Aside from the excursion with Methone, Mont Blonc hadn't seen much action for the past few days. After what had happened to Ploutonion... he hadn't given up, but he needed some time. What if another distress call came through? Could he take another failure like the last two? What if - all the what ifs in the world could have stopped him.
But he couldn't let that happen. Sitting around at home wasn't going to change anything, now was it? So the page was determined to get back into action, do something productive.
The ache of Ploutonion's corruption was still heavy on his heart, though. It wasn't even that he'd known him that well, it was just - he'd been the only other page of Saturn Mont Blonc even knew. Even if Aegir and Methone would probably let him have it if he said anything, he felt so useless compared to the rest of his team. How was he supposed to fix that?
He wondered down one of the alleys, but cautiously - even if he found a youma or a negaverse agent along the way, what would he even do about it, honestly? - try his best, he told himself. About all he could do.

Niflhel was leaning on one of the fire escape balconies looking over the shorter buildings when he felt another knight's signature down below. He glanced down arms rested on the railing to see who it was.
"Well, what do we have here?" He asked curiously as he swiftly jumped from the escape he was at, bounced off the opposing building to a lower, closer escape balcony. Obviously Niflhel had practice at this, almost like the kung-fu movie moves. It looked as if he was examining the other even from the distance he was at. Leaning once again on his new perch, arms over the railing.
"If I didn't know better I'd assume you were another Saturn Knight." His voice held a touch of amusement in the sincerity of it. "What an interesting coincidence."

Mont Blonc thought he heard something - and he most definitely sensed something (sorry, someone) powerful. A knight, he rationed quickly, but still gave a start as he looked up and saw the stranger pulling smooth, expert level moves that had him in awe. Even with the enhanced strength and stamina of a page, he couldn't imagine himself doing anything like that. He hadn't even come close.
Familiar anxiety welled up in him when the other man addressed him, but when he mentioned Saturn, everything in the page's face chance. He went from apprehensive to enthused, yellow eyes alight with delight. "Yes, I - yes, yes it is!" he called back, smiling from ear to ear as he trotted closer to the balcony. "I'm Mont Blonc, page of - you know, " of course he knew, he'd been the one to notice first. "And you are?"

Niflhel watched the other as the page trotted up nearer to him. He gave a small smile before jumping up and over the railing to land on the pavement, since he'd managed a balcony two stories away from the ground. "Niflhel, Knight of Saturn." He answered looking over the younger page with arms crossed.
It was as if he was accessing the page in front of him. "Nice to meet you Mont Blonc." He replied as he stood there, before walking around the other for a second. He'd recognize the colors anywhere of a fellow knight despite them being varied in hues and range. "What brings you out this nice evening?" He finally asked as he settled to lean on one of the alley walls.
Niflhel had been doing this too long. He felt like he knew the answer to the question he asked but he had quarried it anyways. Even if it wasn't the under lying answer was because of chaos. Though Niflhel's serious face didn't show it, he was pretty pleased to meet a fellow Saturn knight. Though he didn't truly believe any of them were any different, they all started out as lost baby pages, no matter who's princessdom they were under.

See, when Mont Blonc envisioned what it was to be a knight - the mental image fell less in line with him brandishing a pen and sporting a bare stomach than it did with this man, clearly confident and elaborately dressed and just - wow. How much work would it take to become someone like that?
A lot, he told himself rather bluntly. A road he had to idea how to take. He fidgeted subconsciously under the knight's gaze, feeling smaller than he was - standing smaller than he was. But he tried not to let his shortcomings get the better of him; hey, there was a full blown knight here after all. One like him.
He didn't know exactly why he was so drawn to his fellow knights of Saturn. Like, he got that it was probably a planet thing, but... the pull was intensely strong.
"Me? I, uh - just patrolling, sort of, " and he wanted to ask Niflhel things, so many things. But he didn't want to come off as rude or demanding; they'd only just exchanged names after all. "And how about you?"

Niflhel gave a small chuckle as he finally leaned on one of the walls of the alleyway arms crossed. "Ah yeah, so find anything interesting while you're patrolling?" He asked curiously. Honestly he hadn't been seriously patrolling in a while, he just sort of let things come to him. That might have been not the best way to do things but for the longest time he had stopped caring.
The knight gave a soft sigh grimacing at the thought of how uncaring he'd become while Polaris wasn't around. "I was waiting to see what was lurking in the shadows." He answered with a shrug, "sometimes the best things come to those who wait, after all." Yes, that was right, he was waiting for the best things to come to him. That's what he'd been doing.
He was leaning there looking at the page, man how long had it been since he'd been a tiny pagelet?

