Ciel hadn't been in a good head space since escaping that horrible planet and those death games. She hadn't gone out to patrol or even just really gone out other than to get food, the only people she had spoken to were Penthe and chaonis to explain why she had missed their training sessions. She just laid on her bed holding her stuffed bear, lancelot, in the dark thinking about all the people who died up.
No I've got to get past this, I've got a duty and I can't do if I'm here wallowing in a pool of misery. Maybe I should take a trip to Hyperborea that usually helps me calm down. She thought about it but at the same time didn't really want to go up there alone, sure there was Theseus and she had gotten alot closer to him since they started training together but at the same time he wasn't usually the best comfort giver. Then a thought struck her she could invite one of her friends. She thought for a minute on who to invite. Babylon, he's been good to me and he seems like the type who'd be interested in visiting wonders.
She activated her ring and called the mercury knight. "Hello Babylon...Finn, I was wondering if you'd be up for coming to my wonder with me?" She said to the tiny holographic image of the man.

To be fair, Babylon hadn't been expecting anyone to call at this hour. Hyperborea had no one to blame but herself if she was scandalized by the fact that he appeared, not in his knightly regalia, but in his pajamas. (Finn had no one to blame but himself for the fact that his pajamas were a pair of novelty-print boxers and a summer camp t-shirt.) "Your wonder?" he asked, blinking at the tiny image of the page that now hovered over his ring. He leaned forward and turned off Chopped, as if to say, you have my full and undivided attention. "Yeah, sure," he said. "Where should I meet you?" Fifteen minutes later, Babylon, now fully dressed, met Hyperborea at the location of her choice. "I can't promise I can stay indefinitely," he said, "Work in the morning. But I can at least head up with you for a while. What's up, that we need to go to space on such short notice?"

Hyperborea had chosen the time circle fountain as their meeting point, since it was a place she was sure they both knew. So there she waited as Hyperborea, She gave him a soft smile as he approached " Bonsoir mon ami."
"That's not a problem, just let me know when you want to go back." She did feel a little bad she hadn't meant to make it seem like the trip was something urgent.
"Oh well, I've just had alot on my mind and...I just wanted to get away from thing for a little while but I didn't want to go alone." She gave him an apologetic look for any misunderstanding.
But he was here now so she took his hand and began the pledge. "I pledge my life and loyalty to Cosmos, and to Hyperborea. I humbly request your aid, so that in return I may give you mine." Within a flash the pair were no longer on earth.
When Hyperborea opened her eyes she saw that they were at the foot of the acropolis. A large stone arch led into the winding path up the mountain. The path was lined with dead trees and old statues of ancient knights.
Hyperborea turned to her older friend. "Knight Babylon of Mercury, I welcome you to Hyperborea." She said adding a curtsy for flourish. Silverah Some reference pics ( 1 & 2)

As his vision cleared, Babylon drank in the vista. Noticing Hyperborea's curtsey out of the corner of his eye, he turned towards her and nodded. "It's beautiful," he said, smiling at the squire. He could empathize with wanting to show off one's wonder - he felt the same way about Babylon. That trip would have to wait until another night - he needed to focus on being here right now. "Is everything alright?" he asked, forcing his eyes away from the city to Hyperborea's face. There'd be time to sightsee later. For the moment, he was concerned that something bad had happened. Call it paranoia, but usually, when Hyperborea came calling, it was because she'd found herself in crisis. Babylon didn't mind being that person for her, but he hoped that one of these days, she could catch a damn break. Also, he'd had a conversation a few nights prior that confirmed Hyperborea's continued lack of chill, and he was trying to think of the best way to tell her to take a damn night off and be a kid. (Babylon had been lucky to not awaken until he was nineteen, he thought. Any sooner and he would have wound up a nervous wreck.)

Hyperborea let out a sigh, she was hoping the topic wouldn't come up. It wasn't so much that she didn't want to talk to someone about it but she felt like she kept dumping so much on Babylon, it seemed unfair to him. But still he had asked and she didn't want to leave him in the dark. She motioned for them to begin walking up the path as she recounted her tale.
"Not really. A little over a week ago I was kidnapped along with alot of other powered people, both order and chaos. We were taken to an alien planet." To most people Hyperborea's story would probably sound insane, but she knew Babylon had seen enough that he would believe it.
"There was this insane king, he said we were going to pay for our crimes by fighting to death against each other. He had these collars put on us, if we tried to fight back they would explode." she said absently rubbing the spot on her neck where her collar had been. She thought about the first page who had died how all that had been left of the young girl's upper body was a pool of blood.
"Alot of people died up there. I felt so powerless there was nothing I could do to save them." She said looking up at Babylon. "I'm sorry I shouldn't dump all this on you. This trip is supposed to be fun, would you like to see the heart of my wonder, the labyrinth?" She said as they reached the front gatehouse of the acropolis.

