something which is done. it's considered the loss of an officer. Youma must live in the Rift...even former General Queen Tanzanite had to live in the Rift. She could not live elsewhere...the half youma officers you see...cannot live outside of the Rift any longer. They are stuck powered up and cannot hide their form easily...a fake skin or look of sorts that doesn't last long." He stated hoping that she'd understand how against creating youma they were and why. it was a huge loss really. Would she ask about the Rift/ He could tell her about it, he doubted she had a clue about it - how many knew about it?
That last question was a hard one really...very hard. "I was told it was a case of the moon's princess falling for the earth's prince. That the moon's queen sought to control earth through her daughter and to have the people of earth serve those of the moon, as sort of servants. The people of earth didn't want this, obviously, and rose up against the moon, powerless as they were they did so anyway. They fought and made their way to the earths palace and got to the throne room only to find the moon's queen waiting for them. She unleashed her power on the people and...well her power didn't kill them all but turned many into youma - as her power shattered their starseeds. Do I believe this? I did then, way back when, but maybe parts of it here and there hold truth. I'm sure there was a conflict between the moon and the earth. I'm sure there was some love between the prince and princess. Beyond that I am unsure what is truth and what is not. I know that while you can't see the earth's palace and the surrounding area - I can. The Rift is just that...the palace and destroyed buildings and homes..a coliseum of sorts as well." What he didn't know was that the coliseum had been part of the knights training grounds...part of some knight academy and that if she mentioned it to some knights they might put it together.
"I'd ask you what you think happened, if you know anything, but I believe this is still the part of the conversation where I answer your questions. Mine will come later." As this would be a give and take, or so he hoped..Iris_virus Nothing says he can't tell all that he knows. So he'll tell what he knows or what he's been told.

As they settled the details for future covert conversation, including perhaps a mini tea-time, Polaris leaned back, her wings ruffling a little before finding a comfortable place despite her position.
As he responded to her questions, seemingly open in his sharing of information, she listened intently, filing away the information as best she could. If it hadn't been so weird and seemingly rude she would have wished she had a notepad, to jot down all the important points. But really she was pretty good at remembering anyway. She had always been a detail oriented person and years of remembering both school work and long extensive recipes had her mind sharp.
The theft of starseeds, and even the lesser evil of energy draining, was something that Polaris took great offense too. When speaking to allies she would rail hard against the practice, stating that the Negaverse and Dark Mirrors using civilian like cattle, against their will, was a grave sin and one of the things she was trying hardest to prevent and stop. It was something she felt down to her core, perhaps more strongly then some other senshi. But there was no point in telling Benitoite that, of arguing with him about something that he likely had no choice in.
The quota he spoke of made sense, or rather, it made the fact that she often saw agents out draining people make sense to her. And also the understanding why perhaps youma seemed more of a threat to the citizens of DC. Along with being seemingly mindless monsters they were feeding like animals. It seemed the common strategy of senshi to focus on youma was not a bad one, though in the end it was only a band-aid if no one worked to lessen the strength of the actual organization.
Polaris thought it seemed strange that all the energy would be going to youma, not when it was obvious that the human counterparts provided a much better weapon. When a name was offered though, she looked thoughtful, trying to recall if it was one she'd ever heard before. "Metallia...?"
She almost felt bad as he began to speak of youma and Bazzite, knowing from before that there was obviously emotion in the topic. She didn't dig for more answers, but the princess did nod softly as he spoke, taking in the information. A loyal and mindless, expendeable solider sounded just up the alley of an evil organization. One could argue that Order was not much better and that senshi were just as expendable but it was not a thought that crossed Polaris' mind. She listened with particular interest as he spoke of half youma officers, having never met one herself. It seemed sad, as Benitoite spoke of the lose of their entire lives outside the war, to be stuck forever powered.. forever in this.. Rift. There was a distinct feeling of pity for them, and a silent wondering as to whether her tiara would dust them in the same way it did regular youma. Polaris it turned out, could be just as much a killer as Benitoite when the right occasion arrived. Especially while she viewed the killing of youma as mercy for the soul it once was.
Despite his insistance that it wasn't his turn for questions yet, when he answered the final question she shifted in her seat again, a hand lifting that motioned and swayed softly with her words, putting in her two cents. "I had originally heard something similar about the moon princess and earth prince. I actually.. saw images of it.. almost like a strange movie in Elysion. Though of course in the story I heard the moon queen had nothing to do with it. And if she was anything like the... hologram.. or ghost or whatever it is we saw on the moon. Well.. she didn't seem like the type that seemed power or land hungry." It was however just a brief snippet they saw. Who could really say what the moon queen had been like? It was hard to think badly of the ghost woman who had seemed to ooze so much compassion, comfort, and serenity.
"However not long ago I heard another story that perhaps makes a little more sense when you put all the pieces together."
