User Image The weather this winter had been especially wet in it's last days. All rain, and no snow. This is the environment McIggins foals were growing up in. Dreamsicle enjoyed playing in the weather, and tended to explore more when it rained than any other time. Her parents and siblings were within ear shot. She is old enough to venture a little farther, without causing instant panic in her mother. Today, they were close to a small pond, and Dream asked all day to go play by the water. When mom said yes, her siblings joined her in the frolic by the waterside. They had already grown bored of the adventures in the rain, and returned for shelter. As long as she went back before the sun started to move down for the night, she wouldn't get in trouble.

Dreamsicle wiggled her little rump, with her front legs down on the ground. She pretended there was a frog in front of her by the waters edge. Then she pounced on the spot were the figment was. "Rrrribit!" she said, and then giggled and relaxed for a moment. Settling down on the ground, her little legs shifted around awkwardly till she was comfortable.

As she sat there, she listened to the sounds around her. The zappy, flap, of a dragonfly. Dreamsicle watched as it flittled around, and came close enough to her, that she snapped at it, and roared: "Rawrr! I'll eat you!" she giggled again. Fear not little dragonfly, for she didn't intend to actually eat you! The mini filly was only playing.

I've yet to rp this girl, so figured, why not! I also set it around the time she'd be a foal, if that's okay.

There was no question about it, Ealaionta was feeling downright naked. Yes, he was a Soquili, and yes, most Soquili ran about quite happily in nothing beyond their own skins, but Ealy was not one of those Soquili, and hadn't been one of those Soquili for some time. He might be a foal, but he considered himself a 'foal of the world'; it had been months now since he'd first discovered the Kawani village that had become his favorite haunt. His parents had been amused at his fascination with the Kawani, but beyond checking out the village on one occasion and giving him a lecture on the importance of using 'good judgement', they had mostly left him to his own devices when it came to Ealy spending time around the village.

Ealy had dutifully listened to the lecture and done his best to be inconspicuous, which was not an easy task for a foal as bright as he. However, he had persevered, and managed to settle into a nice routine of village watching. Over time, he had gotten bolder and more comfortable with the Kawani people...comfortable enough to risk venturing into the village itself instead of lurking on the outskirts. And on more than one of those 'inside ventures', he had given in to some of his possessive urges, taking not one, but several of those lovely woven scarfy things the Kawani natives crafted. Since the first day he took one, he'd always had one or more of the scarves draped over his person.

However, with all the rain that had been falling lately, Ealy was feeling extremely nervous about his scarves. Sure, they were warm and fluffy and pretty, but they weren't exactly sturdy. What if the rain ruined them?

So, after a great deal of thought on the subject, he had carefully hidden his scarves in a safe rocky nook, hopefully out of range of any negative rainy side effects. Ealy certainly felt better knowing that his scarves were safe...but as he made his way through the drizzle towards a nearby pond, he was feeling distinctly exposed. And cold, for that matter, he thought with a slight shiver. Rain had it's good points, but it was not the friend of a foal like him!

He'd thought about staking out the village again today, rain or no, but he hadn't gotten very far from home before the persistant beating of the rain got to him. He didn't want to go home, but he certainly didn't want to go all the way to the village in the damp. With his luck, all the Kawani people would be hidden inside their cloth triangles, anyway, and what would be the fun of watching an empty village? So he had decided to scope out the pond he'd seen off in the distance on one of his treks, heading gratefully in the direction of the bordering trees. Who knew, maybe there was something interesting to be seen down by the water! And if nothing else, the trees might help keep his dry...or at least keep him from getting any wetter!

A strong gust sent the rain away for a few moments. "Woah." Dreamsicle near toppled over from the wind, her eyes wide open. Small drops of rain still found their way to the ponds surface. She looked down and watched them ripple. Figured, she was getting a little bored after all, without her siblings to play with.

Rising up off the cold, moist ground, she shook her back legs out, one at a time. A funny little scene, as they poked out from behind her, as far as she could shake them. One leg stuck in position, as she thought she saw something. She did! There was a much bigger foal quite close to her. Dream hadn't noticed him approaching the pond, stuck in her own tiny world.

"Oh! Hii! Hiii!" she called out to him in glee. That leg that was sticking out finally made a slow motion move, back to the ground. Dream smiled big, and decided to saunter over to him. She all but disappeared in the tall, wet grass around the pond.

No good. She couldn't see a thing in the grass! Her mouth twisted up in a knot, and she slowed her pace, then stopped. Better to wait for him to come to her.

Dreamsicle went back towards the pond, and waited. This way, she wouldn't run past him, unawares!