Babylon stared blankly at Hyperborea. She seemed... honestly, a little bit blasé about all this, but he supposed that was what happened when the universe repeatedly tried to ******** you over prior to the age of fifteen. He was going to try to wrap his head around all this and take her word for it... but without corroborating evidence, that was a challenge. "Alien kidnapping," he said, after a moment. "Right. Not the first time that's happened." It was a little weird that he hadn't heard anything about it from anyone else yet, though, if so many people had been taken... But then again, Hyperborea had no reason to lie. Except for attention, he thought. The way damaged kids do. "How did you get back?" he asked, not because he was trying to seem like he doubted her, but because, well, he sort of did. There was a hole in this story big enough to drive a semi-truck through. "And yeah, sure, let's go look around. You're certain it's safe?" Historically, knights and labyrinths did not combine well.

Had Hyperborea known Babylon's thoughts she would have been truly hurt. She might have been many things but she wasn't a lier, and she definitely would never make up a story for attention.
"There was this ancient Mauvian spirit. After a week he helped us get free. After that we fought the king." She said shaking her head. Just thinking about it all was actually starting to upset her as the memories came flooding back.
"Look if you're really curious maybe you should ask someone else who was there like sailor Ida. I really just want to try to forget that even happened, there was too many lives lost on that planet."
Before she could answer his other question another voice interjected. "I am certain it safe." She turned to see the ghostly stone giant, still wearing his iridescent chlamys and white kilt and golden Greek style Helmet that concealed all of his face save his bright purple eyes and his long black braid that sat on his shoulder. "Theseus, I was wondering where you were. I'm glad to see you."
"And I you Kora. It is an honor to have you as our guest heir of Babylon. You do your namesake proud." He said turning to address the older mercury knight. "The labyrinth is safe so long as you do not wander off on your own."
"What Theseus means is that the maze shifts so you can get lost but a knight of Hyperborea can safely traverse it so as long as we stick together it'll be fine." She said walking into the courtyard of the acropolis where the towering bronze statue of the knight Abaris, a supposed legendary knight of Hyperborea, greeted them.
"If you have any questions feel free to ask, I'm sure either me or Theseus can answer them."

Babylon nodded. True or not, he could understand Hyperborea wanting to drop the subject. He supposed he should be flattered by how quick she'd been to bring it up - maybe that was a sign of trust, not a sign of flippancy. And after all she'd been through, he shouldn't have expected her to react to things in a way he'd consider appropriate anymore. (And appropriate behavior was entirely subjective, anyway.) At the sound of another voice, Babylon jumped a little. He turned towards the stone giant. "This is... your ancestor?" he asked Hyperborea. He was used to more human-looking ancestors, after all - but he was admittedly kind of sheltered when it came to rubbing elbows with the powerful and deceased. So: he bowed to the stone man. "It's my hope that I do," he said, biting back the urge to ask Theseus if he'd known Menachem, or to tell him about his return to the cauldron. He'd come here to accompany Hyperborea, not pester her ancestor. "I'd like you to show me around," he said. "If you say the labyrinth is safe, then I believe you."

"Yup, I guess there isn't much resemblance. Do you have an ancestor or are you a reincarnation?" She was curious since he'd brought it up.
"Anyways this the acropolis, over there is my ancestral home and there is the training hall for potential knights." She explained pointing to various buildings in the courtyard. She was used to being given the tour by Theseus so it was nice to be able to be the tour guide for a change. She looked back to see Theseus was hanging back behind them clearly satisfied to let Hyperborea continue speaking.
"And this" she said pointing to the largest building, the one that was over a football field in length. "Is the high temple of Apollon. It's where most of the Hyperboreans would come to worship the first knight of Hyperborea Apollon, who they considered a god. It was also where the current knight lived and where the entrance of labyrinth is." She led the way into the temple where they were greeted by the towering marble and gold statue of Apollon.
She walked to the large stone doors leading into the labyrinth. She had closed them after her last trip to her wonder so she placed her hand on the stone and let her magic flow into it and they began to slide back into the wall. She walked down the stairs and could see the shifting maze dimly lit by the glowing purple crystals in the wall.
"This is my labyrinth." She said before activating her aspect so that she could easily be seen. She took Babylon's hand and led him into the maze.

Babylon laughed - no, he thought, there was very little resemblance between the tiny girl beside her and her giant ancestor. The purple eyes, though, those might have been telling. He'd personally heard Virgo describe his own eyes as being Babylon blue, and she didn't do things without cause, so it didn't seem so out there that an eye color could persist across a thousand years. "I..." he began, and fell silent as they passed through the labyrinth's impressive doors. It seemed he would be explaining his trip to Hvergelmir sooner rather than later, he thought. "I had an ancestor," said Babylon. "Menachem. He taught me everything I know about the upkeep of my wonder, about our family's history... And then he told me that he starseed was still at Babylon somewhere, that he'd been standing a vigil for a thousand years waiting for the next knight, and now that he was confident in my training, he wanted to go to the cauldron so he could be reincarnated." He sighed - his constant fear was that the rest of the story would only inspire copycats. "So, uh, I shoved his starseed in my chest, carried it around for like two weeks while he used my body to finish up some business on Earth, nearly died, and then Hvergelmir helped me call for Cosmos and that's how I got these scars." He pointed, briefly, to the glowing lines on his face. "Theseus'll probably ask you to do the same for him someday," he said, "That's fine. But the moral of the story is don't go shoving other people's starseeds in your chest. It's a bad time. There are better ways to do things." But, hey, back to the situation at hand. "This is incredible," he said, falling into step beside Hyperborea. "Dang."