Polaris was drawing not from something she'd seen herself, but from conversations with Nilfhel, things he'd heard and learned, in particular a certain magical meeting. It was actually frightening how often the conversation in the house of Aurora, Azzo, and Snowball turned to magical topics. But then that probably had to do with the fact that they had very little social life outside of food, school, work, or powering up.
"I've heard that there was once a school.. or.. academy of some sort on the earth that knights from all over the universe used to train at. And due to some mixture of jealousy and fear related to the prince and princess, and also the school, a woman named Beryl raised an army and attacked the school, turning everyone there into youma and.. doing something to lock it away so that no knights or anyone on the side of Order could ever return there..?" Her words were slow, thoughtful. She was relaying the information she recalled from Nilfhel, but it almost sounded like she was digesting them as well, trying to figure out how it fit in with the story Benitoite had just told her.
"It was after that point that Chaos turned a full assault onto space. The moon... each and every star, planet, and individual wonder that used to be full of life. Each one taken out one by one a little over a thousand years ago."
"The signs of war and destruction aren't actually that bad here on Polaris. Maybe my people didn't put up that much fight, I'm not sure. Other places had it far worse structurally speaking. But needless to say there is no longer any life. Only the smallest hint of plant life on some stars that I've heard of."
Shrugging a little at the end she added a polite caveat. "That said, there are always so many sides to every story, so who knows which one holds the most truth." She believed it was her own side, but she was obviously had little desire to argue with him if he chose to cling to his story.
"Did you know that you might have been a knight in a past life? Or had an ancestor that was one?" It wasn't so much a question that she was seeking an answer for, more so a 'what it' that she offered in case he did not know. What perhaps one of the ancient youma wandering down in the Rift an ancestor of his centuries removed.
Tapping the fingers of her hands together lightly she tried to think of more questions, finding that most of them had fled from her head as she was overwhelmed with the new information.
"I imagine by now you know that we are unable to force purification on your side. However it is easily possible and not so infrequently done that your side can force corruption." She wondered for a brief moment if she was upsetting him with her choice of words. If the Negaverse perhaps didn't have a perverted view that considered THEIR method to be the one purifying. Nonetheless she continued on. "My question is.. is it very draining for your side to corrupt someone to your ranks? Are you capable of doing many people at a time or is it energy intensive?" Purification was incredibly energy intensive, and she was fishing to see just how badly their disadvantage was.
"Also.. it seems as though you must have quite a few people in high places. That you've been able to swing public relations fairly well towards the notion that our side is terrorizing the city even though it's your side that unleashes monsters out at night on the public." That last comment was perhaps a bit cruel. She probably should have ended her thought earlier. Her tone soften slightly in response, offering the actual question. "I'm not asking for any names or specifics. Just a yes or no that your side does make a concerted effort for such things. A curiousity I've had for a while really."

"Metallia is hard to explain. I'm not sure how seperate our energy source, the chaos, is from what is Metallia. Metallia speaks, has spoken during meetings, and is what was beyond Beryl. The true power and manipulator is Metallia. I don't know if the personality can be seperated fro mthe energy source we have, killed even. But it's something I've been exploring the idea of. If the energy remains but Metallia were to die perhaps it would stop things. Chaos is just that...good and bad, right and wrong...black and white. it's everything and nothing. It should be neutral - not what it is currently. I wonder if it isn't as it is because of the personality behind it." It made sense really when thought about. The idea of separating the two however...wasn't likely something easy nor smart but it was an idea. He really wanted to know more about Metallia, more about where they came from and what they were. How tied to the chaos energy where they - so much information he needed.
When Polaris decided to answer his question, not that he had been planning to ask her at the moment, he was happy for the information though it only birthed new questions. It was an interesting thing and having some more pieces to the whole puzzle was good but still many were missing.
"I see...I wish I had seen these things myself. I wish there was a way to learn more about this past - even if it's only a few more snippets. If they would help put this puzzle together, to figure out the truth better, I'd be pleased. But yes, a few moments of hearing and seeing someone doesn't give a full impression of who they are or, in this case, were. The truth is likely somewhere in between with each side giving a twist to things, to make themselves seem more the victim. But how much of a twist is given and where? That is the hard part to figure out." But he was sure neither was completely right but both had components of the truth in them. His gloves fingers ran through his hair, locks of ashen hair scattered messily across his face as he mussed his hair up.
"An academy...that's interesting. If it was close to the palace of Earth than it's likely down in the Rift." An academy for knights...was it like a school building? Big and a solid building? What sort of place would it have been? "Knights training...find out what it looked like...but I'm going to assume it would have been close to the palace, it would make sense, so it's down in the Rift." What would a knight think of knowing that? Knowing that Negaverse agents could walk around there? That it was ruined and home to youma? "That is an interesting story. We know for sure people, innocent people, were turned into youma and that Beryl was around in the beginning. We also know Earth's prince and the Moon's princess were somehow in the middle of this all....those things seem to be a common thing in both our stories, because form what I know of Beryl she was around then also." He had seen it somewhere, but couldn't remember where. It hadn't been involved in his lesson on the story of this all, on what had started this war.
