As those taken were shepherded across the cold sand of the colliseum, Automatonic guards loomed menacingly, their very silence a threat against any attempts to run. Once they had their charges huddled together before the King, weapons were pressed into cold, sweat-slicked hands.
To anyone who knew anything about weapons, it was clear that these were subpar at best. Rusted, moth-eaten, cracked. It was clear that they weren't meant to be able to properly defend themselves.
Before them, the King raised a withered, clawed hand and brought it slicing down through the air. A soft bugle sounded and from some hidden tunnel burst forth a pair of the Automatonic Guards followed by a single black and rippling beast that seemed to be made of shadow.
It was time to fight for their lives.
----------------------------
OOC Rules Prisoners will not be able to summon magic or weapons while in the arena. Unless they want to be exploded. To defeat the King's monsters, use the following dice rolls with each post to calculate damage:
Basic Senshi/Pages/Lieutenants: roll TWO d6. Super Senshi/Squires/Captains: roll THREE d6. Eternal Senshi/Knights/Generals: roll FOUR d6.
Automatonic Guards: Automatically do 5 damage per turn (be sure to coordinate with your battlemates to avoid confusion) Shadow Beasts: Automatically do 20 damage every three turns (again, be sure to coordinate with your battlemates)
HP Pools Please note that for the Gladiator bouts, these pools will not change Basic Senshi/Pages/Lieutenants = 50 Super Senshi/Squires/Captains = 75 Eternal Senshi/Knights/Generals = 100 Automatonic Guards = 80 Shadow Beasts = 125
Remember to put your own HP pool, any damage taken and who you are attacking for what damage at the top of each post in BOLD)
Example Sailor Abluhabluh: 50HP - 5 damage = 45 / Attacking Guard for WHOOPS I MISSED
You are allowed to attack each other! Just remember that while you’re doing that, a Shadow Beast may be taking a chunk out of your a**. Update! Please take note of the slightly atered dice rules -- miss chance has been removed for future rolls!

Sailor Dungoofd: 50HP, attacking Shadow Beast = MISS
He had never thought that the visit from the cat who'd awoken him would have set him on a path to be kidnapped into Crazy Town. Dungoofd had watched as the King's hand sliced through the air and grimaced. Still... as he glanced around, he thought that the little group stood a moderate chance against the summoned monsters.
Glancing down at the long knife he'd been given, Dungoofd could only snort in sour amusement. Knife. Huh. This thing had clearly come from somebody's set of props given the tarnished look and the fact that it kept trying to fold over on itself. Well, he thought, maybe I can make one of these things laugh itself to death when they see it.
The thought of attacking one of the others hadn't even crossed his mind. They were all stuck here together and if he survived, the last thing he wanted was to go back to face anyone in the cavern with the blood of his fellows on his hands. But the weird beast thing? Oh, that he could happily attack. With a yell, he charged the beast, hoping to maybe poke it in the eye or, well, do something helpful. The beast itself held still, watching him. Then, at the last second, seemed to glide out of the way of harm.
Which wouldn't have been a problem had his attempt not left Dungoofd somewhat isolated from his fellow fighters. ******** hell.Quote: Feel free to engage the beast with Dungoofd or fight off the pair of guards!

Eternal Ida HP: 100 - attacking shadow beast = missBeing pulled out of the cell, with out Chariklo or anyone else she knew, had been a nerve wracking experience. The automatons didn't care for her feelings, though. They were strong, far stronger than she was, and Ida managed little when she struggled against them
At lest they hadn't shoved her into chains, or drained her energy. Actually, beyond the roughness of being dragged against her will, she was in surprisingly good shape... And there was a weapon in her hand, allies by her side. All in all, this was an improvement over that dreaded future. Standing now in the sand, listening to the King, Ida frowned and tightened her hand around the hilt of the rusty sword they had given her.
She didn't want to die, that much she had come to realize about herself. She wanted to live, she wanted to go home and if all she had to do was fight some of the monsters holding them all captive? She could do that, and happily. The young woman's face set in determined lines, her balance on the balls of her feet as the beast and automatons joined them on the floor.
The others with her, when she glanced among them, were worryingly new. First stages, with her the only third. If this fight proved hard, she was going to have to make sure she took the brunt of the damage. She could take more than they could, and she healed faster besides.
One of the senshi rushed forward to attack the shadow beats and Ida tensed, seeing him miss his strike. Acting quickly, she flung the sword into the thing's face as she shouted at it and danced between it and the others, her arms spread to call it's attention to her. "Over here! Come on!"
Home was waiting... She just had to fight for it.

