Sometimes it didn't pay to be related to failure. Janga tried hard not to let his heritage get the better of him, but today... today was not going to be one of his wins. He had been patrolling around, just making sure nothing unsavory roamed the borders of the pride, when he happened to slip down a small incline he hadn't seen ahead of him. He had ended up rolling down the short hill, landing hard on his bottom at the base.

But he hadn't landed on solid ground. Instead, he had just happened to land right on what must have been a hare of merekat hole. It had collapsed enough to cave in around his bottom, leaving him stuck in a very awkward sitting position, his back legs played out in front of him. Try though he did to pull himself out, he was stuck.

And more than a little embarrassed to have to call for help.

Paricherher was busy gathering as much mud and ingredients for face and body paint as she could conceivably carry with her back to her den. She had gotten the wild idea to paint her body while on a hunt last week to better blend in with the natural world around her. Especially the setting sun colors. Oh! To be a sun set would be a magnificent thing! In lieu of that, painting herself to match it was her new goal. And then maybe she could try to move like the colors as they faded. OH! THAT would be a good show to put on! Even if it was just for the meerkats in the area.

Pari hummed as she gathered a few pieces of red and orange and purple flowers and barks and muds that would hopefully blend into the correct palette. But even if it didn't, Paricherher knew she would still be creating art AND fun. What more could she want, really? She had the rest of the day to figure it out before dusk and then she would have to wash it all off for her hunting shift in the morning.

"Ghummian Hangmms hmp ahmmmm, hmmmm mmm hm mhm mmmmm LOOOOOOVE!" Pari sang out loudly, uncaring of anyone that could be around her. Because after all, she had a good singing voice, and meerkats should know when a talented lioness was close by as long as she wasn't hunting them...

Janga blinked when he heard something not far from him. It sounds like... singing? Though he couldn't really figure out what the words were, he could definitely here a female voice not far from him. Hopefully it was a lioness, and not another animal that might be less inclined to help him out. Hyenas probably weren't big on lending a paw.

With good reason, he supposed.

"Um... hello?" He called out loudly, hoping to get the attention of whatever it was. even if it might end up being a threat, not saying anything was even worse than taking the risk. He would DEFINITELY remain stuck there if he did nothing at all,so he really didn't have much choice in the matter. At least the voice didn't sound particularly angry or evil. "Can you hear me? Hello? I, um, I'm a little bit stuck!"

Pari's humming drowned out everything but her thoughts, but she paused long enough to her the tail end of the call for help. Was a meerkat stuck? And was it really smart of the meerkat to call out for help in a land dominated by lions and hyenas? Well, obviously it was a meerkat, so probably not. But Paricherher put down her collected bits and pieces of things for her project that she could always pick up later or some other day. "Hello?" She called, trying to pin point where the voice had come from. "Where are you? Can you call out again so I can find yo easier?"

Pari started to wonder away from the meerkat den that was near by. Because she seriously doubted that a meerkat would be stuck THERE. It was tiny and meerkats were tiny as well. So that was just silly if she would assume that. "Am I getting warm to where you are?"

He could hear the voice calling back to him- she was definitely close by! "Oh! I'm over here! There's a meerkat or hare den near here and I got stuck in one of their holes! I, uh, I can't get my butt out!" He knew it would be embarrassing when she finally found him one way or another- there was no point in trying to hide what had happened to him.

Maybe it would soften the amount of laughter he was subjected to if she learned what she was going to find first.

He heard her speak again, and she sounds like she was getting closer to him. Oh, good. Barring anything else going horribly wrong, he was very likely to be pulled free from the hole without having to waste hours there! That was just what he would have hoped for. "You're getting closer!" He called back, "I think you're just around the bend now!"

"Oh! Good!" Pari shouted back. As she sped up to round the bend. And stopped short when she spotted a black lion truly stuck, his limbs all out of the hole that had gotten him. She tilted her head and squinted in bafflement. How did he get in that position.

"Wow. When you said butt, you really meant butt, huh? I thought you just meant you hind parts ... all of them ..." Pari walked closer still with a look of bafflement on her face. Wow.

"Ummm. Well. Huh." ..... Pari cleared her throat, shook her head, and smiled at the lion. "Well, no worries. Let's get you out of there before something nasty like a black mamba bites your bite to make the situation deadly."

Pari circled the stuck lion, trying to look for a good place to push, pull or tug that wouldn't hurt him. With no ideas, Pari got behind the lion, planted his lower spine between her neck and shoulder muscle and prepared to push. "Sorry in advance. Just in case." Pari started to shove.

Well, she wasn't laughing when she found him, but she was looking very confused at what she saw. He supposed that was only natural- he probably looked more than a little ridiculous. He was actually glad he couldn't see himself. The embarrassment would have been too much to take.

"Yup... I rolled down a hill and got stuck... like this." He chuckled lightly, sighing heavily shortly after. This was the life of a clumsy relative of the God of Failure.

It was in his blood.

"Black Mamba?! You don't think this is a snake den, do you?!" He watched her move around behind him, getting ready as she started to push him. He used his front paws to claw at the ground, which he had been doing before, to try and pull himself free from the hole. He hadn't managed it before, but with the additional force on his back, he did manage to pop free after a moment, flopping forward onto the floor.

Pari tried to shake her head to reassure the lion. "No." She grunted as she pushed. "I don't really think that. Otherwise, you would have been bitten and probably dead by now." Pari's paws barely found traction in the dirt around the hole, slowly making long runs in them as she used the ground to help push the lion out of the hole. "Not only didn't a pride member come to warn me, which they usually do, because many know I like being around the border. But mambas are super territorial. It wouldn't have waited very long to strike."