Turning to look around the room, looking toward a window he tilted his head and smiled lightly, a gentle sort of smile. He didn't mind his story not being agreed with by Polaris. He accepted that the truth was not found in either story, not entirely, he wanted the true pieces of the puzzle...at least as many as he could find.
"I've heard that but there is no way of telling which is it or anything beyond that." No way to tell what he had been a knight of or where of. He couldn't - wouldn't give up his precious memories and his family. He couldn't do that to his family and friends or to the innocent blank slate he'd make himself. It would be cruel to everyone involved. "While I'm sure you and others gain memories of these things...we don't." Perhaps it was a sad thing; to not know where he'd come from or who he'd once been. But he didn't try to think on it, to dwell, on what could never be known to him. But thinking on it now he did wonder, he wouldn't mind knowing for the simple sake of knowing.
"I didn't know this...I'm not sure anyone on my side is aware of your inability to force it. But yes, we can force corruption upon a person - I've done it myself in order to protect my civilian identity due to a slip up of mine." Bischofite...and where was he now? No, best not to think of that either. Too m,any bad memories had been gathered over the time he'd been in the Negaverse - far too many. "It does take a lot of energy, I've corrupted civilians before. I can't corrupt someone from you're side - only a General King or General Queen can do so. To try would likely shatter the persons starseed...I've not the control over the chaos needed and it is a lot of energy being handled." He answered honestly while turning his gaze back to her as he stood slowly and moved to wander the room whilst they spoke.
"I couldn't corrupt two people back to back if I tried. I'd need a starseed or energy orbs and I'm not sure then. I'm figuring the same is likely true for our General King's and Queens, especially corrupting someone who is already awakened. I may however be wrong..but I don't think so when it comes to corrupting someone already awakened into this war." no, he was sure that they couldn't corrupt multiple people after doing one of those corruptions. He knew, personally, how draining it was to corrupt someone as he'd corrupted how many people now?
The words might be a bit harsh, calling the youma monsters, and insinuating they were turned lose by them every night but he ignored it for the moment. She had an honest question and he would answer it. Turning to her, leaning against a table he tilted his head a bit and smiled. "Of course. We have people, though only a few in this city, in high places. World wide however...it's one of the ways we won everywhere else. I'm surprised we've yet to do the same here...two of our General Queen's are from other countries in fact." Which made this fact even more surprising - they hadn't implemented the same tactics or to the same extent as elsewhere. "It is a good tactic to win a war like this. We can't fight on some great battle field. It's not possible but it is possible to win the war via the media and social opinion." it was a great way to win a war and it was what they were doing, it was how they were fighting this against the other side. "Why hasn't your side done similar? I have wondered that often. It is a logical way to fight this war. I've wondered about it a while now. If you get people places well in social circles they can influence people with power and money. People in the media who can influence everyone else..." It made no sense to him why the other side didn't play the same, or similar, games. "We actively bring in people who are placed in various areas."

She was certainly listening the whole time, her attention focused entirely on her guest during the whole exchange. However, when he spoke of Metallia, even if much of it was educated speculation, her attention seemed to focus even more so, lips pursing. If Benitoite was right and finding some way for this.. thing.. to be gotten rid of could potentially soften the Negaverse and more them more towards a balanced and peaceful mindset.. Well that was just the kind of thing that could turn the tides. He didn't seem to know much more than he'd offered, but Polaris carefully noted the name and filed it away. Maybe if she asked around enough she might be able to find out something helpful about this Metallia.
"Indeed." She nodded softly, agreeing with his sentiment. "For as many people as witness something there are that many sides of a story. Though I suppose we senshi and knights have the advantage of sometimes seeing the past while at our homeworlds. It's very strange to be wandering through this star and suddenly.." Her voice had slowed, more thoughtful, hand gesturing a little. "It's like a movie playing out in front of you like a perfect memory."
"Now if only I could use one of those memories to recall the Polarian language." She laughed, pointing downstairs to the room of books they'd come through. "I'm sure there are a handful of books down there that would be infinitely helpful and they're just collecting dust due to the language barrier."
The Rift.. A home to youma, an ancient castle, and possibly the knight's academy? If she had heard the word before today she'd never paid much attention to it. It was likely inpenetrable, in the way that Chaos couldn't reach her star. Or perhaps it was more like the Moon, where Chaos could not enter even if they did have an escort. "I'll ask Niflhel or some of the other knights if they recall what the school looked like." She confirmed.
She regarded his thoughts on the past with a polite nod. Little did she know that there actually WAS a knight out there with an item that could answer the question she could not. Just exactly what direction Benitoite's starseed would lean if he had first powered up as an ally instead of an enemy.
The information that corruption was energy intensive brought a small sense of relief to her. Having both seen and experienced purification she knew it was crippling, but atleast they too were set back when they did it. It was good to know that they couldn't burst into a room and add 100's to their rank at a time.