"Interesting. But don't worry I won't go shoving Theseus' starseed inside of me." She said with a laugh. Well at least she now knew the story of how her princess had saved Babylon now.
She led the mercury knight to the chamber where she had first found her signet ring. four stone statues of faceless knights holding tablets with Hyperborean writing on them, surrounding a stone circle on the ground and pedestal where her signet ring had been. Beyond the knight statues was a giant knight statue holding a scroll like the others, only the surface had a mirrored polish and more Hyperborean writing on it.
"This is where I found my signet ring. It was a place of meditation and reflection for the knights." she explained to Babylon who's face was awash in purple light from the crystals. "These four statues hold a philosophical poem from Apollon called The Laws, and this larger statue holds the creed of Hyperborean Knights."
She led the way forward eventually reaching a stairway downward. "This leads to the second floor, I just recently discovered it." She explained as she lead the way down. The walls became smoother and the crystals were now placed at regular intervals illuminating what looked like hieroglyphic pictures showing what Hyperborea assumed were stories of ancient Hyperborean knights.

Babylon followed Hyperborea, attention rapt but saying very little. He was going to let her lead this tour and do his best not to interrupt - she seemed to be doing fine hitting all the major talking points and keeping him from having questions. Still, he couldn't keep from asking for elaboration as they passed through the room with the statues. "What's the creed of the Hyperborean Knights?" he asked, assuming that her ancestor had gone over it with her. In the next room, he scanned the hieroglyphics and nodded along with her words. It was like getting a guided tour through an art museum - everything was terribly interesting, but it seemed weird to comment on it out loud. That would destroy the space's sacred silence.

Hyperborea paused when Babylon asked about the creed. "It was a poem every knight read before the city at the summit of the acropolis when he took up the mantle of knight. I asked Theseus to translate it for me once, according to him it reads: I pledge this day on my honor and my life to build and help preserve; Although I live my life apart from those that I must serve. The laws of hospitium I will obey in every thought and deed, I shall stand fast while others turn away, I shall uphold The Knight's Creed. I vow to heal the wrongs I see as long as I shall live. My heart will guide me faithfully and teach me how to give, I'll render aid as best I can to those who are in pain And by the strength of my own hand restore the peace again. The deeds of those who lived before, have bound my life to theirs. Their legends opened up the door and taught me how to care The touch of my Wonder's magic brings friendship, song and joy. It is upon that love has wrought and time cannot destroy. I swear to guard and keep the city defending all that's just, No force will ever bring it down, this is my sacred trust. My path is clear before me now, my choices all are made In Honor's name I take a vow to face life unafraid. Upon my soul I make a vow this light will never fade."
She took a breath, it was a long pledge and she wondered if the young knights of Hyperborea ever got tongue tied trying to say it before their city.
She continued the tour. After a bit of walking she reached a another stone door that she opened. the room inside looked like a pirate's treasure hoard with gold silver and jewels. "This is apparently one of the Hyperborean treasury rooms. Feel free to take a souvenir if you want." She said walking over to a golden jeweled drinking cup. She didn't really need all the treasure and she figured it was in the spirit of hospitium to offer her guest a nice gift.
"This is as far as I've explored so far, we can keep exploring if you want or we can head back."

That was... significantly longer than Babylon had been expecting, and much more rhyming. He wondered if it rhymed in the original Hyperborean, as well, and what kind of translation trickery had been necessary to make that happen. He wondered if he should applaud when she finished - it had been quite the performance - but decided she might think he was being sarcastic. So he said, "Wow, you've got that down pat," which was probably not better. As they neared the end of the known portion of the labyrinth, Babylon hesitated. Nothing at Hyperborea had struck him as explicitly dangerous, but they were in well-scouted territory. If the Labyrinth was hostile to outsiders in places, then he didn't want to be the one to find out (even if Theseus had said it was safe). On the other hand, he didn't want to seem disinterested... (He was starting to get the sense that he was one of the few friends Hyperborea had, and she relied on his support.) "Your call, really," he said. "I know how exhausting exploring can be. If you'd rather do it on your own time than try to interpret things to me as we go, we can go back."

She blushed. "Merci. I like to go over it in my head while I'm training. It helps me to think about what the mission of my ancestors was." She explained.
"Are you sure don't want anything? You could take it as a present for Avalon." She said holding out the golden drinking cup. She felt like it was right to give a gift plus she wanted to thank Babylon for all he had done for her.
"I guess we should head back, I've ended up walking around in circles for hours while exploring and I don't want to keep you out too late." She said while offering her hand for him to take.