Pari smiled a little at the mental image of the lion rolling down a hill and then getting stuck. It did sound funny now that he was laughing himself. And Pari didn't like laughing at people. She liked laughing with people. Until he had laughed, Pari didn't even see it as a funny haha situation. It was a funny what are the odds situation. And what are the odds rarely got a chuckle out of her. Her smile grew bigger as she felt the lion pop free from his stuck situation.

And was still smiling as the dirt around her paws betrayed her, tumbling her into the same hole that had gotten the lion. Only it was the other way around. Her back legs, tail and butt stuck up into the air as her forelegs and head got stuck in the hole. Chuckling at the situation good heartedly, Pari shouted to be heard by the lion. "I can say with all honesty that this is DEFINITELY NOT A SNAKE DEN!" Because there was a confused and frightened bunny family staring at her. "Hello there. Don't mind me. I'm not hungry at all. Just stuck." She assured them.

As the bunnies scampered away down endless tunnels, Pari started to picture what she must look like. If she could have collapsed in laughter, she would have, but as it was she lost her breath for a few heart beats as she pictured herself with her butt up in the air. As she caught her breath again, she shouted up again. "WHAT DO I LOOK LIKE?! WHAT DO I LOOK LIKE?!"

Janga had hit the dirt nose-first. He closed his eyes, a flash of light passing through his vision. For a split second, he saw it- Pari getting stuck in the same hole he had gotten stuck into. With a gasp, he opened his eyes, turning his head to warn. But he found he was already too late- he saw back legs and a rump up in the air, the rest of her under the ground. Boy, he had a big butt if she fit in that small hole! Then again, she was a lioness. Smaller by design, in most cases.

Darn visions- they never happened when they could be of some USE to him.

He could hear her laughing in there, and telling him that it wasn't a snake den. Clearly she could see what was down there with her- it even sounded like she was talking to them! He chuckled faintly, but only because it seemed like she was enjoying herself. Otherwise, it probably would have been a more serious situation.

"You look like half of you is missing! Hang on, I'll dig around you. It should give you enough room to push out." He couldn't imagine the hole was that deep- not the top of it, anyway. He had been able to feel the ground with most of his tail. He moved forward, digging next to her so the dirt would loosen up again.

"Alright, do you think you can push out? I would hate to pull you by your tail or legs... but I will if you can't manage it!"

Pari stayed firmly where she was. Not because she couldn't get out but because she refused. At least not until Janga gave her a better description of what she looked like! Half of her missing. How was that going to get anyone to laugh when she told them the story of her ending up butt to the sky like this? Of course she wouldn't mention Janga if he wasn't comfortable with that, but that didn't mean she wasn't going to go and tell her sisters and brothers how she had ended up with her upper body stuck in a bunny den.

She wasn't normally a stubborn lioness by nature, but really. She shook her head and shouted up again. "Not until you REALLY tell me what I look like! Describe it to me!"

Paricherher wiggled and manuevered to circle in the little hole so her head could at least face in the direction of where she thought Janga was. "I can't go and tell people that I looked like I was half missing! They won't get it! Or how hilarious this is!"

Janga blinked. "H-huh?"

He looked down at the rump, very confused. "You want me to describe it before you come out? I don't... I don't really know how to describe it! I'm not funny! I just fall over a lot and make messes!" He was feeling a little flustered now, unsure of how to deal with the situation. When it came to making things funny... he did that by accident only.

Huffing, he sat himself down near her, watching her, or what he could see of her, carefully.

"Um. You look... uh... like a purple mountain? I don't know! I'm sorry! if you want me to describe it, you might be stuck in there forever!!" He pouted and watched her, hoping she would come out on her own. He really didn't want to pull her out by her tail, but she needed to get out! What if something bad happened? Not that he could think of anything bad, but still.

Pari let out a sigh as the stubbornness all but evaporated. She didn't like the sound of Janga's tone. And she had no desire to make him continue to have it. Stepping carefully, Pari pushed herself out of the hole rather easily since Janga had been kind enough to dig around it. "I bet I looked like ostrich with it's head buried in the ground. Or a badger dancing with a snake." Pari confided as she collapsed next to Jango.

"Are you okay, now?" She asked from her reclined position. Pari craned her neck to look at the lion and make sure she didn't see any injuries or wounds are anything. "Um ... I think - I think you might have something stuck to your rump ... Maybe? I can't see very well from here."

Pari stretched out before getting up to stand. She went over to look at the lion's rump to check out if she really had seen something or not.

Janga frowned. He nodded as she said what she might have looked like, though he was a little embarrassed that he hadn't come up with anything. Considering he had also been stuck with his butt in the ground and hadn't managed to help her out at all, he was pretty much a flustered mess at that point. But such things happened to him every now and again- he let himself get a bit worked up at times.

She moved to look at his butt again, and the anxious lion jumped away, moving back towards the rest of the pridelands.

"N-no no! I think I'm okay. I should get going, though! I, uh, really need to get home to see how my family is! It was nice meeting you! And, um, I'm sorry about all the trouble!" He darted off at that, scampering away to escape. Not really to escape HER however. More, to escape his own foolishness and how humiliated he was feeling for his multiple failures.

The Hadaya blood proved strong today.

FIN!

Pari watched as her rescuee come rescuer darted away. As she watched him go, she really really hoped there wasn't anything on his rump. At least nothing more than mud. Mud was easy to clean and to Paricherher's mind, dead useful. Shaking her head and laughing at herself and the image she must have been after falling into the hole like that, Pari made her way back to the materials she had been collecting. She decided to head home and tell her day's events to her family. Her art piece could always wait another day or two to get ALL of the material and actually get to do it. But for now, this was more than enough to entertain herself and her friends and family. A story only half her's to tell so that would be the only part she WOULD tell. Janga her rescuer. Not her rescuee.