As he stood her eyes followed him, but for the moment she remained seated. And as he spoke of the strategy that worked well for them, she could only sigh, offering him a frusterating truth, and perhaps one of the most dangerous things she'd let slip during their conversation. "I would say that Order's greatest weakness is our lack of structure and ability to work together. While you have a hierarchy and a structure that passes on information, passes down orders, and arranges and calculates and recruits we do not have such luxuries. With no one in the lead there are too many bickering with each other over what to do. And running in two opposite directions. What you're speaking of isn't impossible on our side.. and possibly there is a small group working to try and counter your side in the media. But it's so much more muddled over here."
"And besides... we don't get to pick and choose candidates based on their skill sets in the way you can. Either you're reborn with a senshi starseed or you aren't. Even knights have to be reborn or have the ancestry running through their blood." Little did she know, that out there there was a Royal knight that could do just what she said they could not. Connect a purified knight to a wonder when they actually had no connection to it in the past. Even that wasn't entirely the same though. If the Negaverse wanted it could corrupt every world leader. "We have no choice in who awakens on our side, we just have to try and be there to mentor those that do pop up from time to time."
She must have trusted him, at least a little. What would the others think if they knew she was telling them this?
"Anyway, was there anything you wanted to know?" She offered finally. She was out of questions for the time being, though more were likely to come with time. And in the meantime she was happy to at least attempt to return the favor he had done her.

"If you could learn the language of your planet...I fear I might ask you to translate some of those books for myself to read. I do enjoy a good read and I'm sure those books would be fascinating in a way that books purchased in book stores on Earth are not." He spoke honestly, gently. He would want to read something from another planet, to learn of things once known but lost...things that were alien, literally so. His bright eyes had turned to her at some point during that simple sentence. The idea of such knowledge, of something lost and so utterly different and special was appealing. Shaking his head he flashed her a smile as he looked about them.
"Let me know what your knight says and I'll see if I cannot, by what you tell me, confirm our training grounds being the knight academy." He stated with a simple nodding of his head. if he could do that she would surely bring that information back to her knight and then what? What would a knight do knowing that such a place was still around? Was held by the enemy and part of their territory now? He was sure they couldn't break into the Rift but would they try and find some way to attempt such a dangerous thing? Would it cause the knights, as a whole if they found out, to fight the Negaverse harder? To try and reclaim what had once been theirs? "I can, if it's confirmed that it was once the knight academy, see if anything remains other than the structure itself. I doubt it but who knows. It's one area of the Rift I've not explored - it's rather vast and seemingly endless. The Rift is...I'd have to show you...give me time and I'll show you." He said and before she could worry, think that he might find some way to bring her there, he continued. "I paint. I'll see what I can do." He said as he wondered how hard it would be to capture the Rift, and everything it was, with oil paints and canvas. Maybe a series of paintings to give her a true idea of the Rift? Yes, it was an appealing idea.
As she spoke about her faction, about their lack of unity, she nodded and set his folded up cape on a table and took to moving about the room again as he listened to her. He knew they lacked organization. The senshi never seemed to have it and have those in control who gave out orders. He'd noticed it in several big battles so it was really no surprise to hear such things. "I know about that. I would agree about it being a big weakness to your side. Our order however...has it's own flaws. We have branches...one which handles intel, gathering it and sorting it and putting it to use, another which is..our shock troops. Those are the ones who train the most and have no issue in killing a senshi - chibi or otherwise. Infiltration is where we work inside the media, social circles, and such. The flaw, at least in my opinion, is found within the intel branch. They don't just gather intel on outsiders but also on our own and most intel members...are unknown. So it makes talking to people very hard." It bred distrust as you didn't know who to trust and who not to. Who was in intel and would tell your secrets to. "I'm sure you see my rather...dangerous position. I can't be caught acting oddly, at least not where I can't explain it away, and I can't go searching for too much information or go asking too many questions. I tried to help some of the senshi and knights captured during the New Years event, especially Acrucis' who was deathly ill. I brought General Mica in to help, not that she knew my true purpose for helping the senshi, I'm lucky so far no one has truly questioned me." But he had to keep his act up and needed her to understand that. She knew where his loyalties were and his thoughts on things but in a battle, in a kidnapping situation, he could not be himself. He had to be like everyone else and she needed to understand and know that. She was right though, the Negaverse was organized - very organized. It was how they functioned and ran. It was one reason, in his opinion, that they did better than the senshi.
"It's not something your side would do..but we keep those in line because we put them in line if they step out of it. I've never had to, I'm more friendly with those within the Negaverse, but I've seen two thrown out a window for getting out of line during a meeting. I've heard of members being demoted as well. We punish those who step out of line. Something your side wouldn't do..but perhaps putting ones foot down and throwing their power around would do the trick? Or...making friends and allies- as many as possible? Gathering those with similar opinions and taking over lead of that group. Influence as many as you can." He was hoping to help the senshi, as a whole, somehow and if he could offer ideas to help gather them into an actual force which could influence media and social circles than he would. They needed to organize better and he wished to help, somehow, with that.
