Though he was once again up with the sun, Ballad still hadn't managed to accomplish most of the things he had planned to do before mid-day. Or perhaps it was more accurate to say that he had, but new tasks kept throwing themselves in his path. While a list of three tasks had been his morning's work, he was somehow on errand number seven with no end in sight. As things stood, he'd gone to see Kel and speak briefly to Arioso regarding their training of the new herd member in healing arts. That appeared to be going well, of which he was thankful. After bidding the Unicorns farewell Ballad had visited briefly with the budding Songbird Flock and made notes of some of their concerns while giving them a few messages to take to various allies. He'd even managed to track down a lead on a particularly skilled herbalist and would be attempting to contact her shortly.

Of course, he now had to pass on a message for one of the Songbirds, check on the location of a Harpy Mare, make sure Aveshar was back in his territory, try to find out where Keshani was located, attempt to contact Amiera and Kalira, and well.. Many other things besides. All of that when now, more than anything, he wished he were returning to his lady's side, to ensure she was well. Leaving Whistle behind -whether she had company or not- was becoming more and more difficult for the mist-coated stallion.

But here he was, trekking through the woods on his errands with his mind far away in the presence of his lady.

User Image Imre was in a good mood even though he had been blown into a tree while flying shrunken through the woods. Now he was playing in the underbrush and dropping on imaginary items and foes from above. Still shrunken, he was not as small as a full flutter, but he was small enough to be hidden by some trees and bushes from casual sight. By the time that Imre heard someone approaching it was too late to become large again without possibly startling the approaching Soquili. Besides, Imre wasn’t sure if this newcomer was kind or mean, gentle or going to attack Imre the moment he was sighted.

So, Imre stayed low and only peeked up to see what was coming. It was a stranger, but that didn’t surprise Imre because he was in an unfamiliar location. At least it wasn’t a skinwalker, so not completely irrevocably evil. Yet this new stallion could still be dangerous. Imre watched from the shadows unsure of what to do. He wanted to make new friends but he was rather vulnerable at the moment too. Shifting unconsciously, Imre stirred the underbrush around him.

"I suppose being busy and productive is as good a reason as any to be away from home the whole day long..." The dusk-blue stallion mused to himself. "Still, it's a bit dull... But with only one emissary and his day full of things to be done, I'm still not sure what other option was available."

And Whistle understood, of course.Whistle understood everything involving her mate, accepted it and offered aid and advice where she could. Even heavy with foal she was stubbornly insisting she would seek out the rumors of a healer in the nearby woods, determined to ensure the safety of their forthcoming children. Truth be told, Ballad could not fault her logic in the slightest. It was brilliant and reasonable; if they had friends capable of healing and could trade for services or call on someone for help if there was an emergency... Well, perhaps the tragedy that befell their last two baskets would not come again.

"If the spirits are kind." He mused softly, shaking the shadows off with a determined snort. "Now, enough of that for the moment... More things to be done if I ever wish to get home."

About that time Ballad got the sudden, abrupt feeling he was being watched. Halting in his tracks the ground stallion hesitated, his ears pitching forward and then back as he searched for the sounds of attack. Birds and bugs were still trilling and buzzing along, the woods alive in the sun... So then, not a Skinwalker or a Kalona, for the wildlife tended to still around them.

"Ah, excuse me." He offered in a pleasant tone. "I apologize for disturbing you, and if this is herdlands I confess I was not aware, but I'm just passing through on some errands... I hope that's alright."

There was no harm in being honest and polite, even if he didn't see anyone at the moment...
