Shadow Pokemon Round Up
[image pending]
Well isn't this fantastic. We come all the way to Slateport City to pull off a simple smuggling mission and things take a turn for the worse. It was suppose to be easy. An eccentric billionaire from Orre, a mister Massaguma, hired us to help smuggle a load of poached wild Pokemon from Hoenn to Orre on his state-of-the-art artificial environment ship (disguised as a cargo ship). His idea was to take the ship and Pokemon to Orre, dock it in Gateon Port, and use the ship as a breeding ground for the wild Pokemon to eventually release them into the wild and bring wild life back to Orre. Of course things did not go as planned.
We get the ship out of Slateport easily enough, breaking through HAZARD's blockade but would you know it just when we make it into international waters we detect a wild Shadow Pokemon on board the ship, a Gastly of all things. It didn't take long for the gaseous Pokemon to infect many other wild Pokemon on board in their various environment chambers, those infected infecting others. Needless to say almost the entire ship of Pokemon is infected and we lost track of the Gastly. Now we have an entire ship of uncaptured Shadow Pokemon making its way for Gateon Port and we sure as hell can't turn back to Hoenn.
Mister Massaguma however was alerted to the predicament and issued us a challenge for further reward. The challenge is simple, we are to capture as many of the Shadow Pokemon as possible before the ship makes port in Orre, using the ship's immense cache of Pokeballs to do so. Once the ship makes port however we have to bail as Mister Massaguma has already alerted the regional police about the situation and if we get caught things could get really ugly for us. Being an eccentric billionaire however he decided to make a game out of it. This should be interesting.
How to Participate:
The rules for the Shadow Pokemon Round Up are similar to Safari Contest rules. Pick one Pokemon to use in the contest (preferably Shadow, if not it will be instantly infected) and when you post your character looking for a Pokemon use the random number generator to find out what Pokemon your character finds. Set the lowest number to 1 and the highest to 150. Once your post goes through, check to see what number you got, then, look at the list of available Pokemon, at the bottom of this post, to see what Pokemon appeared.
Then, in your next post once the Pokemon has been decided, begin battling it all in one post. But before you post your battle, use the Random Number generator again to see if the capture was successful, setting the lowest to 1 and the highest to 10, however, different Pokeballs have different success rates depending on what Pokemon or area you are using them on/in.
Furthermore unlike in Safari Contests you are given five Pokeballs to start out and 3 Battle Points. The goal of this contest is to actually catch three Shadow Pokemon. At the end of the contest the three Shadow Pokemon you caught have their rarity (Stars) totaled for your final score and judging. Out of those three you catch you can choose only one to keep while the rest are given back to Mister Massaguma. You can catch more than three but you must then discard another you have caught to make room, so you can only 'carry' a total of three Shadow Pokemon with you in the contest.
Furthermore two Battle Points are earned every time you capture a Shadow Pokemon. You can use these points to purchase more or higher grade Pokeballs from Mister Massaguma's cache. Neat huh? Below are the success rates of the Pokeballs as usual plus how many BP they cost to purchase here. It should be noted any Pokeballs unused can not be kept after this contest.
----------
[Pokeball] 40% Success Rate on any Pokemon. (3 BP)
[Great Ball] 50% Success Rate on any Pokemon. (4 BP)
[Ultra Ball] 60% Success Rate on any Pokemon. (5 BP)
[Net Ball] 70% Success Rate on Bug and Water type Pokemon, 50% on all others. (6 BP)
[Dusk Ball] 70% Success Rate on Pokemon found in caves, 50% on anything else. Pokemon found in the cave environment room: Whismur, Absol, Sableye, Shuppet, Duskull, Mawile, Bagon, Makuhita, and Aron. (6 BP)
[Quick Ball] 70% Success Rate on the first Pokemon encountered, 50% on any other. (3 BP)
[Timer Ball] 80% Success Rate if it's your last Pokeball only, 50% on any prior. (7 BP)
[Repeat Ball] 80% Success Rate on a Pokemon if you encountered the Pokemon in your previous post, 50% if not. (6 BP)
[Heal Ball] 80% Success Rate on a Pokemon if you failed to capture it once already, 50% if not. (7 BP)
[Fast Ball] 70% Success Rate on a fast Pokemon. (6 BP)
[Heavy Ball] 70% Success Rate on a heavy Pokemon. (6 BP)
[Level Ball] 70% Success Rate on a first stage Pokemon (Wurmple, Wynaut, etc.), 50% on all others. (6 BP)
[Love Ball] 70% Success Rate on a Pokemon with only a single gender, 50% on all others. (6 BP)
[Lure Ball] 70% Success Rate on a Pokemon fished out of the water in the pool. (Carvanha, Wailmer, etc.)
[Friend Ball] 70% Success Rate on a Pokemon that evolves with happiness. (6 BP)
For success rates of 50%, you must receive one of the following numbers from the Random Number generator to capture the Pokemon: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5
For success rates of 60%, you must receive one of the following numbers from the Random Number generator to capture the Pokemon: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6
For success rates of 70%, you must receive one of the following numbers from the Random Number generator to capture the Pokemon: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7
For success rates of 80%, you must receive one of the following numbers from the Random Number generator to capture the Pokemon: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8
For success rates of 90%, you must receive one of the following numbers from the Random Number generator to capture the Pokemon: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9
As long as you still have Pokeballs you may continue to hunt and capture Shadow Pokemon until you get one you are comfortable with your three Shadow Pokemon. If you catch three Shadow Pokemon, but then choose to catch another, you must fork over Shadow Pokemon you caught to the ship's Elgyem who will teleport it away. Once you run out of Pokeballs your time is up and the three Shadow Pokemon you caught will be judged.
When everyone is done (a specified time will be given when the contest will end, regardless if others are done) all Pokemon caught will be judged. Each group of Shadow Pokemon will be judged in separate posts where a random number will be used to judge their quality, between 1 and 5 and the number it lands on will be its quality. The other stat taken into consideration are the Pokemon's rarity, its species, the rarity of the three being tallied up. A rather common Pokemon like Wurmple won't give as much points as a Pokemon like Beldum would give much more. You'll also be graded on your performance, that is how well you write out your battles and such. Someone who just writes one line for a capture won't receive many points.
Contestant Prizes:
Prizes will be given out to the top three contestants. The top three are allowed to either keep the Pokemon they caught, or take a prize of Snag Coins. The first place contestant may keep both the Pokemon and take the Snag Coins, if he/she so chooses to do so. Note, that the Pokemon still counts towards your rank limit.
1st place prize: 10 Snag Coins or 1 Snag Emblem.
2nd place prize: 8 Snag Coins.
3rd place prize: 6 Snag Coins.
All participants who did not place receive 3 Snag Coins as a consolation prize and get to keep one captured Shadow Pokemon of their choosing. Furthermore anyone who manages to capture three Shadow Pokemon get an additional 5 Snag Coins!
Also, if you use a Pokemon that's not fully evolved that Pokemon will earn Evolution Points at the end of the contest depending on how many Pokemon it knocked out. Posts that are incredibly short (Misdreavus used Thundershock and knocked out the Magikarp.) won't be counted. But that doesn't mean they all have to be novels, just put in some effort.
Huh, also seems like Shadow Pokemon gain some sort of mysterious points for participating as well, weird.
And that's it! Get out there and round them up!