Mycenae considered it a good thing that he had been dragged out for one of the first battles, because he was pissed. Given the opportunity, he would have happily beaten into the ground whatever the Mad King wanted to put in front of him - and it was probably fortunate that there was a monster that looked like it needed beating down.
He knew none of the rules of this magical war, nothing about who he was "supposed" to fight, none of that - but right now there was a big, nasty-looking creature in front of him and two of those ******** automatons that had dragged him into this.
And the King was watching.
"He wants to watch us fight? He wants a show? 'N annhymerus' yn rhoi sioe ffycin iddo," he growled, and he went straight for the monster. He ached to call on his weapon, to beat it into the ground that way, but fists would just have to do.
His first punch swung wide, as the creature moved easily out of the way.

Sailor Alrescha: 50HP / Attacking Shadow Beast for 1 damage
It had only been a month. Just a month since a simple job interview had turned into a life changing experience for her. The prospect of being able to help people had been exciting, but admittedly Alrescha had put off a lot of the research into just what she'd managed to get herself involved in.
She'd only transformed for the second time ever when she'd been snatched up, and now she was in a genuine life or death situation. Fight with the flimsy short sword that had been shoved into her hands, or face certain death. It wasn't exactly much of a choice, but something in her gut still turned at the prospect of being thrown headfirst into a serious fight. She didn't even like getting into arguments with people; this was like her worst nightmare!
Deep down, she couldn't help but hope this really was just some kind of horrific nightmare. She could wake up tomorrow morning and play video games and go to work later in the day.
If only it were true.
Her grip on the rusted piece of junk tightened as her allies(?) began their attack, leaving her to wallow in her own fear for just a moment longer. But soon enough, she knew she had to do something. It was fight, or die, and as terrified as she was, Alrescha had no intention of just standing around and dying!
The moment she saw an opening, she charged forward with a shout, trying her best to psych herself up for what she was about to do. She slashed her weapon towards the ambling shadow beast as soon as she was close enough, and she swore her heart skipped a beat when the tip of the blade grazed it.
She hit it! (Okay, barely, but she still hit it!)

Sailor Dungoofd: 50HP - 20 (Shadow Beast Auto Damage) = 30HP, attacking Shadow Beast for 5 Damage (125-1-5 = 119)
He hadn't expected the others to all go for the beast as well. After all, there'd been two of those creepy guard things in the ring with them as well. Newbie though he was, Dungoofd knew that ignoring one enemy to focus solely on another was just a bad idea.
And even as he considered this, the Beast lashed out with a snake like snake and the senshi felt sharp, hooked claws rip through his arm. Screaming, he lashed out with the hand that still held the sorry excuse for a sword and swung wildly. He heard the beast whimper in pain as he caught it a glancing blow in the eye. Staggering back, Dungoofd thought that in this case, the others could deal with the beast. He'd managed to hit the thing, at least.

Ida HP = 95 ~ Attacking Shadow beast = FailedThe others were attacking and she felt a thrill of worry for them. Ida's hands clenched into fists as she shuffled to the side, seeking out a better position to attack from. The others did some damage, but it wasn't much... the monster hardly seemed to even notice it. They weren't going to get anywhere like this... if they managed to get anywhere at all with the King watching them, greedy for blood and death.
I don't want to die here. I don't want any of us to die here.
Ida grabbed that thought in both hands and held it tight, focusing on it to push down her fears. There were people to protect and fight for. She had to remember that.
The eternal rushed the shadow beast, but something hard slammed into her from the side, knocking her off her side. She spun out of the way, clapping a hand to her arm as she winced. One of the automatons was regrouping after taking advantage of her distraction. Her arm would bruise, but she had a good reason now to be thankful for the defense her senshi strength gave her. Maybe focusing on just one enemy was a bad idea...
"You guys focus on the automatons!" She called to the others. "Let me take the beast!"

Page Mycenae HP: 50 - 20 (shadow beast) = 30 - attacking automatonic guard #1, miss
The shadowbeast snapped at him, and strange teeth sank through Mycenae's layers to draw blood. "******** s**t," he gasped, and he stumbled away from it. Alright, so the pretty girl in purple was probably right, it was dangerous as hell, and definitely something far beyond what he was familiar with.
But the other two things, they looked like robots. and robots? Robots he knew. He could handle robots. So he went for the rusted sword he'd discarded in his haste, and went for one of them, taking a swing that just clanged off armor.
"They look mechanical, look for joints or anything like that - might just help take 'em apart that way!"