Reaching the white haired senshi he reached out and gently set a hand on her shoulder and stared down at her seated form. "You're right. You don't get to pick. But you can help get members into such positions. If someone wants to become a journalist...help them get there. it should be a group goal to help them achieve that. If they achieve it...they can help you're cause - to help your faction. You can't pick who joins your ranks but you can always help place them where they want to be or where they are needed.
Now though it seemed the white haired princess was looking to him to ask questions, to give him information. What did he want to know? She had told him what she had heard of the ancient past. She hold given him information already. Pausing, thinking, he stood there staring down at her for some moments.
"I think some of what I want to know I can't word...and yet other things are more opinionated things." So an answer that would apply more to her than others. "I am curious about the ancient past...about these planets and what they were once like. I cannot help but be so curious. So much destroyed and yet unable to be brought back...or can it be? and if so how? Perhaps that is one thing I wish I did have - memories of somewhere far from Earth...some place unique and special - different and alien. Something out of a fantasy story. As lame as it must sound I'm sure you can understand how it also makes sense - we live in a world filled with magic as we do." Something how many people could claim? How many people though were clueless and thought such things were only found in books, movies, and tv shows? He was bound to be curious about such and want to know, to experience, it all and yet he couldn't.
"But to you I want to know what you want to come of this war? What goals have you...what do you want to see happen? Being here, talking to you, I want to know about you who I am willing to ally myself with and I want to grasp, and know, what little I can in whatever way I can of what once was. If only because I am both fascinated and curious. Looking up at the stars is no longer the same innocent, wondrous, thing it was as a child." Perhaps there was a longing to know, to see and understand...to remember? There was certainly a longing in his voice. But he was not about to don the uniform of a knight to find out these things. No, he was fine with the uniform he bore now and the chaos which swam through his blood and filled him.

"Yes.. I can only imagine that type of information that fills all those books." She hummed thoughtfully, eyes glancing for a moment at the large telescope. "You see.. while some on this star focused on mining ore and working with magnet related technology there was a large section that also worked as.. social anthropologists of sorts. They visited and watched other stars and planets, making notes of the culture. Very nosy." She mused at the final statement, shaking her head.
"If I can ever wrap my head around it and figure it out I'll let you know." Polaris agreed.
The offer to explore and look for the Academy was a generous one, even for a senshi who had very little connection with the building. It was, however, information she'd like to offer to Niflhel, her knights, and any others if it was interest to them. Would Niflhel feel anything about it? Did he remember any of his time there?
At the offer to show her the Rift, her eyes probably showed the sudden worry that flooded her mind. A place flooded with seemingly endless youma.. it sounded like a death wish. When Benitoite explained himself however her expression changed, curious, her mouth forming a soft o shape. "Ohhh.."
"That's such a fantastic skill to have. I was never very good at art, with the exception of semi decent cake decorating. But even that took some practice and assistance." She could still remember the day she'd sat in the park with Howl, him teaching her how to write more delicately with her icing bag.
Hierarchy was a double-edged sword. On one hand the fear of punishment could keep some in line, inspire them to do things they might not have done in the first place, or at the very least motivate them to be better. But at the same time it could lead to corruption, mistrust, paranoia, and even revolution and in fighting. She listened with interest as he spoke of the intel branch and his issues with it.
She felt her chest tighten as he mentioned punishment. And she had thought the bickering and shouting of their large meetings was bad. Atleast she didn't remember anyone resorting to actual blows. Well.. except maybe in regards to the Blood Moon group...
As he hand settled on her shoulder and he offered her his advice, she nodded thoughtfully. "You're quite right. So many that join our ranks are young.. children that still haven't chosen a life and career. Instilling in them the idea that they could make a difference through certain fields.. journalism.. law enforcement.. politics.. That couldn't hurt. Even the older ones.. finding out their skill sets and interests. It's all a very good idea."
"When I first started, I prided myself in listening to the powers of others, and giving them suggestions on how to use their powers and the best people to try and team up and patrol with. It's the same sort of thing really.. just with a different set of information." Her fingernails tapped the table thoughtfully. "I just need to open myself up to enough people that they feel comfortable giving that sort of information to me. Some are still rather tight lipped about their identities."
As he expressed his curiousity about the homeworlds of the past she nodded. It made sense his questions, but she wasn't sure how much information she could offer other than what she recall about her own homeworld. She could always ask around though, and gather more information. "I know in the past there was a lot of travel and working together among the homeworlds. A grand trade system that kept almost everyone connected. And I've heard of magical labryinths full of treasure. And beautiful victorian-esque architecture covering the planet Saturn. And a place, the Surrounding, that circled our section of the galaxy working as a barrier to keep Chaos from further out in the universe from trying to get in."
"I'll see if I can't collect some better information for you from across the galaxy."