"Oooooo." Dream was filled with wonderment, when she saw his great big wings. "You are a fie.. A fie.." her nose wrinkled as she tried to get the word out. "A fier!" Flyer the word she meant, but the l was missing.

At the strong gust of wind, even Ealy had trouble staying upright; though he was bigger than Dreamsicle, his large, feathery wings caught and held the wind, threatening to pull the foal clean over. Meeping slightly in surprise, he struggled against the pull, managing to keep himself up with only the mightiest of efforts. "Wow..." he muttered, a bit in awe at the sheer might of the wind. On the positive side, he now more than ever was grateful he'd left his scarves at home.No way they'd be able to stay where they belonged, wrapped around his neck, with that many wind gusts like that!

Buoyed by that thought, he increased his speed. At this point, he was almost bounding towards the pond, a giant red blur against the gloomy greyish-green backdrop of the rainy landscape. But as he got closer, he realized he wasn't the only colorful anomaly out in the rain. At first it looked like an orange smudge, but as he got closer he realized it was no smudge; it was a little orange filly, the teeny-tiniest filly he'd ever seen!

Talk about your good luck! While Ealy most loved hanging around the Kawani village, he was still a very social foal who loved being around others. His family was great; he had the best Mama and Papa in the world, and his brothers and sisters were awesome. But they were sometimes predictable; not at all like those random 'other' Soquili out there who were different colors and spoke with different words and did different things...or were just extremely small!

"Hi-hi!" Ealy called out, his voice riddled with enthusiasm that matched her own. Now that he was close to the filly, he was even more fascinated; forget tiny, she was minuscule! He bet she could walk right under his tummy without touching it, she was that small! But he wasn't going to judge; after all, HE was tiny compared to his Papa! Instead, he merely grinned at the filly, fluttering his wings energetically. Misunderstanding her meaning with her comment, he had to shake his head at her. "No, I'm not a fire," he said with a laugh. "Though maybe I can be the dark part right next to the burning thing! You're more like the fire part than me, though; you're ORANGE!" This last thing was said with awed vehemence; he certainly approved of her coloration! His family was filled with several colorful individuals; his parents were dramatic shades of red and green, and two of his three siblings shared those vibrant colors. His other brother was a more muted shade of light blue; it was like the sky, when it was foggy out. But there was nothing foggy or muted about the filly! "That's really cool!"

The rain seemed to be only drizzle as the two young ones exchanged their happy little meet and greet. However, the wind seemed to press harder on, moaning and whistling through the trees. That didn't stop these two though! Good that the rain didn't get much heavier, otherwise her dad Rotom, would of likely came to collect her. Or he would send Sapph to come get him. Sapphire seemed to have a knack for knowing where everybody was. Mom and Dad would normally ask her first where Dream was, before bothering to look. Sapph hadn't let them down yet!

Dreamsicle giggled at the enthusiastic colt. She really liked the way his emotion matched hers! The world needed more happy soq. Fire? No-no. that wasn't the word she meant! Her eyes staring at his wings as he spoke, watching them flutter with a soft swish sound. She wrinkled her nose, and then giggled again at his explanation of the colors in a flame. When he exclaimed that she was orange, her eyes got wide. "I KNOW. I am orange!? Isn't it great?!" she exclaimed back as she looked down at her own little rump, as if to verify these findings that they shared. "And you are red! My mom is pink, and my dad is see through like me." she said as she wiggled a hoof at him. Though her dad was much more ethereal looking than she was. "And my sister, well, she's blue." Dream rambled a bit. Lucky for him, she didn't start to tell him the colors of anything else! Her mouth went wide as if she would continue and then she giggled yet again. "But no." she scrunched her face up, looking ridiculously silly as she tried to look serious. "No fi-ur, a fier!" she tried to say with a hoof stamp, both words still sounding exactly the same even though she tried so hard to pronounce it right. "You know, with wings! And feathurs! And you go zoooooom - and fie through the air!" she said as she zipped around on the ground, pretending to fly. She turned back to him and gave him a smile, with her lips bubbled out as she held air pushed in front of her teeth. She nodded, and her eyebrows seemed to nod with her. Surely he knew what she was talking about now! Dream's speech wasn't too bad, just some words stumped her. She tended to talk fast, and sometimes trip over her own words. Though, in this case, it was just a hard word for her.

Dream wondered if he could fly, or if he still had to learn. She too wondered if it made him happy when he was flying. It would sure make her happy to soar through the sky! And talk to the birds! Realistically though, everything seemed to make her happy.
