Where: Chittentown mainsquare When: Sometime after Bloodfest
---
Milieu hadn't seen Keinox in a long time. It worried the teen. So much of her life had been shattered and when it came down to it, Mili felt responsible. The young child had followed the scouts into battle, attempting to be a hero. Sighing, the tealblood decided the best idea was to check up on her, but she needed a reasonable request... Wait. Milieu smiled at the daggers that rested on her hip. Perfect.
Quote: Dearest Keinox,
I hope the days have kept you well. I have been thinking of you often. You were a talented companion during our trials and I would hope you would like to spar with me? I will be in Chittentown during ___ day. If this works for you, will you come and meet me? I look forward to it! See you in the main square,
Yours Truly,
Milieu Aojiro c3<
----
Milieu sat in the square at the destined time, her legs folded neatly. She had her daggers with her, and her satchel rested on her hip with her whiteboard, marker, and a few presents for Keinox. After they spared maybe they could chat and catch up?

Letters took a while to get up the steep slopes of Busthind, and longer still to reach the ever-adventuring Keionx as she sought some sense of inner balance and peace. Still, troll mail was as resilient and stubborn as the trolls themselves, and soon Milieu received a letter of her own. It was on normal paper and written with normal orange ink, but the writing itself was careful, almost decorative. It would almost be pompous if one did not know Keionx : Her accent may have left her speech for the most part but in her writing it was still very much present... Quote: Milieu,
If thou art well, then I beith well, as well. I hath been adventuring, travelling across Alternia in search of... quests... heroics... the meaning of life... I don't know... something, but I shall bringeth mine planet-weary feet to thine appointment with great joy. I shall be there, and would be honored to spar against one who hath protected me so bravely. I hath not forgotten. I never will. I had wanted to talk to you about...
I shall see thee soon,
Thy friend, Keionx Rutace There had been many scratchings and contemplation of what Keionx had wanted to say, and it never occurred to her that she could simply use another sheet of paper. She had been so eager to write and send the letter that she hadn't cared about any of that. Chittentown was a town of mixed memories and feelings, associated with people and places and events both terrible and beautiful. It was, in a way, a sacred place for her, where things kept beginning and ending. Not wanting to impose on Ephias without forewarning, she had stayed that day in a hotel. Perhaps she would let him know later on and see if he would spare a room and his comfortable lusus for a day or two. Or Sopor slime. That would be nice too. For now, though, she set out to the square to meet Milieu. Keionx hoped that they would have a nice spar, but she also burned with questions for Milieu – perhaps for Milieu more than any of the others in that group. Something about her, some strange dynamic of trust, made her feel that she could ask the mute troll anything she needed to. Spotting the tealblood sitting elegantly in the square, Keionx raised a hand in greeting, smiling happily. ”Hello!” she called, walking over quickly with efficient strides. Mili's mind drifted towards many subjects, a few dangerous eschewed in emotions that the teen just didn't want to divulge into at the moment. Pursing her lips, she took to staring at the sky idly. Maybe Kei... OH! The familiar voice and hello caught her attention. Perking up, she waved at the approaching teen, a broad smile across her face. As soon as Keinox was closer, Milieu stood and drew the orangeblood into her arms for a warm, tight hug.
She's grown now... Oh my. Not a little one anymore. That was amusing, and a depressing. Was this how Vremea felt upon seeing that Milieu was no longer a child? Pulling away from the hug, Milieu turned to her bag. Taking out the whiteboard she carefully scripted out the message
| Kei! I'm so glad to see you dear! It's been much to long. Thank you for meeting me. I got your letter. Good to see you still have kept your adorable accent. Shall we spar and then maybe catch up? |

Magician Arcana Mili goes first - Kei is such a gentletroll <3 Hugs were second nature to Keionx and, though this wasn't anything like Beastdad's lung-crushing muscular hugs, it still felt like home and safety and was returned in kind. ”It's good to see you.” she said. Though Keionx was reluctant to break the hug, it had to be done – if only to read the words that Milieu was saying. She nodded in agreement, ”Too long.” she said, not sure how she wanted to take the comment about her accent. She bit her lip for a moment, and then nodded. ”I think that's a good idea.” she said, unsheathing her sword and backing up a few paces. She could use the sparring – despair and confusion still chilled her bones, and a spar would be just the thing to warm her up and prepare her thinkpan for actual social fun things. As it was, just seeing her friend was enough to put a smile on her face. She bowed, gesturing, ”You first” she offered. Quote: Keionx HP: 20/20 Military Grade Weapon: 1d6+1 ---

Milieu nodded and took a position across from Kei, both daggers now in her hands. Stretching, the troll couldn't help but quirk a smile at the offer. Keinox was... Sweet. After a moments hesitation, Milieu lunged at Kei, striking a dagger against the shield before falling back as quickly as she came in. It was a simple feint, really, to see if she could get the other troll to open her guard.