When he asked his question, one that was not at all easy or simple, the princess paused, thinking for a long moment before she answered, slowly and thoughtfully. "All I really want.. is a world that is safe. Where people don't have to worry about being attacked when they go out at night or that any large event or gathering might end in a giant debacle of drained energy, monsters, and the collateral damage of a war zone."
Her voice softened, unable to hide the sorrow in her eyes as she spoke the next statement. "I want a world that I can bring children into without worrying each night that they won't return home. This world is already full of dangers, but when you add this war to it as well. It's not worth it.." The words cut her like a knife to say, tears welling in her eyes. It was a secret bitterness she held, a dream the war had stolen from her. But that wasn't what her tears were for. And as her hands lifted to wipe the tears away she explained. "I'm sorry... a few years ago a small group attacked the elementary school. I suppose they thought the children would be easy pickings." She still saw it sometimes in her nightmares, though the years had lessened how often. One would never forget the sight of a child having their starseed ripped out. And one never forgot the first time they made the choice to kill someone.
A sigh shuddered through her chest as she tried to calm herself again and find her composure. "I'm sure it's naive, too lofty a goal even. But all I want is for the innocents to be safe. For people to live happy lives again. For our fight, if it is impossible to truly end, to at least be done with less collateral damage to those who have no part in it." In the past she'd always thought that to attain those goals meant the collapse and destruction of the Negaverse. But given their size.. was that even a viable hope now?
"In the past we've actually kind of.. worked together.. against forces larger than us that came after our home. That woman made of ice. The shade queen. It's proof we can work together if we try. Perhaps it's a sign we could coexist. If we really tried."
"I've heard some others mention attempting to fix their homeworlds. Some that hope eventually for actual recolonization. But as much as I'd love to see Polaris flourish, I could not tear myself from Earth. It's my home.. and it's where everyone I have ever come to know or love is."

"Would you? You would let me know if you ever translate those books?" He asked, surprise taking up residence upon his features. She would tell him? She would let him know such things? As personal and private as they were? That was a surprise but he was pleased - very pleased. He was happy hearing those words. "I hope one day you can decipher those books. I'm sure they'd be interesting and amazing as well." He was sure a lot could be found within the pages of all those books and he was beyond curious about them.
"Yes, I could never bring you to the Rift itself. The youma don't even like the corrupted senshi - they have to have a Captain or higher with them. The youma would otherwise attack them, same for the guardian cats." He spoke with a shrug, or perhaps a roll, of his shoulders. "I doubt if I brought you to the Rift I could keep the youma at bay, General as I am. But the greater youma...if any woke - I could never order one." He was sure he couldn't, not after waking one and riding on it to the surrounding up in space. There was surely no way one that impressive would take orders from him, maybe a General King or a General Queen but a General? No. He'd be ignored or killed perhaps.
"I like tp paint when I have time...it's relaxing. I like to paint landscapes - nature." A love of plants, it was no wonder he liked to paint nature with his obvious love for it. He'd wind up painting something he saw here; no doubt about it. Perhaps he'd paint one for her as well? She may get to see here all the time but to have a scene from here home on Earth? That would be something wouldn't it. Already he was thinking of a gift for her; how sad was he. "I can paint and sketch but beyond that...not so much." Sculpting, writing, music...nope. Just painting and sketching out what he was going to work on. "I doubt I could manage to decorate a cake, that's a whole different set of artistic skills. As for baking...that would be a disaster to start with." No, there likely wouldn't even be a cake for him to attempt to decorate. There would however be an undeniable mess left in the wake of his baking attempt.
"Yes, it would help to assist those who seek to join those fields. I wouldn't suggest making someone go down a path they don't want - they can become resentful and just unhappy in the career. But if someone has a talent for it or shows an interest in a field which can be helpful - nurture it. If someone had connections...use them if you can - gently though. I wouldn't enter into a social event and out right talk about the war. However...I might discuss something that was on the news, ask their opinion. I'd then gently hint to my own opinion and whatever I may have, or may not have, heard. It's about manipulating things to your advantage. It may not be something you like - sinking to that level. This is war however and it's the way we play things..." And the other side had best start playing the same game and using the same tactics if they wanted to win.
"That is also good...what you used to do. You should get back to that. Keep a notebook if you must and write down peoples names, powers, skill sets. I know I'd list for myself that I'm good with a long ranged weapon and that I've knowledge of plants medicinal uses. If you can start gathering information, making lists, you can start figuring out how to better fight us." And not with fists and magic but in the way the Negaverse was fighting and winning - had won all over the world. "The tight lipped ones...spend time on them - make them your friend. In time they might talk. You cannot rush this, I doubt we did everywhere else that we've won. You have time...use it and build your base - take us by surprise. Start gathering information, making friends, helping people to gain places that'll be helpful and start putting peoples connections to use." But don't spring the trap till they had everything set. Don't let them get a whiff of what was going on around them - that a trap was being built. This was a game and he was giving her ideas on how to play it. "I'll continue to play things on my end and keep you informed on anything you'll need. I've been working on finding out about Metallia; if she can be separated from the energy we use. if so...I intend to try and poison her and remove her from the equation." He would help from the shadows; from the darkness of chaos. He would be trying to assist them as much as he could.
