The wind ruffled Neve's mane, drifting through the feathers on her open wings. It was good to be up here. Good to be in the wide, open sky, up high, flying above her concerns, the heavy heart that she occasionally felt because she could never rest completely easy about her mother, and because she couldn't burden anyone but herself with this task. Once, a long time ago now, she had what she thought was a loving ear to talk to, but that was gone and she was a mother alone, determined that her own would not blight her children's lives.
So whilst she was flying over the stretches of open meadow and dense forest for a purpose, she was enjoying the time on the wing, pushing her muscles, stretching herself with gliding and swooping, and at one point she'd even been able to laugh as she had almost terrified a bird out of the sky as she'd swooped swiftly past it. After a while she realised that she had flown into the outskirts of the area her mother had supposedly been seen recently, and her movement became more focused.
Neve started flying in sections, criss crossing each one a few times before moving onto the next, on the look out for other Soquili that she could possibly ask if they'd sighted any Kalona recently, or rather morbidly, any remains from recent kills. It would be hard to see the actual carcasses, but circling carrion birds were always something to be on the look out for. After a time she landed near a small stream, sniffing at the air as she approached the water, ears twitching to take in all the sounds in the immediate area.
A quick drink later she took to the skies again, continuing her grid search of the area. She was beginning to think she wouldn't even see anyone, let alone her mother, and then she caught the movement out of the corner of her eye..

He was soaring high, trying to see exactly how far his wings would take him into the atmosphere. He was a large stallion and despite his hallow bones and two sets of wings, he still couldn't quite reach as high as he desired. He was always trying to reach higher. He wasn't sure he'd ever be satisfied. He was always pushing himself in all things, trying to do a little better.
As he was swooping about for another pass at touching the top of a certain cloud he happened to notice a dark shadow against the bright sky. Curious, he flew closer and soon realized it was a winged mare. He circled lower, slowing to come along beside her.
"Hello there! Lovely day for a fly, isn't it?" He flashed her a charming grin.

"It is." Neve had been right, she had spotted someone, and instead of her having to fly to him, he had come right to her. One of those with the double wing set, Angeni she thought it was called? All she knew was that she didn't remember seeing such a breed when she was a younger mare, a filly.
She flapped her wings, trying to keep a distance between them, though he had open manner, and the smile had seemed genuine, she hadn't got to her age by being immediately trusting. She weighed him up carefully, noting the long and slightly curved horn, and the height/weight ratio between them. She wondered though if two pairs of wings were a help or hinderance to maneuverability, but she felt that she could possibly outfly him if it were called for.
"Do you live in these parts, or have been here this past week or so at least?" she asked first, making sure to speak clearly so that the wind up there wouldn't whip her words away. If he wasn't from the area or hadn't been here for a while recently it would be pointless to question him in detail about any sightings, though it was likely he'd be curious why she was asking.

CitrusCupcake sorry bad reply is bad.... I'm sleepy He noted the way she seemed to keep her distance, but shrugged it off. He was a large, imposing stallion, and a stranger that had just approached her out of the blue. He could be a danger to her, he thought with amusement. He couldn't think of anyone less dangerous than himself. His mother Snow had taught him and his twin to be adventurers, and those who help everyone in need. He smiled to himself.
"Sure we've been here about a week, I'd say." He had to think about it for a moment, but momma Snow had been treating a badly broken leg for a while and they'd paused in their adventuring. He estimated the time they'd been in the area to be about 8 days or so. "Why do you ask?"

She wondered idly as she waited for his response if he'd noticed her pointed canines so far, those and her cloven hooves were the only indication of one side of her parentage, and even those small traits often made for questions or even uncomfortableness on the part of others. She flicked her wings again, attempting to stay in the one place, and on hearing his answer she gave a short nod in acknowledgment of his answer.
"There is a reason, but getting into it is a little lengthy and I have further questions. May we meet again on the ground please?" she asked, but didn't wait for his answer, thinking that if he was curious enough, or even polite enough, he would follow her. So Neve turned in the air, heading groundwards in a closed wing dive before opening her wings for the last few feet and gliding to a controlled landing.
Wings folded again, she waited for the young stallion to rejoin her. Fatal Irony Heh, you dint have to reply right away ^_~

CitrusCupcake I'm always tired XD might as well get the rps tagged He was left blinking after her, registering belatedly that she had already begun to descend. What an interesting mare, he thought. After a moment's hesitation ha adjusted his wings and followed her down, his curiosity getting the better of him. He didn't know this mare and didn't owe her any answers, surely, but he wanted to know what she could possibly want him to answer. He wasn't a local and couldn't tell her much about the area. Unless she was looking for someone? That might be it, he mused as he lightly touched down and started walking over to her.
He looked around where they had landed approvingly. The clearing was wide enough for landing and taking off again, but was rimmed with thick trees and brush, affording them some privacy. His eyes landed back on the mare before him. "Before we go forward perhaps introductions are in order? My name is Aramis."

A short time after she landed, he also did, and as he was doing so she took a moment to take another look at him, but this time she took in more of his details. She still found the dual pair of wings quite intriguing, but she was more interested in the patterning about face and body, and even noticed that he had something similar to her own leg striping.
She was taken a little aback at him introducing himself, after all she really just wanted information from him, and was sure her conversation skills were nothing less than rusty, but well, she supposed that it wouldn't hurt to be polite in return, and so she answered.
"Mine is Neve, it's good to meet you Aramis." she said, and bestowed her first smile on him.
"So you've been in this area for around a week?" she asked, thinking that maybe she should have done more small talk first but if she got an answer either way she could always take some time then to talk properly with him before having to leave again.
Fatal Irony Aww, am sorry to hear that

She was clearly one who seldom smiled, but when she did it changed her entire face. He was a little taken aback by it, feeling almost as though the two were sharing some secret. He smiled back at her in return.
"Neve is a pretty name, and it is equally good to meet you." He wondered where her line of questioning was leading.
"Yes I've been here about a week, my mother has been tending to a bad leg. What do you want to know?"

He was a charming young man. She wondered how young, and got an answer almost straight away when he mentioned his mother. She wouldn't ask him however, she just wanted information from after all, right? Right.
"Well, thank you." It had also been a long time since she'd received a compliment about anything about herself, so she was taken aback by that for a moment.
"I'm sorry to hear that. I was wondering if you or anyone in your family had seen a Kalona mare in this area. Or have even seen signs that one might be around." Neve asked, though she was unsure whether she wanted the answer to be a positive or negative one as it was fairly close to where she lived, and it would mean dealing with the vicious witch again.
