I like to think of my characters as... pleasantly off-the-wall, like in Guilty Gear. We're talking pseudo-demonic rappers from Canada, an Italian demon with the manners of an old woman who cooks too much, pyrokinetic bassists, Japanese Emcees, Greek kunoichi (o_0), British Bruce Lee knock-offs, and a 15-year-old Black girl who *can't wait* to - ahem - put you in your place. wink

Atmosphere
Dark and obscure. Lots of violence, lots of destruction, and a buttload of homosexual innuendo/tendencies (I've been looking at too much hentai). Of course, there will be some comic relief along the lines Jackass to lighten up the moods.

Why "Jackass" you might be asking yourself? Because Jackass pwns. mrgreen

Overall Concept
The trials and tribulations of various people of different nationalities getting to know each other, usually through combat. Amidst the chaos, friendships, relationships, and rivalries are formed until it gets to the point that everyone unites as one to eliminate a common threat. Think of it as... lessons in diversity and the elimination of cultural ignorance, so to speak. 3nodding

Well, here's what I've been working on, I won't say too much cause of fears of my ideas being stolen, here's a small tip of the iceberg

Purgatory Era

Genre
FPS, with a little third person

Timeline
Based in a not so distant future (somewhere between 2021-2032), centers around two factions, the United Allied Nations, headed by the humans and WinBack Assault Special Protectors, a military group based in purgatory, headed by a mysterious race called the Whispers

Species
Humans are now the main enemy, but some remain neutral

Whispers, a mysterious race that the humans no little about, they have the ability to turn into humans and rely on human weapons, ie Guns, but their assassin division uses a wide range of knives

Music
Similar to that of Halo, but crossed with a little of everything, some techno (in certain area of the cities) but mainly focusing on drums, violins, liquid sounding keyboards and stuff like Silent Hill, dark, moody and creepy

Cast
Depending on the part your talking about, the Pre-War or the War
Raven-laid back, but strong willed soldier, a full whisper disguised as a human
Ayumi Kansaki-a young (talking like 16 years old) female psychic with Whisper Blood, she's human they're joined by a rag-tag group,
Rayne-a crackshot with a sniper rifle
Jared 'Red'-the other a demolition expert
Mayu-the other a female assassin
Razaaq 'Raze'-Raven's second in command and long time friend
there are some minor-major characters and of course enemies, a Riddick-like bad guy named Frost, who controls an army of his own clones and so on, more later

Setting
Takes place in a new form of Earth, after what's called The Great Purge, Earth has been redone, restarted, WASP is established to provent wars from happening, they must stop the UAN from starting another war, but later learn...its against WASP
In the Purgatory War era, WASP and the UAN clash in an interdimensional war through the eastern coast of the Allied States (basically, the world and its continents have been reshaped, breaking into 6 seperate continents, more on that later), later spreading to Purgatory istself, than to Europe and the Shadow Plains (a continent ruled by the Shadow Clan, a clan of dragons that see honor in war, but two ruling families are at war)

Enviroments
Ah yes, the critical point of any shooter, they'll range from cities to small towns to forests to jungles, even the wide open desert and mountains, they'll be big, talking FarCry Instincts and Halo 2 big, the jungles are inspired by Vietnam, cities are taken from places like an old European city to a Muslim city to our modern day cities, all war torn and filled with plenty of guys to shoot, the open enviroments will feature trenches, if you anyone played Killzone, they'll know where the ideas come from, even a D-Day like invasion feature two forms, aerial insertion (taken from the Killzone PS3 video) and Call of Duty 2 (The cliff was an awesome concept)

Atmosphere
It'll be a little serious, but some light-hearted humor, even dark humor, but mainly a serious setting, lots of emotion, dark tones, even some elements of horror added into the mix, there is lots of military involved, but the main cast will sorta break away from the military tone, like instead of using military call signs, they'll call their pilots Rubber Ducking and officers Big Cheeses, stuff like that.

