About a day had gone by since he'd met and exchanged words with Nifelhel, and then Glitnir. Now, it was evening in the park, with fireflies beginning to emerge and Lorne sitting at the edge of a bench. He was trying hard not to think about what had happened in this place not so long enough, echoes of Ploutonion's scream echoing in his mind alongside the words of guidance he'd recieved from his fellow knights.

They never knew what to expect from these places they were connected to; even if Methone's had turned out to be stunning, there was no telling what Mont Blonc might be. (Well, okay, he could fairly safely guess there was possibly, probably a mountain involved. That was about all he had to go by.) For all he knew, it was dangerous. - he really hoped it wasn't. He hoped it was beautiful, too. He wanted it to be a place to cherish and care for, a place he could love.

The question of whether or not to invite Nadia - Methone - was less of a question of whether to ask and more a question of timing. She had her assessment coming up, after all. The last shot.

He was eager to go. But he'd waited this long, he'd resolved - she had taken him to her planet with her when she'd gone for the first time. Even if he didn't want to force her, he wanted her to be there for his first time. He took a deep breath, and at least this time didn't feel as anxious about texting her; it was getting easier.

Hey, Nadia, are you busy tonight?
PostPosted: Tue Jul 14, 2015 3:45 pm

As Lorne thought, Nadia was lake sweat deep in practicing, fine tuning her dance. It had to be perfect. The moves had to be perfect, and classic. With enough emotion and care and precise leg and arm movement.

She stretched, because she felt no pain. Her music blared, thankfully the neighbors didn't care. She was soaked from head to foot in effort.

She almost didn't hear the phone, if it hadn't been for the break in music and her leg slowly dropping down to the ground.

She turned the music down.

"Aw Lorne, you cutie pie." She looked at the time. She could do with a break, and some loving. Lots of his innocent loving.

Never too busy for you handsome. What's on your mind?

The tiny rush of excitement he felt every time he heard from Nadia rushed through him, and it was late enough that no one noticed the way he promptly sat straight on the bench in a way that made him bounce.

He tried to think of how to say it, because bombarding her with a wall of text wasn't exactly the way to go and he always got irrationally paranoid about texting too much from his normal phone. (Were negaverse officers versed in text hacking? - who knew, really?)

In this case though, really, there were only so many ways to say it. And he really needed to say it.

Met someone like me, and he told me how to get to my Wonder. Do you wanna come?

Sure! Tell me where you are, I'll come to you.

She quickly stripped, stepping into the shower before putting on a simple outfit. After seeing his location on the phone, she powered up to Methone and headed to him.

She would find him on the bench.

"Hey there Handsome. I'm looking for this really cute guy, about um-" She smiled, holding her head over her, "This tall? Dark locks, dreamy eyes." She took a seat next to him. "Tells me he wants to show me his wonder." She waggled her eyebrows at him.

He'd taken a deep breath and quickly pinged back his location in the park (along with some little blurb about how he couldn't wait to see her), which left him nothing to do but get comfortable on that bench while he waited.

He wasn't impatient, but he was restless as he tilted his head back and stared at the stars, envisioning the endless possibilities that would finally be put to rest tonight. - god he hoped this Wonder travel thing worked the way it was supposed to. Imagine he got her all the way out there and then it just didn't work.

Lorne's gaze was drawn sharply back down to earth when he heard Methone's voice. He jumped by reflex, but a smile quickly blossomed on his face. "Hmmm, " and he feigned thoughtful, tapping his chin with a finger. "I don't know if I'd say, uh, cute, but there was this gangly looking guy that passed by awhile ago - real awkward type - " he teased, getting to his feet and summoning his pen to his hand.

"He was uhm, looking for this really lovely girl, and -- oh, you know, " and he made the shirt to Mont Blonc, laughing a little helplessly at his attempt. God, would flirting ever get easier? "Hey you. - thanks for coming."

"Yeah? Really lovely girl?" Methone crossed her legs, "Be careful there Handsome, I might get jealous!" She laughed again before pushing herself up and into his arms.

"I hear we are going to Mont Blanc." She wrapped her arms loosely around his waist. "I'm really excited." She leaned up and kissed his chin.

"I'm glad you found someone to help you though Handsome. I haven't been able to get ahold of Ash..." She paused, "We...there was....something happened. She needs some space."

She didn't let her falter anymore.