Could Niflhel have radiated any more waves of cool collectedness if he tried? - He didn't look much older, but he certainly seemed it. How long had he been a knight for? - how had he known what to do? Had someone shown him, or had he just known?
"Interesting... " Mont Blonc shrugged his shoulders in a helpless sort of way with a small, unsure smile. "Not tonight. Aside from you, anyway." This was more than just 'interesting', it was a chance he'd been waiting and hoping for for months now. "That's how it's been, though. Either nothing happens, I meet someone new, or everything just goes to hell. You know how it is." Look at Niflhel standing there, talking about stalking lurkers in the shadows. Of course he knew how it was.
Best things come to those who wait. "S-speaking of, waiting that is... " Mont Blonc sounded as hesitant and unsure as he felt, but there was an undeniable little trill of excitement. He hoped this went all. He hoped Niflhel wouldn't be annoyed. "I've been waiting a long time now, to... to meet another knight like me, and... "
He took a deep breath, and tried not to look or sound desperate or anything. "I understand if you're busy, but... if you wouldn't mind, I - I have some questions, about this I mean. Being a knight of Saturn. And I haven't really been able to find anyone like - well, there was someone, but he's - he's not around anymore, and - would it be okay if I asked you some things?"
That took much longer than it should have. Way to get right to the point, Mont Blonc thought to himself with a grimace. Then after a moment, finally thought to add, "Please?"

There was the fainest hint of a smile behind his seriousness as he listened to the page. Things were changing indeed, as he always use to be just a ball of seriousness when it came to anyone but Polaris. He nodded listening to the page, "Yup, that's how it goes." He answered.
He stood there oddly patient with the page as he tripped over asking him if he could ask questions. The knight waved the question slightly, "You just asked me one," He said in a serious but teasing tone, and gave a chuckle. "Anyways, go ahead ask. I'll answer if I can; however, if I can't don't be disappointed. Not everyone has all the answers and no one ever will. Though well maybe the code has them but he won't tell."
He shrugged softly as he waited to see what the page was going to ask first.

"Oh, I - " It was a joke. Oh god, Monty, loosen up, he thought to himself with a sheepish smile and a soft laugh. It really just did - it meant a lot to him to finally be facing down one of their own. Irrational and a little silly, yes, but...
He made a slight face at the mention of the Code, thinking back to one time it'd borrowed his voice to get its point across. Even then, he didn't really know enough about it to really understand it beyond faceless entity that had some sort of bearing of people like him. One of many things about being a page that escaped him, really. But there were more pressing concerns here. "No, no, of course not, just - I'm almost positive that I'm overthinking this whole thing, but I don't really have anyone else to ask, and - "
The page looked down and flushed, his hair hanging in his face as he asked, "How... do I actually... get to my Wonder? I've been wanting to go and see what it's about, but... I'm sorry." There really wasn't anything to apologize for, but he was embarrassed and that was the default when it came to mortification.

Niflhel's brow lofted as the page seemed not to understand the joke. Okay he didn't joke often and he was usually set on serious business face, the kid was fine.
He chuckled mildly amused and shook his head softly, "I see," he didn't seem inclined to move from the wall he'd leaned upon. "Honestly? It's actually really simple so yes, you probably are. You need to relax a bit kid." He said.
"There's a line deep down inside of you that rings out. If you close your eyes and search for it you'll hear it." He said as he watched the page look at him from under his hair, Niflhel sighed, "Come'er." He said motioning for the page to stand there facing him.
When the boy was standing in front of him the first thing Niflhel did was straighten himself off the wall and move the kid's hair out of his face. It was bugging him for the moment, "Now that I can actually see your eyes, close them and listen."frayedflower - Next post'll be Niflhel telling him the words if he doesn't figure it out. Did you want them to run off to space? 8D; Nif could take him to his own or whatever~

Confirmation that yes, there really was something wrong if he wasn't getting it and it really should be just that easy, was something Mont Blonc had kind of figured, but - he still blushed, vaguely mortified that he'd missed out on something that should have been easy. Just another way he was disconnected from his wonder, from his identity as a page.
A line deep inside of him that should ring out; what did that even mean? He hadn't really felt anything ring out before, so why on earth would he now? He just didn't get it, not at all. Mont Blonc was ready to close his eyes when Niflhel beckoned him closer. Without so much as batting an eye, the page obeyed, blushing harder still when the knight pushed his hair out of his face. "Sorry, " he murmured quietly, and did as he was told.
Shut his eye. Listen. Listen. Listen - how hard was he supposed to be listening? How long was this supposed to take? What was he even supposed to be listening for? Had he left the toaster on? - what? No, no - what was his wonder like, what -
Nothing was happening, and his brow furrowed, self-directed frustrations mounting fresh in his chest.

Niflhel after a few moments sighed and shook his head. Taking Mont's hand and placing it over his heart. "You're thinking too hard." He said softly before shrugging softly, "Here let me show you, you just need to relax and listen with your heart."
He held a hand on the other man's shoulder as he spoke softly, "I pledge my life and loyalty to Saturn, and to Niflhel. I humbly request your aid, so that in return I may give you mine."
With in a few seconds the world began to warp around them, and just as fast they left earth.frayedflower TBC in another thread - feel free to throw an exit here though.