Quote: Keionx HP: 20/20 Military Grade Weapon: 1d6+1 3 = HIT 4+1 = 5 Damage Dealt Keionx blocked the dagger strike on pure reflex alone, her muscles leading her directly into a fast combo of sword attacks designed to test her opponent's guard and then break it. She didn't even have to think about it – her body just moved as though this was second nature, which it was. When her thoughts finally caught up to her reflexes, she made a conscious effort to hold back, smiling sheepishly at the bright blood that now adorned her sword – she was sure Milieu was all right, but it was still odd to draw blood like that from someone she liked – this wasn't Etsali, after all. Then again, without pain there would be no gain, and she had gotten injured from her training before – very injured, sometimes. Surely Millie would not have offered this if she hadn't been ready for it too...

Fighting with daggers was definitely a disadvantage. Milieu wiped at the blood from her arm onto her clothes, considering the younger teens strengths and weaknesses. She was talented, but Milieu wondered just how much training in real battles Kei had. Were they mostly training? Because in a real battle... Things were not so neat or clean.
She moved back on the offense, slamming the steel daggers into the shield and parrying the thrusts. Carefully Milieu pushed her opponent towards the fountain, manipulating the environment to her needs. When they were close enough, the older troll abruptly kicked dust into the air at Kei, aiming to make her stumble into said fountain or at least to drop her guard. Furiously, she swung her blade and then dodged away. There was a twist of sickening glee at the orange on her weapon. It wasn't that she wanted to hurt Kei, goodness no. But battling was in her blood and as a higherblood it was a little more.. thrilling than it ought to have been.

Quote: Keionx HP: 13/20 Military Grade Weapon: 1d6+1 6+1=7 Damage Dealt Keionx knew, the moment she began to topple, that she had made a grave mistake – Beastdad had always admonished her to be careful about her surroundings, and she knew she frequently forgot his advice. Here, then, was another example of why she should listen. Keionx bit back a cry of pain at Mili's well-timed and aimed attack, managing to keep it to a hiss as she rolled out of the fountain and into an attack – clearly, Milieu was being very serious in her sparring, and so Keionx had to be serious too. Her attack scored powerfully, her gaze intense, her mind falling into the meditative rhythms of long sword practice.

Milieu got overly cocky and felt the next slash especially hard. Wincing, the tealblood moved back and looked at her bleeding arm. She needed to be more careful. Blindly fighting on the offensive was bad. She took her next moves slower and more methodically. Sadly, the blows were easily blocked. Damn, new strategy time.

Sword slash, block, slash again. Once Keionx fell into the long-remembered rhythm of swordfighting, her muscles took over. She had to force herself to remember that this was Milieu, not a practice dummy or a monster. She had to hold back from letting her pattern run to its conclusion.
Beneath the calm that came with the familiar activity of swordplay, however, was a frantic anxiety that Milieu would somehow be displeased. She wanted the tealblood's approval, even if the scouts still aroused complicated and confusing tangles of emotions for her.
She also was enjoying the battle, though she attempted to resist the delirious and glorious enjoyment that she had felt in her more innocent days. Attempted and only partially succeeded – she was enjoying herself beneath her calm, and was happy that she had come.

Another clash of blades sent Milieu's stamina tumbling. Panting heavily, she tried to keep her wits about her. There was no frown to be seen, despite the fatigue and near end of the battle. An overjoyed expression colored her face, her teeth shinning out of her black lipstick lips. Keinox was delightfully well trained and a good sparring partner.
Shifting her weight, Milieu was able to strike for once. Two hits this battle, goodness. She was rusty. One more blow and Milieu would be done. But surrendering was not in her nature.

Keionx feinted, slashing and dodging back, trying to invoke an opening in Mili's guard – she was good, but she was older and wiser so of course she was...

Milieu was ready for Kei's move. Perhaps being so close to losing had increased her attention? Or the fatigue of the other teen telegraphed her movements much sharper than before? Milieu drug in her opponent and when the time was right, struck violently with her blades.

Quote: Keionx HP: 1/20 Military Grade Weapon: 1d6+1 5 Damage Dealt Keionx's eyes widened and she gasped in sudden, surprised pain as Mili's blades scored a deep wound. It was Kei's own fault, she admonished herself, she should have been more vigilant and faster on her feet. Next time, she would be.
This time, however, she feinted at Milieu and then struck her with the flat of her sword, kicking out at Milieu's feet to knock her down. She struck again, knocking away the blades to level it at her foe.
”Touche.” she said, smiling after a moment.

Milieu blinked lazily. Well... She had been on her feet, hadn't see? When she pressed her chin to her chest there was a sharp, silver sword ready to greet her. Smiling, the tealblood nodded and gave Keionx a thumbs up. My, Kei had grown so much... her skills were tremendous. Milieu felt thankful that she had lasted as long as she had. After all, battling against a shield with daggers was no easy feat. Looks like I don't need to worry too much about her skills. Standing up, she brushed herself off. A grin still plastered her face. Really, this had been some fight and even if every muscle was very sore, she still appreciated it. Nodding towards the fountain with her chin, she waited to follow Keionx.