Thank goodness she was willing to play along - she pushed his boundaries, yeah, teased him. But when it came to little prickles of insecurity from silly things, he wondered if she realized how much better she made him feel. For that, when Methone was in his arms, he hugged her a little extra tight as he laughed again.

"We are - hopefully, " and hearing she was excited made Mont Blonc even more enthusiastic about the whole thing, flushing just faintly at the sensation of her lips on his chin. If there was an off-switch for that, he'd love to find it. "Apparently I've been sort of, uhm, super over-thinking it, " he admitted sheepishly, ducking his head a little so his hair fell over his eye.

When she mentioned Ash, though, he curbed his enthusiasm for a minute, brow furrowing and a small frown on his lips as he bought his hand up to gently cup Methone's cheek. "Is everything - d-do you want to talk about it?" he asked softly.

"You over think a lot of things, I've noticed." She shrugged, "But it doesn't diminish your charm, or the fact that I find it endearing." She laughed again, reaching up to brush his hair away from his eyes.

"No." She added, "It's not something I'm really fond of discussing." And it wasn't her place to keep talking about.

"Please." She held his face, "I don't want to worry you, I'm sorry I even brought it up. I want you to focus on this journey! This is a big step for you Monty...." she breathed in, "Are you ready?" She looked around, nervously at first.

"We're going to saturn." She pursued her lips. "Our saturn..."

His eyes brightened as he looked at her, warmth spilling through his chest and up into his face. His familiar sheepish smile took hold before he leaned down to kiss the edge of her lips. "You're too nice to me - watch, I'm going to get a big head one day, " he warned in a playfully chiding voice. (Although really, could anyone imagine him with an ego?)

Mont Blonc nodded his understand, then made a face, mortified that he'd made her apologize for saying something. "Nononono, " he fired off in rapid succession, shaking his head. "Don't say you're sorry, please, I - " His voice got a little loud without him realizing it, and he cringed. "I mean, I - I just, I - don't ever be sorry, I just - I'll always listen, that's all, " and his gaze dropped, cheeks flushed again. "It's okay if, if you don't want to say, I'm not upset at all, I just - you know, " and he sort of trailed off, clearing his throat and getting back into the swing of a smile. He didn't want to make her feel any worse about being honest.

"I am beyond ready, " he said, lifting his head a little higher and letting her words wash over him, his heart pounding. Even if he knew he was supposed to be calm for this, he felt almost giddy. He shut his eyes, took in a shaky breath, and tried to calm himself down, sliding an arm around Methone again to tug her close and clutching his pen in the other hand - desperately hoping he didn't mess this up.

"I pledge my life and loyalty to Saturn, and to Mont Blonc.
I humbly request your aid, so that in return I may give you mine."

When Mont Blonc opened his eyes, it was to a world of monochrome: black, white, and mostly varying shades of gray. (Methone seemed all the more vivid for it.) The sky appeared to be a dull slate gray with no sign of the stars above, and it was... snowing? No, but it was - the cold never bothered them much, but he could tell, it wasn't cold at all here. Frowning, he caught a few of the tiny flakes in the palm of his hand and rubbed them. On a closer look, they, too, were gray - just much lighter. "Ash...?"

His eyes trailed up. There was a hazy fog hanging in the air, obscuring anything that lay too far off. But there was enough to see the beginnings of an incline before them, and the vague outline of something much more massive lay ahead. They were standing at the foot of his mountain.

There was not a sound. No wind. No nothing.

"It'd be good for you." She stopped, as he gave her a tiny kiss on her lips. Her heart fluttered, each and every time he did something small like that. She wasn't quite ready to tell him that, it was still something she was....shoving deep down. It was easy to be flirty. It was a whole other matter to have feelings.

"I know Handsome. Because you are terribly good." She held him a little tighter, "One day, I will tell you. I'm just waiting..." for her. For them. Whatever the end was.

His words were harder then her press of the button but...she also thought it was fitting.

His world, after they had come to it, been a vast different world then her own. Monochrome. Black and bleak and white and starch. She felt the rain on her skin, like snow, but it also felt like...

"It is..." She held out her hand for it, staring up to the sky. It collected in her hand, then smudge a little. She didn't seemed bother by the sound...or the lack of it. "Is that....a mountain?" She covered her eyes, looking up at it.

There were no words, but the look on his face said it all: he was fine with waiting. Even if he wasn't really so good... he was if nothing else a patient man, and he would be more than happy to wait for anything she had to give. Whether they were intimate or not.