As she thought on her answer he took up his seat again and then she was talking, answering him. "I'd like that...if you don't mind. I'd appreciate it. I am curious and not just because it is knowledge I do not have." No, there was an emotional need to be fulfilled. That knowledge might help in filling some of that whole. "Just don't let anyone you ask know who the information is for." They would likely not tell her a thing if they knew. What other senshi would be nice to him? Especially this nice? He doubted any would. She accepted him as he was - a General. She understood why he would not change his uniform and he appreciated it.
Listening to the heartfelt answer to his harder, more probing and personal question, he found himself leaning forward in his seat and watching her closely. Nodding his head he smiled softly. They both wanted a safe world and for innocent people to be safe. At the mention of children he nodded his head and stood swiftly, moving to crouch down in front of her and reached up with a gloved hand. Wiping under her eyes to catch any tears he could. "If we work together - if others work together...we can avoid that dark fate and perhaps have a world where you can feel safe in having children; a worry I'll never have." He said smiling up at her. "But something you shouldn't worry about - no one should." If she wanted to one day be a mother she should be able to and not worry! To worry, to live in fear, that was not being free and he would try his hardest to fix things and not just for the teary eyed princess. "I am worried of loving freely. In the future...the one I loved most was killed saving me. It is impossible to deny love however. I just have to cross my fingers that he isn't the one...or that I've changed things enough to avoid it...I have to think I'm doing enough, that others are also. Don't let it kill your wish to be a mother. Some things in life cannot be denied or thrown away." He whispered, staring up at her for several silent moments before he rose to his feet.
"A school should never be attacked...they are too young and innocent. Especially considering some members are very displeased with chibi senshi...it is odd that some would then attack a school of such young children." No...he'd never heard of that and it didn't settle well with him. A child's starseed taken? no, that was wrong...very wrong. He didn't even think he could come up with a word to properly describe it and yet he knew how wrong it felt to him hearing about it.
"We've...worked together in the past?" He questioned as he sat back into his chair and stared at her; curious. When had they worked together? What had happened to make them work together? "Perhaps it is...if so perhaps this is another step toward that?" He asked whilst motioning between himself and her. "If that ever happens I'd want to see them - I'd honestly wish to spend a good amount of time in space seeing as much as I could." Smiling at her last words he nodded his head. "It's why I could never become a knight...I'd lose those I love and hurt them - I could never do that."

His shock at her offer was a bit of a surprise to the senshi. Whether it was the sincerity behind how much it seemed to mean to him or the notion that he thought she wouldn't. It gave her a moment's pause before she nodded in head to confirm it. "I mean if I find diaries or anything like that I'd probably keep those to myself." Or you know.. any book with secret stuff that would hurt the forces of Order. "But I imagine most of these books here would be like textbooks. Star charts.. perhaps history or information on the other homeworlds and places in the galaxy. And I can't see a harm that would come out of sharing that. If anything it's honoring them in a way. To let them not be forgotten even after all this time."
"Though of course that's all a big if. It's hard to know where to start in deciphering a language with unknown roots to work from."
Her worries about the Rift, and youma, were confirmed as Benitoite spoke further about them. To hear that youma would attack their own senshi and cats was interesting and strange. Perhaps someone would be able to make use of that information, but for now it was simply sad, to think of the souls that fell to create monsters that couldn't even necessarily tell their allies from their enemies in certain situations.
His advice was listened to with soft interest and she nodded at the appropriate moments. It was all solid advice, simple but powerful. However the further he went the more he confused her. Not his words, but rather his intentions, as he seemed to be drawing a map directly to the demise of his group. There was subversive commentary, but this was not simply that. It was no wonder that he worried about words like 'traitor' and Polaris was all the more comforted by the fact that she'd brought him far far away from the possibility of prying ears. Had those dreams of the future been that persuasive? It if was that terrifying, enough to turn a veteran from their own side.. well it was no wonder Azzo had been having such a hard time sleeping.
Perhaps she should have been suspicious. Should have reevaluated her concerns that he just might be lying and telling her all the things she wanted to hear. But in her heart she couldn't believe that all the sincerity he'd let slip had merely been an act. Especially with what happened next.
She hadn't expected comfort from him as she became overwhelmed with emotion. Hadn't expected his hand to reach up and touch her cheek so tenderly, brushing away the tears that she hadn't been able to hide. In the end a heavy sigh escaped her, followed by an appreciative smile as she regained her composure. "You're right. No matter how you fight it love is impossible to deny. I hope you won't try to deny it in fact. It's wonderful... Having someone to talk to and someone to care for."
"The future is ours to mold." It was as simple as that. She had to believe it was something that could be done, or what was even the point in trying. In everything they'd done and everything they had sacrificed up until now.