Weapons
Its a shooter, so you'll get the usual stuff, featuring eight classes of weapons on both sides, a total of 41 weapons for WASP and 29 for the UAN, bringing a total of 70 weapons total, its gonna be huge, you can even drive up to 20 different vehicles, ranging from a Humvee to a Hind-D Attack Helicopter

Overall
Its gonna be showing two groups fighting, one out of revenge, the other out of power, the characters will play a deep role in the story as they'll change throughout the story, if this was to be a game, it'll focus a lot on character developement, plenty of action (its a war, right?), plus I want to avoid using whiny characters that complain a lot, there will be complaining, but that's due to situations that are...well, a little out of hand, like I said, humor is key when lightening up the mood.

It'll also focus on issues in the real world, it won't be pro-whoever, but focus on the horrors of war and the failure of humanity, for those who don't know what I mean by failures of humanity, let's say...the Rwanda Genocide, the situation in Darfur, Sudan, in other words, Genocide, idiot politicians, Cowboy Officers, even showing hate-propaganda, all the battles will be inspired by famous ones in real world wars like WWII and Vietnam, it will be interesting considering the content, racism is added, like how the (no offense to anyone of race) white people treated the black people, how the world reacts to the Muslims, how Native Americans were treated during the colonial era (when Europe started settling in North America) and so on

I was thinking a bit of Alternative Rock with lots of power chords... something akin to A Perfect Circle.

Cast
First, a note about the timeline. This takes place on am alien planet named Rhythm, it's inhabitants called Rhyths. Now a note about the lunch thing up top. "Rhyths" are a race of warrior females inspired by the Gerudo Tribe from the Zelda games. The main difference is that there's no king... nor male Rhyths... at all. Not one in 1 year, 10 years, 100 years, 1000 years... yeah (such is the result of watching too much hentai). sweatdrop

The cast itself, as you've probably already figured out, is solely female with a small amount of very lethal, yet lovable characters... I hope. o_0 They include...

Seiya, armed with Long Sword - main character with amnesia
Ryann Aru-Maad, armed with Ring Blade - Ninja of sorts looking for - ahem - fiancee
Aero-Dea Zurr, armed with Axe - demoness with gentle soul
Kndra Lyrik, armed with Scythe - young lass with appreciation for life
Kari Sorro, armed with Inverted Great Sword - Kndra's older half-sister with strong sense of comraderie (sp?)
Danni Peru, armed with nothing - tall, dark, lovely, *and* highly intelligent
T'Mura Winter, armed with Long Sword - youngest in family with something to prove
Veras M'Reau, armed with Inverted Long Sword - scarred "angel" who wears a mask to hide her face
Maya Nerbekk, armed with Long Sword - bounty hunter with hots for Danni
Syej Tyrnell, armed with Duel Long Swords - tyranus queen of Rhythm

Yup. I have a few others but I haven't worked out the details.

Atmosphere
Bright and vibrant to hide the angst and hidden turmoil of the characters. For example, Kndra has a gentle heart and almost detests fighting anyone. Can you imagine someone like her going completely ballistic?

There's also a trashload of... actually, I'm gonna keep this last detail to myself. ninja

Overall Concept
Whoever is to be queen of all Rhyths should be strong and, if need be, ruthless. Every 10 or so years, a wolrdwide tournament is held to determine the new ruler of Rhythm. However, not all rulers particularly *enjoy* times of peace...

Syej Tyrnell is one such ruler. She and her younger twin sister Syenna ruled the planet for already 4 years, abusing their power not unlike a certain Iraqi who shall remained unnamed. Some, fed up with the sisters' tyrany, attempted a coup de'tat (sp?). All failed, save one who actually managed to kill Syenna. Distraught, Syej imposed a law that anyone who speaks ill about the younger of the Tyrnells is killed on sight, or so it's believed.

Here arises a small band of Rhyths each highly praised in their combat skills by peers. Each believes that she can take out the corrupt Queen Syej, if not by herself, then together. Along the process, each encounters lessons in life, ranging from the true meaning of strength to the heavy loss of a loved one.