"I... think it is, " he remarked, trying to combat the cool dread seeping up into his chest. Not only for the place itself, but - why did he sound so unsure? Why didn't he feel anything else? An ash caught on his lashes as he stared up and he rubbed it away, leaving a tiny streak of gray above his eye.

His legs felt heavy. But he still coaxed them to move, regaining his smile, trying to recapture the enthusiasm he'd felt just moments before as he took Methone's hand. "I suppose we'd better take a long, huh? - not too far though, " because mountains could be treacherous. Although the further they walked, the more it became apparent that there were many paths to take. How many led to dead ends or rocky pitfalls further up, he didn't know... but the beginning of the ascent was relatively smooth in any case.

Well. Sort of. Some mounds began to appear in their path, although there weren't many. They were small, oddly shaped, seemingly random. Had the passage of time done that? - but it seemed so... the dread prickled in his chest again and he tightened his hold on her.

There was something up ahead at last, in a particular large face of the black stone. It was an archway with hounds' faces carved into either side, as though they were snarling a warning. Somehow the inside was even darker than the stone.

Methone kept her hand tight in his hand, squeezing it as a way to reassure him, just as he reassured her.

"I would love to talk a walk..." Through Ash, and dust and silence. She hummed quietly next to him, as if to ease him. She looked at the mounds, and the surrounding but most of it was hazy in the ash and dust.

As they walked further along, she clung a little bit closer to him. It wasn't scary....She knew what Saturn was like though. Death and Rebirth and Silence and Lights.

The archway though surprised her and she let him go, running over to the dogs and brushing them off. "Look at these! Terrifying."

Her humming did the trick, soothing his frayed nerves enough to be able to cope with the oppressive silence. They surged again when she ran over to the archway to clear off the dogs, and he hurried his pace to catch up with her, kicking up ash as he went.

Crunch.

Something gave way beneath his foot and he jumped, easing away from the raised mound he'd managed to step right into. Crunch? What - ? His curiosity won out over his dread and he crept closer, leaning down to brush the ash away with his fingers.

When Mont Blonc realized it was the crushed remnants of a human skull staring back at him, he gave an audible yelp of alarm, backing away from it hurriedly. Another audible crunch sounded from underfoot. He didn't even bother looking down this time, just beelined his way towards the archway's entrance. His face was noticeably pale, shaken. "Those are... those mounds, they're all..."

She was totally checking out the dogs in all their intricate designs. They seemed like guardians to the underworld, and she peeked her head into the dark abyss they guarded. Of course there was nothing there she could see, and she was sorely tempted to light the place up with her magic.

But Monty was rushing over to her, and she turned her head to look at him.

"Calm down handsome, it's okay there. Calm down." She reached over, looking down at his form. He wasn't hurt. and he was saying something about mounds...

"The mounds?" She narrowed her eyes and went over to one, crouching down and brushing ash away from some. At some point, she was able to make out something white and picked it up. "Oh." She looked at the attached skeleton arm. She didn't want to be rude, and it was extremely creepy with ash and all the silence. It was like a horror movie but....

But she couldn't help but smile at him. Then she waved the hand at him.

"Hello Monty!" She set the bones down, "Rest in peace, whoever you are. Sorry to desecrate your grave." She stood up now, brushing her ash off. "Are you going to be okay handsome? Do you still want to keep going?" She was totally interested in that darkened space.

Also not very dissuaded by morbid things it seemed either.

Words caught in the page's throat like it was full of ash as he gestured to the mounds and then froze as Methone made her way towards the last one, his stomach flipping and dropping and basically winning an Olympic gold metal or two. He wished he'd held onto her arm or something, kept her from --

-- waving the arm at him like a prop, smiling. His jaw dropped.

Methone was eternally full of surprises.

He tried to collect himself, straightening up and clearing his throat and putting his hand on her shoulder, steadying himself. "This - doesn't bother you?" he asked with a weak smile. "Really?" He sounded vaguely impressed; for his part, he just... it sounded pathetic for a page of Saturn, but things like this just...

There were more of these mounds. He didn't know it for a fact, but he just... a feeling, vaguely? Was that one of those Wonder things? He didn't know how many, he didn't know why, but --

"The dead don't lay inside, " he said suddenly, then flushed, blinking once or twice as he looked at Methone. "I think. But. Doesn't that seem a little backwards?"