"I suppose 'worked together' might be a bit of stretch... But when the Shade Queen appeared not long ago we were able to focus on fighting her instead of each other. Same thing with the ice woman. And when some of us were lost in those strange dreams and comas...." Of course one could argue that there were all simply flukes and there were hundreds of examples of times they'd done anything 'but' get along or work together.
It was her turn to stand, her arms crossing in front of her as she took a few steps stretching her legs. "Well in anycase, I'm glad I took the opportunity to talk to you today. I think we can really changes things. That we can actually make things better for all of us."

"I can't deny certain things, they would make me less human, so I cannot deny my feelings for someone even if my mind tells me I should." Though it also told him he shouldn't because it would be letting the war, letting his worries and fears, win. It would be letting a possible future rule his here and now and he couldn't allow it to happen. He would change things - he already was. There was no reason to avoid his feelings for someone because of what was now a big what if. "I suppose that is one of the biggest reasons I want to remove Metalia. I think that without her, if she can be separated from the chaos we have within us." The us being the Negaverse of course. "We would be more of a neutral force. Chaos isn't evil or good...and yet too many of us lean too heavily to the evil side." He wanted a balance, it was what was needed and what should be. "I can only hope that such is possible...I've been looking for information but I've found nothing yet about Metalia." He wished he had though, anything would do. Could she, or it, have had a different name in the past? He didn't know but it was something worth thinking about.
"Mmm, I was involved in fighting the Shade Queen. I was not around for the ice woman. It is nothing I've heard of actually...I did hear mention of dreams I think once or twice.." But again he knew little to nothing about these things.
"Perhaps what the case that we see is a matter of us, all of the same planet, allowed to fight each other but an outsider is not permitted to join in. A sort of territorial thing?" He suggested while tilting his head as he thought over the idea. It seemed true enough, it could easily be why they could work together against other forced...and than go right back to bickering, squabbling and fighting each other. "Where us working together, in the long run, will never work out because we cannot agree on anything aside from when we are presented with a common enemy." Snorting he shook his head and gazed up at the princess. "A sad thing really. But at least I'm willing to work with the other side, to insure a bright future." Such as he was sitting here talking with her and hoping to work with her rather than against her.
It was a sudden thing, something he didn't plan to ask, but the words slipped out. "If you know any senshi, or knights, who remember a lot of the past and the destruction...could you see if they remember a Metalia or...a personality or persona behind the chaos...? Perhaps the personality behind it had a different name, or was called something else. I can't find anything but perhaps someone on your side remembers something - anything. I want to know the one who is pulling the strings and aiming us to such a future." And anything he could find out could help, was another piece to the puzzle...and thus far he had scarce few puzzle pieces at hand. Iris_virus If Polaris wants she can ask others and mention that she's looking for someone, but not mention his name and maybe not his rank. He wouldn't wanna have his name get out to his own side, that would be very bad for his health.

Polaris smiled as he spoke of letting his walls down and no longer denying himself, giving an encouraging nod on top of it. Perhaps they all needed something nice to go home to. A spark of light in what could be a depressing and lonely war at times. So they didn't get engulfed in darkness and despair. "It took forever for me and my fiancee to start.. officially dating. To say the words to confirm it. We were both far too shy... But you never know what day will be your last one so.. better to pull up the courage and try."
When he mentioned Metallia again, her wings fidgeted, making a soft rustling noise. "I think this Metallia thing sounds like one of the best leads I've heard in a long time. When you're searching blindly of course it can seem as if you're going nowhere at all. But once you know what you're looking for..." Well, it was a start atleast, and she intended to ask around on her side. Maybe even a little subtly on his side.
Where us working together, in the long run, will never work out because we cannot agree on anything. It was a disappointing notion. And while she agreed.. she hoped that his notion that removing Metallia could do something about it. If she was gone.. would the Negaverse become more neutral as he'd mentioned. More reasonable and someone that they could compromise with? It couldn't hurt to try.
At his request, she nodded. Of course, he hadn't needed to ask. It was the least she could do given how much he'd given her and how little she'd had to give back. "I'll spread the name around to some of my friends who have been at this the longest. There has to be someone out there that remembers or knows something." It was days like this that names she hadn't thought of in ages popped to her mind. Kunzite... Astraea.... Kurma. She hadn't heard or seen anything from any of them in what seemed like forever. But with the sheer amount of powered people roaming this city someone had to heard or known something.
Pacing a few more steps thoughtfully, silently listing in her head some of the people in particular she'd ask first, she finally turned, tapping her wrist lightly with one finger. "We can linger for a little longer if you like, but time moves similarly here as it does on Earth. We'll want to make sure to be back before morning."Sleet Tempest Snape I don't know that she'll actually have to identify anyone, just "So I recently heard this name Metallia..". BUT if she does she definitely won't mention anything incriminating. Probably play if off like a newbie Lt talked too much. ;3
